King of the HAMMERS! I have watched a lot of videos from King of the Hammers but wow it is way more impressive when you are there in person! Some of those boulders were huge and those cars were crawling right over! It was a super fun day in the Speed UTV. I'm glad Chad didn't wreck his car trying to get up Chocolate Thunder. No offense to your red Toyota because it’s obviously a very capable machine, but you just proved that money cannot buy talent. You probably have less money in your entire set up than some of these guys have in just their tires. yet, the little red Toyota out crawled almost all of them. Nice work!
Nice coverage guys👍🏼 something about beating the crap out of my machine trying to go over a rock doesn’t appeal to me 🤣 I’m more of a sand and hard pack scenario is what I prefer.
As number 976, everything I've seen says my el hefe won't rock crawl at Sand Hollow or Moab.
It’s a blast at Sand Hollow, Have not taken it to Moab yet. Speed is developing some super sticky 35’s that will be awesome in this terrain. Speed was a blast, a little clutching and it will do the obstacles no problem

Yeah hard stuff for sure… we did it in a 4ws V8 buggy, but can’t imagine trying to get thru unscathed in a Speed 🤣… next time 🤘

Seems like the gearing is way too high in low. Makes me wonder how much Robby actually changes on the Speed to race KOH.

Ive been racing king of hammers in utvs for 5 years. You can’t really “crawl” rock bouncing is the best way to hit it to not smoke your belt. I’ve been up chocolate thunder many times. But trying it in a 4 seater speed sxs something I wouldn’t do. That low gear doesn’t seem that low haha.
Tell you what. Bring that speed car to Moab. I have a can am X3 max on 36s. We can run them together and really see how that car does. Everything I have seen is they do not do well in the rocks. I’ll be in Moab mar 13th-16th. Also doesn’t look like he aired down.

The car is all stock on 32 inch tires. I could’ve made it up, but it would’ve ripped the drivers rear panel off the car. Sorry, it wasn’t worth the glory!
@@UTV-A I’ve seen yxz’s on 30’s go up with out touching a body panel. Not rippin you I understand. But the belt slipping that bad under power is pretty rough to watch.

Was that the torque limiter making all that noise? A couple times it looked like the front tires were not spinning with the rear. Or was the belt slipping?
Belt slippage! Working on some clutching then will try again
This was painful to watch. Considering it's factory tires on factory wheels, the Speed shouldn't have all that slipping, clunking, stalling, front end not locking up, and just a number of extremely severe issues all the way around.
Haha, It was a blast. Probably should have warmed it up a little more. It was a good Gauge, I’ll be back on 35’s with some clutching
Torque limiters are alittle soft. Momentum is your friend on rocks. Looked goof
Bigger tires, a little clutching, and warming it up a little more, and she’ll do it.

What's with all the stalling on the Speed? That doesn't seem normal.
She was still a little under temperature, these cars like to run above 170° oil temp.

so hard to watch this vid, speed is just not made for rock crawling, too long, too wide, need bigger tires. sounded like the front diff was broke.

Tranny was okay, but the clutch just kept slipping so I couldn't get the torque I needed to get the front tires up on that rock.

Ha, attempting to rock crawl up chocolate thunder in a bone stock four seater Speed UTV is just ridiculous. Some people just have to learn the hard way the capabilities of what’s essentially just a toy. You do realize that all of these UTV’s that race king of the hammers are far from stock.

I was at the King Of The Hammers this year I watch Robbie Gordon. He broke the car. He put other professional drivers in that car, the speed car to run it, and they couldn’t even drive it because it broke again it kept breaking, breaking, breaking. The car should go back on the pavement where it belongs The car didn’t perform like Robbie Gordon thought it was it needs to stay out on the desert not in the rocks. It’s not a rock buggy
I hate to tell you guys, but that speed car is in the wrong country. It should be on the pavement, so it won’t get scratched.
When you are out there and a steering wheel is in your hands sometimes curiosity gets the best of you. So you have to try and see for fun. Even if you know it could end badly.
Just out having fun. The Speed #97 will be back to try again
