    📺 ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
In this guitar lesson, Steve Stine shows you how to play 10 easy guitar songs with just 3 guitar chords: G C and D
It's important to learn how to play songs on the guitar to continue developing your ability to change chords quickly and cleanly, to develop your ability to strum along with music/musicians, and to continue visualizing and memorizing song structures.

    1. What I Got - Sublime
    2. Sweet Home Alabama - Lynyrd Skynyrd
    3. Werewolves of London - Warren Zevon
    4. All Summer Long - Kid Rock
    5. Can't You See - Marshall Tucker Band
    6. Get a Haircut - George Thorogood
    7. Old Time Rock and Roll - Bob Seger (this song IS tuned down a half step on the recording)
    8. Tulsa Time - Eric Clapton
    9. Hound Dog - Elvis Presley (needs a capo on 5th fret)
    10. Everyday People - Sly and the Family Stone

65 years young Nana here, I had lessons for 12 months, gave it up for another 12.....I decided to give it another try and I found you, Steve Stine. I've learned more in your first 10 lessons than in 12 months with a "teacher". Thank you so much for making my guitar lessons so easy, understandable and it gives me hope that I will play my guitar very soon and I will be able to listen to me lol so thank you!!!

Steve is an excellent guitar teacher . I love how he says " it doesn't matter how you do it" He makes learning fun. Too many teachers out there seem they want you to know how good they are but can't get the point across.

Steve, I think what you have illustrated here is that, in the case of these simple three chord songs, the music is really made with your strumming pattern and dynamics. So this is more proof of the old adage that says your left hand shows what you know and your right hand shows who you are.

    • @contra8183
      @contra8183 6 лет назад +7

This^ Would have been ideal to indicate strumming patterns. Songs are nothing without proper strumming.

THIS is years after the fact BUT YOU sir are one of the first internet teachers that I started with 10 years ago on my guitar journey. You and Marty Music has changed my world let's be honest. I've went on to have some amazing musical experiences and it wouldn't have happened more than likely had I not found you cats in the beginning. ANYWHO, that said. I feel that I've gotten a pretty solid grip on my craft now and I still find myself coming back to you as a "reset" at times. Good stuff Steve and I personally very much appreciate you and your style.

The brilliance of Steve is that he knows the theory like a jazz guy, but rocks like a rocker (lots of jazz guys won’t or can’t play or teach rock, and call open string chords “cowboy chords!” ) Well, know what, most of us are cowboys or cowgirls at heart, learned to play on open string chords and always will! Then teachers that don’t sing don’t always at least talk the lyrics (for us singin’ strummers) so we can connect the lyrics to the playing! And Steve does this! So he’s the “Perfect 10” teacher! I’m so happy I found you, Steve! So many of your videos are exactly right where I’m at. I’m sure tons of players say that which makes your teaching universal! Suited for any level! 👏🎸😍

    Steve Stine,
I've been looking at quite a few Guitar Teaching Videos on RUclips and yours do feel very much like the Best Ones. Very Clear and Explained Precisely what a Beginner Guitarist has to do and should do to enable them to Learn about Playing Guitars.
I've had a look at some of your Video's and you do Cover a Lot more than other Guitar Training Videos do.
The only thing I haven't been able to find yet amongst your Video's. Is Videos teaching the Guitarist how and the Correct and Best way to Change Guitar Strings, both on Acoustic and Electric Guitars and the Correct way to Clean & Maintain your Guitar. My question is have you made any Videos concerning the above subjects.? Thank you in advance for your reply.! Best Wishes.!

Dude this was so awesome particularly for beginners like me who's kinda late to pick up that guitar. I always thought that playing the guitar was more like a brain surgery operation in the process. I realized after few attempts that discovering to try to strum some of your favorite sings on your own was a fantastic moment of fun. Guys, leave those gadgets on the shelf and start rockin'. Cheers Steve.

Thanks for watching, Kris! To answer your question, first let's review what's happening when Steve puts the capo on the 5th fret.
First, let's look at a G chord. The tab below is for a guitar with no capo, just playing a G chord:
      e - - - - 3 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
      B - - - - 3 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
      G - - - - 0 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
      D - - - - 0- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
      A - - - - 2- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
      E - - - - 3- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The root note for the G chord is G, and you can find the lowest G note in the chord on the 6th string, 3rd fret.
Now, let's look at that chord again with the capo on the 5th fret. It looks the same in the tab, but all the notes are 5 frets higher. Look on the left for the new notes in the tab below:
      a - - - - 3 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
      E - - - - 3 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
      C - - - - 0 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
      G - - - - 0- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
      D - - - - 2- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
      A - - - - 3- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The chord looks the same, but it's being played 5 frets higher. Now, the lowest note of this chord is C, which means that when you put a capo on the 5th fret and play a G chord shape, you're actually playing a C chord. :-)
Re the other 2 chord shapes, if you move a C chord up the fretboard 5 frets, it becomes an F chord, and if you move a D chord up the fretboard 5 frets, it becomes a G chord.
So, if you put a capo on the 5th fret and play G, C, and D, you're actually playing the chords C, F, and G. Now, if you know how to play an F chord, you could drop the capo and just play C, F, and G. But the idea for this video is to just use 3 chords.
Just remember: pay attention to what the root notes are, and you can quickly figure out what's what when you use a capo.
And remember, you can move the capo to any fret you want, for any song. It comes in really handy if you sing, or if you play with a singer. Because sometimes when you try to sing a song, there will be a note or two that are just a little too high (or too low) to sing.
When that happens, a capo comes in handy. For example, if the song is too low for you to sing, try putting the capo on the first or second fret. You can play the song exactly the same way, but now everything's raised up a little, so your voice might fit the song better.
      Hope this makes sense! :-)
Just wanted to give a heads-up, if you want to play new songs faster, write better songs, and sound more authentic and musical when you solo, make sure you check out Steve’s new Ultimate Song Bundle → www.guitarzoom.com/ultimatesongbundle/promo/

The entire song is literally just G, Am, C and back to G over and over again....with Capo on II. Totally kick ass song for a beginner to learn. although a beginner may not think to buy a capo until later on..... ah well... good song none the less and really only three chords!
