    I started off on a Barbour international with a belt. then upgraded recently for a Barbour international Race parker , even with just a t-shirt underneath its still to warm for December 2020s mild winter.
    Its always better to buy good quality second hand like Barbour, Levi's , Kango etc. etc . A quality lasts longer and B even when you buy second hand you can relist it and get your some of your money back on Ebay when you fancy a change.
    I love the look and attention to detail you give on your review as no one else has done a review on the Duke .

    I have this in black - great stylish jacket! Don’t think this is made in England, but still good quality. I emailed them, she said the classics and some others are and if I asked her which ones I’m interested in she’d tell me, the Bedale is which I have and that is great quality.

    Really enjoyed that review, and the jacket. I just picked up the Barbour Ogston about a week ago and been loving it. Kinda wish I had of seen this jacket now, it’s over £100 cheeper and looks amazing. I was curious about the Filson jackets but thought you would be paying a premium for import and it’s always nice to support a British company 🇬🇧.

    I’ve had a Duke (green) for about four years. It’s been awesome; I’ve rewaxed it twice and it looks as good as new.
    They are not winter jackets though. They’re a fairly slim fit too, so you can’t wear too many layers under them either.

    Fantastic jackets. My only gripe with them (and Barbour) is they’re quite cloak & dagger with respect to location of manufacturing.
    You’d think all Barbour jackets are made in the UK when in reality only a small amount of their ‘classic’ range is made in the UK, the rest are outsourced to other countries.
    Location of manufacturing isn’t a problem but does leave some irritation that they claim to be a british brand but mislead you in to thinking you’re buying a UK made product.

    • @glaz5228
      @glaz5228 4 года назад

      JokerKnightmare I believe this one is made in Bulgaria, which is at least still in Europe. If they outsourced to China, India, probably anywhere in Asia (except Japan) it’d be much much more worrying.

    • @garryoakley2397
      @garryoakley2397 3 года назад

      @@glaz5228 As long as the quality control do their job you should still get a decent product no matter where it's made. Sadly, it's been a hell of a long time since we could say "British is best". Buying on line or by mail order can be a bit hit and miss so I'd recommend going to a branded store to see the product before taking advantage of the lower priced availability online.

    Hi! I love the review (and the jacket). One question on sizing: what height/weight are you? I'm 6', 185 lbs, so I'm normally a medium (and even own another Barbour in medium), but I've also seen the reviews online suggesting sizing up, so was curious what you'd recommend.

    • @jimmy7494
      @jimmy7494 4 года назад +2

      baron1985 I have this in black, definitely slimmer, sharper cut than classic Barbours, all I can say mine is medium and I’m 39 inch chest, with v. little room for layering (intended as it’s a warm jacket), also arms are on the shorter side so maybe go large

    I'm trying to decide between this and the Corbridge. I prefer the styling of the Duke but would like to know if the quilted lining is the same 50g weight quilted lining as the Corbridge? I have emailed Barbour but they have not yet replied.

    • @thomasf1531
      @thomasf1531 3 года назад

      If you get the opportunity try both on. I was originally after the Corbridge so tried it and the Duke on last year. I preferred the style of the Corbridge but just found it a bit too restricting, and sizing up the jacket looked a bit baggy. The Duke was an excellent fit for me without having to size up.

    If it doesn't say "Made in England" on the lable then it isn't. The original may have been designed for motorcycle use but today this would not be of interest to a biker. There is no armoured protection or pocket to hold any. This is a purely fashion item. One of the reasons it was reduced is possibley not being made in Englad there was still a decent profit for Barbour as production was outsourced. I have a "Barbour New Utility Jacket" which is way more practical. It has more room under the arms and is a more generous fit over all. Having said that it was not made in England either. I am wondering how long the South Shields factory will remain open. It seems that the majority of products made by Barbour are outsourced and may be of lesser quality so I am told. I must say that I am satisfied with my Utility jacket though - although I would have preferred to have bought a British made product.

    • @jimmy7494
      @jimmy7494 4 года назад +1

      When I emailed them asking them which are made in England, she said classics ones and some others are but she also said others are too. They are still owned by the family, and get the impression they intend on keeping some made in England. There’s been a small shift generally for more uk clothing factories, even belstaff’s new owners intend on a made in England line, Burberry too sound more positive about their keighley factory now

      @@larry4789 Yeah, it is reasonably warm. But here in Finland the winters are quite cold and I'd need atleast a thick sweater with this jacket, and I can't really fit one underneath now, so this will be for fall and early winter use when I know I won't spend much time outdoors... Hi. I just received mine in L and I have a 40 inch chest. I tried a M in a store where they didn't have a L and that looked great but I had very limited mobility even with just a shirt on which I thought would be bad when on the bike so I ordered a L.
      So I think it's going to be a bit snug.

    • @richardnewton9411
      @richardnewton9411 4 года назад

      rounick28 Just received mine in large. It’s a nice fit tbh. I’m short and have short arms, so if I size up to xl I believe the sleeves will be far too long for me..
      It’s certainly a slim fit. However it zips up nicely with a shirt on. The Barbour website stats the large is 45 inches.
      I normally buy jackets in medium in the high street shops, but designer labels I often size up.

      They are 1907s but I have never treated them.. I always prefer to keep a lighter tone to leather so tend to run them a bit dry... what I have done is brush them to redistribute the existing oils; there was plenty in the leather already
