I LOVE my Barbour A7!
I use it just as demonstrated, as a windbreaker raincoat over my Vanson ventmax shirt, or over the perfed leather Cobra.
I wax mine once every summer, on a hot day, and it’s just as waterproof as my gortex but it doesn’t turn into a sail like lighter weight nylon tends to.
It’s the perfect companion to the Vanson Mark II Cobra.
The Cobra has perforated leather on the chest, with large interior wind curtains that fold down for venting and seal up to close. The issue is that the wind curtain is made from wind proof nylon, and offers zero insulation. With the wind curtain closed and sealed, the chest is still cold on a chilly morning, because the perforated leather doesn’t insulate like solid leather will.
The Barbour over the top adds a ton of warmth and rain rain protection. Really extends the useful range of that model.
Adding all the pockets is icing on the cake!
Some people aren’t into waxed cotton, and I can see why. It needs to be maintained. No tech liner, means you must rewax at least once a year.
But I maintain my bike and my leathers, so keeping a layer of Thornproof on my International isn’t a problem. It’s kind of relaxing… rewaxing.
I think it’s a very beautiful jacket, I’m using mine for fashion and wear to go shopping, especially autumn.
I really wish Barbour and Knox would work together.
Knox produce fantastic armoured gear, but their outerwear looks far more fell walker than bike rider. Barbour make a great jacket, but it's not going to save your skin and bones in an accident.
A Barbour X Knox collab, or whatever the hipper among us call it these days just seems like the way forward.
Its funny....after watching your video I just tried this on top of my armoured leather jacket (like the ton up boys, except their jackets weren't armoured) and to my amazement it worked perfectly......I suppose because the cotton is so loose and flexible...that is one advantage it has over the Belstaff range (which are brilliant as standalone jackets but could not perform that function). Thanks for the tip...!
I’m heading to Newfoundland next week. Highs of 10-12. My Barbour International Union Jack jacket will be just warm enough.
Barbour on motorcycle: cold in the winter, hot in the sumer, stinky and greasy. ...But i do not want another jacket for ride my old Harley into our belgian climate...
I have toyed with the idea of buying a Belstaff but tbh I can get a pretty decent armoured leather jacket that doesn’t stink for the same money! I do already own an old worn Barbour and will admit it folds flat and small for the cargo net over pillion seat.
I think I would prefer the 10 oz for two wheels. Brilliant jackets and price.
I like my International but boy do they make you sweat if you walk any further than 1/4 of a mile.
I didn't know when I got mine but the yellow eyelets on the belt, fasteners and badge mean it is the slim fit version. The regular fit is all black which I would have preferred.
Having said that, it is a very durable, smart jacket.
How are the sizes on these jackets I normally wear a large jacket
Jack can u ever record a waterproof test on these wax jackets after and before reproof of wax , thanks, dont know if u dtill active
From what temperature does the jacket become too hot to wear in the summer on a bike?
nice review do you know where these are made now?
Brass buttons and zip make the jacket !
I really don’t see the point of this jacket. It is neither fully waterproof nor armoured. No waxed cotton jackets are fully waterproof. I have a Barbour jacket and can confirm that. It is just a jacket. I also do not like the proximity of the zip to the tank. It can too easily scratch the tank paint work.
Totally agree, Belstaff have sorted it, why can't Barbour? Oh that's right, they abandoned the motorcyclist market and just make foppish fash clothes now.
I’ve just bought the Merlin Edale Jacket. Apart from the weight it seems ok. I think Jack said he wears a protective armour suit underneath.
Hi John. Yes some people just don’t get the usefulness of this jacket. I was the same until I combined it with a protective base layer. It’s fabulous for those spring summer rides and when it gets too warm you can simply fold it away because it’s not too bulky 👍
Good luck buying one if you don't live local to them! Their website is hugely dysfunctional, offering neither online ordering nor prices despite bragging of 'Sale' items. As for their 'store locator' it advises me that my nearest retail outlet is somewhere in the middle of the sea of Oman. Won't be buying a Barbour then, Belstaff, do you want my money instead?
I ordered a jacket from the Barbour International website this week no problem. I'm in the UK.
Hi Warren. I ordered mine from Country Attire because they had an offer on at the time. They are really good 👍
@@JackBonhamMotorcycles country attire and outdoor and country are both very good.
I've bought Barbours and Belstaffs from these 2 with good discounts
