I don’t know if people read this but a woman died in Disney world restaurant where she specifically asked for some food to be free of peanuts or something she was highly allergic to. Her husband sued Disney for negligence and Disney said he signed up for free Disney plus subscription some time back which has a precondition that he cannot ever sue Disney. Can you believe it!

This isn't anything! The actual creepy thing is that all AI apps were trained by stealing everyone's data available online!!
Yes! Yours, mine and everyone else data has been compromised. Stright up privacy violation!!
I am shocked on how Indians have no idea about how deep trouble we all are in. In west their's hot debate and lawsuit's going on but no such discourse in India.
Indians really think AI is our friend! Read Insta and Adobe terms and conditions. They have added that whatever is uploaded in their app is their property and can use it any way they want.
It's scary how our government has taken absolutely no action meanwhile news channel keep talking about Chinese app stealing our data! The fake concern!

It's insane that you had to give a disclaimer before praising Ananya Pandey (TT). I think we should be able to give credit where it's due. If we assume the right to give criticism on someone's performance, then praise/improvements should also be highlighted.

Interestingly, the part about Aparshakti's voice over of the AI assistant that disconnected you is what I found even more convincing in the movie, as that is exactly how I'd imagine an AI assistant to sound like in this day and age, as opposed to the hyperrealism depicted in "Her", which was a more futuristic movie. So that made me connect with the plot even more.

Yes! I immediately thought of those ChatGPT videos doing the rounds on the internet where AI talks in a flirty "hey kitten" tone. The tone and voice was very much in line with what we see today, and honestly, I don't think the movie was trying to show Ananya falling for the character or developing a deep bond. It was like she started looking at the AI purely as a tool to get the closure she needed and then started to rely on it, but maybe more as an assistant/social media coach/a close work friend that you open up to. At least that is the vibe I got and it fit perfectly for me.

Now where do you put these type of characters in a traditional big budget movies of Bollywood. Where there is no time for these simple characters to flourish have a presence create a impact. The only way they make a impact is by being overtly sexual or loud and that itself destroys the connection or meaning of these characters.
I don't know where these ultra urban characters demand is right now but everything is going to change if jigrah becomes a urban hit which I expecting it to be. Every other movie remotely also related to AI or tech gets compared to HER even at the drop of second which is a lot of time irrelevant n mostly unfair, whether its teri baaton me or this movie from this year. Movie does the job of make u think about ur digital footprint especially the Video by Joe but i was expecting tables to turn in later half - to only realise that the end was so so depressingly realistic. For me, this marks a solid picture of what LSD2 wanted to do but couldn't quite achieve. While the movie deviated from a psychological attachment (as showcased in Her), I think the scenario described here is more apt for the current level of technology. It shows how even a relatively primitive AI, when given enough authority, can be of great use to us, but can very soon take a sinister turn. What really hit home for me, though, was the fact that it didn’t stop at presenting a dystopian scenario but actually went beyond that with its ending to reflect the captive nature of today, couldn't agree more with you on that point.
Motwane has always been a remarkable talent with all his projects, but I think this solidifies his position as a storyteller who’s addressing very important issues. This is especially true considering James Cameron’s recent comment in his conversation with Bill Gates (What’s Next Ep. 1 on Netflix), about how it's becoming increasingly harder to write science fiction because any such content takes three years to be realized and may lose relevance. With that in mind, I think Motwane has done a terrific job again. It’s only alarming that such great content may not have the reach it deserves, as the movie lacks the star power or happy-go-lucky vibe most audiences seem to seek.
I enjoyed Motwane’s recent interview with Baradwaj Rangan, though I wish the discussion had extended beyond the movie into Motwane’s vision of how technology should be processed in today’s world and directed in a safe way. I’ve enjoyed the content you’ve put out for a long time, and I’m really happy to see your popularity and reach growing. I’ll look forward to more such interesting discussions, especially if you can bring on similar guests in the future. Godspeed ahead!

I like janvi too she need to do a show which she is more related to like a star kids life, which is close to her life and show her acting skills, like Ananya did with call me bae.
Lemme talk about call me bae for a second. The series is not actually great, is fresh but not well made. It had its flaws but it is what it is. It's not a series we watch to know great story or invest sm attention. It's a pretty good story with good acting with good chemistry with enough plot. It's a good series actually. Once can see Nella getting app in early phase and after all the events happens and when she goes back - Joe is hyper realistic so show the difference what has been adapted from current users to make the app better. Joe AI is using real Joe’s face and Voice. So it was intentional journey of progress from machine made AI avatar to realistic Avatar

motwane is my new favourite director! i watched the film last night and still am getting all the creeps. brilliant job!
in terms of cons- i think the runtime could be cut down for a bit. (the removal of joe from the digital footprint got way too screen time)
Allens avatar was unsettling, untrustworthy and undone for sure. But i do think making AI less like a human was better and more real because as nella says, 'tu toh ai hai, feelings nhi hai tere pass.' also considering the early stages of AI!
i do wonder why nella didnt say no when the last video was getting erased, after joe died! :(
but her turning to ctrl again at the end after everything, with joe as the avatar was a dark turn for sure!
It was baffeling how just a moments of her being away from the laptop changed everything. 💀
I do wish she fought the case but realistically people would walk away for sure so good decision.
The buildup and tension was real for sure! felt like i was handling the computer and being intrusive in someones life.
I love movies that leave a lasting impact and makes me want to think and analyse about it in detail!

I have no qualms in admitting that this masterpiece did surprise me, pleasantly though. I must say I was flabbergasted by Ananya in some scenes. It gives me a feeling of watching fall colours where it is not green everywhere, yet you find it refreshingly green. I give the girl full credit for being intentional in making her choices and living through them. Although I feel she might be a misfit as the regular commercial Hindi cinema heroine, she seems to be well aware of her limitations and strengths, at least in choosing projects.
It is a sad reality that we are part of a digital crisis which might blow us even before climate crisis dooms us. And as of now there is no probable end or solution to it. We have seen the human race move on from Books, Print media, Radio, TV, Computers, Mobile Phones, iPads to smart watches. I can only imagine us going ahead towards digital chips pinned on to us in future. Agreed that this digital outburst has changed the way we learn, communicate, write, do business and navigate through relationships, but I do wonder if it is going to be difficult for me to go back to those days when we used to spend time sitting under a tree watching it rain and smile for hours.

India is a diverse country and a hotbed of culture, pluralism, cuisine and tradition. Storytelling has existed in India since ancient times. Some high profile, well known and narcissistic nexus of writers, directors and actors want to blindly copy the western model of cinema which has little or no resonance. Financial interests have been prioritised instead of risk taking, star value is prioritised over talented method acting and self pity is prioritised over genuine introspection. This is the state of bollywood. Cinematic brilliance is marginalised as arthouse works. They are denied visibility, recognition and funds. The whole lobby connives against them.

Agree with everything. Except I don't think the AI is supposed to be like SJ from Her, It's very clear that there is meant to be a disconnect between Nella and Allen which I actually liked showcasing that despite our awareness we succumb to technology and give away our control.

7:38 u surely arent speaking from personal experience i am sure!!😅😂
Have to say this but i think people are just stupid to say bollywood is dying at this point like forget the massy films but look at the originality across the genres, movies like kill, madgaon express, laapata ladies, maidaan, sector 36, 12th fail(although it released last year but it was almost at the end of december) and now ctrl these all are so original stories. We as audience need to stop being hypocritical first people rant at bollywood for being unoriginal and then when they do such amazing stuffs we barely give it attentioon. (If people gave these movies as much attention as sara, jhanvi and ananya i would definitely say we can make a progress!!)

I have seen couple of movies with same theme but I really liked this hindi version Cntrl. I felt Ananya's acting has actually approved and she acted really well. A lot of unfortunate truth relating to an online life and AI. Loved all the characters and their acting.

CTRL is a good movie. I like its story because it is very realistic about the way we are dependent on the internet and all these apps in today's day and age. And I liked the ending too. I feel it was a realistic choice that Nella makes in the end as most people would often choose to live another day keeping their demons at bay rather than try to fight a giant that can easily crush them.
As for Ananya, she did a good job here. While it can be a disadvantage to her career if she keeps on choosing characters like Nella and Bella as they are pretty much different versions of herself, I am happy she is not choosing much deeper roles that are out of her talent zone just to prove to people she can act only to end up ruining projects. I hope she makes the right choices and keeps on improving as an actor.
