- Join Thuong and I as we cycle from East Nagoya Japan to the nearby mountains for a day of climbing. Today we are on our mountain bikes and plan to climb up to a "secret" ATV dirt road trail.
This is part 1 of today's bike ride where we ride along the bike paths from the city into the Japanese countryside.
Part 2 - Hiromi Rindo dirt road climb 広見林道

The longer rides are the best kinds. Let's us get a feel of what it's like riding over there. We can only dream. :)
I know the focus of this video is the bike ride, but I just wanted to say I love the fun banter between you two. You guys are an awesome couple!
These are amazing to watch while working out, or when I'm curing my own wanderlust, because it's cold, snowy, icy, wet, windy, or just dark. Keep doing them please !
Thanks so much for this outdoor hill climb. I was cycling along on the trainer. Keep it up guys. Cheers!
Awesome ride Cruise! It was great too see what the country side of Japan looks like! Love the longer ride videos for sure! You two crushed it.
Love and enjoy this kind of ride. Feeling like I am there physically riding with you guys while exploring almost every corner of Nagoya. Excellent clip.
Part 2 is even better ;)
@@TwoWheelCruise Yes indeed!
love the longer style clips
Thanks! More on the way 🙂
You are the best youtuber.
I like both, the edited and unedited videos, but there is something therapeutic about these long format videos.
Thanks! :)
I like this type of vid as winding down/bedtime viewing. Very relaxing.
I’m surprised I only watched this now. More of these types of videos please. Much more before you leave.
Check out my pov ride playlist
Great video, excellent format, and well done Thuong!
Perfect weather for long rides
You can’t go wrong with an iPhone.
You two are fun to watch.
Thanks! :)
I love watching these newer cycling videos on my tv. It is 65 inches and the vids are very clear. Love it! I feel like I’m there too. Next best thing to my wish of cycling in Japan. I’ve re-watched some of your newer rides several time already😆
Thanks! Glad to hear that!
I love longer uncut videos! Mainly like this, I can put it on the secondary monitor, and that environment, sound ... mmm :) It doesn't have to be commented all the time. It's all about the environment/feelking from it :)
2 more parts coming from this ride ;)
NICE JOB!!! I am seriously impressed !!!
Thanks for ur motivation Cruise..after seeing ur videos. I decide to travel from Sakae to hirabari with my cycle and I loved it. Because of this , I keep social distancing and avoid subway, u doing grt👍
looks like a great ride guys i love this type of ridding .stay safe guys
I really enjoy your long rides; very useful and enjoyable to ride my bike indoors with the video in front of my bike on monitor....thank you.
It's great to see you two out cycling again. Beautiful scenery. Thuong did awesome on the first half of the ride. Cruise, you almost biffed it...😳. I caught myself saying outloud 'woah'. Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to see the other half...😎👍👌👊👊👊🚴♀️🚴♂️
Thanks! The next part is even better :)
I am a 40+ min video guy. Thanks for uploading during lockdown ♥️.
Thanks! :)
Another great video. Thank you!
great video, love the longer rides.
You guys bossed that climb!
Wow, what a nice ride that would be. Thuong did an awesome job. Looks like a tough climb. As far as the phone issue, the iphone 11's have awesome cameras and do very well at night. Take care and thanks for the excellent videos.
I like the long-ride format - good to watch when cooking! The blue vehicle is a Volkswagen transporter from the 50s or 60s I think. Keep moving you two! Regards from Germany.
Love the full rides use have on my indoor cycling
The scenery is great and you ride a bike well....^^
been cycling with my wife on iron single speed housewife bikes in Nagoya many times in the last 2 decades. Our cycling plan in April in Nagoya was cancelled due to the virus. So good meeting you here on RUclips, letting us see what's going on in Nagoya recently on the roads.
Nice video tour!!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Love your videos!
Thanks! 😁
Yes. Really like it!
Thanks! :)
Love your long vids please stay safe always
Nagoya! Nice!
Thank you for the video rides sir,,Japan is so beautiful
Great video! I am watching now, around 5 mins in, where you ask your viewers to like and comment about the length of the videos.
Yes, I do like these longer videos. They are relaxing and fun to watch. Plus, I imagine for you a little easier, as there will be less editing to do back home, so good for everyone! Lovely day there in Japan!
Thanks! They are definitely much less stressful for me to film / edit :)
Looks like great weather there, always great to see Japan. Its kind of weird but I think I like city rides, its interesting to see. Locally we are still restricted from cycling or unnecessary trips but they might lift that in a couple weeks I'm hoping! Thanks for the videos!
Nice ride. Stay safe always.
Good job guys! Looks like you can go on and on that trail!
Just wait, we're only halfway up and it gets a lot crazier ;)
I have iPhone 11. Great phone, i have it on my bike in light rain with no issues ( have a case for serious rain) video is good and has the wide angle camera option. Battery last a day easily. this is my 3rd iPhone. Wouldn't have anything else now.
The light blue vehicle looks like a very rare retro VW Kombe Truck.
I remember this doing this climb about a year ago or so. there were some parts too technical for us. looking forward to seeing part 2.
Yeah, part 2 gets really tricky 🙂
Nice ride, I love the descent after the Hill LOL
It's a great descent
Excellent video guys!
Yeah, I can not wait to ride, we are still on lockdown...
Being used to riding my 100k every two days and not being able to go out and train is REALLY taking it's toll!!!
It's just horrible, seriously. :(
Great to see you guys can go for rides there.
Take advantage of those moments where you both are NOT working, and don't worry-you'll be able to travel soon and make those changes you were mentioning in previous videos.
Hang in there :-)
Thanks! It was our first time out in a while, so felt good
Your wife consider very good because she didn't stop at all. Keep it up ! :)
Thanks!
Coolest ride ever! The DAM, the forest, amazing views! It was pleasure to watch it, considering that I am in a lockdown, and it is advised not to go out :( ... two bikes await for me: one e-Bike (Cube Acid Hybrid) and Specialized Crux E5 Sport - bought in January 2020 - got to ride it only once :( in Feb when one day was strickingly nice and sunny. Tough times.
Part 2 is even better ;)
Yes. I prefer uncut long rides. Just like some walk videos. If you can get binaural sound recording, even better. If HDR, doubly better. Binaural is a stereo sou d recording where the microphones point sideways. All Sony mobile phones from Z2 have these. Xz2 start having HDR 4K recording.
I need to pump up my bicycle tires. I really miss being a young bicyclist. :) Still waiting for the secret dirt road. :)
wow... good.. 👍👍👍
Nice ride, enjoyed it. I am more concerned about any mishaps (like the post) on the way then from falling sick with the virus. So long as you are not in an enclosed environment with close proximity such as a train/bus/shopping center, the risk is very low..Stay safe and thanks.
love both of you... insprired me much... tks
I suggest that you two get a nice tandem, we love our co-motion.
Sugoi. Wonderfull place and country.
nice ride..
For your phone question, I would check out the Google pixel as well it's still Android and in my personal opinion has a better camera than the iPhone. I think you have to be with SoftBank for the pixel though.
Thanks! And yeah, annoyingly many phones are still limited here to certain providers
More videos please..love from Rajasthan, India.
May you guys stay safe and sound due to COVID 19 👌
Thanks!
I jumped outta my seat when you almost hit that pylon! 😲
too close for comfort 😅
@@TwoWheelCruise I nearly hit one in Noumea, New Caledonia, whilst riding along the coastal cycleway, it was right in the middle of the path and a slate colour like the path. Almost like the local authorities are trying drum up a bit of business for Orthopaedic Surgeons lol.
Love the ride videos Cruise! I’ll email you about the iPhone 11. 👍🏻
Thanks Eli! I was curious about the support there
Almost had a freakin' heart attack when you almost hit that post.
😅😬
8:01 I was more shocked than you at that moment
😂😅
i was thinking that during the livestream. Get Thuong on swift, i think we the people want to see her in the pain cave to XD
It's gonna happen
8:00 That was a real close one! One of the main causes of bicycle accidents where I live. A really fun to watch video.
I have an iPhone 11 and it's very good at taking photos in dark/dimly lit situations. The wide angle lens is very handy. It has some video stability, but don't expect anything fancy. It can handle rain as long as it's not a downpour. If you're used to an iPad then learning to use an iPhone is easy. The only downside is it's size.
Mini heart attack 😬
Its nice lane for bicycle
Lots of people out today 😆
It's so quite and different in Japan
this entire video is ridiculously beautiful
Wait till part 2 😉
Always enjoy these long ride videos.
As far as phones, I’m not against Android especially but I’ve mostly used Apple stuff for a long time. I still have an iPhone 6, iPad Air from 2013 and the original Apple Watch which also still works well. Mostly use it at work or as a HR monitor on the treadmill.
Never had any significant issue with any of them. But they have all lost iOS compatibility as of this year so I’ll have to upgrade all the stuff soon finally. I’m still getting app updates at the moment but when they stop I’ll replace them.
Thanks! I've been a long time windows/android user, so this is a pretty scary jump for me LOL
Nice ride can't wait to see the next. So you running a 2x front chainrings set up. I went with a 2x Shimano set up. Only could fit a 10 speed cassette on my bike was 8 speed. So it gave me the best gear ratio I like. Oh have you tried any oval chainrings yet, like to and see. Maybe one day. Take care stay safe.
I prefer 2x, never tried oval
Good luck with the job situation!
Thanks!
Look for the electric car section in the museum. Oh it'll be the "self charging" section, haha (no such thing, in case you were confused).
I'm hoping you guys get a chance to ride the shimanami kaido (if you haven't already). I was fortunate to ride that last year when i visited Japan and it was a big bucket list of mine. I'm definitely not a cyclist, actually a beginner, but i enjoy the different perception that you get when you're on a bike versus a vehicle. I enjoy your cycling vlogs! greetings from Califronia!
Hopefully one day!
I believe the vehicle is a Volkswagen German made. Minibuses and pickups style popular in the 50 & 60’s.
wow, she's strong ..
Such abandoned places as the Dam always make me wounder what the area looked like back when the projects were first completed. The discoveries as old foundations, stone walls and such in the middle of nowhere always make me wounder.
Definitely, and there's a bunch of places like this
@@TwoWheelCruise Such places I always imagine the figures from the past walking and just being in those areas. It simply makes your remember that there were so many good people that had come before us and help to bring the present to life.
I really like your black & green MTB. Looks like Kawasaki motor cycle 😜
You may want to include timestamps in the Description box for long ride videos. With it RUclips will automatically chop the video timeline into sections/segments. Discovered this done on my Commute video series after marking the road names. Convenient for viewers, plus Google will also use these jump links in their search results.
Great weather, great ride
Thanks for the tip, I'll have to try that!
I miss biking in Japan
I’m about halfway through this video, wondering if you make it all the way without crashing lol.
For me, I love the immersion of these continuous videos. I remember I discovered the channel on a long commute video, I didn’t even realize how long it was until it was over.
Thanks! It's a big change for me since I'm used to just filming bits of a big ride, but I'm glad to hear it because these are way less stressful for me to make :)
Im always enjoying watching the two of you riding and probably the weather there is so nice unlike here in the Philippines Its like free trial in hell LOL.... Ride safeeee:):)
Thanks! Nice weather now, hot and rain soon
Nice,
VW Kombi light truck , half brother to the iconic Combi Van . Petrol consumption and exhaust emissions on original (air cooled) engines is not good, however the van is much sought after by aficionados.
I like the longer rides very much. I'm looking to upgrade my Samsung, the photos and videos are excellent.
I love your long travel videos...Will you get time to repeat the journey to the lake (first +100km ride for Thuong) - you showed us some large cat faces...
Thanks! The cat faces was from Chita ruclips.net/video/weUuLPcHwIY/видео.html
We've done 2 lake Biwa rides so far, but would love to do another one. It would be at least a 4 hour video though, so not sure if my GoPro will last haha
39:00 classic Volkswagen VW kombie with flap down sides. 1970s somewhere maybe.
I thought I was the only one still using thumb shifters on a mountain bike. I'm riding an old bike and seems most of friends back in the day were using the twist shifters. Finally saw her riding from a side angle and her riding position looked fine. I think your camera lens distorts the angles and that's why she always looked like she was sitting way too far back with her legs way out in front of her.
The industry went backwards to Thumb shifters back in the late, late 90's simply because they were less costly to produce and more reliable than grips. Reason being is that to get good grip shifters you had to spend a good amount of money and then they would last forever. Then at the time SRAM being a lesser company bought out the shifter leader "Grip Shift" an relegated that product to the back of the pack of their own shifters. Which is the same thing that the did when the bought the leader in front suspension "Rock Shock". I still have Grips on my XC bike from the 90's and yest they are far faster and extremely accurate in shifting. (On click = one gear) you can even throw the shift the full range of gears and shift the complete cassette in a single quick twist. Privately owned companies tend to be willing to sell to make their fortunes when companies like SRAM will buy out the competition in order to then move up and dominate the market. It's an old story
Now that most MTB are 1x's the actual need for that kind of quick shifting is not all that necessary. Most are more into Enduro and DH where constant shifting is not needed and XC riding is as heavily marketed as it use to be.
Trigger shifters are the way to go 🙂
i love long riding videos. :) i still need to work out more. i still nearly vomit when i ride up hill for to long D: need at least 20 to 30 min break when exhaustion hits
I do that every day to get away from the crowd in Oyama-shi, Tochigi- Ken just North of Tokyo.
thank you ,,i wiil go to toyota mtb hehe
That would be pretty dope to get a video tour of that Toyota museum. Hopefully they would allow cameras.
Need to go one day!
Hey i wont to buy enduro roadbike but i dont know must choose which one can you recommend a road bike for me
Very good effort. How long would you say you were climbing for time-wise?
maybe an hour total.. It's all on the video / strava
That blue car you saw it is a old German Volkswagen station wagon car, it is tradicional in Brazil and here the name is "Kombi" but today it's not manufactured.
I like these videos of longer duration especially now.
I would stay with Android the Pixel would allow you great video footage but with access the whole entire Android apps world.
Brasil aqui. que legal, meus vídeos são em Curitiba, uma cidade brasileira com milhões de ciclistas!
I have an iPhone and I miss my android based phones. Looking at the google phone next. Pictures are amazing on it.
I am curious the choice of bike, you took out two big lovely bouncy mountain bikes ready for some rough and ready dirt trails. Then did a day of nice smooth tarmac!
This is only part 1 of the video where we road to the start of the dirt. Part 2 will get really interesting ;)
how about bone conduction earphone, are they allowed to use it while riding there?
The car is a V W Utility , Thuong doing well considering the hangups with corona virus , and I looking froward to picking up my new Scott gravel bike at June's end ; What is Thuong riding , the colour tells me its a Scott ?
I'd rather the longer rides and I wasn't quite sure about when to , "Lock out" , and when not to , Thanks !
Thanks! It's a BMC www.bmc-switzerland.com/teamelite-03-two-301868.html
Enjoy the new bike!
what kind of strap are you using with your gopro camera on this video capture?
Cheap chest mount
excellent. (brazil)
