Solo Bike Ride in Japan To Abandoned Train Station

- In today's bike ride, join me on a solo ride in Japan to an abandoned train station in the east of Nagoya, from Nagakute to Jokouji Station.
I'm trying out something new with this video, to show more of the full ride for a better immersion experience to feel like you are actually cycling in Japan, so this cycling footage would be good to cycle along to while doing indoor cycling.

I'm trying out a new long ride POV style, let me know what you think! I also made a playlist for POV style videos so you can watch during your indoor rides now 😉 ruclips.net/p/PLnfP1fytwbXOgiXsbv12NP8nPB1JpCaNw
I love watching rides like this, especially in countries or cities I don't know. It helps to get a feel of the place. Going to miss seeing urban Japan in your videos when you move to Vietnam!
Glad you enjoyed it! Gonna have to film as many as I can before leaving ;)
Two Wheel Cruise yep and Vietnam is going to be awesome.
I love this kind of exploration type video, like others have said it feels more relatable or something, like actually being in the town.
I like long relaxing rides in the country side with my gravel bike or mountain bike.
I am still amazed on how fast you can go on your bike
It feels great to be able to do them again :)
@@TwoWheelCruise good for you, but I'd still have to wait a month to get out of quarantine
You do know that he was/is a Pro Cyclist. He's been doing something like this since he was 14-16 years old.
I’ve been watching a lot of these POV cycling videos recently since quarantine started. I find it really calming, and a great way to experience a new city that we don’t have the opportunity to visit right now.
Glad you enjoy it!
Nice clip. Quite relaxing to watch. Thx for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it :)
very nice show my friend. It's reminiscent of the touring type videos, puts us there with you. We felt the tension of the dangerous trafficked roads you were on. Keep it up buddy. (I am watching from Houston, TX. :)
Thanks! 🙂
Please more adventure rides in the Japanese hills and woods, would be nice
I love pov cycling content, also seeing Japan is amazing, please do more of these.
Yes, please, I just love to watch these kind of videos! Thanks for this one!
Glad you like them!
Very enjoyable, Cruise. What a great place. I love locations like that. That road is tough, but what great reward!
love watching you riding a bike with a cool place hope more to see rides like this
Nice relaxing watch. The ride from the city to the countryside was very enjoyable. Its amazing you can get from such a large city out to the wooded countryside by bicycle so fast.
Thanks! :) There are even faster routes into the countryside if I go East instead.
POV style is awesome. Yesterday, I did a long ride through a valley and into the mountains in southern California. Thankfully I found this awesome orange orchard which had a dirt trail running parallel to the main road. The air smelled incredible.
The station looks like a location out of a Studio Ghibli movie :-D
Love these kinds of places :)
Yeah! More videos like this.
32:52 these motorcycle drivers man have so nuch discipline of staying on the lane.
I really enjoyed this longer POV style video. I also really enjoyed the section where you took the camera off the chest mount and showed the viewer around a little bit, it works well in combination with the POV riding. Well done mate, I certainly am interested in more video's like this.
Ah Jōkōji Station! One of the best views from any station in Japan! Nice video
I love these rides! Just enough commentary :) the sound of shifting and clipping in
Awesome, thank you!
absolutely cool video!!!

Thank you for the 40 mins bike vlog japan is such a beautiful country indeed!
Cruise, thanks for the awesome video. You were really cruising. I once had a front chain ring jam up on me before. That’s why I like the 1x8 or more. It’s simpler setup and much easier to maintain. And would definitely like more videos.
Aloha from Maui again! I loved it and look forward to the next one!
Love the ride!
This was awesome!
Quite new to watching your videos, but we love them, so interesting seeing around Japan, you do a fantastic job, and look forward to watching your new ones from Vietnam, Good luck to you both xx
Such a fun video. Please do more like this one.
This was a great companion for riding on the trainer. Thanks!
You're clipping along pretty fast. Cool station. Looks almost abandon. Like the sound of the river. I like the solo ride segment...😀👍👌👊🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️
That is a really nice place, everything is so clean, the weather looks so cool.
super nice views, I love your longer ride videos!
Glad you like them!
I like the run-down look of the buildings over the river, with the old tin roof, and 60's-looking blinds and windows. It looks straight out of a movie.
Really nice idea! Similar to the commute videos, but different scenery :)
also, really nice that first ride in short sleeves after the winter! I can't wait til it's safe to be riding out in the sun again
Love the sty;e of this video too - the commentary, the views (but not the traffic obviously!)
Really enjoyed, I get to see the real Japan, love it. Busy roads though, probably been spoilt recently with all the social isolation. Good luck for the future move.
Dude, you basically living my dream. Living in Japan, riding bike every day. Nice channel.
Oh mate stoked to see you did this ride! Very helpful for my plans to go to Tajimi, scouting lol.. jokoji is awesome
Great area for riding! Haven't been to that cafe in ages
Yes this is nice. Please do more videos like this. It feels like riding in Japan.
Will do!
Loved it, having driven in Japan before I can't resist popping up google maps and following along with you so if I'm ever in that area I can find these place. So yes, Stalker-Chan strikes again! I hope you both are doing well and your move goes well!
Wonderful ride Cruise. Really like the old station, various forgotten industrial buildings.
John
Love riding over here :)
Love that place. People walk along the little path in the morning from the village to hop on the train. It's one of my favorite place to ride to from Nagoya.
Definitely one of the best spots. Also some nice hiking paths nearby
Nice video, I really enjoyed , right here in GA I saw a lot of people riding bikes recently, I been in a small bicycle store close to my house and they were pack really busy , stay safe my friend 🙏 and nice riding 💪
Yea , I like all Your Videos , Long , Short or otherwise , Just keep up the good work and never stop cycling !
Glad you like them!
I honestly thought I had watched all of these longer, uncut rides, but then suddenly got a recommendation of this. I felt like I found a gem! Definitely love this. And that river is gorgeous!
Checkout my POV ride playlist. I started adding my longer ride videos in there ;)
I thought I had watched every video in that playlist but guess not :)
This was a great video, nice job.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very cool. I followed you on Google maps starting at the golf course. Wow so many more golf courses up in those mountains
Yep, golf is really popular here..
Loved it!
:)
I enjoy Sunday rides more if I route/plan my return trip home to catch the tailwind.
Thanks for the video. I was on a trainer n cycled along....just great...entertaining n get to see some Japanese countryside. Pl do make more videos like this if possible.cheers👍🤟
Bro, your real fast! Enjoyed the video 👍
Thanks! :)
Very nice there once you get away from congestion! I was following on a map to see exactly the turns and elevations. Thanks for the post.
It's nice once you get away from the city :)
Beautiful scenery. I think I would had been tired on that trip.
Yes. More like this
:)
Amazing videos! Regards from México!!
Thanks! 😁
We would love to see more of these tours of the country!
more on the way :)
Good video I like more like this one 👍😎
Came to my parents house to quarantine. My bike and other stuff is 300km away and I have no way to go get it back at the moment. This video (loved it, btw) is making me miss my bike even more.
Hope you're reunited soon!
6 C 40 something F here when I took my ride here this morning in CT. Hopefully you and your wife will have better weather in Vietnam
Hey man, I don't think I have ever commented on the channel before, but I really enjoy your content. I think this would be a great addition to your videos. I really enjoyed this style of video and would love to see more longer form videos. Thanks! :)
Thanks for letting me know! More on the way 🙂
That looks soo cool where ... the trip ended :( ... go back there and show us more 'alternative Japan' :)
Sounds like a good idea visiting out of the way destinations. Stimulates interest.
Thanks! :)
I enjoyed the POV style. Neat to see the Japanese countryside. I'm also a car nut and liked seeing all the cars we don't see in the US.
Thanks! There's tons of cool cars here 🙂
Wow! You went to Jokouji! by bike! 😲😲👏 すごいー!Nice solo ride!Cruise! 💪
Often go much further 😅
I do the same thing over here in the states with cutting into the sidewalk whenever its a red light...... sometimes. lol
I love how Japans traffic is like one car apart from each other.
Awesome video. 👍🏻 You’re a lot faster than me. 🤣
Thanks man! Not a problem since the slow rides are good for taking in the views ;)
I miss cycling! Thanks for the video. I feel like I'm cycling lol (cant ride due to covid)😢
Glad it helped! Check out my new POV cycling playlist ruclips.net/p/PLnfP1fytwbXOgiXsbv12NP8nPB1JpCaNw
Stay safe bro during corona virus outbreak 🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍🔥🔥
Love this kind of cycling tour especially in Nagoya. If I were you, I'd rather go by the side streets to avoid the frequent red lights.
I usually try to when I can, but don't know any good ones along this route.
Sir, I did commute on my bike for a week in India Mumbai about 64 km o/w approx almost a year back and oh my Lord I saved a hell lot of money then I thought . I've seen your videos I went to a good flashback
Genuinely love your videos
It's like one of your 'old school' videos! The solo ride! It's been awhile😁 Btw, I have exactly the same 20C rule. It's the way of the pros, and the only way to go. I'm a big fan of the arm warmers! I sometimes see people here in Toronto in the spring riding in shorts and short sleeves when it's 9 or 10C (or lower)!!! I just don't understand what's wrong with them? LOL!
Hope you and Thuong are doing well, keeping busy, and still remembering to enjoy the simple/little things in life.
Thanks!
I get really irritated when I see people ride in shorts/short sleeves in sub 15 weather 😅
I hate any weather above 15°C.
It would be cool to see you do an adventure ride going down new roads you don't know where they lead. my wife and I enjoy discovering new roads in the dirt or wherever.sometimes its a dead end but sometimes we find some cool and interesting places we wouldn't have found otherwise. hearing your natural reactions I think would be fun. also, I imagine this is how it would be once you guys move to Vietnam.
Good idea! Most videos will be like that I imagine once we move
i always dreamed about going to japan for a while and cycling there. Can it be that there are most of the time normal streets you can cycle on where also is traffic? I dont like to cycle where cars are that much...
Nice video. 8:07 not only are those useless, but the drivers in Nagakute take pride in ignoring them, and they are like ice in the rain!
Japan loves to put useless, yet extremely dangerous things on their roads / pedestrian paths 😂
Man, have you ever seen NY ? they paint over whole freaking lanes. It gives me shivers just looking at it, an ocean away.
😬
Nice
Thanks
👍
Nice video man.
Today it's a 4°c in Reykjavik, Iceland and I saw one riding in short.
Thanks! And yikes, that sounds cold!
Siguður Einar Traustason I dig Cruise's vlogs like this one but some day, I hope to shoot one of my own in your beautiful 🇮🇸 where I've been three times already.
þetta reddast
@@TwoWheelCruise It does and with the wind blowing it felt like -2 to me.
Your not the only 1 with a broken left shifter, I put my bike into Halfords for a repair a day before lockdown; 3 weeks ago... Bad Timing! Part delayed due to closed factory.
😥
nice safe ride sir...
Thanks! :)
@@TwoWheelCruise your welcome sir..
Cool ride. That was cool you bought your wife a MTB.I’m from Saigon move to America in the 70’s my wife is from Yokohama we live in Hawaii .Travel to Japan every years to visit family.I have YETI sb5.5 the little Nihon have sb5+ .hopefull,to run in to you guys one day in Nagoya .before all this BS going down.now we just hunker down.try to stay in Japan if you can???
Love the HQ videos! What's that creak I hear sometimes? The bike? Hopefully an easy fix!
Also, I live in Toronto and if I went by your temperature rules for shorts wearing, I'd have to wait until June! Its 7 degrees here today and I thought about putting some on for the morning ride! (I decided against)
Best to save your knees and avoid the shorts then ;)
With such a big car industry I thought Japan wouldn't have as much european cars. Pretty cool.
There's always lost of car surprises here :)
That was a pretty swift ride. Just to point out that the Jokoji Station is certainly not abandoned. That massive building on the left side of the bridge is an abandoned hotel, the emblematic Chisotaro (千歳楼) Hotel. It's one of the most popular haunted sites in Aichi. Many local young people used to (still do?) go there to spend the night for a test of courage (肝だめし)
Thanks for the info, I didn't realize it was a popular haunted attraction 😅
Im gearing up to do some of these once golden week comes
Be careful with the traffic then!
@@TwoWheelCruise hopeing with social distancing that there might be less.....
For the last 3 years I did Noto Penninsula, this year the plan was 1000km Fukuoka, not sure if I will cancel yet or not, will see out this virus malarky pans out. Some of my stops have already cancelled, so I might bring a one man tent and Rambo it
Nice ride... Is the slight squeaky sounds coming from your cleats pedal?
Thanks! BB.. 3 years old... :/
Two Wheel Cruise BB was my guess. I just found your channel. Great stuff.
yeah i like these... try adding metrics on your videos (speed, cadence, distance, temperature, etc)... just need the FIT file for the overlay on video using Garmin Virb Edit app
Thinking about it, but worried it might be distracting from the natural sights
This will work, be consistent give it time, keep the content coming. You probably hit 30 miles per hour at some points.
in Malaysia we cant ride like this because of restriction movement due to covid 19, youre very lucky, i miss outside so much
Hope things improve soon!
I hope you returned by continuing along the path where you ended the video. Much more pleasant ride but not as fast as the highway. That station area is an odd sight.
What kind of camera do you use? Video and the ride is so smooth. 😁
Great film! Love to see more. Might you fix Suika-chan's FD lever or will you just leave it as you are leaving Japan? Anyway, this style of longer ride vids is cool but maybe go further (distance) and edit it down, or maybe add more commentary during filming pointing out tiny little things that are normal but so Japanese.
Thanks! Not sure if it's worth fixing, but will see..
Wanted to see you someday on NHKworld "Cycle Around Japan " as a host cyclist. Ganbatte..👍😊
Maybe one day :)
Did you use your GoPro camera? If so what was the setting? Thanks!
Yep, but I also post-edit, so it's a mix of things.
I hope to one day be as fit as you.
spend more time with your bike and surely you can ;)
lol... it is a one way road... just one way at a time... :P
Hopefully you can also make videos about surplus bike/part shops 😊
#filipinofanhere
God bless and keep safe.
Interesting perspective of on road system. Is the peak business traffic times mayhem on those roads or does public transport take care of that?
With the single lanes, traffic gets backed up really bad in some places
