You know, the Patriots are the most disciplined team ever in the NFL. They don't stupidly cause a lot of offensive/defensive penalties like other teams do that hurts their chance of winning games. This is one reason why they keep winning superbowls.
People can say what they want but this right here is why they make the big bucks they are coming up with this stuff on the fly, mid game and applying it. Not easy things to do
Well actually the split wide 22 personnel is the same type of offense the ran against Denver in an afc championship game a few years ago, they hadn’t practiced it and they made few adjustments to line ups and rode the play. These things that his coordinators come up with are plays bill thought of and ran years ago, he’s thought of it all. GOAT
I hate saying this but we just have to admit that the pats are the smartest team, of your not football smart your not winning games and if you want to beat the pats you’ll have to outsmart them. That’s pretty dang hard
Bill and Josh are so smart and situational. Tom Brady is so clutch and cool. That is a combination that is all most unbeatable. Amazing run for any team and sport.
They are watching film just like every other team does. The problem is Bill and the gang are playing chess and the rest seem to be playing checkers. I'm not a Pats fan by any means but you really have to admire their consistency. They continually bring people in and supplant them into their culture and it works over and over again. Tom is still playing at a high level. It will be interesting to see if there is any fall off after Tom finally leaves in 2029 lol.
Josh was given WAY to much responsibility, way to much work, way to little support. Mike Shanahan was fired for his poor GM decisions and then you turn around and give the same responsibility to a 32 year old. It was stupid on behalf of Bowlen, but it was probably the time where he illness started to have a major impact. The HC Josh gave us one of the best drafts in 2010 and that was the core of the team up to the 2013 SB run. Tebow was rough but Josh saw predicted that he could be a effective QB. Too bad that Elway gave him one of the worst HCs for the task of developing young QBs. Tebow is the only young QB that has been around Fox that has not failed outright
These two men talking bout football and how to adjust on the fly in game and find ways to create mismatches is pure genius. It truly shows that there is levels to this stuff.
Same play 3 times in a row. Rams had no answer. Goes to show you that sometimes getting overly creative can hurt you (*cough cough, mcvay). You just gotta find the thing that works and stick with it sometimes.
Just once. The Rams also had one drive, but the Patriots made that one huge play, and Jason McCourty made all the difference. Imagine if he doesn't cover all that ground, we'd probably be watching a video of McVay giving a breakdown of the Goff to Cooks TD pass.
For what it's worth, one might consider that running the same play three times in a row is its own form of creativity. After all, most teams wouldn't expect the offensive team to run the same play twice in a row, or worse, dare to run it three times in a row. So, it's almost a case of the most unexpected play being the one you ran the previous play.
crucisnh I mean they also had different people on the field, hit a different player each time based on the defense, and flipped the formation. Same play but... not really. Goes to show the level the Pats are on vs everybody else. This is also a good demo of why Brady is so elite. It only works because he’s on the same page even with on the fly adjustments.
Before the game, Belichick and Rams' coach McVay are chatting and pleasantries are exchanged. McVay harps on how impressed he is with the Patriots ability to change their identity from game to game. I always find remarks like this very interesting. The opposition knows what you're capable of and still can't do enough to win it. No one on the planet saw a 13-3 score going into this game. To me this is the sort of thing that cements Belichick as THE man in the football world. His influence is pervasive. Getting anyone to understand where you're coming from is not that difficult. Getting them to understand then implement with precision when it changes from week to week is that whole other level. This video is a great example of Belichick's abilities being told through Josh McDaniels. Great stuff!
The whole game was a chess match. You heard how much respect Daniel and Belichick has for the way Phillips and the Rams had kept them shutdown the whole game. They did a masterful job of adapting on this one drive, but it was close the whole game.
Growing up with my uncle coaching and being by his side every game this is so satisfying as it reminds me of those tight games as a young kid that my uncle drew up plays for that🤧
I don't think so. McDaniels isn't A leader. He's A good oc but he's not head coach material.... He's not a leader of men. A lot of players don't like him and if their is no respect there is no victory.
This shows one of the differences between Pat's and other teams. Ab, obj, or other receivers would be like "how am I not in the game so close to the end zone just throw it up I got it" meanwhile Edelman gets told to be ready and hes like "run it in" because all hes thinking about is that W.
The fact McDaniels can adapt and change it up is the kind of offense The Raiders needs because so many times they become to one dimensional I think McDaniels would be great head coach for the Raiders
Yeah, I love hearing him talk about anything. He acts reserved, but that's just so he doesn't give away his secrets. He's actually a very passionate football fan.
