      I believe it's mostly because the selection committees for those teams are all former Jets players, or from other teams that the Pats have beaten over the years. Still, That comment kinda bummed me out the same way they always say Brady hasn't played with any HOFers and for the same reasons and I think it sucks. Guys like Troy Brown, Kevin Faulk, Deion Branch, Matt Light, and many others, not just WR's, TE's or, RB's but the OL Brady has played with guys that deserve way better than the talking heads and the league have narrated.

    • @Astraay

      @@b66docos I honestly think it's probably less about bias then it is the side-effect of the true "team-first" mentality. The culture there is all about leaving your numbers and personal agenda at the door and doing everything you can to help the team win.

      @@Astraay Right, that is the case, the #'s are supposed to take care of them selfs, it's the league and the press that give out the awards, not the team. For real though, you think a 6x pro bowl 5x All-Pro 3 x SBchamp in Matt Light is anything less than an HOFer? Branch has 2 SB rings and an SB MVP award. The stats all speak for themselves with a lot of guys that Brady played with and for some reason the talking heads like to leave the stuff out. Just sayin.

    • @Ironfangzu
      @Ironfangzu 5 лет назад +36

      @@b66docos Basically the Pats have beaten not only trash teams like the Jets, but have been the unbending obstacle that has stood in front of other good teams for almost two decades, preventing them from reaching greatness. Seattle, Indy, Pittsburgh are all teams that might have enjoyed notable dynasties. But the Patriots were always there, denying them the biggest prize. Now all those ex players who lost to the Patriots are on committees and working as talking heads on every channel. You can clearly see who the haters are. You can see their bitterness. (I see you there, Marshall Faulk!) Why are they haters? Because they know that Belichick, Brady and the Pats stopped them from reaching so many goals.

    • @b66docos
      @b66docos 5 лет назад +5

      @@Astraay, You know, I read your comment again I realize your point reinforces what I'm saying even more because you're right! They are down on that whole sacrificing for your team thing, in spite of the fact that those are things they have all been brought to believe. Those are the qualities they need and it's what they work towards their entire careers. What you said exposes them even more, that if the Pat's are doing it, it's evil. Can you imagine being so filled with jealousy that you would contradict everything you spent the whole first half of your life trying to become just so you can throw dirt on your opponent! Sad!
      I love it because I can only imagine how red they get knowing Brady doesn't even acknowledge it and just goes out plays the game as unrattled as his first game as a starter against Indy. Awesome.
      Keep on keeping on Bro! Somethings gotta give right. Have a great night.

I understand most of us just want to see 20 yard rushes, 25 yard catches. But so many of us never pay attention to the other side of the game. Bill Belichick stopped their offensive scheme by using 6-2 on the defensive line and cover 3 which stopped the rams run game and play action pass game with one play. The rams did 12 personnel 90% of the time which lead the nfl by a significant margin. By doing this the defensive had no way of knowing if they were going to run the ball or do a play action pass. If they played zone the rams would run the ball for a 15 yard gain. If they played say a 5-2 front the rams would throw the ball for an easy completion. After the Super Bowl teams saw what Belichick did and used the same play he did against the rams in the 2019 season and ofc it worked. That’s why the rams are a shell of what they used to be. The rams coach is a genius but do is Belichick.

      Same here, buddy. Remember the Super Bowl against the Bears? I was stationed at Alameda NAS at the time. Went with my three daughters to a friend of mine who I served with aboard my first boomer. Sam's wifes parents were from Scotland and were visiting. By half time, Sam was asleep in his recliner, Liz was in the kitchen making some snacks, Liz's mom was reading stories to my three daughters and Liz and Sam's two sons. Her dad and I were the only ones still watching the game. He looks at me and in a very strong Scots accents says "So, this is your exciting American Football." I initially met Liz's parents just after I had transferred from the boomer I served on with Sam to a new construction fast attack. My daughter Bethany had just been born and Liz and Sam and her parents had been up to visit her at the Naval Hospital at Subase Groton. Liz's dad came up to me and said "Aye, she's a wee bonnie lass." Beth still asks me to this day, 40 years later, if she is still a wee bonnie lass.

    Say what you will about this game, but i'd rather have a game that is 3-3 with 5 minutes left than a game that is 31-14 with another quarter left and one team is just killing the clock. It was anybodies ball game for 95% of the time with explosive players on each side of the ball that could have quickly changed the outcome. I understand how people who just got into football could see this being a letdown considering the Pats-Chiefs and Saints-Rams were much higher scoring games that went to O.T. But to anyone who's watched football since the last time these two teams played in the Superbowl, they most likely enjoyed the defensive showdown. "Offense sells tickets to the casual fan" and that's not anyone's fault, it just shows how long you've been a fan of the sport.

      "i'd rather have a game that is 3-3 with 5 minutes left than a game that is 31-14 with another quarter left and one team is just killing the clock." Unless it's the Patriots behind in a 31-14 game with a quarter left. Because then they're in good position to win in classic Patriots fashion!

      I've been watching football on a regular basis since I was 10 years old in 1999, and I am far from a casual fan. I know exciting football when I see it and that was not it. Exciting football has a mixture of both good offense and defense. This game only had good defense while both teams played shitty offense, and that makes for a boring game. Punt after punt is not fun to watch.

      @@ibn1989 A fair point. I'd argue that since the rams had 250 + yards of offense and the Pat's had above 400 it was far from bad offense. But the 3rd down conversion was abysmal and lots of punting was done by both teams. But this is Wade Phillip's vs Bill Belichick it was not ineptitude it was strategic risk taking. The Patriots were going cover 0 in the 4th quarter of the superbowl in a tie game. That is exciting in my book.

    I'm a Bengals fan, so I had no dog in this fight, and I LOVED the game. The longer it went on without a single snap being taken in the red zone at either end, the more I felt it favored New England, because the difference would be made by the tiniest thing, the smallest detail. And that's where Bill Belichick shines above every other HC.

    There are such great life lessons to be learned from this 2018 Patriots team
    Never give up. You'll have doubters, bullies, relatives, teachers, bosses telling you it's impossible, that your dreams are a microcosm of your larger past failures. Block it out. Block it out just like Bill does when he gets grilled at the podium after a tough loss. Block it out like Tom does when the media pesters him about his age, his throwing ability, his agility. Focus on you, your strengths, the daily activities that feed into your passions. Consistency and mental toughness are the keys to success, whether it's in football or something else.
    It's easy to hate the Patriots because of their success. But these guys honestly play every year as if they have zero trophies. Did you see Belichick giddy yelling "we're champs man!" I have NEVER seen him so excited for a victory ever and this is number six! They hit the reset button every year and attack things day by day, week by week. NFL Turning Point was dead on when it keyed in on Brady's statement in week 3 about it being "a number of things, not just one." Your life, who you are as a person is the sum of the work you put into the things you love. There is no singular answer.
    This is why I'm a Patriots fan. I have goals separate from football, but these guys are the ULTIMATE motivators, showing just what can happen with hard-work, passion, guts, and determination. Social media has made the world a noisier place, but you can narrow your focus and achieve those dreams. And at the end of the day, forget bragging to the haters. Don't do it to prove them wrong. Do it to prove you right.

    The piece of Slater's speech to the team still gets me. That and his moment on the field with his former roommate, Jules, when he asks him if he is the MVP. His reaction says everything about him. He is such a great leader and a great man! This team is very much like that. It's all about the team.

    It was interesting hearing the talk. On the Rams sideline they were trying to pump each other up-"You can do it !" etc. On the Pats sidelines the players were talking about the details of each play. They knew EXACTLY what they were doing.

Stop him, that's what the Patriots did. Right down to the wire. They studied for the test and passed. Strike it up.

    Honestly my favourite Superbowl, it was a masterclass by Bill Belichick and the Patriots, the Rams were heavy favourites but not ready for the tactics they faced. Possibly the most disciplined performance by a team I have ever seen, no WAY the Patriots win on paper but they stalled and stalled, every man did his job. Great football.
