"While [Belichick's] players don't often make the All-Pro Team, they are all pros." 13:00 I feel like this statement, more than anything, sums up the Patriots.
I believe it's mostly because the selection committees for those teams are all former Jets players, or from other teams that the Pats have beaten over the years. Still, That comment kinda bummed me out the same way they always say Brady hasn't played with any HOFers and for the same reasons and I think it sucks. Guys like Troy Brown, Kevin Faulk, Deion Branch, Matt Light, and many others, not just WR's, TE's or, RB's but the OL Brady has played with guys that deserve way better than the talking heads and the league have narrated.
@@b66docos I honestly think it's probably less about bias then it is the side-effect of the true "team-first" mentality. The culture there is all about leaving your numbers and personal agenda at the door and doing everything you can to help the team win.

The stats all speak for themselves with a lot of guys that Brady played with and for some reason the talking heads like to leave the stuff out. Just sayin.

Now all those ex players who lost to the Patriots are on committees and working as talking heads on every channel. You can clearly see who the haters are. You can see their bitterness. I like how Jason McCourty makes one of the best defensive plays of any super bowl and just gets up and runs back to the line of scrimmage to get ready for the next play.
It seemed like he was being very careful of what he said, and was wary of McVay’s praise, like he thought McVay was trying to get him to admit to part of the game plan or something

I hope most people watching this realize what the NFL films have done. They went in detail and showed you how exciting this game was from a defensive point of view. I understand most of us just want to see 20 yard rushes, 25 yard catches. But so many of us never pay attention to the other side of the game. Can't call yourself a fan when you only want to see one side. But i get it, it was your only time of the year that you watched a football game.

Even the commentators were sarcastic and bored. The defense from these teams weren’t even great, they just both had shitty offenses the entire game.
Yes. And it was Gilmore’s primary responsibility. Gilmore also gave Chargers an easy touchdown in the Divisional. As brilliant as Gilmore supposedly is, he’s subject to momentary lapses in zone coverage. But few people see his mistakes because he’s nowhere near his man.

Russ Gallagher And that’s truly part of why I wish they weren’t so hated, they bring us Super Bowls that you can genuinely think “this isn’t over” until it’s over, whereas so many other Super Bowls even this century did.
@Russ Gallagher this game should of been at least 20 - 3 if not for that tipped INT in the first quarter, momentum would've been great with new england

I don't know how he does it. I believe he could have been a great defensive player in the patriots secondary. Maybe they just protect him because he's so essential to the special teams? I wouldn't be surprised. He's the guy, or the second guy there every time. Perhaps he just got gifted with coverage ability on punts, and he couldn't hack it back there, but he certainly seems athletic, fast and smart enough.

Listening to these players analyzing and adjusting the Jason McCourty coverage in real time shows just how intelligent a Patriots coached team is. They go for football smarts when they look for players.
I think for the most part, NFL pros are extremely intelligent. It's an incredibly competitive industry and along with being a fantastic athlete, you have to think the game. You're right though - Belichick puts a higher-than-standard emphasis on smarts.
Can we acknowledge how perfect James Devlin was all game (and all season)?! Best fullback in the NFL. If the all-pro teams still had a fullback slot he would be one of them.
This is by far the best NFL film clip i have ever seen. They made it so personal by adding all these mic'd conversations that we don't hear in superbowl. It made me so proud of the Brotherhood of Patriots. Love these guys, every one of them!
They had time to personallize it because relatively little happened on the field. They really did a good job of hyping the Defense though, which rarely gets as much as they deserve!
Patriot's defense was stellar! To hold a team that averaged 32.9 PPG during the regular season, to only 3 points, was amazing! Pats D rose to the occasion!!!
lions fan think that pats used their blue print when lions ran the same defense as bill belichik an still loss cause pats defense is better and lions still loss and never ad a blue print to beat them
Bill Belichick stopped their offensive scheme by using 6-2 on the defensive line and cover 3 which stopped the rams run game and play action pass game with one play. The rams did 12 personnel 90% of the time which lead the nfl by a significant margin. By doing this the defensive had no way of knowing if they were going to run the ball or do a play action pass. If they played zone the rams would run the ball for a 15 yard gain. If they played say a 5-2 front the rams would throw the ball for an easy completion. After the Super Bowl teams saw what Belichick did and used the same play he did against the rams in the 2019 season and ofc it worked. That’s why the rams are a shell of what they used to be. The rams coach is a genius but do is Belichick.

Same here, buddy. Remember the Super Bowl against the Bears? I was stationed at Alameda NAS at the time. Went with my three daughters to a friend of mine who I served with aboard my first boomer. Sam's wifes parents were from Scotland and were visiting. By half time, Sam was asleep in his recliner, Liz was in the kitchen making some snacks, Liz's mom was reading stories to my three daughters and Liz and Sam's two sons. Her dad and I were the only ones still watching the game. He looks at me and in a very strong Scots accents says "So, this is your exciting American Football." I initially met Liz's parents just after I had transferred from the boomer I served on with Sam to a new construction fast attack. My daughter Bethany had just been born and Liz and Sam and her parents had been up to visit her at the Naval Hospital at Subase Groton. Liz's dad came up to me and said "Aye, she's a wee bonnie lass." Beth still asks me to this day, 40 years later, if she is still a wee bonnie lass.
27:40 “That sliver of space was all Gronkowski needed to get open.” That shows you the greatness of Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. That is NOT OPEN no matter how you slice it. A split second quicker reaction by any of the three defenders in the area and that’s a batted ball or a pick. That cutthroat precision is what makes them the greatest QB-TE tandem in history
Their problem was that so much of their offense is dependent on the run game. That is when Mcvay's play-calling and Goff's execution become so much more efficient. With Todd Gurley out they were struggling to run the ball and the whole offense was struggling as a result.
I love how Donald would always trash talk thuney on fighting him one on one, then when he finally did thuney won all 3 of the one on one match ups. Shows that he lets his actions do the talking.

Its stupid. Its stupid that even with all of these situation, Brady, Belichick and that whole orginization still managed to win yet another title, the jealousy is unreal, but I'd give everything to have what they have. Total respect.
Say what you will about this game, but i'd rather have a game that is 3-3 with 5 minutes left than a game that is 31-14 with another quarter left and one team is just killing the clock. It was anybodies ball game for 95% of the time with explosive players on each side of the ball that could have quickly changed the outcome. I understand how people who just got into football could see this being a letdown considering the Pats-Chiefs and Saints-Rams were much higher scoring games that went to O.T. But to anyone who's watched football since the last time these two teams played in the Superbowl, they most likely enjoyed the defensive showdown. "Offense sells tickets to the casual fan" and that's not anyone's fault, it just shows how long you've been a fan of the sport.
"i'd rather have a game that is 3-3 with 5 minutes left than a game that is 31-14 with another quarter left and one team is just killing the clock." Unless it's the Patriots behind in a 31-14 game with a quarter left. Because then they're in good position to win in classic Patriots fashion!
I've been watching football on a regular basis since I was 10 years old in 1999, and I am far from a casual fan. I know exciting football when I see it and that was not it. Exciting football has a mixture of both good offense and defense. This game only had good defense while both teams played shitty offense, and that makes for a boring game. Punt after punt is not fun to watch.
@romaneeconti02 Dude all the 10 points to win the game 13-3 were in the fourth with under 6 minutes left so yes it was any body's game the Pats just made the plays when it mattered!
@@ibn1989 A fair point. I'd argue that since the rams had 250 + yards of offense and the Pat's had above 400 it was far from bad offense. But the 3rd down conversion was abysmal and lots of punting was done by both teams. But this is Wade Phillip's vs Bill Belichick it was not ineptitude it was strategic risk taking. The Patriots were going cover 0 in the 4th quarter of the superbowl in a tie game. That is exciting in my book.
This game was amazing, an actual defensive slug fest. Just watching the highlights can make it seem like 2 inept offenses but to me this was way more tense than a 54-51 game
Who wants to see a yards game with little resistance? Just boring and have to come down to the last possession. NFL tried so hard for a Rams and Chiefs Superbowl and it didn't happen. Saints kinda got robbed/blew it while the Patriots kept fighting despite the BS penalties in the 4th quarter on the Pats CB: JC. Jackson and the holding by the Chiefs defense
It was super tense indeed. The slightest mistake and it was goodbye to that win. I'm so glad my Pats prevailed in the end, but I know it could've gone the other way.
I love how no one talks about the Eagles almost blatantly taking Cooks out early in the last Super Bow, or the Jaguars very blatantly taking out Gronk the game before that. The longer it went on without a single snap being taken in the red zone at either end, the more I felt it favored New England, because the difference would be made by the tiniest thing, the smallest detail. And that's where Bill Belichick shines above every other HC. I've seen plenty of boring Super Bowls. This was definitely not one of them. This was a fantastic game to watch. Ur right. Mcvay tried to play reverse psychology, but then he was talking to his staff saying "I'm excited to see what they're planning to do". Once you lose sight of what you need to do to win, the game is over.

In addition to not giving up any points in both cases the Patriots defense got themselves off the field and won time of possession in the first half. There are such great life lessons to be learned from this 2018 Patriots team Never give up. You'll have doubters, bullies, relatives, teachers, bosses telling you it's impossible, that your dreams are a microcosm of your larger past failures. Block it out. Block it out just like Bill does when he gets grilled at the podium after a tough loss. Block it out like Tom does when the media pesters him about his age, his throwing ability, his agility. Focus on you, your strengths, the daily activities that feed into your passions. Consistency and mental toughness are the keys to success, whether it's in football or something else. It's easy to hate the Patriots because of their success. But these guys honestly play every year as if they have zero trophies. Did you see Belichick giddy yelling "we're champs man!" I have NEVER seen him so excited for a victory ever and this is number six! They hit the reset button every year and attack things day by day, week by week. NFL Turning Point was dead on when it keyed in on Brady's statement in week 3 about it being "a number of things, not just one." Your life, who you are as a person is the sum of the work you put into the things you love. There is no singular answer. This is why I'm a Patriots fan. I have goals separate from football, but these guys are the ULTIMATE motivators, showing just what can happen with hard-work, passion, guts, and determination. Social media has made the world a noisier place, but you can narrow your focus and achieve those dreams. And at the end of the day, forget bragging to the haters. Don't do it to prove them wrong. Do it to prove you right.
I've never been a Patriots fan but this was a great video. My favorite part after the game - 36:18 Edelman: "Hey VB" and goes for a high five. VB: "Ohhhh" - insists on a hug and asks - "Are you happy?"

The piece of Slater's speech to the team still gets me. That and his moment on the field with his former roommate, Jules, when he asks him if he is the MVP. His reaction says everything about him. He is such a great leader and a great man! This team is very much like that. It's all about the team.
It was interesting hearing the talk. On the Rams sideline they were trying to pump each other up-"You can do it !" etc. On the Pats sidelines the players were talking about the details of each play. They knew EXACTLY what they were doing.

I feel like this statement, more than anything, sums up the Patriots.
@@Astraay Right, that is the case, the #'s are supposed to take care of them selfs, it's the league and the press that give out the awards, not the team. For real though, you think a 6x pro bowl 5x All-Pro 3 x SBchamp in Matt Light is anything less than an HOFer? Branch has 2 SB rings and an SB MVP award. The stats all speak for themselves with a lot of guys that Brady played with and for some reason the talking heads like to leave the stuff out. Just sayin.
@@b66docos Basically the Pats have beaten not only trash teams like the Jets, but have been the unbending obstacle that has stood in front of other good teams for almost two decades, preventing them from reaching greatness. Seattle, Indy, Pittsburgh are all teams that might have enjoyed notable dynasties. But the Patriots were always there, denying them the biggest prize. Now all those ex players who lost to the Patriots are on committees and working as talking heads on every channel. You can clearly see who the haters are. You can see their bitterness. (I see you there, Marshall Faulk!) Why are they haters? Because they know that Belichick, Brady and the Pats stopped them from reaching so many goals.
@@Astraay, You know, I read your comment again I realize your point reinforces what I'm saying even more because you're right! They are down on that whole sacrificing for your team thing, in spite of the fact that those are things they have all been brought to believe. Those are the qualities they need and it's what they work towards their entire careers. What you said exposes them even more, that if the Pat's are doing it, it's evil. Can you imagine being so filled with jealousy that you would contradict everything you spent the whole first half of your life trying to become just so you can throw dirt on your opponent! Sad!
I love it because I can only imagine how red they get knowing Brady doesn't even acknowledge it and just goes out plays the game as unrattled as his first game as a starter against Indy. Awesome.

Can't call yourself a fan when you only want to see one side. But i get it, it was your only time of the year that you watched a football game.

Great great play
P Pumpkin not what the numbers say 🤷🏽♂️ every defense has lapses
only because it was a poorly timed pass...
The best part of that Jason Mccourty save was his reaction. INSTANTLY gets up, doesn't celebrate, taunt, just goes back to the sidlelines
Barack Obama patriot way sir. but their actions and not just words spoke true too. some leaders talk the talk but don't walk the walk. this guy did both. maybe something to learn from even if one is retired from office. act with your decisions like a leader. that's the issues. then talk the talk too like a true leader.

I don't know how he does it. I believe he could have been a great defensive player in the patriots secondary. Maybe they just protect him because he's so essential to the special teams? I wouldn't be surprised. He's the guy, or the second guy there every time. They had time to personallize it because relatively little happened on the field. They really did a good job of hyping the Defense though, which rarely gets as much as they deserve!

Patriot's defense was stellar! To hold a team that averaged 32.9 PPG during the regular season, to only 3 points, was amazing! Pats D rose to the occasion!!!
they used the bears blue print cause they held them to 6 points
lions fan think that pats used their blue print when lions ran the same defense as bill belichik an still loss cause pats defense is better and lions still loss and never ad a blue print to beat them
Bill Belichick stopped their offensive scheme by using 6-2 on the defensive line and cover 3 which stopped the rams run game and play action pass game with one play.

"i'd rather have a game that is 3-3 with 5 minutes left than a game that is 31-14 with another quarter left and one team is just killing the clock." Unless it's the Patriots behind in a 31-14 game with a quarter left. Because then they're in good position to win in classic Patriots fashion!
Slashman007 unless the Pats have the 14 points and your gonna witness another great comeback👍
Jarred Golf “10 points might win the game.”
New England taking notes
The McCourty brothers are awesome. Always doing community work, and that should be appreciated.#NFL
BeastMode 21 They didn’t even want that as long as Brady still there.
I loved how the Pats just went old school style and won. But yeah I loved this game over all, super tense throughout.
Agreed
i feel sorry for brandin cooks. lost 2 superbowls in a row. cant imagine the pain
The real pain was knowing you where once on that great team.
You ever heard of the early 90's Bills, but yeah fuked up, felt sry for Moss too.
Manny Mota Just wasn’t meant to be ig 🤷🏽♂️
I love how no one talks about the Eagles almost blatantly taking Cooks out early in the last Super Bow, or the Jaguars very blatantly taking out Gronk the game before that. Apparently nothing dodgy ever happens against the Patriots, but other way 'round guarantee it would've been the headline for a week.
Wonder how different that Super Bowl would've been had the Patriots not lost their only deep threat.
@@Shaunodon95 wtf are u talking about? Im a pats fan and cooks hit wasnt dirty at all. He didnt see the dude and got hit from behind. U sound super butthurt.
I'm a Bengals fan, so I had no dog in this fight, and I LOVED the game.
When Gronkowski made that catch down to the 2- or 3-yard line, I knew the Patriots had won it.
Crazy how some are saying 48 was more exciting
It’s funny the Seahawks are known for making the dumbest play call in super bowl history and not their super bowl championship
Dan the Man y’all need a new QB
yep seen way worse SB's.. ravens-giants, seahawks-steelers, seahawks-broncos... hell, I thought Rams- Titans was a terrible game, but people romanticize the last play and say it was a good one? Not from what I remember
@@mustacheman7169 well…they got exactly that
McVay: "I respect you, Coach."
Belichick: "He's mine."
Or -
McVay: "I respect you, Coach."
Belichick: "We've already won!"
the game was over when Belichick and McVay had that conversation during warm-ups................
Lol Mcvay kissing his ass before an L.
Yup little fanboy
Ur right. Mcvay tried to play reverse psychology, but then he was talking to his staff saying "I'm excited to see what they're planning to do". Once you lose sight of what you need to do to win, the game is over.
Hahaha......I had that same feeling. Although I loved the respect Coach Mcvay has for Coach Bellicheck but I can't help but think that even Coach Bellicheck felt after that conversation he had the win. It just felt like there was too much admiration. There's a time and place to show your appreciation and admiration for someone, and just before the biggest game of your life is not that time.
This super bowl doesn't count.

The Real Jay Stone every time it was fair. Look up history. Don’t believe it’s just the pats that did spygate, which was not illegal. Everyone did. And many coaches admitted to it
@loc power #lasergate Oh wait that wasn't the Pats so who cares?
@@artorigus19 yeah in the chiefs game someone was pointing a laser at tom Brady and the media never told anyone, but i bet if it was in Foxborough, there will be so many headlines on it
I love when Tommy Boy, just threw his hands up , and said "why don't we just kick the field goal"...
He could have demanded to go for it to pad his stats, but he valued the win more than anything else.
Something about a defense like this ,that is like a symphony orchestra ..simply a masterpiece
At 31:00. When Bill said "intercepted" even before it actually happened says so much of how great he is in reading the play. 🔥
Not to say bill isn’t great at reading the play but any dipshit knew that was getting picked
He said "intercept it"
He said intercept it I'm pretty sure

NFL Films, specifically Turning Point is among the best productions in sports.
This was a defensive match. Both teams knew they can score. It’s a matter of how they can stop from each other from scoring.
My favorite Patriots Superbowl. I know, that's not a widely held opinion lol but I can't help it... The defensive schemes, plays, adjustments, the big brain chess match happening at multiple levels behind the scenes, and the improvised play that McDaniels used on the singular TD drive in the game.... I just love it. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time!
Last one they’ll get for like 50 years cuz that’s how curses work

If people can wrap their head around the fact that Patriots held Top 2 scoring offenses to Zero in first half of the game back to back, that tells you something. Oh if you think Superbowl 53 was boring you can go back to watching Micky mouse then.
In addition to not giving up any points in both cases the Patriots defense got themselves off the field and won time of possession in the first half. Except for the final score time of possession is the most important statistic in football. If you can wear out the other team's defense then come crunch time in the 4th quarter you can have your way with them.
@@joevignolor4u949 yup, that's why in Superbowl 4th quarter when it was the crunch time pats scored 7 points despite one on one with loud mouth Aaron Donald. He kept running his mouth all game 😂 about play one vs one instead of double coverage, & when time came to shine in 4th quarter he let his team down. Pats scored 7 points and Aaron Donald was single covered. Patriots indeed beat opponents physically and mentally.
The Rams were top 5 all time scoring offense that got held to 3 points.
Lol...nfl loves the pats😂 Edelman was suspended 4 games and gets Super Bowl mvp 😂😂😂im done...nfl has become too predictable Atleast I’m happy that patriots will forever never have another Super Bowl ring...bye bye!!!

@@pesco7 Yeah. Telling a QB he's doing good right after an interception? With Belichick it would have been, "Come on Brady, pull your head out of your ass".
Thanks for this. As a relatively new comer to this sport, it puts a lot in perspective, especially the aerial view that gets broken down. This was a true slug it out match, every guy played his part, truly awesome and inspirational to watch. NFL rocks !!!
I actually appreciate how positive the Rams took this loss. They all kept their heads up high. Good for you guys 🙂.
There are such great life lessons to be learned from this 2018 Patriots team
Never give up.
A long comment, but worth the read. Thanks.

I've never been a Patriots fan but this was a great video. My favorite part after the game - 36:18
Edelman: "Hey VB" and goes for a high five.
VB: "Ohhhh" - insists on a hug and asks - "Are you happy?"
Jazz is music for musicians
This game is football for hardcore fans
Thank You. Anyone who says this game was boring then you are not a real football fan and you don't understand. What matters at the end of it all is winning the game, the hell with style points. Style doesn't matter, Winning does so if I had to pick between looking good or winning, I'll take winning.
I think years from now this game won't be known as that shitty Superbowl with the lowest score. It will be seen as the most brilliant battle of defenses in Superbowl history. As always... one side had Tom Brady.
@@thanksfernuthin This was complimentary and situational football at its finest. Tom and the Offense did just enough to win and played complimentary football to the defense and special teams which was the story of this Super Bowl game. The casual fan will never understand.
@Eric Strong If anyone says this game was boring then they are not real football fans, they are just fans who just watch football. What matters is winning, style points don't matter.
Coming from a hard core football fan and a jazz musician, I fully agree.
Edelman wasn't 100 percent for that Broncos 2015 matchup. Came back from having a plate in his foot and risked his health out there and had to adjust his routes. Although I can't take credit away from Chris Harris. Beast of a Corner

Shot on Pixel 2 XL - if you’re on the team at any point that season you get a ring (not sure on preseason but at the very least during the season)
The fact that Donald was double teamed by 2 of the best lineman on the pats and still managed to get a hit just shows he’s a beast
0 sacks tho 😂 basically had no impact on the game at all
Patriots in the Tom Brady belichick era in the 2010s always have had an underrated offensive line they always got overshadowed by the Eagles offensive line if you really think about the patriots always had the best offensive line because it’s the same players in the patriots 3 Super Bowl winning teams in the 2010s and they are the same in the patriots 5 Super Bowl appearances in the 2010s Eagles offensive line made it to 1 offensive line in the 2010s decade
