- This video is a big deal for me for two reasons: it's the first real Bears in Games episode on the new channel, and it's a sort of redo slash sequel of one of my original Bears in Games video that I made 15 years ago!
The original episode is here: • Bears in Games Ep. 2 -...
Jesse Ventura on the Tonight Show was originally posted by Scott's Wrestling Collection here: • Jesse Ventura on The T...

Dude, I remember watching and commenting on your first Final Fight video almost two decades ago! Way too many similarities with Tom of Finland artwork to be a coincidence! Glad to see you back!
i don't know how i managed to live under a rock for nearly two decades as a queer person who loves videos about video games before finding your work but i'm very thankful to have found and connected to it today. this was a wonderful little piece! i look forward to more and to exploring your back catalog.
Thank you! This channel is pretty new, I started it in 2023. The old channel I started in 2008, but I lost access to it after 2015. I gave up on being able to get it back so here we are! I'd say the new channel is better because I actually spend time doing writing and research before editing the video.
so Tom of Finland is like the SOURCE of gay bear art, huh
Definitely an early source of it! There were also the "physique" mags of the 40s and 50s, which featured drawings and pictures of buff dudes for, uh, reference. And inspiration. (wiiiiiiink)
Even within my lifetime before the McMahons really took over and sanitized wrestling, wrestling mags up until around the mid 1990s had pull out posters and pictorials of the wrestlers. McMahon switched it to Maxim style fold outs of the Divas instead.
Tangent, but just to add to the list of influences, many of the game's characters also have some rock/metal inspiration behind them, which for me, fits nicely with the biker style, specially the glam/hair metal influence. Apparently Abigail's paint mask (which I never noticed wasn't even in his concept art) is influenced by King Diamond, some enemies have wild hair (again, glam/hair metal), and lots of enemy names are inspired by bands or their members, like Axl/Slash from Guns, Poison and Roxy (Music).
I always thought Abigail's makeup was like one of those wrestling tag teams, the Road Warriors maybe!
@@BearsinGamesNeo-qt5ww Well, supposedly the makeup is based on King Diamond, and the name on King Diamond's 2nd album ("Abigail"). BTW, just remembered the SNES swaps for Poison/Roxy are named Sid and Billy, which could be a nod to Vicious and Idol. Then there's also the bands Sodom and The Damned, but that might be a stretch.
The way jumbo flapjack looks just like my ex mr bear oklahoma, and recent news of the disney animator who makea fetish patreon stuff, and nesskains legacy as one of thr most frequent artists comissiones for overwatch official art (for those unaware he is a bi french artist who specializes in muscles and many male muscle guy art and his first project was the comic for Reinhardt, overwatches resident 7 foot tall gilf);im reminded of the fact that gays have always existed and dont doubt many mens love of thr male form resulted in them being able to draw and animate it well resulting in jobs like these. I wonder how many of these games where the unique npcs are scary men were just the ocs of some closeted gay man who helped us all out through their art
Yeah thanks RUclips I was looking for fetishistic video game video essays
You're welcome!
