I played this on my phone and it was totally fine. Now the game itself is notoriously unfinished to begin with (the third island is joke and underbaked on every level.)
I've been playing this on my steam deck as well. I'm surprised how well it's running on the switch considering it can dip below 30 fps for me. A whole lot of fun, nevertheless
Correction bro back in 1999 when Grand Theft Auto 2 was released on Sony PlayStation 1 and Nintendo Game Boy Color, they did actually film a Rockstar movie titled Grand Theft Auto 2 the same as the game and it featured British-American actor Scott Maslen as Cluade from GTA 2 which is surprisingly the same Claude from GTA III

yeah you definitely didn’t understand Married With Children Al & Peg took jabs at each other but never hated each other. Peg always had the upper hand and Al was always the foil, but they loved each other at the end of the day. The whole family would consistently team up against anyone that actually treated them with malicious intentions.
Yeah, those were always the episodes I liked - where the family was teaming up against a real jerk.

that was a great retrospective. I spent my childhood and my teen years mostly with grand theft auto but I really like the driver series and especially driver san fransisco which is like the best racing game I can recommend to anyone. I didn't knew driver was a game till I was 16 and when I found about what happened with the series, it made me sad that such an iconic and good concept had to meet its tragic end. PS : driver san fransisco is the bestest end a series could have.

You should check out the Japanese version of Crime Fighters for the arcade if you haven't already. Look out for what happens on the train. lol.

Oh, now this I can answer! It's the third in the Streets of Rage series by Sega, though I spend a lot of the video talking about the Japanese version, Bare Knuckle 3. I hope that helps!

(also, i almost forgot to say that the maze-like levels (yes, there are *two* of those) are only on the western version; in the Japanese version, Rushing Beat Ran, every level is as straightforward as one would expect from a beat 'em up)
This popped randomly on my main page feed today. Love the concept and great video, but do you really have to use a word as harmful as queer? It's a slur that still cuts VERY VERY deep to a LOT of LGB people, including myself.
Yeah, I really do have to use it. I learned years ago that folks, including myself, will react differently to reclaimed terms, and there are some that still grate me, but the younger folks have had a different experience with it than an oldie like me. I like it because it's a wide umbrella term that embraces multiple experiences of queerness. Also: don't forget the T!

I liked Ash when i first learned about him but that was when it was Ash or nothing. Even by the time MGS2 had a bisexual vampire, my eyebrow was raising slightly higher towards Ash.

Game devs gota learn universally that if they want gays to flock to their game just add a beefy guy in wrestling tights and it wont even get you weird looks from anyone else, its a win win really.

You could also take a look at The Getaway series spin-off: Gangs of London, on the PSP. I find it very overlooked, but I think you'll like it since it changes a lot of the previous titles' choices for the better (HUD, a decent aim mechanic, humor more similar to Guy Ritchie movies...)
I'll have to give it a shot! That's an excellent suggestion. A more fun follow up to do than Black Monday. Obviously I'll have to play them all eventually of course.

Black Monday is the real sequel, while Gangs of London uses mostly the map, systems and other assets from the previous 2 titles. But I say they're both worth it, BM for the story, GoL for gameplay and novelty, and both for an earworm of a soundtrack
Tangent, but just to add to the list of influences, many of the game's characters also have some rock/metal inspiration behind them, which for me, fits nicely with the biker style, specially the glam/hair metal influence. Apparently Abigail's paint mask (which I never noticed wasn't even in his concept art) is influenced by King Diamond, some enemies have wild hair (again, glam/hair metal), and lots of enemy names are inspired by bands or their members, like Axl/Slash from Guns, Poison and Roxy (Music).
I always thought Abigail's makeup was like one of those wrestling tag teams, the Road Warriors maybe!
@@BearsinGamesNeo-qt5ww Well, supposedly the makeup is based on King Diamond, and the name on King Diamond's 2nd album ("Abigail"). BTW, just remembered the SNES swaps for Poison/Roxy are named Sid and Billy, which could be a nod to Vicious and Idol. Then there's also the bands Sodom and The Damned, but that might be a stretch.

Solid review on a game I have fond memory of playing when I was younger. I remember feeling a rush every time I got to play this cause I couldn't get my parents to buy GTA, but they thought Driv3r was a racing game when I got a copy of it from my older cousin. Subbed! Very good and fair review. I loved Saints Row 3 as my entry point to the series and yes it went downhill but still is one of my favorite games as a mindless fun and quirky game. Everyone is pretty likable! The weapon upgrades are more than more pew pew and some of hte side missions are just FANTASTIC! A solid buy especially on sale.
I was genuinely surprised how good the Switch port was, at least now. Apparently it launched in a pretty rough shape which is why the initial reviews were so bad.
I remember being so disappointed with Driv3r when I got it home after purchase; it sucked major arse. Great video btw, high quality and funny
Yeah, same here. I think I enjoyed this playthrough more than I did the initial one back in 2004 at least.
A great lengthy video. For me (played the PS2 version), I found the on-foot controls better if I massively reduced the sensitivity but you can only do this from the main menu. (even then there's a weird quirk where first person has faster sensitivity than third person.) Funfact: early leaked versions of the game outright forced first person mode when you were on-foot, so you were always intended to use first person for interiors. (Honestly they probably should have added a hint in the tutorial about that.) Driver 2 has a bit of a difficulty problem imo (yes, even by this series standards) and it has frame rate issues on actual hardware which is partially why a fan made PC port was made.
Also, and I'll make a short about this some time (youtube keeps bugging me to make shorts) the PS3 cannot properly run Driver 2, with tons of visual bugs. At least the PS3 slim - perhaps the Fat that had the actual PS2 chip could run it better.
@@BearsinGamesNeo-qt5ww Same with Stuntmant/Driv3r, those also have issues with PS3 emulation and PC Emulation. The AI breaks and doesn't follow it's pathing, making anytime you have to follow someone impossible. Apparently this is due to floating integers, I'm not very tech savy but basically the PS2 due to it's hardware produces very specific floating integers and emulation/PS3 give different integers which break it. (The PC version of Driv3r I think changed how these worked which is why the PC port works and notably the PAL/NTSC versions of Stuntman have different AI pathing routes since they had to make new paths due to the version differences.)

For PS1/PS2 games I'm recording off of my old PS2 Slim with component out, I don't have anything like a Retrotink so it's just straight into the Startech HDMI + Analgue USB 3 box I have, but Resolve has good de-interlacing for the most part and nearest neighbor scaling to reduce blur as I bring it up to HD
For Xbox I've gone through 4 Original Xboxes in the past year recording footage, they just keep dying on me
I can’t get over seeing the third person walking animations. It’s like an alien’s first attempt at possessing and controlling a human body that has more or less limbs than it, so it’s just making stuff up on the fly. 😭
