Man that was a lot of snakes...you never get fully used to the rattlers. I am so happy and proud of you. You're doing so well and embracing the good and bad. That is the only way anyone can ever complete this most beautiful and difficult trail. You go girl!
That's an amazing number of rattlesnakes is such a short distance. Lived in California all my life and have never seen one even though I've done a fair amount of hiking. The area I lived in had rattlers. You're continuing to display that positive, uplifting attitude, mile after mile. You are looking strong!
Wow, lots of snakes. What have you learned? Congrats on 100 miles. Keep line dancing. 😅. Looks like you guys are having fun. You're doing amazing. Keep trekking. 😀
So love following you. Got so excited every time you encountered those 🐍...like I was looking out for them also. Be safe, enjoy your journey. I will look forward to your next post.
Gotta love those rattlers! A few things to keep in mind about them (you may already know). Rattlesnakes are deaf. They have no ears, so they feel the vibration on the ground when you are approaching. They want nothing to do with you. You are not their prey and they would prefer to save their venom for their pray. Rattlesnakes can only strike from 1/3 to at most 1/2 of their body length. So if the snake is 3 feet in length, then it can only strike about 1 foot, possibly up to 1.5 feet; and, normally they need to be coiled for that to happen. So, getting around them shouldn't be too difficult as long as there is some space off trail to go around. If you can't go around them and they are not moving away, try rolling rocks at them. They will move eventually. There is more but I won't bore with that. That was an unusual amount of snakes to run into though. I have hiked in SoCal every weekend for the past eight years and I probably only seen six or seven rattlesnakes. Anyway, great to see you all are making progress. Good luck on San J if you haven't made it there yet. :)
Such fun following your journey Ash! You are so upbeat and your videos are easy to watch! Thanks for putting all the hard work into editing them for us to enjoy! Danger noodles! I think you've coined a new term! You are so calm! I think I'd freak! Looks like you've found a fun tramily who likes to line dance along with you. Fun times on the trail! Stay safe out there!
Nice video, lots of good energy & snakes. The wide lens view is interesting , it shows the trail in different perspective . Glad your phone did not get stepped on. Good job.
I love the camaraderie of your trail mates. It was especially evident during the line dance routine at Eagle Rock. 🤗 I have a question. When your box doesn’t arrive, will it be forwarded to the next stop if you correct the issue that delayed it? If not, what happens to the undelivered boxes? Just curious. I am a California and Camino friend of Julia from the UK; she shared your posts with her friends to follow you since the two of you were unable to walk together. I will continue to watch your adventure along with my friend Julia’s great PCT adventure. Stay safe. 🥾
Hey there! If the box doesn’t arrive if it was sent priority it can be bounced on one time for free.and I finally bumped into Julia!! Was so chuffed to finally meet her :)
Those rattley, slithery things is why you should not cowboy camp. There are also scorpions out there. Rattle snakes are not aggressive in the sense that they don't chase you.
Glad to hear about Zeus! I'm a dog owner too and I was concerned. Glad he's taking a break off the trail.
You are fun. Love it.

Good stuff! Subscribed, Trail name yet?
There’s 2 in the works at the moment ;) I’ll put it in a video when it’s decided :)
