Not to get all geeked out on you but: 1:16 Pacific gophersnake 5:05 Long-nosed Leopard Lizard 8:46 Northern Pacific Rattlesnake 11:30 Blainville's Horned Lizard Congrats on 700! Cheers!
You might want to try a thin layer of vaseline, then nylon stockings, then socks over them. Tricks that ultra marathoners use to cut down on friction, to help reducing or eliminating the blisters.
I LIKE IT SO MUCH THAT WE CAN HEAR YOUR FOODSTEPS ON THE TRACK (GRAVEL). SOME VLOGGERS DO MUSIC ALL THE TIME, BUT THAT IS NOT REAL. NOW IT FEELS LIKE WE ARE WALKING ALONG!
On Day 52, the picture of the yellow, red and black bird you took was a Western Tanager, AKA my favorite bird! Thanks so much for sharing! It made my day!!! 😊
Maybe look into the heel lock and other lacing techniques to get your shoes snug in the right spots? Congrats on 700 miles! Thanks for filming and sharing
Congratulations on hitting that 700-mile mark and completing the desert section. I wish you the best in the Sierra and look forward to following along. Thank you for taking the time and putting in the work to share your journey with us!
I second Jay’s comment, he knows how much work it is. I still think he could have made the return trip to the southern terminus. I especially like your background music, subtle and doesn’t distract for the trail sounds. Great job! Great attitude!
Wow! I would have thought the foot issues would have worked out after so many miles. I can't wear Merrills. They always give me blisters in the strangest places. I've tried several different pairs over the years because they make some good looking shoes. I tend to wear mid level boots, primarily to keep dirt a debris out of my boots. 700 miles is fantastic. Keep up the good work. I look forward to your posts.
Hey Twiggy I have so many questions for you, the PCT is so different than the AT, do you need to hang your food bag every night? and have thought about using Vaseline on your feet before you hike, I found that it's helps reduce the friction in my feet? Thank you for sharing your journey 💝.
Your doing great!!! Really enjoy the vids of the snakes and lizards. Not sure what the purple flower is the Horned Toad is hiding behind. Very interesting light colored rattlesnake. Probably still a variant of the Western Rattlesnake. Good job!
Love the close ups of nature in your videos 🙂 Congratulations on the 700 miles mark passed👍 Interesting that your feet have gone up 2 sizes as your turn from a town girl to a trail girl !! You must have had a very senentry life before trail ?!👣👣👣👣
Gaiters will help keep the sand out. You'll want the special ones: "Dirty Girls Gaiters". They didn't have my style - camouflage, so I made my own! I have ONLY wore Merrell boots for the last 23 years. They fit my feet best. And yes, they only last about 700 miles. Thanks for all the little creatur shots.
Am I the only one who has to turn the sound up to hear, not just this episode but all of them. I love watching your videos, but hate that I can’t hear you well. Im not old, lol.
NOPE!!!!!!!!! Her soft, kind, gentle voice requires me to use Close Captioning to make out what she's saying. Twiggy is not the only hiker who has this problem though.
I never had this problem until one particular day in the desert! I figured I’d hold out to see if the issue was resolved in the Sierra. So far no more issues!
Yes, a trail cam and trackers will usually put out more than one in the area depending on what they are looking for, so look for one or two more cameras if you see one.
@@TheEarthycrunchy Yes, animals. I volunteer on trails in the Mt Hood National Forest with a few trail and conservation groups. One group tracks wolverines and Sierra Nevada Red Fox as indicator species, as well as cougar, bear, and wolves, and we set cameras all year around and collect scat and sightings in the summer. Hunters also use tracking cameras to set up their fall hunts. I also volunteer through TKO for the Forest Service teaching Leave No Trace on trail in the wilderness areas, and doing outdoor research and restoration work. And I do a few days of PCT trail work each year.

Hello Jay F
Well said Jay....I hiked 12 miles the other day and almost had a hard/attack... Amazing brave people we have here.....
Thanks so much Jay 🙌🙌😊

Beautiful camera work.....
Better take of those blisters "Twiggy" Looks painful.
Congrats on reaching 700! 🎉 Interesting blisters on the outside of your heels, I hope you can solve that before hiking the Sierra.
Hello 👋
Thanks so much 😊🙌

When you get new shoes tell the outfitters about those blisters on the sides of your heels. It's likely a shoe misfit.

I have solved that problem for a bit by putting the subtitles on.
And (now) I like that gentle way of speaking.
Subtitles is that small square with cc in it.
No you’re not the only one, I too have to turn up my sound when I watch them back. Oops! Next thru hike I’ll maybe get some audio equipment 🤪

is there nothing sacred?? those POS windmills out on the trail!! uggg
uh hiking boots
Do you prefer not to wear gators to keep the sand and rocks out of your shoe?

What if you Need to pee during the hike? Because as a Lady it is Not that easy
Is that a camera?
I think it’s a trail camera 😅
@@twiggyhikes Definitely a trail cam.
