You can never go wrong with Jeff & Annie in investigative caper mode. Always makes for 10/10 eps. Great performances here by Jim Rash, Alison Brie and Joel McHale!
Chase scene through the stereotypical Turkish market was the best thing in this episode. The only thing they missed was the accidental destruction of a cabbage vendor's cart.
Fun fact: they filmed over half this episode without a finished script, and when the S&P woman read it, she was like 'this is super bloody and not about anything so let's make it about gun safety' Thus, Officer Cackowski lol
Fun Fact: They were literally writing this episode and making it up one scene at a time without knowing where it was going, to the point that in the final shootout scene they were literally running pages down from the writer's room to the set and immediately filming as they came in
@@iremainteague5653 Fun fact! They used real guns and actually shot each other. This way they didn’t have to prepare squibs. The blood pact they made with a demon kept them alive.
This is a top 5 episode for me. The whole conspiracy thing itself is hilarious, the reasoning for the prop guns being that they just finished a retelling of MacBeth set in modern day gangland Chicago is the perfect balance of funny and bizarre - the pillow fort and Troy’s delivery of “Isn’t that him playing the Trīdeksnis?” genuinely kills me every time. They really nailed this one
Anyone who has worked around community/youth theatre knows that modern retellings of MacBeth involving guns are worryingly common. Normally it's in the style of The Matrix...
This episode is amazing. The dean’s breakdown gets me every time. It also sets up one of the funniest episodes in the future. Can’t wait for you guys to see it.
This is absolutely a top 10 episode of Community for me. And let’s be honest no matter how old you are you would want to hangout in a blanket fort that big and that awesome. And Dean Pelton just loosing his mind at every reveal is freaking priceless!🤣🤣🤣
“Is that a real gun??” One detail I love is the gun shots get more and more realistic the deeper it goes. The first couple are clearly stage shots. No blood, the sound isn’t quite right, etc. But as it goes on the sounds get more real and they start using blood packs to really sell it. So it does wind up kind of messing with your head. Haha
Love this episode; in my top 5 for sure. I remember Alison Brie saying in a recent panel that Kevin Corrigan was absolutely shocked that all this was taking place in a 21-minute sitcom (before getting on all-fours and entering the blanket fort lol)
Fun Fact: The Latvian Independence Day parade in the fort is a bit of an Easter egg because this episode aired on November 18, which is the actual Latvian Independence Day.
Anyone else remember when the term Easter egg had meaning? Like the old flash Homestar Runner Easter eggs. Alas, like the word gentleman or music genre of grunge, its original meaning has been rendered obsolete through misuse, wasting an existing word by turning it into a synonym for other words that already existed.
As great as his portrayal of the Dean is, don't forget that he also won the Academy Award for his adapted screenplay for The Descendants. The Adventures of Dean Dangerous might have actually been pretty damn good.
The Britta stuff was a "Eyes Wide Shut" reference. Really well done with the singular piano notes and the way it was filmed just like Kubrick did, the super confrontational shots. Basically she was at a weird sex party.
This is my personal favorite episode of the show. I just remember crying laughing at the entire end with all the reveals and the Dean’s mental breakdown and how his whole reason for starting it all was, “Time travel is really hard to write about!!!”
This episode is easily one of my favorites in the whole show. I love how they turned subversions into another joke, and did it over and over again which just made it funnier. It works so well
My favorite little easter egg of the whole show is in this episode. The Latvian Independence Day parade was a reference to the fact that this episode originally aired on the actual Latvian Independence Day.
its been hinted a couple of times that Britta is a bit kinky, this episode and the subway one where they listen to the audio of her and subway "doing it", and the subway CEO saying something along the lines of "this is totally not right" lol
@@nicolaslabra2225 I love the idea of someone watching along w/ Blind Wave and trying to figure out why Britta was "doing it" with Subway from the comments. Lol
Me, every time I'm mildly inconvenienced, "would that this hoody were a time hoody!" This is one of my top 10 faves. Apparently when they started filming this episode they only had the plot figured out until Jeff said "I don't know!" and they sort of made it up as they went. So funny.
Loved u guys referencing Arrested Development’s “And that’s why you always leave a note”, ik u guys loved and already watched that show ages ago, but it would’ve great to see u guys react to it!
I think the point of showing Britta in the fort was just to add to the narrative that she's a hypocrite and gave into the trend. That's the reason she looked taken off guard, she was embarrassed. There was that bit in the beginning where she was ragging on Troy and Abed for wanting to build a blanket fort in the first place.
True. There are a few that I think are pretty universally in peoples top ten (Modern Warfare, Remedial Chaos Theory, Intergluteal Numismatics among them) but there are so many fantastic episodes that you end up with about 40 or so in the top 10.
I 100% understand what Eric is saying about one foot out or one leg out of the covers. I need to be cozy for the most part but I don't want to be too hot
The ending of this episode was so confusing for me that I needed to rewatch it at a later date to grasp the absurdity of the twists. Hats off to the writers on this one.
Oh my God I love this episode so much. Been waiting for the reaction to it for so long. Top 3 all time for me. Kevin Corrigan is so perfect as Garrity/Woolley/Professorson.
A little summary of the Conspiracies: Jeff made up a class. The dean found out and got the drama-professor Garrety to pretend to be the teacher of that class to teach Jeff a lesson. Jeff found out and conspired with Annie to tell the Dean that Jeff cannot be messed with, which Annie hated, because she thinks that Jeff should actually learn from this. So Annie teamed up with the Dean, so that Jeff would actually learn something from the whole thing. Jeff somehow found out and got mad at Annie for crossing him, so he teamed up with the Dean against her. Annie then somehow found out about this and got mad at the Dean for not having a backbone, so she again teamed up with Jeff again. At this point, the Drama Professor found out about them messing with prop guns and got the Police involved.
Such a great episode. Best Auto Explosion in Film History and Latvian Independence Parade. What more do you want? Everything my humor center needs. And then three guys sitting at a table, one of whom is so wonderfully eclectic.
