  • Here's how to fix a brush with ends that don't meet in Adobe Illustrator when you use it on a circle. I'll also show you how to edit the bounding shape of a brush to change how it is oriented to the path to create an edge brush. Now you can draw solid, curvy shapes with rough textural edges in Adobe Illustrator.

Multiple helpful tips in one video. Wish I’d known about the square eraser a long time ago 😂

Do you have suggestions on how to fix brushes that have odd offshoots at corners or in some places stretches out really far causing it to look much smoother than the rest? I can mess around with the anchors to an extent to fix things, but there are some that this doesn't work on, and I can't figure out why some areas end up so smooth. I've tried using short marks for the brush and longer marks and still end up with a similar issue.

It all depends of the brush settings and the anchor points on the path. Are these only art brushes you are talking about? Look in the settings for the overlap options. Also pattern brushes have corner tiles... so there may be a solution there...

Hi - How can I make this new edited version of the brush available in other files? I am not finding it in the libraries when I open a new Illustrator file. Thanks!

Save it in a brush library. Go to your brushes panel, pare down the panel to only the brushes you want in the saved library. Click the Libraries button at the bottom left of the panel, and choose Save Brushes... you can name and save in the dialog, and by default this places the brushes in the Illustrator folder system. To use them in another document go to the same libraries menu, User Defined, and you will see your library there. Good luck!
