Take advantage of Track Alternatives for auditioning your different creative ideas, organizing your sessions, and much more.
I use alternatives to store all the takes from quick swipe comps before I flatten them.
Exactly!
man this is amazing, I was totally unaware of this feature, starting using it from today. Amazing tutorial, I thank you very much.
Cool way of using the feature.
The end result may improve, but the efficiency of having to commit to one idea though -like ol time 4 track bounces.
I tended to ignore track alternatives in favor of comp takes - this is a good rundown on track alternatives as an alternative.
Man I hope Apple pays you because I learn more from you than anywhere else on RUclips. Been using logic for years and never knew about this but it's been a game changer so thank you so much! Thanks for your dedication on helping the logic community get more out of it :)
You really convinced me to finally get into the Track Alternatives feature with what you showed at the end!
I am loving your channel! This channel is a gem for users wanting to step their Logic game up. Been using Logic since Express days and have been stuck in old workflows. I’ve been sleeping on a lot of these features. Excellent content! 🙌🏾
This helped me out a lot, thank you!
wow bro! thank you for sharing this!
Wow ! Thanks for this Nice Tipp !!
This video will be very helpful. It'll be a lot easier to keep my projects organized without having to create a billion tracks that I never use. Thanks, Chris!
Brilliant video
Very useful info as usual.
I’m a big fan of track alternatives just like you WLPR brother! I change the key of a couple parts and change the whole song by grouping the takes. But I hadn’t created a template with track alternatives already linked together, but I will now. Thanks again!
Maybe you'll think I'm quite dumb but I totally missed this fonctionnality.
This tool will be very usefull for me so, thank you very much for your video
Fantastic, as usual. I always learn something from your videos. Thanks!
With the take folders thing, I actually gave that advice to someone in the comments on another one of your videos a while back. That’s exactly how I work. I love it, so organized. When you start messing with take folders then flex, etc on a bigger project it can sometimes get a little buggy tho I’ve found.
And you also can't use this option to create alternate versions of the mix. In contrast, the option of alternatives through the Files menu, which allows you to work with the mixer, and not just with the tracks.
I’ve been wondering about something like this so, this video is very timely. I agree that some sort of scene feature would be great too, but the current functionality is a big help as is.
Re: the last one, there is a project alternative feature in the File menu for that. You don't need to put everything in a group and pretty much lose the actual track alternative functionality.
But in your case, you're wasting time loading the project.
Brilliant! Thank you and have a great weekend!
Well…… that's pretty good. All great ideas that I was unaware of. I often end up with a host of Project Alternatives to achieve a similar (but actually quite different) thing, though in a far more convoluted manner. I think that Track Alternatives have suddenly become a favourite part of my toolbox also.
Thanks for the great heads up Chris.
Thanks!
Great info!! Is there a way to see older alternatives past the list of 10? I jacked up my drums using Flex Time and want to find a previously saved session . Let me know if there’s a way to see older sessions- thanks!!
Thanks for this video. I didn’t know this function existed.
Game changer 👊🏻 Thanks for sharing!
You can flatten and merge comp takes instead of bouncing the track into the new alternative, right?
This is useful, I would switch off and hide the comp track as well, but alternatives really looks more clean, can be accessed more easily, fx chain keeps being shared and if you need to modify a comp (like you realized you cut off a breath or something) it's much faster than looking for that old hidden track
Cool tutorial! Even as someone who prefers recording vocals, mixing and mastering in Logic Pro ... I’d say Reason is better for track alternatives.
Nice!
Thank you, this is really helpful!!
Wow! Pretty cool!! Thanx 🤗
Is there a way to add a description to each alternative so as to remember what is that alternative all about? Without a description I can see this quickly getting out of hand, in which case I prefer to stick to my current method to manually create alternatives in a Stack and rename each Track with a descriptive name.
Is there something like this for the mixer? When I'm auditioning different delay settings during drum phase alignment, Reaper snapshots come in real handy.
what about project alternatives? instead of setting up track alternatives at the beginning of the project?
better than comping
Nice! Also, if you set up the track alternatives can we save it as a user template and have all of those settings saved within the template?
I added a comment that seems to have gone to spam. I have provided a link to a video that shows how to render a region with a closed plug in the same place. Please check.
Can you make a video how to create reggae drum patterns using drummer
But can you turn off these tracks not being used so you don't use CPU or it won't matter ?
What is the difference from "Takes" as opposed to track alternatives. It looks like it is the same thing.
compared to pro tools at least this is a lame implementation of playlists (tho pro tools has lame implementations or their own) They should implement the swiping feature that they use for take folders into track alternates as well and also color code alternates so that you can easily see from which track alternate the main track has been taken from. Thanks for the video
Is there a difference in the resulting audio file if you flatten and merge on an alternate vs bouncing in place?
track alternatives isn't showing up on my version 10.6.2
Are you using a legit copy? Or is it cracked?
@@drvoodoo3073 oh yes it’s 💯 legit
@@biggareid Then it's impossible that you don't have Track Alternatives. Track Alternatives has been around since version 10.0.0, this isn't a new feature.
I also have 10.6.2 and it was not showing up for me. I can help you. I just figured it out. Go to the LOGIC PRO menu. Go to PREFERENCES and choose ADVANCED TOOLS. Make sure that SHOW ADVANCED TOOLS is selected. At the bottom of that window select ADVANCED EDITING. Once you close that window and go back to your project, you will be able to control click and track, go down to CONFIGURE TRACK HEADER, and like magic, TRACK ALTERNATIVES will be there for you to select. I hope that works for you. It just did for me.
Anyone else sad that Chris didn't pick their project to be mixed + mastered :/ Oh well still love the channel
