I’m hoping you can cover some of the pros and cons with saving logic projects as packages vs. folders. Especially for collaborating and managing samples etc etc.
So, I have been working on a Project and aside from saving every few minutes as I work, I have been using "Save As' to create a backup copy. at the end of every session. After watching your video I am now assuming that using "New Alternatives" will save space on my hard drive compared to the "Save As" option. I did not know about this New Alternative option and I will definitely use it, especially if it saves space. I also back up to an external drive with Time Machine, just in case.
I want to have my friend record his guitar solo. His computer isn't as powerful and he doesn't have all the same plugins. I plan to use an alternative to strip out all but the essential tracks for structure and add the click track.
does a project alternative double up on all the data being saved? so will this make copies of all the audio tracks and make me eat up a ton of hardware space every time I make a new one? or is this just like a new "scene" basically?

You are so deep into this thing Colin. I wonder whether you dreams too are made up of this audio stuff?😃. Have a blessed day and blessed future.
How about doing a vid on saving Garageband/logic sessions on an external hard drive.
And that is as simple as opening a new project on the external drive. 😊
with explaining your reasoning and relating it to a real world project..it becomes obviously a wise thing to know...
Thanks for the tip. Question: in the drop down menu at 2:46 the listed alternatives are shown from older at the top to the more recent at the bottom?
thank you so much man :)

how do you delete a project alternative?
