Second time watching (love it, but now I am taking a break so I can watch and comment heehee), love love love the little dance you do when sharing the list, which gets me so excited for all that is to come! I love the soul ships. More so, how very much this concept can be found around the world, including Orient and India :) Because our ancestors were cremated and released into the waters, it is a daily tradition to release flowers/offerings and light (Aarti) into the rivers for a few reasons. An aarti is a devotional ritual using fire and it’s common to place a small candle inside a cup made from leaves and flowers and float it down the river. The idea is that the candle placed in the bowl symbolizes the soul, and its placement on the river represents the link between the inner and outer worlds. In India, where the tradition originated, some perform the ritual daily - at dawn and dusk and it's power and importance is never taken for granted. My grans didn't live close to the ocean back home in Trinidad, but they had a Spirit House in front of their home, you see these in a lot of Polynesian islands as well. Much Love - me :)
Oh I loved to read this so much! I didn't know about these traditions and I always love to learn more about cultures that I am not very well familiar with - so, thank you so much for the little lesson 😘 I have learned so much from you already 💕 hehe I did not have any rum at home (the Spanish pirate tends to make it disappear) so I made it with triple sec but that still tasted yummy 😄 and yes, of course you may "steal" the tangerine candle idea haha the figures are wood carvings of (distorted) faces and the artist that has made them is from my home town - there are multiple of these statues in special spots in the area - I think they are called "Wandering Souls" (which is very fitting 😁). Sending you much love and hugs from baby and me ♥️
@@Thewitchescookery oh that pirate of yours!!! Do you know the name of the artist? I would love to research his work! I am also sending a DM on IG, cuz I am greedy like that 😂

Such an awesome video. I love your crafts and I loved the braided bread. I'd love to make one but I could get sick next year so I got to learn to bake first! Lol But yummy 😋
Such a beautiful idea 🧡
Guten tag, first I need to say that the samhain pear cake is scrumptious. Yet I did not do the weather's dipped pears for the top, but did do three layers. You mentioned your moon app, as there are so many, could you provide the name and publisher. Thank you ever so much, your channel is wonderful. Blessed be.
Hallo ☺️ oh it makes me so happy to hear, that you tried out the cake (and all three layers no less! 💪). I do believe the changed the name of it to moony the moon calendar and it is by Freckled OG. And thank you so much for your kind words ♥️ have a wonderful day
Oh your baby is such a cute joy! The bread came out so good! A must try for me. I have been watching your videos on repeat :) ...I just love learning about your culture and ancient rituals 💞
Oh cool! I would love to hear how you liked the bread if you get around to trying it 😊 sending much love 💕
What is your enchanting music towards the end please?

@@Thewitchescookery cool, vielen Dank für die Empfehlungen. Bei den englischen Namen weiß man ja erstmal nicht, wer dahinter steckt ;)
Schönes Samhain wünsch ich noch!
the boat to Avalon....where King Arthur was taken...
Has your uncle’s book on your grandma been translated in English? I’d love to read it 🥰❤️
Happy Samhain
For samhain were going to make an altar for our ancestors and give them sweets for an offering and we're going to have a fire and we're going to write what things we want to let go of and then put it in the fire 🔥
I've never done things like this for my ancestors. But I've lost so many relatives this year and almost lost my daughter to this pandemic.
Is it just our ancestors of years gone by or anyone from now and long ago?
I live with my elderly parents now and I'm an elder as well. They have a creek/brook in the backyard.
Can I put a soulboat in it?
Anyone that has already passed you can honor. I would definitely put a soul boat into that creek 💜
@@taleighshacinto33 💜 thanks
@@sherann6564 aww, you're welcome 😊
Lovely video. I love your cloak. Did you make it?
Thank you so much 💚 I bought it some years ago at a medieval fair and I just love it for winter as it is so soft and warm. But I might make one for warmer autumn days - thanks for the idea! ☺️
