I'm a 75 year old woman and I'm currently looking for a new Chromebook. I thought this might be a consideration for me, but I realized that it just won't work in my senior world. I have to have a laptop with at least a 14" screen and a backlit keyboard. This device looks to be a bit too unfriendly for my lap and dark living room. I have two tablets that I use for watching Prime, etc. I like the laptop formfactor for typing and for scrolling through RUclips. Watching your video, I realized that this particular device is just not for me. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this. You helped this old gal narrow down my list of considerations.

Just picked one of these up open box excellent condition - $279… using it for email, web browsing, bill pay, office documents, streaming etcetera. Basic stuff… hopefully will serve me well for what it is. Thanks for this review!

I'm in my 60's and agree with you, I have the 11 inch duet 3 and it's outperforming my expectations. Chrome OS has improved over the years and the use of android apps is sublime. I'm also a big fan and user of linux and this has helped enormously with the availability of usable software, especially in the open source world., allowing me to use it for work. The battery life is out of this world, I've had no issues with running low on power, showing me at the end of a full day, 30% still and indicating up to 4-5 hours left!! I use it for work and for sitting back and relaxing watching youtube and consuming social media. This is the way to go for future products and they've nailed it with a solid device. Adding a backlit keyboard will be perfection, but not a deal breaker, that's what lights are for after all! Great video and thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I got the 4GB model on sale some time ago for 250€ and at that price it is a lot of computer for sure! Great device, very versatile. With Linux and a keyboard,, it is a full blown computer, not just another tablet. Android version is still Android 9, which is a bit ancient by now. EDIT: it's finally getting Android 11 (in beta right now).

I got my Duet 5 close to release for $325 +tax. (It was on sale and Best Buy had an open box) It is by far, My favorite tablet to consume media on. Then there is my Linux partician that let's me run full fledged desktop VS Cod (learning Python). I have a 12.9" M1 iPad Pro, yet I still grab this tablet first. Can't wait for the next version of the Duet (I had the original 10.1 as well). They just keep making them better and better! I absolutely agree with you, Lenovo has a great foundation for a formidable device on their hands.

Thank you for the kind words! I haven’t tried yet but I don’t believe Mint or Ubuntu work well based on quick search. However there is a distro called Cadmium that does

I love this device but am having trouble understanding if it’s capable of allowing a microphone to record podcasts? With adapters would it work? Otherwise I need a new laptop

Would you say the performance is good enough for Adobe Lightroom for photo editing?

If they make one with an e-ink screen they will take over the e-ink world.

We always see a lot of Windows tablets, but very few ChromeOS tablet. But because of ARM chipset, I can install Andronix on Android smartphones. So despite me liking this tablet a lot, I'm still struggling about the idea of buying one.

I also use Andronix, but you do want to consider ChromeOS, even with ARM chipset, because of hardware GPU acceleration. That is something Andronix can never do until Termux gives such a capability.
P.S. If you do care about GNU Linux more than Android, I suggest to stay with x86 as it has wider desktop software support compared to ARM.
