I liked the amount of Easter eggs and native shout outs like how she whistled before the predator came in picture since most tribes believe that if you whistle at night bad entities will come. That one I for sure feel is from the bezerker clan since it had strength and speed but didn’t really think fully in his attacks while naru had a solid defense while studying it.
The whistle was a nice touch. I wanted to point out that not all natives had an astonished reaction to old world technology. Ishi, the last Yahi lived in California away from cities until 1911. He was brought out to the SF Bay Area and his anthropologist guide/'owner' said you must be pretty surprised by our technology as Ishi looked at the city and an airplane flew overhead. Ishi smiled and only commented on how many people there were. I guess what I mean is that there were ways to understand new things, like children's stories allowed Naru to comprehend alien tech as a sort of metaphysical being, but not one that she couldn't handle. The biggest difference is behavior as she couldn't understand why someone would kill a herd of bison until she met the French fur trappers. She understood the Predator for what he was fairly quickly as well. I cracked up at the New Girl joke. Glad you did this and hope you feel better.
The pred I am pretty sure is not from the berserker. The director told that this is an subspecie from an different region on yautja prime(their home planet)
28:30 Fun fact, in Native American folklore, whistling at night is regarded as an ill omen. Supposedly, a skinwalker or other shapeshifter will whistle back in an effort to lure you closer to it. A phenomenal little detail that someone pointed out on another video, and I think it really brings that scene up a level.
In some Asian (i'm an Asian) culture as well. My grandma use to tell me never whistle at night. You are calling an bad omen (or evil in the dark) to you.
Just a shame that they placed the wrong tribe in the wrong territory for that period... Yet another Hollywood shortcut when it comes to historical accuracy...
I really got the feeling that this predator is kinda like the hunters that use crossbows or similar "primitive" weapons in modern day. It has a lot of high tech stuff, but no plasma canon and less armor. Also it goes into close combat with both people and animals a lot.
Plus, the director stated it was that particular Predators first time on Earth. I think the hunt may have also been a right of passage. Hunt all the most dangerous prey on this planet with the less advanced weapons to earn its place in its tribe.
It is a Youngblood Predator so basically he was a rebel teenage one. They have comic storylines fleshed out about this stuff you should check it out! Anyone who liked this movie should read all the Predator comics lol
It's what they call a Youngblood , a feral predator , they earn their weaponry from Hunt's they get upgraded that's how the species works...So basically you're seeing a inexperienced predator...And yes part two is coming
After the atrocity that was the last predator movie (autism gives you superpowers?) I had given up on the franchise. This movie was such a relief, solid 8/10
just my opinion but i think people are kind of overrating it because we're so starved of good movies lately, especially in the predator franchise. the scenes with the predator, apart from the end fight which is very bad, were 8/10. but overall i think the movie is a 6.5/10. i would advise people to just watch the predator scenes on youtube, in particular the bear scene
@@blakeaskew7086 It's cringey because when I was a kid (probably 8 years old), I was imagining the very same concept (after watching Predator one too many times). I'm not kidding. That's how I know this movie was written by a child.
Fun fact: The breed of dog in this movie is Carolina Dog AKA American Dingo! They were used by natives all across the United States for thousand of years. You can still find breeders and dogs of this variety today. Just be aware that they are super smart, mischievous, and energetic if you decide to take one home.
I told my wife: I wish everyone in the world cared about me like they do this dog! 😁 I adopted a rez dog 5 years ago, and she is the best dog ever. Really smart, and loyal. I love her. There are over 300k stray dogs on the Navajo reservation. You can find organizations like Black Hat you can work with to adopt. Well worth it, and not expensive. Look them up.
Your right I live on the Navajo Rez I get my Sheep herding dogs. At a store on the rez. And some are house Guard dogs. The best oil dogs you can find are mutts.
Couple of things: -According to the director, this a young and more inexperience Predator. Which after seeing the movie makes sense. -There's a dub version where all the dialogue speak by the comanche is their actual language instead of english. -What Taabe screams at the predator, after the fight, when he turn invisible can be translated to "Cheater"
Yeah this predator is like the primitive versions of the higher ranks.. Or put it lightly, a LOWER ranked predator.. Much like the 1st land reptiles were the dinosaur's ancestors.. Hence why this movie setting was in 1719. Low evolved.. And with Low-Tech helmets with a wolf skull and shoots metal bolts instead of plasma laser.
@@SaRENRampaiger Here's what i think about those things: 1. the skull helmet might be the case of the predator being prideful, wearing the helmet of a creature he took down is a great accomplishment 2. he didn't have any plasma canons because he was out on earth to prove himself to the elders, afterwards they gift him the plasma canon, that's how was done in avp movie and a glimpse in here aswell 3. he's probably not wearing any armor because he enjoys the thrill of battle, and might even take damage on purpose to fully embrace the fight, hence why he has so many scars on his body
@@Motivation_snack6668 Very cool observations and interesting theories. The truth is this movie was true to the comics. This Predator is called a "Youngblood" meaning he's well trained (obviously) but very inexperienced. In Predator "tribes" you have to earn your weaponry. The more trophies you bring back the more you are rewarded. His low armor/weaponry is simply a result of his accomplishments. Clearly he wasn't "handicapping" himself as you mentioned. The whole point is the best of me vs the best of you. He used everything at his disposal.
This movie is probably the best Predator we've had in a long time, The Predator (2018) left a really bad taste in my mouth, and the people who criticized it kept saying that they wouldn't believe a small "unskilled" girl would kill a Predator, but we see her in the movie training and being highly resourceful and it just made me go "did they even watch the movie?" and also even Arnold's Dutch character couldn't take him hand to hand, he too had to be resourceful :) Prey, Predator (original) and Predators are still my favorite to this day.
@@daykon6843 It turned out to be a fair fight in the end...And, unlike the Ninja/Pocahontas over here, Arnie did not even touch the bloody creature...!
@22:07- his line, direct callback to the Original film- Said by Arnold himself… this movie was freakin Awesome… it’s a good Fooking film… legitimately-- a very beautiful and high quality production… and it gave not only great tribute to the franchise, but even greater tribute to Comanche culture… like 5 out of 5 stars
The scene when Naru was aiming at the hawk. That same location was used for The Revenant. The opening sequence in the camp, when the settlers were packing the boat with pelts before they got run over by the natives. Also the same location was used on Shanghai Noon, when Jackie Chan fought the natives in the river.
At the 31:50 mark, I love Naru's victory cry. I think the bog-mud fooled the laser sight on the Predator's helmet so it was able to zero in on him. Great movie.
No, the arrows track to the laser sights no matter where they're pointing. It was so desperate that it forgot. It did the same thing earlier against her brother.
And he also copies their tactics, after witnessing the snake strike the rat, he poses the same way when striking the wolf, coiling and revealing his fangs, and he copies the wolf when he chases the last member of her hunting party with her, with stalking and sprinting towards the prey
@@TheMrsmartass13 And the director says this predator is more inexperienced than the higher ranks of the previous ones hence why he gets dumbed down on taking down her!
@@demetriskatsianis2396 Wait... huh? He was overpowered, like a puppy? I'm guessing you mean by... who... again? The bear gave him a fight for a minute. And Taabe was holding his own against it until it cloaked. But it walked through the braves and the trappers. OH, right... the wimmenz you hate... So, you didn't watch the movie. Because the predator was taking damage since the wolf bit it. Then the bear. Then the braves. Then the trappers. Then Taabe. Then Naru shoots it in the back of the head, kamikaze's onto it's back giving 4 or 5 chops, it gets raked over the tree spikes, then gets its arm cut off... fights a bit more while literally bleeding out... before falling into the mud bog pit. And, was STILL alive while bleeding out standing in the pit using his dart gauntlet which is the exact trap Naru had set up, shooting itself in the head before it died. And in the movie, before final fight, Naru was running away. Or did you miss that? "but but the wimmenz!" Naru didn't lack skill; she lacked confidence in her skills. She ran away even after her brother died. It was by the river that she finally found her courage. Finally said enough. And if you don't believe that, then let a Gulf War veteran, that was former Explosive Ordnance Disposal, was in Iraq twice, walked live minefields, and afterwards was in law enforcement, that LOTS of manly men lost their shit due to fear and it wasn't until you conquered it that you were able to function. As for badass women? Go to Fort Bragg... where women walk around in uniform with Airborne tabs, Paratrooper wings and Ranger patches. Tell THEM they aren't badasses.
“I do respect his integrity” Predator: fights invisible, heat vision, instant healing tools, uses super space weapons. Predator basically plays with cheats on.
Wait...Heat vision is a cheat on??? Isn't that supposed to be how they normally see??? Isn't this the reason this Predator was practically blind, not even able to see the flower-cold-blooded human standing right in front of him even if he did not have his biomask on??? Dude, you have just busted the biggest storyline atrocity ever!!!!
@@Etticos. THERE YOU GO, MY FRIEND!!! THERE YOU F***ING GO!!!! So, in the final fight sequence in Prey, Naru consumed that plant which lowered her blood/body temperature making her INVISIBLE TO HEAT VISION, AND ONLY TO HEAT VISION. HOW COME HE COULD NOT SEE HER STANDING RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM WITH HIS NORMAL VISION, WHICH IS NOT HEAT VISION??? Now, you can understand just how big of a bull crap this film was...
@@demetriskatsianis2396 Right. Plus based on the original film I was under the impression a Predator could see like a normal human with out the mask. The mask just gives the heat vision, targeting hacks, and some other tools.

problem is, it cant be 1719 in the movie. If we are to believe northwestern French traders were with Comanche. Unlike the western people, the French prided their Beaver and Squirrel pelt trading. They weren't buffalo hunters, mater of fact they did not accept buffalo hides as part of trade from the Indian's. These Trades happened around 1600, and at the same time the French were setting up camp in Quebec. There're art pictures of these events, the Indian's would have festivals for the French. The French during these trades Supplied the Comanche with arquebus Rifles\Bore flintlocks, and metal works for axes and weapons. This Advancement in weapons will allow the Indian's to hunt even more efficient. Allowing trade to be even more fruitful. By 1630 all Comanche tribes were using Spanish Warhorse, this was thanks to conquistadores in late 1599. If the Year is 1719 as it says in the movie, this is how our Comanche would look. Women don't hunt or join war party's only men: The women were the backbone to the camp. Your Comanche would have a Rifle slung over his back, with a spear and shield at side. He would have a short Axe made of Iron fasten to palmwood with leather. His spear would be long and have a iron sharp tip for the end. His shield would be wood, with leather wrapped all around it. within the wrapped part he could add Bones to reinforce. His Rifle would be a standard flintlock with a long bore barrel. Now by 1719 the upgraded version for the Musket was around, so between 1720 and 1880 upgrades were done. During 1719 think of the Indian as a light weight knight on a very fast horse. It was these early trades, and friendships they made with other foreign people, that pushed them somewhat out of the stone and wood age. During many wars, they will pick up more advance weapons on the field. Sad to say, the bow became a secondary weapon if your flintlock\arquebus pistol failed. So at 1719 our Indians in this move should have been a tiny match for the predator. Not some 95lb girl, that in real history would be killed trying to change roles in her tribe. But still a good movie, just needs to get things correct, and expand on some stuff.
Fun Fact: The predators always follow a rule, they won't attack someone who is unarmed/ can't defend themselves, a child, someone who is fatally ill or pregnant woman.
*Hopfully we get a sequel to this prequel and find out how they got the gun back. Perhaps she can pass the pistol onto on to her child which somehow makes it into the hands of a civil war soilder or rather revoulationary war soilders platoon (American or British) and the predator kills the platoon and takes it from them. I think that would make for a perfect transition and connection to the Predator 2 films ending.*
Maybe they just come back the next day after hearing of this mighty warrior and she gets easily despinal corded like what actually should have happened in the movie by a Predator that wasn't as stupid as this one.
Is it a different breed that comes to get it? Danny Glover got it from a different looking type of predator. I am thinking like there are two types like in Predators and this predator in prey looking like the bigger ones.

My dumbass skipped looking for any after credits 😅. I wonder if they gave her something like a gift, cause they wont slaughter an entire tribe out of spite right?
Prey is genius because the Predator and Naru’s stories are parallel to each other. Both are trying to prove something, not just to themselves, but also to their respective tribes. For any of us that follow Predator Lore we know that they are accepted into what is equivalent to a tribe only if they hunt a worthy warrior. The bear fight shows how the Predator, even though he has strength and tech on his side, is out of his element. The bear actually overpowers the Predator and there is even a moment where the bear stands on top of the Predator with the green glowing blood running through its mouth. The only reason the Predator is able to kill the bear is because the bear turns its back and gets cocky. Naru exploits the Predator being out of its element by studying it. It learn it patterns, how it uses its weapon, and how to use her skills as a hunter and gatherer to outsmart the Predator. It’s actually not such a far fetched idea that Naru could kill the Predator this way because that’s how Dutch did it in the original movie. When the Predator takes off all his weapons and fights Dutch, Dutch gets brutalized by the Predator. Only by outsmarting it does the Dutch kill the Predator. Naru does the same thing, but in her own way. But the fact that they are both after same thing shows the theme of commonality even with rivals.
Pedro, did you actually watch the movie?? Or you based your comment only on reviews you have read here and there?? Where exactly were brains involved in Naru defeating the Predator??? Maybe when she jumped on it and starting stabbing it with her axe? Maybe when she chopped his arm off?? Maybe when she pulled out it's tooth (!!!) with her bare hand(!!!) and then stabbed it in the eye with it??? Or maybe when she crawled between it's legs, tied her rope around it's neck and then dragged it into the mud lake, as if the Predator was light as a feather or as if she possessed the strength of Wonder Woman??? You compare this to the 1987 film final fight??? In which Dutch managed to deliver just one blow, which only tickled the Predator???? Dude, the film was woke from the beginning. But, for sure, it broke the wokeness world record in the final fight sequence : not only Naru had to outsmart the Predator (which to be honest is something that I could buy...I mean, there is always a chance that this is a stupid Predator , isn't it?), but she had to overpower it physically as well! And boy, she did that, didn't she?? She had to excel in every domain, both brains AND muscles. Wanna know why? Because, of course, "girl power"! Oh, and because of another reason: "VAGINA"!!! An absolute woke disaster for me, by far the worst movie of the franchise, AVP's included...Total score :0/10, for your "genius" of a film...! God bless you, boy, you made me laugh!
@@demetriskatsianis2396 Yes because while you are right that anything taken can be taken into an extreme or illogical place, this is not what is happening with this film because the message is executed correctly without coming off entitled or just bitter and angry. Are there some extreme feminism films, which outright mocks all men as misogynists?Sure. But this isn’t one of them. This film didn't do that in many ways, one of which was the fact the tribe never had a law or rule preventing her from becoming a hunter. It was just women in general are not as physically strong as men and so the hard task of hunting were given to the men. Naru wanted to prove she can do it too. She never expressed any entitlement, demanding to be respected or demanding to be equal. The film was about her "proving" she can hunt and she did. The other point was her older brother Taabe, who was a very strong and able hunter, but also one that watched over her like a mentor and protector, in which she looks up to as a father figure (since her father died.) So this film absolutely did not "put down" or mock men. Taabe was also very encouraging of Naru to become a hunter. The feel of this film is very relatable if you are someone who had that one little sister that followed you around your whole childhood wanting to be like you. When you are with your friends, she wants to tag along, she wants to do the things you do like play basketball, skateboard, etc... Naru comes off not really as a feminist, but as a tomboy. This is why I find a lot of political criticism of this film really unwarranted. Funny enough, when you think about it, Some conservative value are represented here such as training their daughters to use guns, exercise their 2A rights, to not run from bad guys, but to fight back. So why would this film be considered "woke?" This film did not have a feel of victim playing, entitled equality, or anti-male feminism. It is about a young woman who wants to be more than what she is expected to be, who wants to break traditional expectations, and yes... it is specifically gender expectations. But as I stated earlier, any good thing can become bad if taken to an extreme. This film did not do that and it executed their point quite well.
@@pedroportillo1585 So, you did not get that through the entire film Naru is shown to be better in any way than almost every male of her tribe? I mean, she had to be better even in hand to hand combat against probably the strongest man of her tribe! The guy couldn't deliver not even a single blow!! The scene when she wakes up to do the housework? When she gets out of the tipi and sees the other women going to start their houseworks with their children in their backs? Do you remember the disgust on her face? Do you remember her throwing down her bag and picking up her bow instead? It was a scene that showed absolute disapproval for the way other women HAD CHOSEN to live, and also showed disrespect against the female instinct of motherhood. Do you imagine how insulting this scene could be against women who desire to have children but they cannot because of let's say medical issues?? That scene was crying out : "I am far better than this! I am far better than any of you!! I will show you all!!!". The ending scene, after she defeated the Predator : a big smile on her face! No tears, no sadness for her dead brother. Because him dying was not that important as her accomplishing her goal, to prove herself worthy of not doing the house work!! Her own brother...So much for looking up for him...! Also, little sisters when they play soccer with their big brothers do not disagree with him on how their team should attack...They do not feel sad when their brother scores the winning goal...Little sisters who look up to their brothers are happy when their brother excels...Most of the times...And this usually stops by the age of 12-13...Dude, that chick had "toxic feminism" written all over her face!! Anyways, dude, I do not really care about the feminism or the wokeness of the movie. I have watched excessively woke movies without a problem, given that they did not mess up the plot. My main issue of this film is that, in order for the main character to reach her final goal (proving herself worthy, that is...) they lowered the Predator creature in a humiliatingly low level. This movie could easily not have been a Predator movie. They could have used a bear or even a vicious French fur trapper as the ultimate Prey for Naru to prove herself better than any woman who wants to create life inside her body...
My two fave scenes are the shield decapitation and where Naru uses trappers boss as bait. As she becomes predator herself being invisible to predator. It gives me chills
It was neat, it feels kinda silly though watching the short version and seeing what it does to the bear and then this tiny human can do basically anything and not be ripped to pieces
I like how in the end, during the final fight and Naru’s crowning as the new War Chief, they play music that’s slower, yet similar to one of the main themes in the film, liThe Last of the Mohicans-- Song being “Promontory”
Personally, I liked how she was smiling, having obviously already forgotten the deaths of so many men from her tribe and, mainly, her brother's sacrifice...A normal reaction would be her bursting into tears. But I guess that would spoil the "strong, independent, absolutely badass woman" agenda of the film, wouldn't it?? Most unlikeable main character ever... Congrats, mr. Trachtenberg!!!! (as for those who dare to compare this abomination with the 1987 masterpiece, just compare Dutches expression and completely void look after the final kill to those of Naru...)
You missed the mid-credits scene ;) If one can call it that. I also highly enjoyed the movie, it certainly brought a fresh wind in the franchise. I also liked how the natives are never like "weird speaking savage people" (if that makes sense), they are humans like everyone else. I think it would have deserved a bit more budget and a cinematic release. I wasnt sure if the trappers were a bit comical, however, we see them through naru's eyes - and she sees them as these weird but also dangerous people. So it works I think. However, even though I liked how hard to kill this predator was, I wondered if it would have been taken down by a log like in the first movie. Maybe it was a bit too indestructible? But it works as a movie monster in a world without machine guns very well.
Remember that this Predator is young and rookie, he isnt like Scar or Wolf, its his first real hunt and still he is so op, just had bad luck with true Comanche warriors
movie of the year for me... i've already watched it over 10 times and I've watched so many reactions... This particular predator is a young blood inexperienced and feral..As they get more hunts under their belts and skill they upgrade their weaponry.. More than likely he's being watched by the others of his species.. by the way the end of the movie with the moving paintings there's going to be another one...Also what is handed to the chief is the item seen in another movie in the franchise linking it all up.. Watch all the other predator movies to at least get what's going on... Love the continuity.. this is a Very special movie I love it
@@bigdaddyc4471 IMO, they are not movie fans. They are just "activists wanna be" who got interested in this movie only because their friends informed them on the anti-woke reactions it has triggered...
If you want more backstory about how the Predators work, Predator 2 (with Danny Glover) is a solid sequel to the first, and has a reveal that gives you a tiny glimpse into what they are and how they operate, without completely wrecking the mystique of the villain.
The actress sid the worst day on set was when she had to swim in the ice cold river water. The final gun was the same gun as in Predator 2. I think Prey's director was one of Arnold's soldier's from Predator.
I loveeeee how the original Predator motif/theme is sprinkled throughout the movie, but slightly different to give it a new flare, and personally I find it to be almost Creepy now compared to the original theme which had more action vibes for me. It was a good fresh take all around, while holding true to the first 2 movies at the same time. I loved this movie
Billy in the original movie was part Sioux, not Comanche, so there's no direct correlation, but I liked how the pouch Naru used to keep the orange totsiyaa in looked similar to the pouch Billy had around his neck.
It's a brilliant scene. It showed us how physically imposing the Yautja are to reinforce the fact that human muscles mean jack shit to this creature. Only brains and speed matter when you confront a Predator, but it also showed us how incredibly reckless this Yautja was.
@@yannym4605 Can you remind me how exactly did the Predator beat the bear?? Do you consider a punch to be a matter of brains or brute force?? Do not mess different fighting styles with intelligence. It's like having a boxer fighting against a Sumo wrestler...Using more efficient fighting technique has nothing to do with brains. It has only to do with fighting agility. Even if brains are included, you can never say that a Predator is as dumb compared to human as a bear compared to a Predator...I mean, he was the one visiting Naru's planet on a space ship, not the other way around, right??
22:38 In the Alien vs Predator movie, it's shown that they have a net that tightens up and will cut through most anything it gets wrapped around. It was brought back for this movie and shown it working through in a very fast and devastating manner.
@@bigdaddyc4471 It was also in AVP, Scott is right. T think it was used twice in AVP, first against a human, the military leader of the expedition, and then on the Alien (who was named "Grid", after the marks this net left on it).
I like that for Predator lore fans, they added the additional story parallel of this being this predators first hunt, his trial, just like this is Naru's
21:40 The French took him there because they knew the ashes would stick to his body and prevent the predator from using his invisible camouflage. That is one of the big questions that the movie left, apparently the French knew what kind of creature the predator was and what was the purpose of his stay on earth
The predator doesn't give sympathy to weaker prey. It doesn't engage with creatures that it doesn't find as a threat. The Predator didn't have compassion for her because she was caught in the trap, it didn't look at her as a threat. Predator's don't have compassion. They simply have a code of conduct. They fight the best of the best as sport.
The trappers were trying to bait the Predator like they would a wolf. Thinking it might go for an easy kill, but they didn't know it was looking for a challenge, an equal.
Get an alarm clock that wakes you up with a gradual light, that finishes with an alarm. Eventually you'll wake up to the light before the alarm, and that means no more alarms. It's so much better.
Great reaction and great movie. The only noticeable flaw, and maybe this is nitpicking: it doesn't make sense that she was the only person who saw and heard the ship. Otherwise, one of the best of the Predator series.
If you noticed that, I believe you should have more than only this one, Like example how the dog got '' Tail'' caught in it. Trap set on pressure, yes. Speed of dog, okay. But still tail is high enough for the trap's'' teeth'' to catch it. No? And list could go on.
And a snake which received a bladed weapon through the head and skinned alive from head to tail which was still alive. And if this was a "reflex", it must be noted that the snake was killed while it was still daylight but not found until after nightfall. Reflex action in this scenario seems implausible. Im sure the all seeing and all wise Matrim42 would vehemently argue this point.
@@toddhill7483 Entertaining yes. But not to the level it gets its prizes. The thing with was when I watched those things put Me out of whole ''Film watching experience'' so to speak.
Another thing I liked is the way they portrayed the female character. She wasn’t the best at everything, not the strongest, not the fastest. But she was quick thinking, able to improvise, and use her perceived weaknesses to her advantage. All the men were better warriors, stronger, faster, more agile, but she was the better hunter because of her intelligence, cunning, and her ability to adapt. It was a good call back to the original with Dutch’s traps, while also avoiding potential criticism that she was a Mary sue who could do everything and was better at everything. I’ll say it again, I really love this movie, and I really LOVE Amber as an Actor, and give credit to the writers for writing such a well fleshed out character, who has many flaws and issues, but adapts and overcomes, instead of a straight Mary Sue plot armor person.
I also watched this movie just now in HULU....really awesome👍 this movie links with Naru holding the 1719 flintlock pistol which later in Predator 2 ending the Superior Predator gives it as a trophy to Lieutenant Mike Harrigan....
I love the parallels between the main character and the predator. But of them were taken for granted, both of them are great trackers. Both of them are highly resourceful. Both are a problem in combat. But Amber's character is in survival mode almost the whole time, which kinda gives her an edge: the predator wants this; She NEEDS this.
About the question regarding the collecting of skulls on each trip: at least, in the books and stuff, those trophies and hunts for honor and all that are legit how they get the ladies and that's so funny to me. 😝 Some Predator out there like "Behold, my stuff." 😂
This is so good. The main protagonist struggles and learns to overcome her obstacles. She doesn't come prepackaged with the ability to just beat everybody.
they dont really tell you "why" in the movie, but its understood in the Lore of PREDATOR, they use Earth as a hunting grounds for the Young Hunter to Test them selves and or Practice
11:00 Yeah they're all different individual Predators. They collect trophies because the hunters with the best collection of trophies are the ones who get chosen by females to mate.
This movie was excellent!!! I'm so glad that she remembered Billy being indigenous & if I'm not mistaken, that was his tribe name and he mentioned the predator in the first film
The movie was solid. I don't know why they were afraid to release it on Cinemas, but i loved it. I didn't expected much from it, but it literally surprised me.
They probably were afraid it was gonna bomb like the last one did. I really enjoyed Prey, even two of the OG actors from Predator praised this film. People already wanting another one set in Feudal Japan, with Hiroyuki Sanada as the lead.
I think it's taking studios a while to come back to theatrical releases after the whole COVID shut down. Plus, Disney is wanting to put some energy into FOX on Hulu and it looks like it worked. Heck, I got a free trial just so I could watch this. I think this is the biggest premiere Hulu has ever had? Granted, that's not a lot but it's good to know that people went to where the movie was and watched it.
I enjoyed "Prey" much more than the previous movies. The previous movies sucked for a bunch of reasons but Prey stuck to the basics. No cussing, random sex scene, or goofy autism superpowers plot twists. Just straight-up OG survival, problem-solving, and brutal combat. Some things could have been better, sure, but it was a good comeback for the series.
Hi Ariana I just finished watching your reaction to the prey movie on Hulu I myself saw this movie like five times my favorite one plus I also enjoyed your reaction to the first predator on Schwarzenegger 1987 4 months ago great reaction and I loved your reaction to this movie too your reaction to the fight scenes was incredible too and how the Predator was going to be defeated it looks like you love watching this movie so much cuz I love your reaction to it as well. PS Ariana I have a question to ask you are you going to see the other three Predators movies you missed out on like Predator 2 1990 and predators 3 2010 and The predator 4 2018 because if you are planning to watch those three other planet movies I'd be happy to watch your reaction and watch it with you on your RUclips channel but let me know if you plan on watching Predator two and three and four. Funny thing is, arrows won’t do anything to a grizzly bear. Guns, even when aimed to the head won’t kill a grizzly, unless it’s a shotgun or a huge caliber lol. Also, the predator doesn’t have/use a shield (with the exception of the circular wrist contraption), what you were seeing was just the camouflage tech.
Yautja, each is it's own hunter and each Predator movie had a different type. Pleasantly surprised with your commentary and knowledge of the Predator universe. Good reaction!!
I love the little subtle moments where even the predator is kinda disappointed with the French colonizers. Like: wow you guys have no respect for the actual planet you walk on? Like when he clenched his fist in burned out forest.
Or when the guy pulls a knife and the Predator look at it like "really?" and then decapitates him. Or when he stood in front of the guy that was shooting him just for the bullet to ricochet of the helmet
I find it hard to believe the predator was disappointed in the fur trappers (I don't think they were settling the area) considering it was also taking the skins of animals without eating them. If anything he probably found that all too familiar as a brutal trophy hunter himself. I do wonder why they burned the forest though. Perhaps they somehow knew the ash would interfere with the cloaking device? If that's the case, then that was actually a pretty clever way of evening the playing field. Regardless, it is damned silly to try to ascribe human morality to an alien creature who is intent on slaughtering things for no other reason than to prove itself strong. Feeling a kinship with the monster that heartlessly slaughtered people because viewers warped his actions to line up with modern morals is kind of cringe tbh. I doubt this thing feels any "respect for the actual planet you walk on" either. The strength of a worthy challenge is the only thing this hunter respects.
I about screamed the house down lol. I loved your reaction. So emotional as usual. BUT all the movie aside, you are the ONLY reactor I have watched that clicked that Naru is now the new War Chief. For some reason I just KNEW you'd be the one to spot that. 😊
I just understood now, it was the Predator finding the skinned American Buffaloes and finding evidence humans did it, that attracted him to them as his next challenge to face-off against when he finds them.
The only problem i have with this film is a small one. It's where the coyote chases the rabbit. When a rabbit runs from a predator they do not run in a straight line. They zig-zag.
They say they really payed a lot of detail. That it’s really historical accurate to how the tribes lived and they had no like stereotypes. U should look into it , it’s pretty cool.

You missed the egg in the end credits. The paintings show a nice hint at the end. Also you should have recognized the flintlock pistol. It's the one that Danny Glover got in Predator 2 from the elder Predator. Also there are several subspecies of the Predator race. This is a different subspecies from the ones we have seen before. Think in total there are 8 or such so far (don't quote me on that).
@@willmartin7293 Honestly other youtubers who have done videos on it. I only started looking myself after watching Prey because it looks self evident to me that there are different sub-species/factions/whatever you wanna call it that have come up in the various movies. Of course this instantly starts up a debate about which movies should be considered canon and which should not so that is one sticky area I am not getting my feet wet on. Hence why I said don't quote me.
@@xConundrumx Yes, this is true. 2 notes on that. Since the Predator is the creation of the 1987 film makers, in my opinion, whenever John Davis is in the production, the movie should be considered canon. My point is that Predator is a cinema invented character, not comics invented. So, by default, this Predator species is canon. The fact that it is proven to be a total moron is a convenience created to push "the message" through. So, Dan Trachtenberg is officially "the father of the most impotent Predator ever"...!
I hope Arianna knows there's a story of the Predator before Prey which takes place in the year 1819 "remember the name, Raphael Adolini?" This is technically Prey 2 but shit happened in the year 1715 Watch this space!
I don’t think the predator necessarily respects or disrespects anything rather the reason and purpose for its existence on the planet is to encounter danger and overcome it. A good way to think about it is he’s like a dark souls player, he’s here to fight the biggest and baddest things he can find no matter what they could be. Likely for him this planet is completely uncharted a new and he was just thrown down here for a hunt.
Fun fact: Even the 2 actors from the 1st predator praised it as well and it's another pass of the torch moment for this actress.

Not big enough to be a berserker pred, was confirmed a different subspecies by the writers
You are calling an bad omen (or evil in the dark) to you.
i was always told it calls bad spirits

@@SaRENRampaiger Here's what i think about those things:
1. the skull helmet might be the case of the predator being prideful, wearing the helmet of a creature he took down is a great accomplishment
2. he didn't have any plasma canons because he was out on earth to prove himself to the elders, afterwards they gift him the plasma canon, that's how was done in avp movie and a glimpse in here aswell
3. he's probably not wearing any armor because he enjoys the thrill of battle, and might even take damage on purpose to fully embrace the fight, hence why he has so many scars on his body

And in the movie, before final fight, Naru was running away. Or did you miss that?

Naru didn't lack skill; she lacked confidence in her skills. She ran away even after her brother died. It was by the river that she finally found her courage. Finally said enough. If this was fire then what's water?
problem is, it cant be 1719 in the movie.
@@demetriskatsianis2396 Well, someone’s triggered, isn’t he?
@@pedroportillo1585 Of course I'm triggered, because I watched a parody of a movie! Do you find my arguments irrational?
So why would this film be considered "woke?"
This film did not have a feel of victim playing, entitled equality, or anti-male feminism.
Bears who don't die at once, do hunt the hunter. And mother bears are even more aggressive!
I like how the predator is learning and adapting same as Naru
That's Elizabeth Warren's fantastical indigenous biography, Warren in the Wonderland. 🤣
movie of the year for me... i've already watched it over 10 times and I've watched so many reactions... Love the continuity.. this is a Very special movie I love it
your being sarcastic right?
Agreed, the best Predator that I have seen.

@@pennze na dude these people are nuts and know nothing about the franchise the are bandwagon fans
I’m sure their father told Tabee the “This is as far as you go…” thing to him, so it’s very sweet that he teaches it to his sister.
The pistol is a called back from Predator 2.
The pistol is a connection to Predator 2, it's gifted to Danny Glover's character at the end by the lead predator on the space ship.
A bit late on this but a fun piece of trivia is that for some of these scenes they used a really complex real suit with movable jaws etc.
I'm smarter than a beaver, "yeah you are girl ". Never thought I would hear someone get a shout out for being smarter than a beaver. 😃
I just watched this last night, nice to see my people in a big movie especially against the predator🔥
Isn't it crazy to think, if the bear didn't stop attacking the Predator, it would've killed him. lol. Movie over.
It's from predator 2 u noob
Oh, my bad, forgive me for only seeing that movie once two decades ago.
@@bigdaddyc4471 It was also in AVP, Scott is right. T think it was used twice in AVP, first against a human, the military leader of the expedition, and then on the Alien (who was named "Grid", after the marks this net left on it).
I've not even finished your reaction, but yours is probably the best because you made ever point that was needed to be made. Thanks.
I think the producers said this takes place in the general area of northern Montana/southern Saskatchewan.
The pistol she got at the end makes sense in predator 2. Have ypu seen predator 2, its alright not as good as the first of cpurse
Otherwise, one of the best of the Predator series.
it's a common horror trope tho!
common when its a masked man behind a bush. not when its a huge and loud space ship that rearranges the clouds in a world pre airplanes.
Amber Midthunder has come a long way since Hell or High Water.
This blew my mind a bit.
fun fact. naru is actually an ancestor to Billy from the OG predator 😊
21:26 the amount of force it would take to throw a spear like that through a tree in that way from distance is insane.
This is so good. The main protagonist struggles and learns to overcome her obstacles. She doesn't come prepackaged with the ability to just beat everybody.
Bro the music and like the theme fro this predator was bone chilling fr. They really pulled through with this movie I'm so happy
they dont really tell you "why" in the movie, but its understood in the Lore of PREDATOR, they use Earth as a hunting grounds for the Young Hunter to Test them selves and or Practice
Also around his neck is a leather pouch just like narus.
Billy was of Sioux descent. The natives in this movie are supposed to be Comanche.
The only thing I can think of is because the last one was garbage that would have a negative effect on this one.
@@nickgjenkins Which gives Disney an incentive to start releasing more movies on Hulu like Alien or some other Fox franchise
@@luxurybuzz3681 Exactly. Which makes me happy(ish).
@Tacitus G. Kilgore honestly good point. Predators with Brody wasn’t bad, and the original was good
Hi Ariana I just finished watching your reaction to the prey movie on Hulu I myself saw this movie like five times my favorite one plus I also enjoyed your reaction to the first predator on Schwarzenegger 1987 4 months ago great reaction and I loved your reaction to this movie too your reaction to the fight scenes was incredible too and how the Predator was going to be defeated it looks like you love watching this movie so much cuz I love your reaction to it as well.
Many loves and supporting from me I'm a fan of your reaction videos see you in your next reaction video ✌💌
It's sooo fun watching movies with you guys!!!
Thanks man!
You need to do predator 2 now as the pistol she got comes into play which is how they tied it into the existing predator lore..✌
I about screamed the house down lol. I loved your reaction. So emotional as usual. BUT all the movie aside, you are the ONLY reactor I have watched that clicked that Naru is now the new War Chief. For some reason I just KNEW you'd be the one to spot that. 😊
Dunno if someone mentioned it already... the Pistol she used was the one that was used in Predator 2 aswell! Cheers..keep going!
I just understood now, it was the Predator finding the skinned American Buffaloes and finding evidence humans did it, that attracted him to them as his next challenge to face-off against when he finds them.
I came across one of your reactions videos yesterday and I been watching u non stop lol I started following after the first video keep it going :)
The only problem i have with this film is a small one. It's where the coyote chases the rabbit. When a rabbit runs from a predator they do not run in a straight line. They zig-zag.
that was your only issue with the whole movie?
There's an Egg to Predator 2 in this movie. I was like "Wow" when I seen it...
They say they really payed a lot of detail. That it’s really historical accurate to how the tribes lived and they had no like stereotypes. U should look into it , it’s pretty cool.
In this movie, there is alot of First Nation lore. The mother kicking the daughter is First Nation lore, the ant scene. First Nation lore.
now you need to watch predator 2 to get the reference from that one!
5 years later the radium in the Predator blood she is wearing gave her leukemia
Fun Fact: According to the lore, Predator's blood can make a person live for a long time.
@@danielruiz8259 Yeah, it reminds me of the misconception that the White Rhino's horn if consumed by men, turns them into "sexual tyrannosaurus"...And White Rhinos are no more...
i personally loved the movie. i wish it had been performed in spoken (not dubbed) comanche. the setting was unique and the use of a native cast was refreshing, esp a female lead outwitting a technologically and physically superior opponent.
From my understanding, this indian tribe was the Comanche! They were ruthless in fighting tactics.
Where did you learn about the Yuat'ja subspecies?
So, Dan Trachtenberg is officially "the father of the most impotent Predator ever"...!
the cuts on the kills are some next level blueball shit
Blame youtube. I complain to them about it every chance I get.
I hope Arianna knows there's a story of the Predator before Prey which takes place in the year 1819 "remember the name, Raphael Adolini?"
This is technically Prey 2 but shit happened in the year 1715 Watch this space!
I saw Prey on Hulu when it came out. It was an awesome movie
"If it bleeds..... we can KILL IT" ... very nice touch to the original.
I always cheer for the Predotor in these movies
