Tales of Asgard is pretty cool, has alot of classic thor stories but it draws closer to the actual Norse Myths than the comic book universe, I guess stan lee and jack kirby made it just after they introduced thor to make evryone get to know the Gods of asgard?

Godbomb is one of the best. The one with yggdrasil's seed and odin fighting galactus is good too.
The fights are awesome (Thor vs Silver Surfer, Odin vs Galactus, etc.), but the story overall is very poorly written...

Those are just two examples of many other ancient civilizations in the Marvel universe

I think Marvel tries to throw in the polytheistic religions as characters when dealing with Thor and Hercules. They usually refer to the teamings as "The God Squad".

great video! the god butcher and the god bomb story lines are really great! they're pretty recent, so it might be a good place for newcomers to get on board with the characters more recent stories

It's not the most popular story out there but, Fear Itself was Thor-centric and I really liked that one. There's also Thor Disassembled, The first arc of Thor's return with Thor Vol. 3, and the God Butcher/God bomb arcs, all of which would make great complete stories.
The best story from Thor would be from issue 295 to 300 of the original run, in which Thor prepares for and then battles the Celestials and a LOT of his own origin is further explained in that story arc, even revealing he his other sister

Poor Loki, even in the comics Thor and Odin treat him badly. He just wanted to start some mischief and Thor is like "I WILL STOP YOU WITH VIOLENCE!" Loki just wanted to lift Mjolnir so he could save Sif.
"By my beard!" has to be the best line ever spoken by Odin, though.
Benny, I'm not too familiar with Thor myself but Jason Aaron's first 20 or so issue's of Thor's Marvel Now relaunch is a great place to start
For Thor comics you should do God Butcher and God Bomb. Thor battles a god killer throughout time. It is also a good starting point for people wanting to get into Thor.

As for Thor stories:
- Surtur Saga - every true Thor fan and their kid between the ages of 30-50 should know this epic run
- the time around the 300th anniversary issue #375-382 (yeah the one where Loki amps up a straight Bobby Drake to omega level power... so much that Bobby needs the power dampening belt to keep himself from freezing solid) Yes it was only a short time after the Surtur saga but the writing was still epic

Hell, just pick any Walt Simonson issue from the 80's and it's gold: Beta Ray Bill, Surtur attacks Asgard, Death of Odin. Awesome stuff!

+Comicstorian Almost all of Jason Aarons Thor series is in my opinion fantastic so I would recommend doing a reading of Thor: God of Thunder or The Mighty Thor: Galactus Seed

i'm not sure if it's just a movie or if it was based of a comic but my favorite Thor story would have to be Thor: Tales of Asguard it's the story of him and Loki as children before he had even picked Milonir up

MY favorite stories is the battle with beta ray bill where Thor meets the alien who claims Mjonir as his own until thor summons both thor and beta ray bill to asgard. To decide who gets the hammer he has the two fight to see who gets it. Another story Is thor for awhile couldn't die, but couldn't heal from his injuries because of Hela.
Great video guys! If possible, can you do an origin for the female Thor? I feel like that would help a lot of non-Marvel refers understand her.
She is lame, nothing more to understand... They revealed her identity now, so there really is no reason to read anything from her now...

KillerMonkeyKram Kinda. Its not absolutly confirmed, but its very heavily hammered (wink ;) in Thor #8. Her name is Roz Solomon and she's a Shield agent that Thor used to bang before becoming unworthy. They were giving her origin through the story and showed her get on the blue side of the Moon (there is oxygen there) where Thor left Mjolnir after Original Sin. Then they cut to she-thor getting her ass beat by Destroyer and the real Thor arrives with every female heroes in Marvel (including Enchantress, Valkyrie and Sif - confirming its not them) through the Bifrost, which kinda looks like a Gay Pride Flag (cdn.bleedingcool.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Thor_8_Preview_1.jpg). As you can see Im not a fan of that change, but I dislike the poor writting of these stories even more.

KillerMonkeyKram Oh its not the change that bother me or that she is a female (I mean they replaced Thor with a frog and a horse-faced alien and I had no problem), its the way its done that I dont like. It feels like forced feminism and its like the worst way to do it. I find it borderline insulting to female, because
1. She has to take the identity of a man to be someone herself (Thor is name, not a mantle).
2. With writing like this (www.reaxxion.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/kdompoz.jpg), its just ridiculous.

Thor #349-#353 is a good story. When Odin was young, he and his brothers Vili and Ve entered the land of Muspelheim looking for adventure. The demons ushered the trio into the presence of their lord Surtur and Odin asked if it is true the Demon King would someday destroy the Nine Worlds with fire. On hearing the affirmative, Odin battles Surtur and destroyed his sword. Snatching up the Eternal Flame of Destruction with which Surtur will kindle the fires, the brothers escaped. Vili and Ve sacrificed their lives to prevent Surtur from following-and Odin gained their strength, creating the Odinpower.
