First time actively picking up DC was infinite crisis on infinite earths when Conner Kent super boy got killed by Super Boy Prime. But on to this topic I remember being so excited to finally read Thor comics and man did I chose an excellent time with this run

You say that you want to help people, but you can't feel their pain their mortality. It's time you learn what it means to be a man."
Superman doesn't want to be a god. Thor accepts that he is, but does his damnest to be a good one without being a pushover. They both learned the price of wielding such power
thor also respects the common folk and poor people both in mythology and in marvel, just before this fight, a random person blamed thor for something, and thor humbly accepted his failures and didn't lash out at that guy, he only lashed out at tony and the us government

All so they can ‘set an example’ for anyone who tries to stop them, or to destroy important evidence that could have shut them in the slammer for decades/life. Exactly! Thor is not some alien. He is a LITERAL God! The Norse God of storms, lightning, thunder, battle frenzy, oak trees, healing... and frogs, for some reason. He is all the power of the wild storms of the North Sea given physical form! His power makes giants tremble, renders other deities powerless, and could destroy entire civilizations if he so chose. The only reason he didn't reduce Tony to a bloody smear on the ground was because Cap wouldn't want it.
Sentry is even more unstable than the Hulk. His mental illness often makes him a huge liability. He's only brought in when there's absolutely no other choice. It's like having Superman on your team but he's a severe Schizophrenic.
Thor could accidentally break a planet if he doesn't hold back. Robert Reynolds can accidentally shatter the universe. Bringing him to fight Thor would like bringing a nuke that explodes whenever it feels like it to a knife fight.

I really like this portrayal of Thor, i mean, he's a full on god of this universe i like it when they acknowledge that he's on a whole different level to the mortals.
Stark seriously tried to demand that Thor submit to his own Yankee overlords .The KING who can destroy Washington D.C. and almost every U.S. military base in seconds .And tried to do this after violently persecuting , opressing and ruining the Life of all of said King's friends for the crime of risking their Lives to save those of others and stealing his Genes to make a robotic abomination that defiled his image and murdered one of his friends .Oof , that was not going to go well .

I love how iron man actually learned his lesson
Picture if Thor was on Earth at the time of the Civil War.
Iron Man and the Pro-Registration faction never would have had a chance.
"Thor decided to hit a home run with Ironman...." MANNNNNN! 💀💀💀💀
Tony needed to catch this fade.
really wanna read this storyline now, Thor gave me shivers just then
It’s Civil War and Ragnarok, I think, I remembers owning the Civil War comic, but I forgot where tf I put it lol.
*This* is Thor. Badass and righteous with control over his rage even when he’s willing to show, *especially* when he’s willing to show it.
Meanwhile, in the MCU, Civil War happens because Cap is trying to save Bucky from Hydra’s grasp and the government wants to absorb the Avengers while Thor and Hulk have a romcom adventure on top of what’s supposed to be the foundations for the Planet Hulk story, one of Marvel’s most successful comic stories.
naw he really humbled tony, disrespectfully too.
Thor was like "Bitch I am a god, know your place."
Tony deserved it tbh

i love these “___ stops holding back” videos! this is the reason why i watch you.
Thor comics: King of asgard and Gigachads
Thor movies: King of hipsters and being a joke
On purpose. Cant have a hero of strength and valor in that flavor.
They had to nerf him. Thor would’ve just soloed all the villains with ease.
@@rugtub3744 What do you mean by "in that flavor"
@@SoyDrinker So often I get people asking me questions like that. Its strange to me, because they know exactly what I mean, but ask anyways.

@@rugtub3744 I mean I could potentially guess what you mean but it doesn't really make sense when you look at 80% of the heroes in this franchise that are shown as strong and valorous, so the only thing I can assume is that you are really dumb, or I'm misunderstanding.
Norman Osborn: "Well...if you want something done right, do it yourself."
What I like most about this scene is that Thor isn't even threatening anyone. He's just telling them the straight up reality of what standing against a literal god will bring.
I like this Thor a lot. He is not an earthling. He is a GOD!
Seeing this version of Thor makes me realize how the MCU did him dirty
Loved when Thor was like, it’s thorbin time and thorbed tony
Jail 🤣
If only Thor can do that to the writers
LOL the blind hubris in thinking they can threaten asgard, let alone “take it”🤣😂
Tony especially forgot that Thor is used to dealing with other people's hubris. After all, he grew up with Loki
This is the Thor I want from mcu

And so the thundergod grabbed the defenseless human by the throat and ripped off his mask. He then drew the fearful warrior close to his face, and in a cool, calm voice he said to him:
NERD
I got into marvel comics right when the first civil war was going down. First time actively collecting Spider-Man comics was picking up the issue where he fights Captain America. First time actively picking up DC was infinite crisis on infinite earths when Conner Kent super boy got killed by Super Boy Prime.
I had read some comics when I was a kid but it was just a few random comics. Civil war was the first time using my own money to buy comics.
But on to this topic I remember being so excited to finally read Thor comics and man did I chose an excellent time with this run
This is what makes superman different from Thor. He sees himself no different from humanity since he grew up with us. As Batman always said: "You're not brave, men are brave.
This is the real Thor, that would demolish Captain Marvel and EVERYONE else, Hulk included. Fuck the M-She-U
Superman vs Batman no holding back + prep time be like:
More like all-out Superman vs Batman without plot armor
@@gabrielluzlopes5674 Batman *never* underestimates the fact that he's a mortal even without plot armor to protect him.
Tony doesn't like to think about being mortal
While reading civil war when I got this part it was immensely satisfying. While I know that their were outside forces that pushed tony to sign/enact the registration act he was still a d**k seeing thor just walk up and show the sheer difference between a man and a god was beyond satisfying 😏
I loved this era of comics
You should cover taskmaster and constictors ark going through avengers academy and siege
Great channel btw
linkara once mention how writers express their satisfaction with civil war by having other character beat the crap out of tony..
and he was right... its so satisfying every time it happened XD
As a casual who read like 2 comics but played lots of video games. This is how I always viewed the Avengers pre MCU. Hulk, Thor then a bunch of humans who can and will get CLAPPED
Most satisfying moment on Marvel comics
i'm still surprised that iron man is still friends with spiderman, thor, hulk etc after all the civil war bullshit that happened.
Yeah this is a problem I have with that storyline
@@Galvatronover I guess after secret wars 2015 everyone turned over a new leaf
Because insted of writte a good story where both sides had a point Civil War character assassinated Tony to be the bad guy for the event and most people agree that It was a stupid decision and just try to ignore or fix It.
@@Gabe600Oh, both sides had a point, in fact, those points wouldn’t have crossed as bad had one (Tony) not been such a bitch about the biggest issue the other side had.
Secret identities are important. F^ck, we have the f^cking witness protection program *BECAUSE* it is a well known fact that when criminals know the details of ether a law enforcement agent’s life, or a key witness to a horrific or big crime goes to testify, the criminals will use their connections to have that person killed or worse, have their family ether slaughtered or tortured. All so they can ‘set an example’ for anyone who tries to stop them, or to destroy important evidence that could have shut them in the slammer for decades/life.
So we know that for f^cking witsec, yet the same f^cking mercy wasn’t being extended to the heroes who put their lives on the line DAILY?!?
That’s where Tony crossed the line. Had he conceded on that simple point, I bet a massive amount more of the heroes would have signed up then. That was their only concern, and Tony proved their point valid when he allowed Spider Man’s life to be destroyed.
@@Noriniatony was terribly out of character during civil war so that the heroes could fight
Holy, this was badass. Yes, We need more of this Thor. He humbled Ironman's ass XD And looking at the comic public date, is this before Disney bought Marvel? If so, no wonder this writing is good.
This was before the first iron man movie I think. So iron man was a dick and noone really liked him
@@MrHenhen5 he wasn't a dick. And movies have nothing to do with liking him in his comics, which are objectively better written than his movies ever were.
We sometimes forget that Thor is a God. Not what Disney/Marvel made him out to be.
@@Gunganfan Thor even evoked Cap's spirit in order to make sure he wasn't doing anything Cap wouldn't want him to in his name. Didn't even argue
Awh MAN I'm so glad you covered this.
It fascinates me that Tony had Robert Reynolds on his payroll, but decided to not bring him.
It's pretty simple if Sentry participated in Civil War for any side he would fuck shit up real quicky he's simply to OP
Sentry is even more unstable than the Hulk. His mental illness often makes him a huge liability. He's only brought in when there's absolutely no other choice. It's like having Superman on your team but he's a severe Schizophrenic.
seriously??? just gunna forget about the void?
@@jakedonoghue3386 TRUE
Thor could accidentally break a planet if he doesn't hold back. Robert Reynolds can accidentally shatter the universe. Bringing him to fight Thor would like bringing a nuke that explodes whenever it feels like it to a knife fight.
Love the channel, even as someone who doesn't read a lot of super hero comics at all, but for some reason like 8 years ago I nabbed the first threw volumes of this series and it is one of my favorites.
That is the Thor we needed in mcu
I love how Thor put tony in his place.
Last frame was poetic justice because you can see the hand grip from Thor on Tony’s neck……
Some Feats of Thor:
1. Showed infinite strength on at least 3 occasions (one of them was Thor as a child)
2. His lightning is so incredibly powerful that it can hurt the Chaos King (which destroyed over 98% of the multiverse)
3. Survived the Godbomb which was designed to destroy and kill all godly pantheons in all the universe.
4. He is incredibly fast that he can react faster than the "speed of thought".
5. Thor has defeated a creature called "Demogorge, the God-Eater" which consumes gods and takes their powers. By the end, the Demogorge was as powerful as Eternity and Thor still managed to defeat him.
6. one Shotted Fully Feed Galactus and black winter back to back ( Black winter was entity who used to eat Marvel and DC universe for lunch ) And Galactus was his servant
7. Erased Existence of Mangog during fight even Odin used to fear mangog (Mangog possesses the strength, stamina, durability and endurance of a "billion billion beings", and has the ability to manipulate magic for energy projection and shapeshifting. The character appears to be indestructible, and has stated it will always exist so long as there is hatred)
8.Base Thor killed Void -Most Powerful form of Sentry on his command ( Even At base sentry Holds powers of million exploding suns )
9. Knocked out Phoenix Force not once but twice (cosmic entity, one of the oldest known, with all the power of life in the universe, past, present and future. It exists simultaneously )
10. Defeated 5 shadow Gods with a single blow ( Shadow Gods are Gods of Asgardian Gods who exist beyond the Multiverse even cosmic beings like infinity, eternity couldn't step foot where they exist )
11.Killed Glory who had powers of 10000 Gods including Powers of Gods like Zeus, Odin , Hercules, Etc
(I know this is an old video)
It is good to see Thor putting the arrogant Tony Stark in his place.
If you look closely, you’ll notice Tony had bruises around his neck, meaning Thor was strangling him *through* his suit.
We not gonna talk about the framed photo of Paul in the background, huh?
thor giving tony a reality check

This is good but an important part you skipped was Thor telling Iron Man that while he was busy right then, they would "discuss" Tony's actions later.
This was one of my favorite comics.
I want to see this thor fight Superior iron man lmfao
“They say thou art a man of the future Stark... Thou have already constructed your metal coffin”

@30.06 on a Grassy Knoll nah search up Superior Iron man its when he has that werid liquid sliver suit I just wonder how that fight would go because that Tony seemed a little more manic and had a really hard core God complex I don't want to give to much away because the comics he's in are really good definitely when daredevil gets involved.
I wonder what would've happened if Tony simply said, "I fucked up, and I'll face wathever punishment you believe I deserve"
Thor knows how prideful Tony is, I haven't seen a single soul on Marvel getting shocked when Tony says "sorry, I was wrong" not "we" not "close to being right" but just "I was wrong"
Tony did say he fucked up after civil war but also tony wasn’t himself during this event extremis was affecting his mind which is why he went off the rails
Thank you for telling this story i never new thor was dead and come back to life

The real Thor 💯💯💯 not the jackass MCU portraying Thor. THIS is a God-Tier being.
Marvel comic book writers: What if [Insert Superhero Name]... stopped holding back???
Marvel comic book nerds: *hngngggh* oops i need to change my pants again
This is awful lot like that abridged JLA skit where superman calls batman a bitch.
Why is it that like every superhero has a “when *blank* doesn’t hold back” storyline?
and this is why Thor wasn't around during civil war. only a handful of people can stand toe to toe with a serious fully powered Thor.
It still pisses me off that Tony got forgiven for all of his heinous bullshit by mind wiping himself.
Tony’s mind was being affected by extremis that’s why he was doing villainous shit during civil war I guess that means every hero who’s been mind controlled doesn’t deserve forgiveness
Anymore Thor going ham videos?
After the fight Tony’s suit was destroyed and asked Thor how he was to suppose to get home, Thor just said “Walk.”
Can’t believe writers would even have Tony challenge Thor as if he were ever a match
Civil War was harsh to read for me. I’m a huge hulk fan and they did him dirty way early on. I was not a fan of Thor because I thought he was silly or an insult to actual Norse Myth… but when I saw this issue, I was floored by Thor’s righteous anger and amazed that he put the fear of Gods into Tony Stark.
I’ve been a Hulk and Thor fan ever since.
I like how his neck is brused where Thor grabbed him through the armor.
imagine while you're dead one of your "friends" clones you and has that clone kill another one of your friends,
the whole Ragnarök clone killing black goliath thing has to be one of the worst things tony ever did
When Tony Stark and Reed Richards put their heads together I guess it's hell on Earth when they create an indestructible Android

Why do I keep seeing Zero put out a video on a comic and then you put one out on the same comic almost right after
who?
@@30.06onaGrassyKnoll another comic book narrator channel, I've just been noticing that mullet man has been following the same comics zero does but a day later and find that weird
this one has the exact same title as the zero video as well. coincidence is a possible cause, but idk. i can the difficulty of making comic related content, as there are a lot of books out there that aren't interesting enough to make a whole video about, and the sheer volume of books makes it difficult to sift through and find ones that actually are worth making a video about. that being said, it's not cool to farm views by copying someone else's content. i think this has been happening a lot in the realm of comic-related content on youtube. the same like 15 stories get circlejerked by every channel until the story becomes stale. there's obviously a limited amount of good stories out there, so to some extent there's going to be overlap, but it's not honorable to just see what other channels that are like yours are doing and then copying them. i'm saying this with good faith, as i believe mullet man has good intentions and is a decent guy, i just want him to take a step back and look away from the numbers for a while. people love bite sized stories that are super off-the-wall and defy average expectations, but the well will eventually run dry.
Characters like Thor and another all powerful example of Celestial grade Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII (no matter which timeline but especially the newer stuff) are so woefully nerfed when in true raw power this would be the real end result.
Could call it a self nerf so they don't AOE their allies to death along with their enemies. XD The sucky thing about being that powerful is you have a really big hammer and many nails, some of which you don't want to hammer accidentally.

And just like Z Broly, he tanked it without a scratch.
tony a mere mortal in fancy suit of armor, thinks he can actually fight a god.
"laser blast that has infinitely more power in than a human does nothing. superhero: well punching it is then"
One of these days all the writers should get together and make a comic run with all the heroes fighting each other to the death. Some bs item will bring them back of course, but no holding back and a definitive answer of their level. This yo-yo of power levels aggravates me
