  • Shout out to Carolyn for this suggestion. We both agreed on the original with ACDC but I couldn't find one that wouldn't get blocked. However, I believe you'll love the DropKick Murpheys!
    Thank you for watching!!!

Well that was a very cool comparison. John as always has upped the anti and put his own spin on another Aussie classic. Between his killer vocal, and the bands high energy performance it is exactly what we have come to expect from Farnham and co.
I have never hear of the other band but they were great to. A very grunge/punk version. Great musicians.
What we all love about the Farnham Band (which is what its called.) Is that the core members have been the same for decades and John makes sure to give each and everyone of them lots of exposure and a chance to show of their talents in every show. Every one of them gets a solo or a duet with John throughout the concert he tells little stories and jokes about each of them, so we have gotten to know each of them and their backgrounds and how they came to be in the band as well.
In between Farnham concerts and recording albums, the band also do session works and support other local and visiting artists touring Aus. Individually and as a group they are well known as some of the greatest musicians in Australia.
    ❤❤

John and Bon Scot used to have beers together sometimes. You should check him out doing this with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in 1989 and with Tom Jones in 2005 just for yourself anyway. John performed it a lot right up to when he was about 70 - just an incredible band, too. Thankyou ❤️

Thanks for the reaction, haven't seen this version of John's cover before, it was great!
Don't be so sure John's band has changed - part of why he means so much to us is that he's renowned for being a lovely, humble, down-to-earth person. The vast majority of his band stayed with him since the first big concerts in 1987, which is testament to who John is as a person. That kind of loyalty is pretty rare, and very special. Most of the members have done other projects as well of course, but they have always, always been there for John's tours and concerts.
John did some concerts around 2019 when he was about 70, band members who were there then and also with him in 1987 (and in this clip) include: Angus Burchall (drummer), Brett Garsed (guitarist), Lindsay Field (acoustic guitar & backing vocals), Lisa Edwards (backing vocals). Venetta Fields (backing vocals) was with him until she retired (she is in her 80s now), and Chong Lim (the keyboardist here and John's musical director) took over from David Hirschfelder (who stopped being a performing musician, and went on to become an Oscar-nominated composer) in around 1994 and was still with John in 2019 as well.
We all know the name of John's band members because he always went out of his way to highlight them, as that's the type of person he is, and that's why we love our legend John Farnham!

Yep, the band hardly changed. Stuart Fraser passed away in 2019, and as noted, Venetta retired, but Brett Garsed, Angus, Chong, Lisa and Lindsay were still performing with him almost 30 years later. Joe Creighton on bass was also with him on and off for years.

Thanks for reacting to another Farnsey video 😊 Reimagined is a great way to describe it. John can sing anything and his covers are always different and unique to him and his talented band. He has performed this song many times over, and he last performed it in 2019 at the Hay Mate concert to raise money for our struggling farmers - John was 70 at the time and it is incredible. Still hits those insane notes!! Worth a look if you get the chance 👍
Looking forward to more and I hope you figure out how to get Bonesy's head back on somehow. Poor guy, just blown away by all the talent on screen I guess💀 😅
Enjoyed the other band too. Great instrumentals I agree👍
