The gimmick with the dobergun is to simulate the gas powered auto-loading of another shell, just like a common semi-automatic firearm or an auto-loading cannon on a tank or artillery piece. When the gun fires the mechanism is pushed backwards by the explosive pressure, the spent shell casing is ejected, a new shell automatically is cycled into the breach, and the spring draws the mechanism back to the forward position ready to fire the new shell.
I really like that Tallgeese. It's so different from your average Gundam, looks a lot more like what I would expect a real-life mecha to look like, with a kind of Ye Olde Knight type of feel. Nice colours and detail too.
I recommend the MG Strike Noir Gundam. Fun build, great movement, tons of weapon options, and there is a water-slide decal sheet that is sold separately if you don't like using the included sticker sheets.
Nice episode, looking forward to that Patlabor episode. Fun fact, Izubuchi designed the Ingrams from Patlabor along with most of the suits in Char's Counterattack (Jegan, Nu Gundam, etc) so it would be cool to see an Ingram and a Jegan side-by-side.
The guy who mentioned the dual-build made me think about how the HGUC kits for the D-50C Loto and the RB-79 Ball kits come in pairs. Would be interesting to see you two do your own separate takes on these two fairly simple kits.
Ryan and Syd! Any chance you'll ever talk about the original Gunpla line of kits? They are glue together, which is something many modern Gunpla Builders just aren't used to anymore. i think they would be an interesting segment idea. The 1/60 scale RX-78-2 is getting re-released and has a transforming core fighter that fits inside of it! You should consider showing off a piece of Gunpla history.
I bought the MG Tallgeese from you guys earlier this month and I would of bought more but you guys have a lot of models out of stock. Can't wait for March Restock.
don´t forget about the new Strike 2.0?? that is coming out in April... just can´t wait to pre-order that thing... the nostalgia of building the Strike once again... my first MG...
what is your favorite series? do you like a kit for aesthetics its role in the show, who it piloted by? are you looking for a complicated build easy build? a shelf brick or something to pose?
the peg that moves the break turns upside VERY easily and will cause it not move when the barrel is pushed in i had to take it apart 3 times to get it to work correctly, and yeah its just a push back the break goes down, let it shoot foward the break comes back up however if you turn the gun on its side break wont move half the time and if its upside wont move at all. i rather enjoy the moving gimic but like you said would have prefered a release mechanism.
Hey Syd and Ryan, I was wondering if you guys could make a video tour of the warehouse and show us the cool new stuff around because I know from the past episodes you guys showed it, but that was like 2 something years ago. if you made a video tour, I'm pretty sure some kits will catch viewers eyes and they might go purchase them. I think it's a great idea for HLJ ;) regards from Montreal
Think of Tallgeese's gun as a canon similar to that on a modern tank. When it's fired, the barrel recoils but doesn't necessarily lock itself like you'd see in a pistol slide when it's out of ammo. So I don't think there's anything wrong per se with the gun, but I cld b wrong.
Hi like the way your Iron Kong is looking Ryan good job.Now I want Zoids XD.Syd love the Tallgeese I actually might just get for fun and crazy things with it.Thank you for all your hard work and effort for showing us your shaving cream Syd XD.Good luck on finishing you Iron Kong Ryan :D
Awesome episode Guys!! The tallgeese looks great and I can't wait to finish mine. Can't wait for the Sinanju Stein! Syd, I was wondering if the Sinanju Stein will not use polycaps like the Ver. Ka. Sinanju?
Which runners are you talking about? If you mean the ones that have tons of weapons and thrusters and such, they can come in 1/144 (HG) or 1/100 (MG) scale, depending on what you buy.
Hey Syd, I'm so excited for the Ver Ka. Sinanju Stein that's coming out this month. I was just curious if you have heard anything about an exact date? Thanks!
I wouldnt be so sure about the older=lower quality, the older a kit is yes it wont have all the gimicks that a newer kit would have, but I still find very good kits out of the first MGs
Hey Sydney and Ryan how about taking a look into the Kotobukiya muv-luv kits they are pretty solid kits with a lot of parts for the fine scale around 350-400 and the 1/144 have about 200 pieces not to mention the design is different from gundam so it's a little change between bandai kits
Will you guys still have the Ver.Ka Sinanju for sale? I actually have the Gundam Ace that also came with the Bazooka that I picked up during a visit to a convention XD
A question. I regularly see that Gunpla gets custom editions for companies and events. Would it be possible for a Hobbylink colored Gunpla. For Example a Hobbylink 1/144 RX-79-2 or a RX-0?
Hi Syd and Ryan, i'm a long time modeller, first time gundam builder. Just wondering if you have a preference in using enamel or acrylic paints (liquid or spray) on the gundam plastics. Or does it really matter, once you have put your finishing top coat on? What do you guys prefer? Can't wait to see the final Kong Ryan and Syd are you planning on putting together the new Sinanju Stin Ver Ka on the show? Cheers
That's great that you are going to show other non-Gundam bandai kits. If possible could you show us the 'Zone of the Enders' kits and 'The Big O' (Not the Yellow one from Zeta Gnudam). /product/KBYKP-166 /product/KBYKP-229 /product/BAN75684 Thanks.
Aside from "pick your favourite mobile suit", you're probably better off picking a cheaper one over a more expensive one, simply because more expensive = more complicated and it might be best to get an easier one, they get pretty detailed compared to an NG 1/100 or HG (building MG Unicorn now and the torso alone has as many pieces as a full HG lol). Though the older you go the lower the quality/sophistication too, so maybe a cheaper newer MG is the best entry to the line.
hi there been meaning to ask this when is bandai going to be making a 1/400 Ptolemaios 2 kit from gundam 00 it would help if you no when there making it?
The 1/144 Tallgeese I have isn't enough. I want an MG Tallgeese, but it's expensive XD And speaking of Star Wars, I'm going to be evil and ask Ryan to watch the Star Wars Holiday Special and I would like to hear his thoughts on it after watching it.
I actually curious to know something? Its how you pronounce decals as "deckle's". Is that a canadian pronunciation or the correct pronunciation? I'm american and we pronounce it as "dee-cals". Deckle to us usually means a rough edge of something. Once again, just curious.
Hello guys, have you ever considered doing a review for a Perfect grade kit? I know it will take quite a while to complete it but I want to know if I would really get every bang for every buck I'd spend for one. ^^,)
hey syd and ryan.great show guys.you mentioned before that you don't get paid on the time you spend building kits.but do you get the kits you build for free?i have been viewing many of your past episodes and you guys just go to the warehouse and pick whatever you want. if it is free then where do i submit my application form?hehe. :) coz you guys have the dream job of any gundam fan. :p
dosent really matter, as long as you get good acrylics and not cheap dollar store brand, i prefer working with enamels, its what i started with and just got used to, but acrylics are much easier to work with, easier clean up and prep, and you dont need a bunch of extra stuff for thinning and ventilation. as far as air or brush, depends really on what your better at, Ive seen people do magic with both, but as long as the skill is there it dosent really make a difference after topcoat
I haven't got the Nu yet, but you can see the Stein's hands in the article scans in this post, hope you can figure it out from there gundamguy.blogspot.com.au/2012/11/mg-1100-sinanju-stein-new-images.html
with all the mentions of Evangelion cream (yes, I've seen the end of eva movie), a Full Metal Jacket reference and KY Jelly, Gunpla TV is getting a bit too saucy. I dread to see the day when a episode comes with the adult content warning. I like you guys, but that much
I think abrahms will probably do better with star wars than what he did with star trek due to the fact that star wars is much more action oriented. I wasn't really into his version of star trek. He basically ruined it by throwing way too much fx to the storyline to pretty much appeal to more people. Wasn't my cup of tea.

That was Tallgesse 2 which was bandai exclusive kit, Tallgesse 1 in which you see in the video is the normal MG release.
I really like that Tallgeese. It's so different from your average Gundam, looks a lot more like what I would expect a real-life mecha to look like, with a kind of Ye Olde Knight type of feel. Nice colours and detail too.

I've been waiting for a Master Grade Tallgeese since 2000! So it's about bloody time! Now I just have to wait for mine to get here.
Nice episode, looking forward to that Patlabor episode.

yes they are but is is a bandai online shop exclusive. there are a few places to get it state side but it is about $30 more.
They have already announced the Tallgeese II. It wil be an online exclusive.

I wouldn't even want to touch a Shinji can of shaving cream.... the Iron Kong is looking good Ryan.
the Iron kong looks big from the vid I shoud be geting that kit soon that will make my 8th zoid kit
any chance hlj would do another channel for military kits unboxing, build guide etc...?? that would be cool :)
I was wondering about the tomy tech zoids I saw on the site. Could you have a little segment about them sometime?
so hype for that MG Jesta!
nice gigidi! family guy reference cool!! i always wonder how quagmire sound in japanese

Any idea when the HGUC full armor unicorn is going to be released? I've already seen prototypes of the full armor unicorn in unicorn mode.
Will you guys still have the Ver.Ka Sinanju for sale? I actually have the Gundam Ace that also came with the Bazooka that I picked up during a visit to a convention XD
on a side note im sad i cant order bandai premium items threw HLJ ill have to use a proxy service to get my tallgeese 2 and the crossbone x-2

you talk about the polystyrene frame, I don't understand, I thought they were always polystyrene. What were they before?
Cant wait for mine.
Love the videos guys. Silly question but how does one get employment at HLJ? I would be a kid in a candy store working there.
Hi Syd I have question for gunpla models what type of top coat do you use and which would you recommend? Thank you

Hey guys I want to buy a mg kit what do you reccomend (I know syd will recomend the sinanju)
I want a MG Tallgeese 3 so badly it's ridiculous.
If it's not on their website then they don't know. Since OO isn't hot right now, don't hold your breath.

Don't worry about Disney owning Star Wars. Don't forget they also own Marvel and the Marvel movies have been great.
I forgot to put a few words :-[
Hahahaha very funny shaving cream hahah
with all the mentions of Evangelion cream (yes, I've seen the end of eva movie), a Full Metal Jacket reference and KY Jelly, Gunpla TV is getting a bit too saucy. I dread to see the day when a episode comes with the adult content warning. I like you guys, but that much
Sorry forgot the key to that sentence : STOP JJ Abrams!!
If it's gonna be lighter...
I guess..
It's gonna be 3 times faster!
yeeaahhhhh..
..
..
no? not working? *slowly backs away*
Feb 23
"ryan:want me to shave you?" sooo awkward
RG Destiny - Order stop :(
Feb 28
Looks like recoil
If Star Trek fans had been able to JJ then they would have and anybody who likes Star Wars should try to stop him now.
I think abrahms will probably do better with star wars than what he did with star trek due to the fact that star wars is much more action oriented. I wasn't really into his version of star trek. I cant believe Im first! I havent watched the whole video yet but I'm first! :)
