    1/100 MG Zaku II version 2.0 is the kit I consider to be the prime example of a perfect master grade. It's fun to build, loaded with tons of mechanical detail, extremely sturdy when built, and very posable. I have built 5, and will probably build another.

    Zaku II 2.0 MS-06J is really where I feel it started to change. Great inner frame, the 2.0 hands, wicked balance and posability. Its great! I'm looking forward to building some other Zakus as well.

    the MG strike freedom or even the MG strike and MG freedom have been amazing kits to build and how well they made them for the time its just amazing

    i would say the ver. ka kits were and still is the MG line that pushes what makes a MG kit great. Everything before either had screws, polycaps and sometimes only half a frame. wing zero ver. ka was the kit that impressed me the most when i first started building MG kits.

    My favourite MG is Unicorn, the sheer detail and complexity of the kit was mindblowing when i put it together for the first time that many years ago. I just snapped the new verka Nu Gundam, that is quite impressive too.

    MG MKII 2.0, is probably my benchmark for Master Grades, whether in Titans or AEUG. Great series on the different grades. Keep up the good work, and I suggest that Ryan build one of the aforementioned kits!

    A friend of mine tied down a zaku ii gunpla kit once and shot it with a handgun right at the left of the cockpit, it literally gave it a good hole into it... then he took a torch and ran it around the opening to melt the plastic a bit to make it look like a beam gun shit went thru the suit, it looks amazing but I would never replicate that myself...

    As usual great work guys. I would say probably one of the step ups from the old to the newer MGs would be the addition of the feature to add lights on certain MGs. In connection to this do you know when they started adding this feature? Probably during the 00 MGs? Anyhow more power and God speed.

    I actually really enjoyed the engineering on the new Tallgeese EW. It may not be a huge step, but just the way it all came together and the articulation is very interesting.

    Super excited about the RG GP01, too. It's an old favorite of mine, and the lineart looks superb. Perfect fit for the RG style. Hopefully we'll see its rival, the GP02, get an RG to match sooner or later.

    to put some believable scratches on gundam kits a regular graphite pencil works pretty good. it goes on shiny so it looks like metal and you can smudge it witd you finger or a cloth. and the best part if you get it somewhere you didnt want to, turn the pencil over and use the eraser!

  • @123asd1

    To answer you question about change in a mg alex is a huge example it had rubber parts and great gimmicks with the old inner frame style. and Im holding out for 2.0. but of the few mg I have built mk II 2.0 was great but my love from grunt suits makes me enjoy the ball and truely enjoy it.

    Iv got to say for me the pinicle of mastergrade technology has got to be the redframe, and blue frame, there just so amazingly designed and excecuted in most every way :)

  • @rolandsetsuya7851

    My favorite MG is the Force Impulse because it was my first MG line and my #1 Gundam of it. The Inner Frames is outstanding and the design is very true to the anime although i see the beam riffle cant stay in the peg of the right hand but still its a great kit for those who want to start with the MG series i recommand.
    Maybe next time i might thinking of building the Sinanju Stien as a first ver ka series.

  • @JoesGunpla
    @JoesGunpla 11 лет назад

    MG Dom marked the beginning of true inner frames and movable hands with pegs. RX-78-2 Gundam Ver 1.5 was, I believe, the first kits to have moving parts all molded together with it's famous and often re-used leg frame. MG God Gundam introduced the mobile fighter frame. OYW Gundam was the start of the "2.0" Hands, but the Mk II 2.0 was the first 2.0 with an AMAZING FRAME! From there, Sinanju, Wing Gundam, AGE-1 Normal, Duel Gundam, and Nu Ver Ka all are bench marks for a new style of building.

    as for gundams i would build again. i currently own the master grade strike, strike version remaster, and star build strike. all are very similar. the strike itself, the way it is designed, is a very solid kit. im a huge fan of the way it's built. both the old version (even though there are some articulation issues in the hips due to stubborn skirts) is very solid and with the aile striker pack on is very capable of standing on it's own (although it does look much better in it's famous arial pose). i have a huge soft spot for kits that can stand on their own. i love the seed/seed destiny designs, but sometimes all those massive wings can really get in the way. it's refreshing to have a kit that doesnt have any big huge backpack or wings that can easily stand on it's own in nearly any pose.

  • @gundamx20a
    @gundamx20a 11 лет назад

    Regarding Syd asking what kit was one of the biggest turn points in MG's, I would say the RX-78-2 Gundam Ver OYW is a big turning point in MG's. Reason being, it was the first to introduce the 2.0 hands even though it wasn't the true Version 2.0 since the rest of the frame was a slightly modified Version 1.5 and because the 2.0 was eventually made to be more anime accurate.

  • @MythicalPhoebe

    master grades certainly areamazing in the way that they can have all the gimicks and cool transformations and stuff, however it almost never goes without some kind of issues surrounding the fact. for instance, articulation issues or the kit not being very solidly built. the unicorn gundam is a huge example of this. in it's master grade form it still does pose many issues and parts like the knees when transforming it are not very solid at all. not to mention the ankles are quite weak and i'm very amazed that my master grade unicorn hasn't just lost ballance and toppled backwards yet. however, one time i bumped my shelf and it did go into a forward slouch.

    I got an MG Exia Ignition mode and finished it lately, and damn, I would buy the standard edition, the assemble it as the repair mode 1! An innovation I'm looking forward is that Bandai would release conversion kits for the MG Exia Line. It would be nice to assemble the Avalanche, the Repair Mode II & III! :D

  • @freqimann
    @freqimann 10 лет назад

    im biased. my favorite gundam is the Rx-178 Mk. II. my first ever *true* master grade was the titans ver. 2.0. i have built the no grade 1/100 wing kits before, but the detail and flexibility of this kit in particular is astounding.
    i'm seriously thinking of getting the aeug version. maybe getting HD versions as well. i'm trying to hold off until next month when i have more money, but the desire to build is getting the better of me.
    i have ordered the MG F91 and Unicorn OVA. they should be here any day. i have heard good things about both. looking forward to it.

    • @Bane8877
      @Bane8877 10 лет назад

      The HD versions or the limited editions based on the New translation trilogy are nice but they have a gloss finish on all the parts, well the mk2 titans one did for me, so sanding off nubs made it trickykeeping the finish.

  • @KENARDO
    @KENARDO 11 лет назад

    MG Zeta Ver. 2.0 versus MG Zeta Ver. 1 shows a great progression in technology, as do the different versions of Gundam MkII. Of the ones I've built, my current favorite MG is either Gundam Mk II or Unicorn OVA Ver. (Though I haven't gotten around to this Zaku R1A Ver2 or Nu Ver Ka yet)

  • @poxorz
    @poxorz 11 лет назад

    I would like to mention the G Gundam series of master grades. How their inner frames are designed to let them do unthinkable poses that would be impossible for other MGs to pull off. And, if I'm not mistaken, you can actually pose the God Gundam performing a "high kick" without an action base?

  • @RobotJeeg

    @ChexGuy 11 лет назад

    One MG I fully enjoyed (and many others have as well) is the Turn A MG. It's simple to build, but stands solidly and has THE most unique design there is. I also enjoyed the Unicorn for all of its sliding panels and the like, though I'm sure there are many other MGs that showcase larger strides in engineering.
    Ryan, build the Turn A if you're ever going to build an MG. :P
    I'm interested in what you guys think of the new stuff coming out, like Valvrave.

  • @vicprado00
    @vicprado00 11 лет назад

    the best MG kits for me is the ref and blue frame astray. the only thing i would change are the hands i think. i just wish they would release the red frame with the original form with the shield and the beam rifle...

  • @Zonnza

    I have to say, the MG destiny and MG strike freedom were very amazing builds with great tech upgrades from the the MG wing zero custom i build. but even the MG WZC was amazing compared to the MGs before it.

  • @Eucep
    @Eucep 11 лет назад

    Only one kind of hand missed out on, the polycap swappable hands for the G-Gundam Mastergrades. I personally am not to fond of the transforming mastergrades. While great that they can, my experience is that it usually ends up making either the kit frail or overly complex. Despite that, the FAZZ really taught me about how detailed MG's can be. My favorite MG remains the Musha Mark 2.

  • @Keener_ThanYou
    @Keener_ThanYou 11 лет назад

    You were talking about them making updated kits like 2.0 I would love to see a mg nt-1 2.0 its one of my favorite kits I love how it looks and they could do so much with it since its so old what do you think them re-making a kit like that

  • @Mustangman03gt
    @Mustangman03gt 11 лет назад

    Zeta 1.0. First transforming MG, first LED. I do miss the HY2M head kits though. My favorite MGs are Sinanju and the Zaku 2.0 and Gelgoog 2.0 - I've built all of the MG Strike kits, though, and am looking forward to the HD. I've built at least 1 of every mold/variation of MGs, aside from some of the newer ones and a few older/bigger ones (The O, Perfect Zeong, etc). Eagerly awaiting the arrival of my Nu ver Ka and Sinanju Stein :)

    for me one of the best master grade is the blue and red frame, by far one of the best kits, next would be exia, havent meet a gundam kit builder who does not own a red or blue frame or both also i love the one year war version of the rx 78-2 gundam

  • @chinzynator
    @chinzynator 11 лет назад

    Favourite MG kit? MG infinite justice. plainly stupid sexy
    Favourite line of Gunpla? HG, cos i built hundreds of them and i love how fun sized they are! as the MGs improve, the HGs are slowly creeping up in terms of standards.
    RGs are next in the line, as space constraint is my main problem, 1/144 stuff are what i look out for.
    MGs are terrific but since i've only built 2 i can't say much. who's excited by the MG Strike remastered? i sure am!
    i have yet to touch a PG ^^

    My favourite MG is the Guntank (despite those awful tracks) as there are no hands or other kits like it. I'm not a big fan of those 2.0 hands because when I built the MG MK2 2.0 (Great kit) the plastic which held the index finger in was too thin and broke and now it's super glued in one position! :'(
    Seriously Ryan, you've not built an MG. Here's an idea, write the numbers between 1 and 165 on different pieces of paper and have a lottery. The winning number is the kit you build.
