    I am from Manipur and I can vouch for the sporting culture . Every locality has a club which promotes and conducts sporting events. Every kid is encouraged to play.. the more they play the more champions you unearth

    I originally belong to UP, but had been living in Manipur for around 20+ years...and one thing you can never take out of the Manipuris(meitei, kuki & different Naga tribes) is the love for Sports...Here you won't see kids with PS or watching cartoons on TV whole day...from a 4 year old kid to an old man, everyone love Football...each Leikai(a small village or community) have a sports club and they organise competitions all round the year...mostly during Holi, which is celebrated for a week here, you will see kids, youths, young girls,ladies, aged men, all participating in different types of sporting events ranging from sprint races, marathons, football tournament and many fun events...

    They're the silent nationalists. Serving the nation without making any unnecessary noise like most of us living in North. Manipur and other NE states are so efficient in sports. We've one moe medal coming in boxing from Assam.

A big country like India will be equipped with talented youth to excel in future. I don't think a divided India will prosper because of bullies like China, which is already threatening small ASEAN countries.

      NE are true heroes. They are completely different from mainland india, but in a good way. Indians have a lot to learn from them. I love the NE people. They may be poor but they keep their surroundings clean, are welcoming to guests and have much supervisor culture than these mainland Hindutvada nationalist.

      @@doctorstrange7478 I think Mizoram is better recently than Assam and Manipur. Meghalaya also is quite underrated in football. It's the current Subroto Cup winner in U17 (because of covid no tournament since 2019). Also won the Sub Junior National Cup in 2019, Reliance Youth Cup in 2 categories in 2018

    Manipuri women are glorious, they are very honest and hard working. They are patriots, I have experience of working with lots of awesome Manipuri Nurses.
    While Kerala nurses are amazing too ,but now a days most ( not all)of them work to gain experience for overseas placement . But Manipuri works hard without such dreams.
    I know overall, Indian doesn’t respect the most sacred profession of nursing ( a country would be considered civilized when it starts respecting serving class in stead of ruling class).

    Not to forget the current India women football team has 10 players from Manipur with Their captain L.Ashalita Devi from Manipur too.. The most capped Indian women footballer being Bembem Devi a Manipuri. Bala Devi, The ex Indian captain currently plays for Scottish Club overseas becoming the first Indian women to do so. Etc

      Yubi lakpi is a seven-a-side traditional football game played in Manipur, India, using a coconut, which has some notable similarities to rugby. Despite these similarities, the name is not related to the game of rugby or Rugby School in England, it is in fact of Meitei origin, and means literally "coconut snatching".

    MANIPUR especially the meitei community always fought war with the neighbouring kingdom be it Tripura, Burma etc . So they need to keep their body fit even during peace time . So POLO originated from Manipur . There are many indigenous games in Manipur . It's in their blood . They are worrior caste . So they are fit

    It amazes me how students at school only get one period a week for sports and the teacher only takes students to sports ground at some occasions only otherwise they just stay in the classroom and tell us to study other subject. Even when you go out students which are athletic only gets attention by the teachers and not the students how want to be. Good at sports.

    Manipur with a population of 28 lakhs still produces 20 Arjuna awardee and 3 khel Ratna award and was top of medal 🏅 tally of National games from 1998-2011 . Manipur has more than 100s of indigenous games . Local clubs organise 5 day sporting event during holi .

      Cricket is not the major reason. Here in Haryana cricket is very famous still 26% of indian Olympic athletes in 2020 Olympics are from Haryana

    I m a manipuri athletes..a multi-sports athlete i competes in two different sports at national level..Manipur may be 90% of people's are all athletes we can say that in every family's mostly we have one or more than national & international players in each familys..

    As someone from Manipur, I'm kinda happy and sad at the same time about this. We get recognized only when it is beneficial for Indians as a whole and totally get ignored and even discriminated against, as you can easily see in the past year and a half because of covid. I know these types of people are a small minority, but the loud minorities tend to be the most annoying and cause the most damage overall.

    Manipur is the birth place of Mordern Polo Game, The Britishers learned it from Manipur that's how it spread all over the world, Cachar Club in Silchar Town,Assam is the oldest Polo club in the world...
    And Once Bruce Lee wanted to come and learn Thang ta the traditional Manipuri martial arts but it never happened but he was a huge admirer of it..

    I have been doing kumite since grade 3 and in 2011 I got the chance to play for my state. Though I lost in the semifinal round my opponent was from Manipur infact he and his brother won 1st and 2nd respectively in our weight category.     While i have awaited someone outside, the state to cover this topic. All Medias are busy spreading only insurgencies problems and poor images of manipur. As if we, manipuri are trouble makers. Atleast, Manipur produce many athletes despite such little populations we have.
    I wish if you could go little deeper of the sport culture of Manipur, like the origin of polo and naming some of those athletes who inspired the nations and their records.
    I think we have around 18 to 20 arjuna awardee in my state, despite the population.
