    I remember buying this on vhs in late eighties as an 18 or 19 year old only a few months after hearing Bruce for the first time ( if a tree falls). For the next 15 years he was all i listened to until i started to broaden my musical horizons. Still go back to him from time to time to reminisce. Living in Ireland i felt like i was the only irish person who had ever heard of him until he visited in the early 90's and i realised there were a few other lucky fellow countrymen.

    I do not know how I ever missed this man! I am a big music lover. Really I am. Somehow I did not meet up with him until somewhat recently!!! Bruce Cockburn is just amazing!!!! I have been spending a lot of time catching up. I guess that I might contribute not knowing of him was because I am originally a New Yorker.. until I moved up to the Canadian border oh my...The Tragically Hip! But Bruce Cockburn it has also amazed me. Better late than never! I really have wanted a copy of this show. Thank you for posting♥️

      Mine too. Was at a concert back in 1990 here in southwestern Ontario, people were yelling out songs for Bruce to play. I'd had a few beers and yelled out Creation Dream and he played it! I'll never forget it. It was just Bruce and Jon Goldsmith, but it was so full sounding. Absolutely stellar!

      I saw Bruce perform solo acoustic at Town Hall in NYC, some time in the late 1980s. He opened the show with Creation Dream, and it was amazing. I've looked for recordings of that show, or any other solo version of Creation Dream, but I have yet to find one. That song is one of my favorite Bruce Cockburn compositions.

    Fantastic! I'm so impressed by the fact that he was actively playing songs like The Trouble with Normal and Civilization and its Discontents a good year or so before they made their official appearance on the 1983 album.
    If Cockburn fans truly want a worthwhile project, find productions like this one, clean them up and release them for sale to us. To have a quality collection of concerts that span his career and take 'snapshots' of different periods to highlight his evolution. Record companies dither and fuss over compilations like the most recent 1970 to 2020 greatest hits for resale, but give us gem concerts like this and its an even better 'best of' compilation of a masterful musician.

    • @fallriverroady-colorado
      @fallriverroady-colorado  3 года назад +1

      Agreed except the selling part. I am trying to give them to you here for free. :-) Please don't buy or sell bootlegs.
      I will say that all of these uploads would have happened a long time ago if it weren't for copyright issues. Recently True North seems to have changed policy and allows these as long as they can run ads on them, which is fine with me and I would suspect that Bruce gets some of the royalties collected. I find the ads on youtube intolerable, youtube premium fixes that - and the catalog without ads is worth the money to me.....

    This includes my absolute favorite version of Rumours of Glory... lovely to hear the uncut version towards the end where he really gets into the song. I can definitely understand why those vocals got cut and never ended up on any records... but so interesting to hear the song all the way through. How amazing it must have been to be there.

    Is it just me or is the guitar way too far down in the mix? There are times, especially during his solos, when it is almost impossible to hear his guitar playing. I love this video as a concept, but the mix could have been balanced.
