- This was broadcast on Italian TV on a program named "American Pie". It is the best version of this televised concert that I have found.
A fantastic glimpse into 1979 Bruce Cockburn.
Recorded at "Ontario Place" August 14th 1979.

This is an absolutely stunning performance. It is a singer songwriter guitarist at the top of their powers.
This is from one year before I discovered Bruce (U.S. fan).
Bruce is so amazing. He knows that words are worlds, his musicianship is unparalleled.
❤
Guitar virtuoso par excellénce! This is what Michael Hedges was talking about when he said BC was one of the best guitar players alive! And “All the Diamonds” remains one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
Saw with no back up in 77. Hamilton Place. Amazing
Whaaat? Only RUclips can throw up a rare screening on Italian tv of Canadian singer songwriter Bruce Cockburn ! Thanks for uploading.
This concert is a dream set list from this phase in Bruce's career. I always thought that the guitar on Bright Sky was multi-tracked in the studio and perhaps it was, but it is stunning to see and hear how full and rich the guitar sounds when Bruce played it solo, live...like multiple guitars in unison. A brilliant artist and musician. Thank you for posting this show!
Some of my absolute favorite Cockburn songs in one perfect concert! ❤
Bright Sky man! Love him forever. I get to hear Bruce (again - 8th concert over the years, beginning in 1980) in Lincoln, NE this Valentines Day together with my sweetie. I'll be calling out Bright Sky as a request for sure.
I was at this concert!!!
I saw Bruce several times at Ontario Place.
This was the show I was looking for! It showcases his unique talent that just is transcendent! The most brilliant guitarist and lyricist around!
Wow! I've seen Bruce several times, but his guitar playing here is amazing
Thanx for the post; Cockburn fan since 1st hearing, 70s. Played his songs in bands ever since!
Dialogue With The Devil is simply sublime...
Amazing show at the old Forum at Ontario Place - one of the first Bruce shows I attended. “Lions” is still pretty new here - there’s no applause when he starts it! Love his smile though as he encourages the audience to sing through the chorus!
I remember he introduced 'Lions' as a new song. This was two or three months before 'Dancing in the Dragon's Jaws' was released.
That version of Joy Will Find a Way is just exquisite.
This is epic! Not many concerts of Bruce from this era.
Spectacular!
Thank you. Wonderful
Fricken awesome - love us some Bruce!
This is dope'! I joined Bruce’s 1977 concert in Japan, and have been searching early days video. Almost none. His acoustic days music is such a beauty. Many thanks. Ps I posted sound file of 1977 concert on RUclips.
Thank you
Wonderful concert. Some of my most favorite Bruce songs. Thanks for posting!
Fantastic - thanks so much for sharing
Great footage! I first saw Bruce live in 1979 at the University of Calgary - small show and I was hooked!
This is fantastic and from right around the time I discovered Bruce. Thanks so much!
Thank you 🎉
This is absolutely wonderful! Thank you so much! 🙌🏼🥰
Sublime! Genius! Hey,…ok I’m biased,.. but you know I was in school in England when this was being beautified into the air & I didn’t have any idea of who he was back then!
Robert Boucher on bass!
Wow, this is amazing, please upload more Cockburn if you can, thanks 😊🙏👍🌞🍀
More is coming. :-)
Razor sharp . At his best !
if only i wasn't tied to the sounds of living a bit ago by my wired headphones ... but even then it feels so weird ...

Harm never.
The studio version of Water Into Wine is impossible enough, but this one defies logic and description. I've been trying for months to figure out how he plays some bits, but he's so fast, even watching him do it is no use. Anybody up to discuss it?
The lead lines against the thumb bass are insane even for him. Drop D, I guess, tuning-wise.
Cooker no prisoners.
Canada.
I searched but could not find anything about the band members in this show. No credits from the production which is unusual. What is edited out? From the sound and arrangements could it be the some or all of the same band featured on Circles In The Stream from 1977? Any response is appreciated.
If I remember correctly it was Robert Boucher on bass, Bob DiSalle on drums, and maybe Pat Godfrey on marimba.
@@timchesterton yep.
Socialist thought.
at the top of his game here before his descent into tedious soapboxy "political rock" ugh
