hi I am from southeast Georgia. I am disabled I went to Cumberland in high school. thru yalls video I was able to go again. with my heart condition and knee issues I can't walk enough to spend a whole day there. one place I would say yall should visit is the Okefenokee swamp. my grandfather was born in the swamp. when it was taken over by the government the families were removed. it is an amazingly beautiful place.
I was fortunate enough to work here on Cumberland island at the Greyfield Inn! It’s the only place on Cumberland (other than camping) that you can stay. It’s a lovely home built in 1901 converted to an Inn. It’s a bit expensive but absolutely worth the stay. No TV’s - no Wi-Fi, just you and the other guests and staff. 3 course meal for dinner and a serve yourself bar. If you’re looking for a fancier stay next time I totally recommend it! You ride the ferry over from Amelia Island it’s about a 45 minute ride. The inn is owned by descendants of the Ferguson family Mitty and Mary and they are absolutely wonderful people!
This is an Amazing place. Love it and the free roaming horses are fantastic. Seriously, talk about a de-stress gorgeous environment, this it IT. So excited you guys are loading up more episodes every week:) Funny how you say people miss Kramer, he's learly a key part of your show, and he is a blast to watch. I'm always impressed with your music, perfectly for the scenes. Thanks for this wonderful share. Best wishes, James and Kim
I used to live in St.Mary’s! My parents had a boat and would take it out to Cumberland island all the time! I’m hoping to move back to that area soon! Love the video!
So cool that you went to Cumberland Island! I’ve wanted to go there for as long as I remember! It’s on my bucket list too Sara! The horses are beautiful! I would’ve screamed when I saw that snake! Remember John Kennedy Jr got married there. He had high society riding in the back of pickup trucks. lol
😂I didn't know that! Funny thought of the high society dressed to the nines and riding in the back of pickups! lol You'd absolute love the island, Sandra. Definitely try and plan a trip there since it's not too far from you! :)
Cumberland is absolutely magical. My first camping trip EVER was there in 1996, and it was awesome! There are alligators further north on the island. Did you see any armadillos?? If you camp on the island, staying at Sea Camp is easier, but the backcountry campgrounds are great too! Next time definitely go up to the Stafford area and Plum Orchard - there's a swing the size of a queen bed on the side of the house you can chill on! Stay at the Riverview Hotel in St. Mary's right across from the ferry the night before you go, grab a drink from the bar on the 1st floor, and sit in the rocking chairs on the 2nd floor porch to watch the sunset. So glad you all went to Cumberland and discovered what a truly amazing place it is, and thank you for taking us with you!
Oh man! I can't believe we missed the swing!! We didn't see any armadillos on the island either. Definitely taking note of all of these suggestions for when we finally make it back there. Such a beautiful spot! We love that the number of people on the island is limited too so that it keeps the crowds down. :)
Did you do Okefenokee yet? It's another very interesting spot in Georgia and the St. Mary's river (you crossed it to get to Cumberland) is a long, happy party
It is! We're definitely still learning the camera so our settings a bit off in some of the shots but so far we're loving filming and photographing with Sony!
Oh wow I was there at the end of March. My bucket list Too! Lots of people get off at the next dock for camping. Park Ranger said he wouldn't camp. There are Alligators all over the Low Country. If you get this before Charleston please go across the bridge to Shem Creek in Mt.Pleasant. Really cool vibe. Lots of Resteraunts. I live in the area. Oh and I was in Chattanooga last week I love that town!
We know Mt Pleasant! We actually find ourselves passing through there whenever we're in Charleston (which is one of our favorite cities)! Such a beautiful area of the country. We're always open to specific Mt Pleasant and Charleston recommendations if you have them. :)
@@chrisandsara If you cross the Ravenal Bridge from Charleston. Stay to the right. You'll exit off Coleman Blvd. This is the Older part of Mt.P. Keep right for about 2 miles if you cross over the Creek and see restaurants and Kayakers that's it. There is parking on both sides. You can eat lunch and watch dolphins and manatees, if you are lucky. Also if you keep on Coleman past the Creek (Shem Creek). You'll run right into the beach at Sullivan's Island. About 10 minutes. Hi Nora! That's a really good question. I did notice that all of the boats and bathroom buildings had ramps that would work for wheelchairs. The main thing to note is that all the roads on the island are sand which can be tricky to navigate with a cane and/or wheelchair. However, I just read that the island does have special off road wheelchairs that can be made available upon special request! They also offer guided van tours of the island if that's more your speed. While it's definitely possible to walk with a cane on sand, note that the island is pretty spread out (which is why we rented bikes) so a motorized wheelchair could be the best option.
