      @@chrisandsara YES! We have a video series on the town of Dahlonega. (Must watch) Gold mining tours and many falls lots of beautiful hiking near by. Amicalola Falls is beautiful! We also have a video on our town Ellijay, many Apple orchards and tubing down the River, hiking with a great downtown lots of delicious restaurants and antique stores, Carter lake too is beautiful in Ellijay again beautiful hike. Town of Blue ridge is a beautiful town offers a train trip through the Mts.
      Helen is ok, but very touristy. (Kinda like a Disney set up not authentic) There is so much to see & do especially since you like the outdoors! Ellijay is only 2 hours max from Chattanooga. Let me know if you have anymore questions. ~Cara 😊

    hi I am from southeast Georgia. I am disabled I went to Cumberland in high school. thru yalls video I was able to go again. with my heart condition and knee issues I can't walk enough to spend a whole day there. one place I would say yall should visit is the Okefenokee swamp. my grandfather was born in the swamp. when it was taken over by the government the families were removed. it is an amazingly beautiful place.

    I was fortunate enough to work here on Cumberland island at the Greyfield Inn! It’s the only place on Cumberland (other than camping) that you can stay. It’s a lovely home built in 1901 converted to an Inn. It’s a bit expensive but absolutely worth the stay. No TV’s - no Wi-Fi, just you and the other guests and staff. 3 course meal for dinner and a serve yourself bar. If you’re looking for a fancier stay next time I totally recommend it! You ride the ferry over from Amelia Island it’s about a 45 minute ride. The inn is owned by descendants of the Ferguson family Mitty and Mary and they are absolutely wonderful people!

    Cumberland is absolutely magical. My first camping trip EVER was there in 1996, and it was awesome! There are alligators further north on the island. Did you see any armadillos?? If you camp on the island, staying at Sea Camp is easier, but the backcountry campgrounds are great too! Next time definitely go up to the Stafford area and Plum Orchard - there's a swing the size of a queen bed on the side of the house you can chill on! Stay at the Riverview Hotel in St. Mary's right across from the ferry the night before you go, grab a drink from the bar on the 1st floor, and sit in the rocking chairs on the 2nd floor porch to watch the sunset. So glad you all went to Cumberland and discovered what a truly amazing place it is, and thank you for taking us with you!

    • @chrisandsara
      @chrisandsara  3 года назад +1

      Oh man! I can't believe we missed the swing!! We didn't see any armadillos on the island either. Definitely taking note of all of these suggestions for when we finally make it back there. You can eat lunch and watch dolphins and manatees, if you are lucky. Also if you keep on Coleman past the Creek (Shem Creek). You'll run right into the beach at Sullivan's Island. About 10 minutes. This might be obsolete information, but, Chris, you said you didn't fly the drone because Cumberland Island is a National Park, did I understand that correctly? Well, good news; there's been a law suit by someone against the National Park Service challenging their ban and fine policy, and he won his case in Federal Court. Kara and Nate explain it in their Vlog #762 (ruclips.net/video/lEUHr4U9MgA/видео.html).

    • @chrisandsara
      @chrisandsara  3 года назад

      Hi Theo! We were aware of the rule being overturned, unfortunately that has nothing to do with drone flying (at least to our knowledge). That video is definitely confusing and causing some bad information to circulate, but the filming they're referring to pertains being allowed to film in the parks at all without a permit. Prior to the rule being overturned earlier this year, we wouldn't have been able to even make this video without a permit (which we might not have even been granted). The national parks will likely remain drone free to protect the safety of people and wildlife, and for the benefit of those hoping to enjoy the parks in peace without drones buzzing overhead. Kara and Nate's drone fine was (to our knowledge) a different ordeal since it's always been illegal to fly drones in national parks. We've heard rumors that they were in fact flying the drone in a national park which would be a huge fine, but we can't confirm that since we don't really know what the whole story is.

    • @chrisandsara
      @chrisandsara  3 года назад

      Hi Nora! That's a really good question. I did notice that all of the boats and bathroom buildings had ramps that would work for wheelchairs. The main thing to note is that all the roads on the island are sand which can be tricky to navigate with a cane and/or wheelchair. However, I just read that the island does have special off road wheelchairs that can be made available upon special request! They also offer guided van tours of the island if that's more your speed. While it's definitely possible to walk with a cane on sand, note that the island is pretty spread out (which is why we rented bikes) so a motorized wheelchair could be the best option. Here's the link to the official accessibility page with more information: www.nps.gov/cuis/planyourvisit/accessibility.htm. Hope this helps! :)
