I've lived in Fernandina since 1987. It is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. Just don't let your kids think they can get away with anything, we all know each other lol.
i’ve lived in fernandina beach for a few years now i don’t live on the island but it’s only 5 minutes away from my house and i will say it’s so relaxing here. I used to live in gainesville Florida and the difference is crazy! it’s so quiet!
Love Amelia Island - stayed at the Blue Heron Inn for anniversary one year then took a boat ride to see the wild horses running on the beach on Cumberland Island. Enjoy your trip!
Love that you show small towns! I don’t love seafood either. I like it. I live on an island too so I feel like I should love it. I don’t like fried seafood either, but I do like fried hush puppies!
My grandparents had a 3 story house on fernandina beach. Loved my summers back then. Trampoline parks. Water slides. Jellyfish stings.. The good OLD days.
So glad you enjoyed your visit! Amelia Island has been my home for the past 36 years. It’s charming and beautiful here. You definitely hit some favorite hotspots!
You guys should stop at Jekyll Island. Dogs are allowed on the beach and you can bike the entire island. My Italian greyhound loved it. You can find sand dollars all along the beach. Make sure you stop by driftwood beach at Jekyll Island.
I agree about the drone shot of the harbor and the boat coming from left to right in the cove.....driving perfectly straight. That was so relaxing to watch. 👍😊
Fernandina Beach is a great town. Hope next time you get to Fort Clinch. Also the drive down A1A to Mayport is very pretty, only about an hour, and goes through or by 4 state parks. Another small town to visit is Cedar Key. It was the western terminus for a railroad that started in Fernandina Beach. David Levy Yulee was responsible for it's creation. Cedar Key is kind of a sleepy community that's become an artist haven. Take a boat jaunt to Atsena Otie Key, which was where the town was originally before it was hit by the 1896 hurricane and made everyone move to the 'mainland'.
If y’all like finding movie locations then visit Seaside Florida if you haven’t already. It’s where the Truman Show was filmed and it’s absolutely the most immaculate town. Also Lake Lure NC is a cool place and it’s one of the main locations where Dirty Dancing was filmed and the town next to it is chimney rock and the state park there is where the Last of the Mohicans was filmed.
Small towns are the reason we loved Fort Myers so much, but it is changed forever--which saddens us. But we are visiting Amelia Island soon, and very much looking to seeing this small town. We tend to go for the older parts of Florida. See you all soon. 🇬🇧
Amelia Island is definitely an upscale beach community. Ritz Carlton Amelia is a beautiful 5 star luxury resort maybe you guys can stay there next time with your family! Beautiful video and drone shots! ~Cara 😊
Dude I lived there for years. It is probably the least "upscale" town in Florida that calls itself a resort island. Yes the Ritz is nice and then you have the Plantation, but Fernandina Beach is more on the blue collar mentality side. Live there long enough and you find out what it's like in reality.
We are very much enjoying your videos. It so nice that you choose to showcase one place without a lot of extra this and thats. And very well edited as well. Great job you two!
You should stop at Tybee Island, GA. (Savannah's beach). The movie starring Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth "The Last Song" was filmed there. The church in the movie is a wedding venue on the island and the pier is awesome.
I'm from Vicksburg, MS. It's right along the Mississippi River and is the site of a big Civil War siege so there's a national park there. It's close to the Natchez Trace and has lots of history being right along the river. Catfish is well known there and there's lots of cool art and a fun downtown area thats really been revitalized since my time there (shameless plug for my mom's bookstore, Lorelei Books). Lots of new fun restaurants but you still get to see old beautiful houses around downtown too. If you ever make it there, I'm happy to give recommendations!
Thanks for the video! I just watched your video on Cumberland Island that I found when trying to determine where I could see wild horses and now I'm seeing this one on Amelia Island. We're driving to Neptune Beach, FL for a wedding in a few months and I'm scouting for places to stop on our drive from the Upstate SC. We've been to Charleston, Beaufort, Hilton Head and Savannah, so these areas we haven't seen before are attractive to us and your videos were really helpful.
My Brothers and Sisters, the SunShine ☀️ 🌞 State is a Great 😊 place to visit, because of the Beaches 🏝 🏖, Miami FL, and Disney World 🌎 to, my Brothers and Sisters 😊
Jekyll Island is my all time favorite place of anywhere. Georgia seaturtle center, driftwood beach. I love that you have to pay to get on the island; keeps it uncrowded and peaceful.
Mark…unfortunately The men who met there to create the federal reserve were less than honorable. Left a bad taste in my mouth and made me never want to go there. As per your recommendation I just may have to check it out. ✌🏼❤️😎
You should come up to Lancaster, PA! We are known as Amish country but most people don’t know we have tons of small brewery, art galleries, coffee shops and a fun outdoor activities! We actually get printed in The NY Times because of our restaurant scene! We are also near hershey, Pa
Lol I was there the same time at Cumberland in April. It is a nice town and beach. The Fort Clinch in between was pretty nice and Cheap. If you are headed North into S.C stop off at Fripp Island off of Beufort. Forest Gump was filmed there among others
As I usually do after your videos… ADDED to my list of places to visit! Also - 10:38 - that drone shot was epic timing with the bird circling the boat! Patience or happy accident - I like it!
I’ve got a great town for you to showcase: Annapolis, Maryland. Lots of history, charm, sailboats and seafood. The US Naval Academy is located there, too. Love it!
Come to Abingdon/Bristol/Damascus (all next to each other) it AMAZING. Lived here my whole life. State Theatre. Virginia Creeper trail. Very historic town.
Hey guys! We love the chill vibe of your videos. Great music and editing and so much fun. Keep 'em up! And to put in our two cents worth, we would say visit Fairhope, AL. I am from Mobile, AL and if you want a nice, quiet getaway but with lots of food and hole-in-the-wall options, this is the place. We recommend Refuge Coffee and the attached bookstore. Also, Provision is a surprising find in such a small place. Many other stops, so do a video there!! Would be great!
Thank you, Scott! We've had a couple of other people recommend Fairhope too so I'm thinking it'll definitely be on the itinerary for one day sooner rather than later. Thanks for the specific recommendations. You know we love good coffee so Refuge will be on the list. :)
You should check out Cheraw, SC! hometown of Dizzy Gillespie, and just a beautiful small town of history. Also, the Patriot was filmed in my backyard at Brattonsville (which is between Chester and York SC)! York has amazing small stores and the storefronts are super cute. And the Garden Cafe. Don't get me started. This is all about an hour outside of Charlotte, which has amazing whitewater, and great mountain biking.
I love seafood, other than fish “n” Chips ( I’m from Australia) we tend to eat seafood at a nice restaurant and let me tell you, it isn’t cheap. But delicious 😉
Hi Debbie! We tried staying at the state park on Amelia Island, but it was booked up. We ended up snagging a spot at a State Park in Jacksonville and it was only about a 45 minute drive up in the morning. :)
@@chrisandsara Thanks! we live in northcentral Florida, and have not yet explored that area. looking forward to it though, so really appreciated your video!

Hi Martin! Anna Marie has beautiful sands, but the town of Fernandina Beach is great! If you’re looking to just hangout at the beach the whole time, Anna Marie is wonderful. If you want to go to dinner and have a small town to explore, Amelia is the better bet. If you’re going in the winter you might consider going even further south to the Keys since the water will be warmer there. Hope this helps and have fun! ☺️
@@chrisandsara Yeah me too. But after I moved there it turned out to be one of the worst decisions I've ever made. Ok for a visit though, if you can handle the traffic going in.
The term “low country” is completely wrong, and a bit offensive. This is the South, and locals are Southerners. We have a rich history going back to the first colonization is the USA. Thank you for the nice video, bless your hearts.
Love your visits to the small towns. We moved to Aiken, SC from Long Island , NY. about 2 years ago. We love our new southern lifestyle. If you decide to visit Aiken in your travels, please contact me. I would be happy to give you place to park and let you take normal longgggg showers. Also, I’m in the middle building a 170 WB, 4x4 sprinter.
I grew up in FB. Many years ago while out skateboarding with my friends downtown we got busted taking quarters for Coke machines from that fountain at 10:15... oh the memories!
You both look happy to be back traveling. Hope you can find many more livable small towns; they are fast disappearing though I suspect COVID may have helped arrested the decline as people departed from cities en masse. Did you see any signs of recent growth in Fernandina Beach?
Thanks, Frank! We're so happy to be back to traveling. Life is slowly feeling normal again. We didn't notice any growth in Fernandina Beach, but in other areas in the south construction is booming and the housing market is incredibly competitive. Small towns are definitely going through a lot of growth out here. Hope you all area doing well! I think I still owe you an e-mail which I'll hope to answer today (I've been very behind since we've been traveling again).

When I saw the title, my first words were, “I hope they go to Timoti’s!!!” We’ve only been there once but it definitely left an impression!!
Thats where my wife is from! We love it there, defiantly Floridas best hidden gem!
Definitely is! I'm sure it was a wonderful place to grow up, too. :)
