      I love these videos, but I would love to see some specifically for people who have fine, thin curly or wavy hair and leave their hair in its natural state and air dry. It’s hard for me to get a good cut because a totally blunt cut won’t work for me because it sticks out to the sides on the bottom too much. Hair stylists always tell me I need more layers for movement and to create the right shape, but they often mess up my hair when they do layers, and I wind up miserable. It sometimes cuts my hair in the middle of my curl and makes my curls point towards my face instead of away also. Very annoying.

    Age 71. I have had long straggly hair since I stopped cutting and coloring it 2 years ago. I used to pay $150 plus tip for C & C, but today I couldn’t stand it anymore. It has gotten thin in front and straggly and unkempt in uneven back.
    I dropped in a cheap ($7.95 Great Clips) and the older stylist followed my request and cut it shoulder length straight/blunt all the way around. It took about 8 minutes! It looks so much healthier and thicker, and my gray/white hair absolutely shimmers with new life. What a coup. Yes, I tipped her $20. ❤
    Then I stumbled onto this post after I got home and it looks like I did the right thing for my poor, thin, straggly hair. 👍

    Update: I did the chop and I'm so happy my hair feels and looks so thick and so healthy now! Also all the frizz I previously had is gone. Girl do it, cut it! Long, stringy dead ends don't look cute or actually long at all.

    My hair is even thinner than it was when I was younger. My hair is still very fine but I also have significantly less of it. I was thinking of a bob cut but with my aging face, I’m not sure it will work. I like the idea of a shoulder blunt bob, I think I’ll start there. Now, as I grow that cut out, my hair is much more of a butterfly style, but I'm not too pleased. I'm on my way back to a long bob - slight layers, blunt ends, and slight A-line just below/around my collarbones. That style looks and feels great, my hair loves and rocks it, and my hair seems thicker and healthier with a Lob style.

When I gather all of my hair into a ponytail, the part gathered up is about the size of the tip of my pinkie finger at best. And it's fine.....& wavy. And then on top of that, I've have what looks like a huge part .....I've always had it but now it's much worse w/my hair thinning out to about 1/3 the amount I used to have...& it was never a thick head of hair.

    • @StylesBySummer
      @StylesBySummer Год назад +5

      That is how my hair is so I was so surprised how much I like my butterfly/layered cut! If you prefer your hair to look as thick as possible in the front, a bob is your best bet. I wore my hair in a bob with no layers in my sides for yrs and it always made my hair look much thicker than it is and you can still get ample volume with one.

    • @GlamGirlGabi
      @GlamGirlGabi  Год назад +6

      I have the same issue as well. My hair has density at the back but next to no density at the front. For me, the biggest solution to this issue is to keep the sides completely un-layered. I recently got a modified butterfly cut like Summer did and the density is significantly minimized at the front but I still love it because I have more volume at the crown. It is all about finding the cut that works the best for you and what your end goal is.

As much as i love the idea of the bixie, i wouldnt go there at this time as i just git finish growing out my pixie a year ago. But its such a cute style, maybe someday, just not now. I love the butterfly cut idea as that would solve some of my weight problems. Im going to bring that up to my daughter who is also my stylist too. I'd love to do a full bang too, but in the summer i sweat too much and i straighten my wavy hair. So that might be too much work once the heat hits. So ill stick with my curtain bangs for now. • @GlamGirlGabi
      @GlamGirlGabi  Год назад +5

      The butterfly cut is a perfect example of a 90s haircut. It is beautiful because it is so bouncy and light BUT there is a lot of layering so you lose the baseline perimeter. If you hair is VERY fine and thin, I wouldn't suggest this because the ends will become too wispy. If you have a regular amount of density, you will be okay to get it as long as you go to someone who is skilled at cutting and can customize it to your hair.

    These are all great cuts- the problem is finding someone that can give you the cut and do it right. Do you know or have any recommendations for the LA area ? • @GlamGirlGabi

      I hear that. It can be so hard to find that perfect stylist. I don't live in LA so I just don't know who is best there but when you call to make an appointment, I would request someone who specifically understands fine hair cutting techniques. Another issue could be in your styling. Are you good at styling your hair? Sometimes the missing link is knowing how to STYLE the cut more than the actual cut itself.

    I took Gabi's instructions for a blunt bob to my stylist last year and she's been following it to the tee ever since. Very good results; she was impressed with how just a few tweaks like the undercut at the nape of the neck worked. It's just a great cut, even looks good just out of bed. I also have very thin hair, always. And since menopause it became a bit thinner. I haven't heard this mentioned on Gabi's platform but I did begin low dose oral minoxidil from my dermatologist. We are at 64 mg at month 6. I did see the expected shedding increase at month 1 and since then a marked decrease in shedding and now baby hairs visible at my part and forehead where my hair line begins. My part is definitely narrowing. Not everyone can use LDOM but my derm says that it is effective but takes time. I might increase my dosage. And it is inexpensive.

      Roll it. Use wide rollers and plop it on top of your head. If your hair doesn't take to heat styling well (mine doesn't and will drop the curl unless I absolutely fry it) do pin curls. I don't use bobby pins because my hair is so fine they fall out. I use snap clips which work like those 90s slap bracelets and are more secure. I do 4 pin curls, two on top and one on each side. If I do it while my hair is damp, when my hair dries I will have curls that last 1~3 days. The looser you roll them the more "wave" you will get and less curl, which is great for volume and texture. You can also do this on dry hair (for when you aren't washing your hair) for a touch up, however it doesn't last as long. Bonus, rolling takes ten minutes tops for my entire head since less hair means less pins!

    • @StylesBySummer
      @StylesBySummer Год назад +1

      Hair color can make a huge difference in making ones hair look look thicker! Having highlights expands your individual strand so it will look and feel a little more full. If your hair is very fine/thin I suggest keeping it more medium to short in length as when this hair type gets longer it can look thinner and lighter hair will increase that look. Overall a darker color tends to make the hair look more full, IMO.

Thanks for your videos! I'm definitely going to start checking out Summer too.

      @GlamGirlGabi  Год назад

      Hey! How fine is your baseline? If you have a regular amount of density (amount of hair per square inch of scalp), then you are probably fine to do some layers to increase the volume at the crown. If your hair is VERY VERY FINE or thinning, I would probably keep the baseline strong and not cut layers. Your stylist knows your hair though and he probably has a great idea of how to get the most out of your hair. I LOVE my stylist so I always trust what she recommends because she is the one with her hands in there and cutting hair all day long (plus she is GREAT!) The real question is, how much do you trust him?

      Hey Jackie! What kind of extensions are you wearing? I wore extensions for YEARS....I understand how you feel. For over ten years, I NEVER EVER felt pretty going to a party or event without some kind of fake hair. It is only in the last year that I am feeling confident about my own natural hair. Summer can relate to that as well. She wore extensions forever too.

      Oh! Didn’t know that! They are weave in and I have them raised every 4 weeks.

      It can be SO SCARY! I wore them for a lot of my 20s, took a long break and then pretty much all of 2022 I wore them again. I started out with tape ins and then went to fusions. I was super careful with the amount I put in and soooo careful with everyday stress on my scalp. I took them out 2 weeks ago and was so shocked I actually like my hair without them, especially with it being a little longer! Are you nervous because you're afraid of any potential hair loss you might have or are you nervous because you won't have as much thickness/length?

    I am balling my eyes out because I had perfect voluminous hair and a hair stylist chopped and damaged all my hair off. She over texturized my hair and only left like two strands behind now my hair is frizzy and damaged. If anyone reads this and has been through this please share tips because I’m heart broken.

    Hi just curious about layers. I watched one of your videos and absolutely love the cut (thinking about doing it tomorrow) and you say do NOT get layers in fine hair. This video is saying light layers is ok.

      Depends on how fine your hair is. If it’s VERY fine, you need to keep the baseline so you don’t want to get layers and make the baseline too thin. If you have a regular amount of density (amount of hair per square inch of scalp) but it’s fine in texture, you can get light layers. You just have to make sure that you’re always maintaining a strong perimeter or the hair will look too fine.

    I have such fine thin hair but I wear my hair back/up everyday. Heading to the salon soon. Thinking of a blunt bob. But just not sure.

    I suffer from alopecia so my hair is super thin. The ends have no density whatsoever. Thanks for the video a blunt bob looks like the option for me

    I have naturally curly hair that has gotten thinner since I had COVID. Can I also get a blunt bob or do I need layers?
