      I have noticed using velcro rollers. I am breaking my ends. Getting them out of my hair. True they do the best set for my straight fine hair. Is there a secret product that I'm missing to help style my hair and get them out of my hair with less pulling?

    Hi, I’m also a hairstylist with fine, stick-straight hair that feels like corn silk when I have no products in. People always think I have such thick hair when it’s styled out, but I always tell them, “it’s just an illusion of products.” 😀
    Just some info of what my favorite volumizing products are:
    Big Sexy Hair Root Pump Plus, Redken Volume Maximizer pump spray, (both before blow drying on towel dried hair) and Big Sexy Hair Powder Play (after drying, before final styling hairspray.)
    I do have to use a round brush when drying, and curling iron here and there afterwards. My hairstyle is like Lisa Rinna’s.
    I also like a bit of “Bed Head Manipulator” for extra texture throughout and on ends. Paul Mitchell Freeze and Shine hairspray.
    I hope these products might help someone else with naturally super- straight, flat hair. 😊

    I've never heard anyone mention that hot tools collapse volume, but you're right!! I'm flashing back to all the times I've tried sooo hard to have loose waves. Starting with painstakingly volumized hair, pulling out the curling iron, and ending up with sad limp stringy hair! Thank you! My life makes more sense now😅😆

    I blow dry my hair with a round brush. Before it is totally dry, I use Velcro rollers. I leave them in an hour or more. When I take the rollers out, my hair has body & bounce. The do stays for 2 to 3 days if the humidity is low. I use an anti frizz cream, as well to keep my hair smooth. I LOVE VELCRO ROLLERS.

    Max Factor used to have a thickening lotion that worked well but then it was discontinued. Same happened to Got2B's thickening powder. These days I find that products containing wax and clay create enough stiffness but tend to leave a noticeable film on my hair---because my baby fine texture requires the use of more than the recommended amount of product.

I decided to keep the length this time. But it has been so long I had no clue what was out there now product wise. Was actually just in Ulta yesterday looking for things. I knew I definitely needed something for volume for sure. And funny too, actually saw root "powder" like you mentioned. Lol. (years ago just always used mousse). Hello Hello!! I have thin, straight hair. I usually roll my hair in 2.5 inch velcro rollers when my hair in damp, and let it air dry- for volume. Before it’s fully dry, I’ll blow dry the whole area and let it cool. But no matter how careful I am, velcro rollers always give me an issue when taking them out. I roll gently, not to tight, etc. I always see magnetic rollers on kinkier hair that’s being rolled in a wet set. Those don’t give me issue like velcro rollers, but are a super hard for me to work with- with my thin, straight hair falling out. Any advice? Thx!!

    You're 100% correct about hot tools deflating volume! I got rid of all my flat irons because, regardless of how I used it, my hair recalled being contained between two flat plates - it falls flat and completely straight. Ugh. One of my favorite volumizers is the Kristin Ess braiding powder. How do you keep you hair from showing "parts" from cooling in Velcro rollers? Thank you!!

    • @SunFlower-xp6hw

      I have lots of hair but it is fine and the easiest way to get volume are hot rollers.Just bought my second Conair hot roller machine.Once hair is cooled I remove rollers and use Ellenet hair spray or if staying in lightly twist hair into sections aand pile on top of my head with scrunching.Then have curls for 3 days!

    • @vlfriscia
      @vlfriscia 2 года назад

      @@SunFlower-xp6hw LOL!! I knew there was some reason for keeping that Conair hot roller set in my closet all these years! With the pandemic and working at home for 2 years, I couldn’t even be bothered with the Velcro rollers - which work very well - much less blowouts or hot rollers. Now I am almost a year past needing a haircut and color, just wash and twist my hair up most days I have to go to the office, and it’s pathetic. I am going to take the blunt cut video in to my stylist, have my color done, and see if I can have nice hair again. So glad I discovered this channel! I honestly don’t even remember how to use a hot tool, and I probably have 20 of them, different kinds.

    I avoid all styling products, condition intensely, shampoo every 2 days, avoid all heat and cold blow-dry gently with a ceramic roller-brush with just 1 pump of Moroccan oil. After, I use additional Moroccan oil at the ends only. I also have a high-protein diet.
    My fine hair thanks me by being 'happier', thicker and healthier. As someone in her mid-forties, my hair has more bounce and thickness than most thirty year olds.

    Velcro rollers may not work for everyone. I have fine hair and when I’ve tried them my hair gets all tangled and it’s impossible to get the rollers out without tearing the hair. I’m not sure what the difference may be? I’ve tried them more than once without success.

  • @victoriabiel5861
    @victoriabiel5861 2 года назад +2

    I have tried Velcro rollers many times in the past, but I find that they stick to my hair so much that it becomes extremely difficult to remove them without tearing sections of my hair. You did not seem to have this problem at all; your rollers came off smoothly without any hairs sticking to the tiny bristles. Other than shampoo and conditioner, I generally never put any extra products in my hair as my hair curls very easily. But if there is some product out there that helps the hair not to stick impossibly to the rollers, I would certainly consider it.

    I actually wash my fine, thin hair in the tub upside down. I have not used conditioner in years and I have bleach on my hair as my hair is almost white. I have a blunt straight cut. I wish I could use velcro rollers but my hair is so fine that they get caught in my hair(s). I'm going to try that sprinkle stuff. My hair has been a constant problem for me. All I can do is wear it straight and long. It WILL NOT curl. I guess that's good for people who want straight hair. Thank you for all of your hacks! Thank you gorgeous one!

    I’ve always thought of trying to do shampoo on the scalp and conditioner on the ends at the same time but was worried that the conditioner would be waisted as the shampoo runs down and washes it away. I like your idea! What type of shampoo would you recommend when doing this technique on dry lifted wavy hair? Thank you

    • @AmaraJordanMusic
      @AmaraJordanMusic 2 года назад +2

      My understanding is that the conditioner sort of penetrates the open cuticles of the hair shaft if you leave it on for a few minutes, and then any extra time it's on there, it won't add extra sleekness or shine or protection or whatever you want out of that specific conditioner. So really, it's done it's job by then and won't be wasted at all by shampooing! The shampoo WILL get the residue off, but it won't strip the cuticle. Maybe something very harsh like a clarifying shampoo, maybe, but generally I don't think so. I hope this helped, and good luck on your hair journey!

    Did you use any styling products prior blowdrying your hair? And how do you like this revlon dryer? How about heat protectant, which ones are good for fine hair? Some are too heavy for fine hair

    My hair is thick and curly, but the strands are soo fine, and it's currently the longest it's ever been, so I've really begun to notice how weighed down and "thin" it looks sometimes. This video was super helpful, and I'm definitely gonna try some of these. I don't really "style" my hair on a daily basis (it ends up in a bun at work everyday anyways), so I'm particularly interested in trying to shampoo my scalp after conditioning my ends!

    I have thin hair. Not overly thin. You couldn't tell on the first day I wash my hair but then after I go to sleep and wake up in the morning my hair losses that body that it has overnight. Thank you for another great video. What was the size of your curling wand?

    New subscriber here, I like your down to earth manner
    My hair is down past my waist ( bum length ) I wash it twice a week never blow dry it except the fringe. I only comb it with a very wide toothed comb after washing it and finger comb the rest of the time. My hair is fine but overall, except for the root lifting product and shampoo which is one from India which is the only one I buy ( takes a few weeks to get here ) that's all I do to my hair. I don't use conditioner it's just too heavy for my hair and I lose my natural curl. A friend of mine is a hairdresser and chains me up every few months .....kidding...kidding, but she comes over and gives me a trim....she uses a deep treatment on my hair which is amazing. That's my hair regimen, it works for me.....probably not for everyone, but yes about the huge rollers if I'm going somewhere special, I put them in the top of my head. Because my hair's so long I just have to be careful when I put them in because of tangles. ✂️

    I would probably try the Velcro rollers. Are used to use them all the time when I was in high school which was in 1979 to 82 something like that. I always forget about them the right after I dry my hair and then they don’t hold as well and the front roller closer to my nose I guess she would say always flops down. Thank you for your video

    I totally do that tip on conditioning my ends and then shampooing mostly cause is saves me Time 🤷🏾‍♀️. I love using Velcro rollers after I blow out my hair. I also use dry shampoo right after a blow dry. It helps with the volume 💇🏾‍♀️

    I used the link for the powder and ordered it. It wasn’t granuals like you showed, but real powder. I made my hair feel dirty. I’ll try tapping over most of the holes so as not to use as much, but was disappointed that it wasn’t the granuals.

      Hey! It comes out like salt. Is that what yours looks like? And you’re right that it makes the hair feel gritty. That’s what it’s intended to do because that grit texture is what creates lift. Fine hair is so soft that it it’s flat. This powder creates a texture. If you don’t like it though, Amazon has a great return policy so you can always send it back.

    • @donlefarsace1794

      @@GlamGirlGabi no, mine is really powder! Maybe it doesn’t make a difference. It sounds like the salt look feels the same. Thanks for responding!

      Hey Liz! Are you starting from the ends and rolling it like I show in the video? It could also be the Velcro rollers you’re using because I had some that did that too but these ones don’t.

      @@vanessamalik1102 Hey! Definitely use the large size that I demo'd in the video. The one that I am using is by DryBar and it is excellent. It comes with large and medium but I only use large because I just want height and not curl (not that velcro rollers really curl anyway). If you check the description box. Question: my hair is thick, stick straight AND fine, which means any lift, wave or curl I attempt lasts about 7 seconds. My hair is also extremely dry, and I only wash 2 times a week. Rarely use heat to dry or curl. I love my long hair, and I do have layers cut into it… any other tips?

  • @kimhackl7112

    I love your hair this length and am wondering if you would please do a video on how you achieved this style. Did you "crimp" it with a flat iron? My hair is just a little shorter than yours and I currently crimp with a flat iron. I am done with wrapping my fine, somewhat thin hair in a curling iron, plus I love the look of the crimping with the flat iron. I am planning to grow my hair to the length yours is, and am wondering how to style it to look just like yours. I love it!!

    I love your tips for fine hair. Mine is super fine and rather thin as well so need all the help I can get!! I read the ingredient list for the Kristin Ess scalp exfoliant and the no. 1 ingredient is sugar and fragrance is no. 5 of 20 or so total. Wonder if this a version of a sugar scrub that was the rage in home skin care a while back? Thanks for suggesting velcro rollers and keeping the heat down in addition to blow drying for fine hair volume. Just saying would love more unscented options due to allergies.
