On the point of it being mono, couldn't you put it in the chain just before one of the two amps and turn down the dry, to give it a proper doubling effect rather than the mono effect to one/two amps?
Yeah. Just put it in front of one of your two amps, kill the dry on the pedal, and get the same effect as the full stereo, just without the the multiple dubs feature.
I use it after my Lehle Dual (before 1 of the two amps) and the DRY turned all the way down. Works like a charm! It even sound cool with the tightness maxed out.
Basically what i was thinking a minute into the video as well. You could even go further and get 2 of these things with one being really subtle and the other side really intense and so get an even wider effect for 50 bucks.

I think is happening the SAME thing that happened to the Boss Metalizer, which had a stereo output at least, but nobody understand neither have an scenario in that moment to use the pedal on his real purpose. Maybe if you want a faux EVH kind of thing. Doubling not in true stereo doesn't make much sence to me tbh. Full size mimiq all the way! Although you could split your signal and use the mini on one side at 100% wetness. Would achieve the same effect as the regular mimiq if your happy without the extra switch
I think it sounds pretty good with cleans on the “tightest” setting, it also sounds like a subtle chorus effect. If you want great chorus pedal get a boss waza dimension c chorus but for $35 total to ship from the uk to us it’s worth it.
I have the bigger stereo version of this pedal and it's fantastic live running into two Amps. HOWEVER, I feel like this mono version should be outlawed... Lol. This mono version paints a bad picture of the flexibility and awesomeness of the stereo pedal. Tc should discontinue this mono version and only produce the stereo version in my opinion that no one asked for lol. Keep up the great videos Bea, you rule.
I guess it could work as well if you put the mini Mimic in front of only 1 amp and have it set full wet and have the other amp receive your dry signal. But I would still choose the full stereo pedal, if I wanted to get one :P
Got the stereo version of this pedal and I love it, but any time that I’m in a situation with a mono set up or the FOH engineer mixes in mono, it basically just sounds like a phasey chorus pedal. I changed to amp modeling (HX Stomp) and got two Powercabs, and one major motivator for that was so that I could use the Mimiq as a stereo doubler, even if I’m playing with a mono PA- I can at least have that width on stage now. That being said, I think the mono version of this pedal is anything but a doubler unless you split the signal two ways before the Mimiq Mini, as others have been saying. I love my Mimiq but it’s frustrating how often it isn’t of help to me in a live setting, because it’s rare that FOH engineers will do a lot of panning due to phase issues and the audience needing to get the full experience.

It seems that this mini at 30 bucks is discontinued. Considering that those working with stereo amps already split their signal somewhere, the mini is all we need on one channel. But now we can only buy the 120 bucks one with one dry signal?
Hi Rabea! Thanks for another great video. Have you had any fun new experiments with the Quad Cortex in the last few weeks? Hoping mine will arrive sometime in the next two weeks in Canada!
First in the chain of your main effects. But after any tuners or noise suppressors. You can experiment with after your overdrive but I'm pretty positive it'll sound a bit dodgy
@@KennyC1983 I use a regular sized Mimiq with my Kemper -- to me, it sounds better than the built-in delay widener effect from the recent Kemper firmware releases. I'd put it in an stereo effects loop (well, mono send/stereo return) in the X or MOD slot.
Great vid as always Rabea. How do you find the acoustics for recording in the sloped ceiling space? I’ve just moved into a similar space and trying to where best to place panels etc.
The general rule in building an acoustically sound control room is to eliminate as many parallel surfaces as possible. This helps to stop weird dead zones in the room where reflected sounds meet each other and give strange phase cancellation effects. That's why you often see adjustable-angle floating ceilings in very high end studios, and strange titled walls in custom-built spaces. So in that respect, a sloped ceiling is a perfect starting point, so long as you can do something about the walls too!
You pretty much can get this with a digital delay that has a really short delay minimum or even a flanger with a manual/delay and a way to kill most of the resonance
So I think this pedal actually sounds phenomenal and at first I was in love with it BUT... I don't see an actual use for it. I tried it live and to be honest I never felt like it did an actual difference. I'm guessing part of it is due to the fact that a venue IS a stereo effect. the sound bounces around and even mono things sound wide and stereo, so I felt like I was just making my rig more complicated. In studio... why not just actually double track? It'll sound better and it ain't actually that much longer to do. So, I'm gonna sell my pedal after a year with it.
The full-size is discontinued I believe, and this will likely soon follow suit... But I was always curious if two guitarists in a band used these, how much phasing would there be?
I currently use a TC Electronic MIMIQ Doubler pedal for my current dual mono rig to split the signal to two amps and give me that bigger sound but I've been wanting to try a wet/dry setup. I'm not sure if this pedal makes sense for wet/dry as it seems to be designed for stereo use. If I run my wet effects through the MIMIQ, will that just sound TOO lose being that the MIMIQ is only effecting my wet affects? (Chorus, tremolo, reverb delay) Any help would be really appreciated!
After watching this video and doing some research I bought this pedal. I tried it through 2 amps, cabs in stereo. I used it for a day and sent it back. Sounded like crap, even in bypass mode. No matter what I did it had this strange flange effect and loss of bottom end. Do not waste your money.
Mmmm... for riffs it OK and also for some experiments. But there are also other possibilities to make the sound bigger, brighter and especial... I would use for example the Moai Maea from KMA...with a lot of possibilities...
I think the only issue with it, I usually go for another effect for a riff, like a wah or splicer. I could see using it more frequently on an effects processor though.
Hey Rabea, I love your content and enjoy your playing. I absolute adore your new ambient stuff, and that made me think: maybe you could more often demo stuff in a more musical/band/song setting? I mean some of the sounds I enjoy most out of my gear is when I play alone, but sometimes that falls pretty flat in a band setting (at a minimum it always requires tweaking). Since you're pretty knowledgeable in both studio recording as well as live shredding, can maybe try and give examples how a pedal/amp/guitar/other gear sounds beyond solo noodling in the attic? (no critique, I noodle in the attic too XD) Just a wish list item! (English is not my first language, so please ignore the tone of any parts that might sound harsh/disrespectful, I don't mean it that way!) Keep up your great content!!
hi rabea, probably this version could be the most unnecessary release of (IMO) one of the most amazing pedals in the recent years, im talking of course of the full stereo version. and lisent it live is f... amazing, you should check ken andrews rig rundown (the last one) where show some sounds with that stereo version
If they'd just included a "bypass" out as well, i.e. pure dry signal, this would be a steal and they'd have sold triple the units in my opinion. I believe the big boy can put multiple doubles on both channels. This one could just be doubling effect on one channel, ONLY bypass on the other. Big miss here in my opinion.
I would LOVE to have a pedal thats sort of like the waves reel adt plugin. Its this sort of deal but instead of having just a set delaytime, the delay sits around 20ms but goes faster and slower making it sound much more like an actual double track. The effekt/wet signal also goes sliiightly up/down in pithc when its faster/slower making it sound extremely natural, i use it alll the time for riffs, leads, even vocals when i want them to sound wide/double tracked!! If I found a pedal like that i’d buy it _instantly_!!
Holy shit, it just came to me: if you just want to widen your sound with a second amp and already have any kind of stereo effect pedal (delay, reverb) you only need the mimiq mini. Just put it in your right path, kill the dry signal and bob‘s your mothers brother. I have never heard this anywhere, though I’m sure TC was aware of this. But they probably would’ve sold much less of the bigger version. Anyway, they are discounted everywhere, so I’m getting one.
I'd rather use a slight bit of chorus to get a fatter sound (one guitar band here also). The stereo pedal makes all the more sense though if you have a stereo rig.
I'll be the weirdo here. I actually prefer my mimiq in mono. In stereo it just sounds way too much like a phaser on my board. Would be awesome if you could lower the effect without causing a huge volume imbalance.
The Mini makes no sense to me as the main effect relies on creating a super wide effect which is only achieved in stereo. There’s also a LOT less phasing issues with the more expensive version (in stereo).
Can't say I'm a fan of using this in a mono rig. In stereo, it's a great widener. In mono, it's a slightly metallic, dull chorus to my ears. I would assume you could still use the mini Mimiq in a stereo rig too - Just run it on one of the channels, and turn off the dry signal.
Lol I think you used it incorrectly. You should split the signal before it, and add this pedal to just one of the chains to add delay. The big MIMIQ pedal simply has that splitter built in, and the delay circuit applies to one of the signals. By idea, using it like this shouldn't change the audible signal at all, only add some slight odd harmonics by the imperfect circuit. The difference should be only in the milliseconds of delay and overall inaudible.
Is this any different than just running any analog delay with a really short slapback setting? Like does it do any DSP to mimic it being an actual second guitar?
For best results I personally use a mini actually IN a stereo rig.. just on one side of it, dry off, effect all the way up and adjust tightness to the feel you want 🤷🏻♂️

I think the only issue with it, I usually go for another effect for a riff, like a wah or splicer. I could see using it more frequently on an effects processor though.
I'm not so much a fan of Lee The "Deck Hand" but I really dig what you do. I appreciate this review.
I have a Mimiq on my Stereo DI board.
I love the full size one….It’s Randy Rhodes in a box…
I would LOVE to have a pedal thats sort of like the waves reel adt plugin. Its this sort of deal but instead of having just a set delaytime, the delay sits around 20ms but goes faster and slower making it sound much more like an actual double track. The effekt/wet signal also goes sliiightly up/down in pithc when its faster/slower making it sound extremely natural, i use it alll the time for riffs, leads, even vocals when i want them to sound wide/double tracked!! If I found a pedal like that i’d buy it _instantly_!!
get the stereo version of this and use two vibratos for L&R out with only slight pitch modulation depth & voila
Holy shit, it just came to me:
if you just want to widen your sound with a second amp and already have any kind of stereo effect pedal (delay, reverb) you only need the mimiq mini. Just put it in your right path, kill the dry signal and bob‘s your mothers brother.
I have never heard this anywhere, though I’m sure TC was aware of this. But they probably would’ve sold much less of the bigger version.
Anyway, they are discounted everywhere, so I’m getting one.
5:30 bea uses dad chords too!
Isles! 🏒
I'd rather use a slight bit of chorus to get a fatter sound (one guitar band here also). The stereo pedal makes all the more sense though if you have a stereo rig.
It's 100% a much need if you want to get close to dime sound if not pound salt no one cares get a doubler
I'll be the weirdo here. I actually prefer my mimiq in mono. In stereo it just sounds way too much like a phaser on my board. Would be awesome if you could lower the effect without causing a huge volume imbalance.
i have same feeling with you bro.i like more the mono
The Mini makes no sense to me as the main effect relies on creating a super wide effect which is only achieved in stereo. There’s also a LOT less phasing issues with the more expensive version (in stereo).
I have 4 arms and play both necks of a double neck at the same time
So you can use it to double riff while playing melody on second neck... Still profit
I didn't find it really did anything for a bigger stereo image at all
In Poland now it costs not £29 but £100
for 29 quid deffo worth a go for beginner pedal peeps, it is a bit lacking tho
Can't say I'm a fan of using this in a mono rig. In stereo, it's a great widener. In mono, it's a slightly metallic, dull chorus to my ears.
I would assume you could still use the mini Mimiq in a stereo rig too - Just run it on one of the channels, and turn off the dry signal.
Tightness down: Pre-Mutt Lange AC/DC
Tightness up: Post-Mutt Lange AC/DC
Lol I think you used it incorrectly. You should split the signal before it, and add this pedal to just one of the chains to add delay. The big MIMIQ pedal simply has that splitter built in, and the delay circuit applies to one of the signals. By idea, using it like this shouldn't change the audible signal at all, only add some slight odd harmonics by the imperfect circuit. The difference should be only in the milliseconds of delay and overall inaudible.
Is this any different than just running any analog delay with a really short slapback setting?
Like does it do any DSP to mimic it being an actual second guitar?
