Let's take a moment to appreciate a werewolf named Jack Russell. He's the best goodest boy.

Seeing Man Thing get a proper live action debut made me love this special even more. Of course I absolutely loved Jack and I loved all the references to the classic monster movies from Universal.
Also, if you guys are interested here’s some background on Man Thing:
Man Thing (real name Theodore “Ted” Sallis) burns people at his touch because when he senses people are afraid it makes him experience a sense of pain and he goes to snuff it out. When he finds the source of it, he touches it and the source burns at his touch. Although if the person stops being afraid Man Thing secretes a mucus type substance that stops the burning. Man Thing also guards a gateway to the Nexus of All Realities in the Everglades Swamp. The Nexus of All Realities basically allows you to travel the Multiverse which is what Man Tbing has done on several occasions when he was a part of the Thunderbolts when Luke Cage led the team.
Here’s some reading recommendations if you’re interested:
    - Savage Tales #1 (first appearance)
    - Astonishing Tales (1970) 12-13
    - Fear (1972) 11-19

So many of those shots were almost exactly like the drawings by Mike Ploog from the original comics run. Also did you catch the Homage to "An American Werewolf in London" when Jack is partially lying on his back in the crypt, in a pose similar to David in that other film during his transformation. So Cool!

As a person who picked up the WWbN as they were released to the corner store between school and home the only reason I was going to watch this show was because I wanted to see how badly they were going to mess up my favorite character. I fricking love this! I don't even care about the changes they made to Jack or Man-thing. I would love to see an ongoing WWbN and Man-Thing series.
Nerdy: I too became a child. I can not tell you how happy I was to see Man-Thing, I had no idea he would be here and the way Jack said Ted killed me.
Clarus: I am glad you enjoyed it.

This was unexpected. Honestly I started watching because of all the RUclips reaction videos coming up on my feed. My first thought was “isn’t Michael Giachino a composer? But this was wonderfully directed and so many details honoring old styles of filmmaking. It was the perfect length, too. And it appears that it was rewarding for comic book readers, but welcoming to those who are totally unfamiliar with the source like me. Loved your reactions.

I grew up on old movies like Wolfman and Dracula and it’s so refreshing to see it in this current day and age. Fun facts about the Werewolf by Night
    1. the monster pictures in the beginning, you could see the wendigo from the x men comics
    2. In the hallway of the entrance when Jack walking into the living room, you could see the supposed Gorr the God Butcher or what he supposedly to look like, the tendril alien killed by vikings similar to the comics.
    3. The makeup that Jack Russell on his face is the same makeup style from Coco and he was in Coco too.

They're not actually burn outs, they're "reel change" markers.
Before digital, films were generally broken into 1000' reels played on alternating projectors. Because silent and talkies had a different number of frames per second, reels lasted a different length for each (aprox. 15 minutes for silents and 11 minutes for talkies).
The first marker signaled when the protectionist should start the next projector, the second indicated when they'd shut off the lamp of the first projector and turn on the second.
Done properly and the audience would never even realize the change happened.
Interestingly, this show used silent film timing, and the pace was uneven, implying about a minute to minute-and-a-half "lost" footage that I suspect will be referenced in some later project.

If all the Marvel Special Presentations have this quality, sign me up! I loved it! I love the wholesome ending! I think it’s the best thing Marvel has put out in 2022 and might be my second favorite Phase 4 project next to Shang-Chi. I wanted it to be a 2 hour movie. I love that this had no connection to the wider MCU outside of that shot of the OG Avengers at the beginning. I loved the chemistry between Jack & Elsa and Jack & Ted. I love Ted. I love that Jack just went in there to save his buddy. And I love that this isn't the first time he's had to do this for Ted. I think he is my new favorite MCU character. It didn't really scare me though but I don't know if it was supposed to. My only gripe really is Jack's face paint didn't contrast enough. It was hard to see in black and white. And I was hoping for another Blade tease in an end credit scene.

I have hope that this will not be the first Marvel special presentation short, there are many characters in the comics that don't really fit into the MCU movie format that could be introduced like this. Not necessarily monster types either, mid level heroes and villains that typically appeared in the smaller marvel books like team-up and spotlight. It would be great to see heroes like Machine Man, Tigra, and Wonder Man.
