In this episode, Mark's brother Simon and his mum are visiting from Scotland. Mark & Holly take Simon out on the wreck of the Rita Zovetta in the West of Bermuda.

History of Rita Zovetta:
Built in 1919 by A. Stephen & Sons, Ltd., a Scottish shipyard in Glasgow, this cargo steamer was originally known as the War Gascon and it was outfitted to be a tanker. Two years later, the ship was converted to carry dry cargo and sold to Parodi & Accame of Genoa, Italy, and renamed the Rita Zovetta. Sailing from the port of Poti in Georgia on the Black Sea to Baltimore, Maryland, in 1924, the vessel with a 52-foot beam ran aground in heavy seas at the northeast end of Bermuda just off of St. David’s Lighthouse. There was no loss of life, and most of the cargo of manganese ore was offloaded before the ship sank on February 13, 1924. The ship was later heavily salvaged for non-ferrous scrap metals (brass, copper pipes, etc.) several times after World War II.

Fascinating history of this wreck - it's the thing I love about Bermuda - a lot of the wrecks have a huge back story of a real sinking, and years' worth of hurricanes moving them around etc, rather than some of the more recent purposely sunk wrecks. This is a super cool video - and great to see your brother too!

It an awesome wreck to explore. Was doing an AOWD course on it early last year and had 100ft viz on it and blew my mind 😂

It is an awesome dive, I dove that wreck and hourglass that day. The only diving I have. done on that end of the island
Hourglass is an awesome dive too! Next time in Bermuda defo do Cathedral or Lionfish Reef if diving that part of island as they are beautiful too
