We TRAINED New PADI Dive Instructors In AUSTRALIA - Adelaide Scuba x Blue Horizon Diving IDC 2023
You can absolutely hold your breath as long as you are at the same depth, and not going up or down , I got certified to scuba dive when I was 13 I am 52 now. When I’m diving , once I am at a level depth I take a breath & I hold it for about five seconds then let it out slowly , because of this technique I use,,,, My air last 20 minutes longer than everybody else’s. Most people get about 35 to 45 minutes at 50 feet , Me, I get up to an hour with plenty of time for my ascent to the surface 😮 The important thing is to not hold your breath while swimming up , the air will expand I am bad things will happen to you
While this is true and your lungs will not expand if staying stationary, it’s a good habit to practice normal breathing techniques. When you breathe in and your lungs fill, it slightly changes your buoyancy and makes you more positive, making it harder to stay at the same depth. What you do is skip breathing, something I never reccomend to scuba divers due to the possibility of CO2 buildup, increased chance of headaches and in severe cases, potential for a deep water blackout. Of course, breathe however you wish when you’re diving but this is not something I would recommend to others. I don’t skip breathe and I surface most hour long dives with well over half a tank of air.
That bag of chips is pure air
They are all like that now
Well done guys! Can't wait for your new adventures this year
Thank you. We have some fun trips to Fiji and Vanuatu this year! Got an amazing group of divers joining us on them.
@@BlueHorizonDiving Wow amazing! Have fun!!! Sincerely
Also forgot to tell you... Have a great time exploring Fiji and Vanuatu with the team this year 2025!!! Sincerely Dan
You can hold your breath while doing a certain skill at a certain depth but you can’t ascend while holding your breath if you have a perfect buoyancy and trim at a certain depth, for example switching regulators you can hold your breath while switching them or deploying your DSMB while maintaining depth, but you cannot ascend or descend while holding your breath
Exactly.
Thank you
Your welcome 🤗
What? No that's wrong. You are perfectly fine to hold your breath when diving... just exhale a bit when you r ascending. You can even hold a lil less than half your lungs volume from 10m... given you know how half feels like.
As you know every agency states this as the most important rule of scuba diving to continue breathing and never hold your breathe. DAN even advises against holding your breathe. Yes in tech you don’t incase you bust a deco stop. At this level you normally have sound bouyancy control. You know most people do not know what an exact half breathe is.
@BlueHorizonDiving i actually don't know that. I rather think its wrong. This seems to be a padi and Co thing for ppl who can't control their buoyancy. All of my instructors (rec and tec) taught me to not breath out when i keep my depth (different organisation i guess). Ofc when i dont have a reg in my mouth.
The most important rule is to not dive
Not to dive defeats the point of diving
The Angler Fish from Nemo will forever scare me from going in the water, and im from a surfing family 😭😭😭
Least you know they are very deep and no where near the good surf
Yeah, true, but only when you are on your way out of the water.
Anytime when ascending but always easier to just keep breathing
Another great demo! Thanks Holly!😊
Thank you legend
I’ve been bent and this is a perfect analogy great job
Thank you 🙏 hope you made a full recovery
I kinda like the purple chip bag more than the pink one for some reason 😂
I know right 😂
Plastic bag on your feet...works like a charm 🙂... but not very glamourous🙁
It does work, but yeah not the most glamorous look.😂
@@BlueHorizonDiving Works like a charm as a conversation starter too...but as an instructor, I get big stunned eyes every time...😃
really cool
It cool how it changes
This gave me talassophobia
It can for sure
Wow
It cool the color changes
Me on my way to present micro plastics to the deeps. (It's a joke)
Had to make sure in video everyone saw the packet come back up
Coool
Thanks 🙏
did the chips inside stay intact?
Yeah the chips stayed intact as the packet didn’t open.
Super interesting
Thanks 🙏
Awesome demo!
Thank you mate
this destination is worth going to, not ruined yet. that guy's not a Polynesian!, he's a white guy promoting tourism.
They guy guiding us was French but his mum is Polynesian and his dad was French.
don't go to Similan Islands, all dead coral. lion fish killed everything.
Thanks for letting us known
that NZer who killed the local friendly blue grouper was horrendous. great visibility for quick shore dive.
It was good visibility despite the conditions
snorkelled there surrounded by 100s turtles all queuing up for back scratches. best off beach snorkeling anywhere. see more sea life & sharks snorkelling there than scuba.
On deeper bommies you get mantas and tigers regularly which is really cool
poor visibility & not much coral
Not much coral through the pass because current rips through. So the coral can’t grow like wind swept hills. Out side the pass there is loads of coral.
Just bought that same regulator! How do you like it?
I love it! Sometimes the din annoys me because it shreds my hands up but I love how it breaths
@ That’s awesome to hear! A little bit of reassurance that I picked a good one!
I would love to be trained from you guys
Always welcome to. We offer training during our trips around the world. Or at Sunreef in Mooloolaba.
I deploy mine as you displayed here; but unfortunately there are many instructors teaching it differently. Some suggest you inflate by mouth, that way your boincey doesn't change. Some teaches as filling from the air coming from the side of the regulator. Safe dives..👌🏻🤟🏻
Yeah very true. People do it different ways. Holly does it as in the video but Mark deploys his via his regulator exhaust valve.
One of the scariest things is when your 40 feet under diving a wreck and a new diver kicks the regulator out of your mouth.
True but thankfully you remember your training of how to recover your reg. Then avoid those divers like a bad cold 😂
Why are you closing the analyser with your thumb? Just curiosity 😊
Just habit
Imagine having a leg cramp while you are wearing one of this
OMG. NO fish life!! I was diving there in the mid &0’s and about 92. The Caribbean has been destroyed by cruise ships, big resorts and golf courses.
Some areas and dive sites are still full of life. It is mainly from polluting countries and industrial scale illegal fishing.
see you guys went with blue Bay Divers ~ outstanding dive at Julian Rocks.
Yeah first time we went with Sun Dive in the winter with Grey Nurse Sharks. Second time in Summer went with Blue Bay Divers. Prefer just getting out there, doing two dives and back. More efficient
Fantastic video - it brought back a lot of memories of when i did this dive 13 years ago! It might be time to go back. It is one of my favourite places I have dived. We did 2 days there and have so many amazing memories. The first descent when you are just SURROUNDED by sharks absolutely everywhere. We saw the aquarium the first time after doing the swim through of the cave. I still remember how the view took my breath away as we saw the exit of the cave just filled with sharks and even a sea turtle. I also remember swimming down to the entrance and there being wobbegongs in the trench and having to try not to kick them! Yep, definitely time to do this dive again!!
Yeah it is definitely time to go back. Honestly feel this is the best dive in Australia. We always recommend it to divers because as you said it truly takes your breathe away!
Hello
👋
Can we breathe from our nose in the goggles you are wearing. Also without a snorkel
You can breathe out through your nose, not in as it’s in a pocket
I’m diving there in 3 weeks 😍😍 was it very claustrophobic going through the chimneys??
Not at all! It’s super open inside and really cool! Enjoy it!
@@BlueHorizonDivingthanks 😆🦈❤️
You need to get off your knees, there is zero reasons to be on your knees in the water, pool or open water. tdi/sdi has some pretty good training videos that demonstrate the skills in neutral buoyancy and trim. It’s so important that we start training divers correctly for their safety and enjoyment. This is also a big segment of Dive Talk so check them out too. Have fun diving and be safe.
Great job on the video Mark. I never even heard of an Ornate Butterfly fish. We have a few different varieties of butterfly in Southeast Florida. I See Spot Fin and Four Eyed quite often and recently saw a Banded Butterfly which are pretty rare here.
Thank you mate! Yeah they are so cool the ornate butterflyfish. On the Great Barrier Reef we have over 50 different species of butterflyfish. Ah yes I remember the four eyed one quite well from all those years working in the Caribbean. 😊
And the video shows just that, well done
Thank you we try.
Amazing
It is a truly beautiful island
But where are the mantas?
There are so many around but we are not allowed to carry a GoPro when working. Ofc that is when I have mainly seen them.
Wow this is stunning!!!!
It is so good
Beautiful Dive.
It truly is ❤️
Hey man, great video! I started watching your videos a couple of years ago and am excited to say that I will learn to dive soon! Best wishes from Scotland.
That is so exciting. Hope you love it and let us know how you get on!
The mask is on very tight, much too tight
Hello There , You would consider NOT putting your finger through the spool , safety issue here , if your DSMB gets caught in a moving object (E.G : Boat/ %JetSki ) you would get injured for sure , instead holding it between your finger would be much more safer practice
Agreed! I was pinching between my thumb and pointer finger here
@BlueHorizonDiving Ok, I haven't paid enough attention then, your buoyancy is great, dsmb deployment was perfect, just shared my point of view :)
"and let a little bit of air out of your BCD" *GLUG GLUG GLUG GLUG GLUG* xD
Yep we are naturally negatively buoyant and don’t even have any weights on in this video.
Thats why your lungs rupture if you dont breathe when ascending
Yep!
