You say to use a pump sack to stop condensation getting into your mat, but you put your tent into the pump sack, which will be covered in condensation in the morning.

Good video with a nice simple kitlist. Impressive how you fit so much in those bags! Off to buy that Alplkit pump bag for my cloud base as I don't like having moisture in it either

Great video Jules - that bag of yours looked like the never ending pressie portal so much kit kept coming out of it!
Some great tips, especially not to stuff too tight so the corners can fill.
Loved the big pump bag - I have the cloud-base mat so a great tip.
I’m looking at doing the LEJOG next year, self supported bikepacking so looking forward to more informative videos.
Thank you for sharing your expertise.

Good tip for stuffing the rear pack with not putting the tent in its original bag. I'm quite new to that bit of kit and struggle to pack it.
Tried a bivvy bag the other night for first time - not for me! Will never complain about my little one person tent again.

Yep 1 person tents can be brilliant. I tried a bivi bag years ago. The weather was awful and when it stopped raining the midges came out- so it had to be zipped up. I felt like I was in a body bag and just couldn't sleep lol ! Have fun

Hiya Julie, I'm in the process of putting some kit together, to have a go at cycle camping myself (mid life crisis I think..haha); and because I'm researching bits and bob's on RUclips; several of your posts have serendipitously popped up on my feed.
I really like your down to earth, no frills approach; and though this post is full of interesting informatio; it's still infused with light hearted fun and a bit of a giggle!
I so enjoyed watching this post. Not only did I enjoy all of the content, and learned a few things; but I think I smiled the whole time. "How posh am I?" (For owning a Spork)Quote of the post..I laughed out loud!
It's really nice when you're just starting out doing something, to find someone as knowledgeable and experienced as yourself; who has made similar decisions regarding kit, and couldn't agree more with some of your ideas and preferences.
May I ask a couple of questions? (There's one question already). Is that a separate black gillét..(How posh am I using French?) or is it part of your cycling top? Is it just as a body warmer, or does it have any other practical functions?
You are truly inspiring and I am personally really encouraged by you to get my ar*e into gear and get out on my bike! And...I'm still smiling!
I'm really looking forward to watching some of your other posts now. Thanks so much for filming this.
    Take care Julie 😊

Its just a cheap gillét I've had for years- a very useful bit of kit. It folds up small; keeps the windchill off; fends off light rain... Get one lol

Thank you so much for your positive comments. Working, training and making videos often makes me feel a bit swamped, to be honest.
However I love doing this stuff and everynow and then someone, like your good self', says something fantastic and that drives me on. I guess we have to fight, to be the person we truly ought to be eh? So on that positive note go on and spends some money lol ! Do it , take the leap.... Have fun. Let me know how you get on.

@@JuliePhelanExplore You can tell that you love doing it; your sincerity and fun loving warmth oozes from your posts.
If it makes you feel swamped, then I am sorry about that; but you would never know, you seem made to be teaching, and in front of the camera. You can't fake that level of genuineness.
I don't even know you, and have only just discovered this great channel of yours; but you seem such a likeable person..and your posts make me smile!
As I said previously, Ive been putting some gear together for "getting out there"..and as I also said, watching your videos have truly energised and encouraged me. Your enthusiasm is inspiring. So glad I found your channel. Thanks Julie 😊

Thanks for video.... but I still can't fit everything in 😮 I've flip flopped between two medium panniers or large seat bag with two fork bags. But strapping poles to frame tubes works well. An extra water bottle position using handlebar clamp is handy.
