In this video, I will be discussing the new info we just learned about shiny hunting in Pokemon Let's Go! Pikachu & Eevee and how we were wrong about the shiny hunting mechanic! I will also be thoroughly explaining how the shiny hunting mechanic works in this game along with testing it out myself! I can't belive i was gaslighted this hard all these years lol. That means I've had some really good shiny luck in the game wow.
I know! I thought I had the worst luck possible going over 3,000 for clefairy thinking it was like 12x odds but it was really only 3x the odds! This completely changes how I’m gonna look at shiny hunting in this game!

You know what the sad part of this is? I did what we're suppose to do and still had the worst luck.... I went over odds for so many hunts and my chat kept telling me "You know you don't have to catch anymore after 31, right?"
Dang that sucks! I definitely think doing this method works best for rarer Pokémon and for Pokémon on routes that don’t get as many spawns. If you’re hunting in like mt moon or Viridian Forest, simply route resetting would probably be more efficient using the 1/1024 shiny odds!
Same here. I caught about 550 Pikachu's and zero of them were shiny.

@@immortaliron2475 that’s already been confirmed! Many people hunt for shadow shinies in colosseum and prove they stay shiny when purified! Idk how that rumor started up actually. You can watch many shiny hunters do this on RUclips!

That makes sense as to why I had better shiny luck than my friends. I always kept catching until the catch circle turned green to make sure I could get the shinies in a premier ball
lol nice! The only one I kept catching for (excluding the mankey in this video) was my first bulbasaur and I got it in like 70 encounters! I then decided to not do that anymore and to just run from bulbasaur and got the next one in like 1300 😅
This is huge for me. I’ve been working on a let’s go shiny living dex as well, going in order by dex, and currently my next one to hunt is hitmonchan. I’ve done so many hunts without this proper method. But this does explain how I managed to get two shiny doduo without even reaching a 31 combo

Wdym I've finished arceus and not a single shiny appeared throughout the whole game
I knew it! Idling always took me hours if not days to get a shiny spawn and it would be random spawning pokemon most times. Whenever I wasted like a hundred or so pokeballs my shiny would always appear.
Yeah this explains why I would phase so much going for a single shiny and why I would “go way over odds” most of the time!

But within 14 combos, got a shiny Drowzee which was EPIC 😁

That's how I'm doing with Bulbasaur right now. Just catch each Bulbasaur that spawns from this point on. Currently at 150

I don’t get how you get a combo of 31 for charmander if the it only spawns once you get a combo of 11 of another Pokémon?
@@Brian-yr5zr it can spawn with a lure and less than 11 combo. It’s far less common.
Do we know the numbers on the increasing encounter rate for species? You brought up Pikachu in Viridian Forest changing from 5%, but it'll make the balance very different, and that DOES depend on catch combo right?
It does depend on the catch combo! 11, 21, and 31 catch combos all increase the spawn rate of the Pokémon you are comboing for! However we do not know the numbers as of now. I think it’s similar to that of the knockout method in Sword & Shield where KOing an overworld Pokémon allows for a 50% chance the same species will spawn again. This would explain why rarer Pokémon like pikachu spawn a ton and more common Pokémon like meowth don’t seem to increase that much. This is all speculation though!
I was always told when Shiny hunting to use Great Balls because it's more efficient in terms of cost to capture.
I usually just catch shinies in whatever ball I want. But in let’s go specifically, if you get 100 of a certain species caught in your Dex, the catch rate becomes extremely high, making regular pokeballs extremely effective as well

I did it for bulbasaur at first and decided it wasn’t worth it to catch it but to run from it instead! I could’ve gotten bulbasaur so much faster if I kept catching!

Im late to the game and just started getting into shiny hunting. After 15 hours of gameplay and a catch combo of nearly 200 (it got reset once, I almost jumped) I finally got a shiny Charmander! I think om lucky that I have a coworker who was able to give me good advice, like this 😁

My partner kept her console on for 5 days, ran into 1000s of weedles and not one shiny. Chain of 31 is not accurate odds. This is with lures. So something isn't right.
I explain clearly how you get the odds. You need to keep catching them not simply run into them and run away. If you don’t catch a Pokémon to continue your chain, every spawn will be unboosted.

I hunted down a snorlax and did no where near 1000 and phased like 5 times at a static 31 combo.
Another edit: this means we only need to combo to 11 for our targets. Comboing to 11 will make the target spawn more.
I would still recommend comboing to 31 as 11, 21, and 31 all increase the spawn rate more than the previous number of combo

Oddly enough, I got a shiny diglet before I learned this by doing the same method. I just focused on one pokemon
I unintentionally did this with one of my bulbasaur I hunted for and got it really fast! Then I decided to run from them instead of catching them and it took me well over 1000 for another! 😅

Why would you not set the nature with the NPC in celadon before doing the shiny hunt??
Because not everyone cares about competitive, it’s fun to guess a random nature, even if I cared about competitive I’m certainly not doing it in Let’s go and I can always change its nature in a later Pokémon game anyway…
I got my Shiny Male Nidoran while watching this video. Had a 62 catch combo and was idling near Victory Road in the case the shiny rate also applied to Nidorino and Nidoking (the latter is actually one of my favorite shiny). Now I gotta apply that knowledge elsewhere. Thanks for the info !
That’s pretty lucky congrats! The combo odds only apply to what’s your comboing and only if you keep catching them! So the highest odds you had for those were 1/1024 if you weren’t continuing to catch them!

A Rattata on Route 1 while I was looking for a below Lvl 10 Dragonite ? Anyway, I think I know what to hunt next : Onix !
This explains everything, I remember when I was hunting way back when, I would get up to 31 combo, then idle, and I was puzzled as to why it was taking me at least 500+ encounters for a shiny. I remember going on to fourms to talk to people, because I had suspected that the odds were wrong. I was met with people that told me "the odds aren't wrong, your just personally unlucky" and "you aren't guaranteed a shiny, you may never find a shiny for the rest of your life." I ended up chocking it up to the shinies spawning offscreen where you can't see them, and them despawning.
Yeah I had a bunch of hunts go over 1000 and even one go over 3000 I thought I was just the unluckiest person ever for this game but it turns out I was actually getting pretty good luck and only my 3k hunt was unlucky
Okay so if I’m hunting a shiny pidgey and I have 31+ combo, I see the first spawn which has the better shiny odds, and I see the second spawn which has the 1028 odds, is there anything wrong with catching the second one? The next pidgey after that would also be the better odds right? So basically keep catching every pidgey until a shiny pops up?
It won’t hurt to catch every pidgey but if two of them spawn before you can catch one, there really isn’t a point of catching both as after catching the first one, the next spawn will have the boosted shiny odds. Catching both will still only increase the next spawns shiny odds only

But even without a shiny charm, with a lure it's 1/2048.25. I have encountered around 3000 Charmander having lures active and I have yet to see a single shiny in this game. Not just Charmander but a shiny Pokemon in general and here you are just randomly meeting a shiny Sandshrew in the exact same area where I have been hunting. People can't tell me I'm just unlucky. Thousands of pokemon have spawned in my peripheral with an active lure while hunting Charmander and not a single shiny Pokemon. This game is broken
I mean I went well over 3000 for a shiny at one point using shiny charm + lure. Also in a 1/8192 shiny odds game I went 54,000 for a single shiny. It happens and you can just be very unlucky
I should try and get let’s go eevee again because the game was extremely cute, rewatching let’s go videos makes me regret trading it away from different game to get it cheaper

So that 31+ catch combo results in increased odds for the next spawn of that particular species. Anything that comes after goes back down, right?
That is correct. That’s why you gotta keep catching the Pokémon you’re comboing for
So if I catch the species shiny can I keep the catch combo going to have the max odds for another shiny or does it reset after catching the shiny?
It does not reset after catching the shiny as it is the same Pokémon you’ve been catching for the combo! It’ll reset if you catch a shiny that wasn’t the Pokémon you were comboing for!
I can't believe these are alrwady becoming a trending type of video. Yes, about Sword and Shield. No, in Let's Go we were pretty bang on, easiest game to shiny hunt in period, short of like cute charm glitch Gen 4.
Speak for yourself. Most of the community did not know that this is how the catch combo worked. And if you’re saying that this way is the same as what we thought before then you need to rewatch and listen more carefully
Makes me question what’s more time consuming: catch combo or 1/1024 odds checking…. I’m trying the catch combo method on Snorlax right now. Not sure how I feel about catching potentially 500 Snorlax. Compared to refreshing Spawns after a 11+ combo(when rare spawns come out 50% of the time)
Yeah it’s definitely a situational method. I think for the rare spawns like snorlax it might be the better option because of the fact that you only can get one spawn at a time. Also once you catch 100 snorlax the catch rate should be insanely high so it shouldn’t be hard to catch them anymore!

Odds only affect the next spawn of only the Pokémon you are comboing
i find this hard to believe, ive done every shiny just standing around, and ive even had a number of times shinies of other species spawn on streak
With the amount of Pokémon spawning in odds are you’ll find shinies without raised odds. Also kinda hard to not believe the actual data and numbers as opposed to just rng and a hunch lol. We were all doing the combo wrong and just getting non boosted shinies but even with charm and lure to get a 1/1024 chance, you’ll still find shinies relatively quickly when they’re overworld.
Do you have a normal mewtwo by any chance? Can we trade if so so I can have a completed dex to shiny hunt mewtwo since I’ve already caught the birds except him. Recently got the game and I really want to shiny hunt mewtwo. I promise I’ll give him back right after we’re done trading but I don’t want to do it with a shiny mewtwo if you have one since it would make it look like I want to steal it
@@Idk-qc2hr currently right now in Pokémon go you can get mewtwo from raids. You can easily catch a mewtwo in go and then send it up into let’s go to complete your Dex. That’s what I did to fill out my let’s go dexes!

This can't be true...I was hunting Nidoran (m) and was at a 100+ combo and encountered 2 shinies...one was a Fearow and another was Nidoran (f). These were after the Nidoran (m) spawns after a new catch. I didn't have a shiny charm, either...
There’s such a thing as being lucky lol. I’ve gotten a 1/8192 shiny in 78 encounters that doesn’t mean those odds were wrong

I ran into a shiny Beedrill in let's go eevee.
It spawned on other side where I had to do a u-turn to get to it and it flew away before I can reach it.
Oh no! I was always worried that would happen when I hunted in Viridian Forest. Hopefully you can reclaim it soon!

On the plus side today in Pokemon Go I ran into a Shiny Meltan which I plan to transfer to Let's go Eevee once I evolve it.
Only need 70 more candy to evolve it first.
Does this change this hunting method's placement in your tier list? It seems a lot more 'valid' compared to similar methods, though it's obviously still much easier than full-odds gen 3 hunting.
I’d still say too easy as in reality hitting odds for it only takes a couple hours. But in general getting shinies in Let’s go I would also say too easy just because of how many Pokémon can spawn at once!

You can find all the shiny odds for this and any other method on Serebii.net they have a chart that shows all the let’s go shiny odds! Also the chart I show in the video should show you the rates as well 😉
i was hitmonlee hunting in victory road by catching a lot of machoke and when i caught like 4 machoke hang on why is that zubat green!?

That is completely up to you. Depends on how much you want the shiny you weren’t comboing for

Confused about one thing: can I catch combo Venonat for a shiny Squirtle, or does this mean my odds are better if the catch combo is a Squirtle as well?
For rare spawns like squirtle, if you catch combo ANYTHING to at least 11, it’ll increase the squirtle’s spawn from about a 1% to a 50% but it will only spawn one at a time. Only a catch combo of specifically squirtle will increase the shiny rate of squirtle though

This definitely helps a lot since I still don't have the Shiny Charm, I only need the trade-evolution Pokemon: Alakazam, Gengar, Golem & Machamp. I got all of them already in Sword, Shield, BDSP & Legends Arceus but can't convert them over to Pokemon Home to put in either Let's Go games which sucks.
Nice! I’d recommend getting the trade evolution Pokémon in Pokémon GO! You don’t need to trade them to evolve them and you can send them straight from GO to Let’s Go!
Hey, great movie! I have a question, since we have a chance of 1:1024 if we don't continue catching Pokemon with a 31+ combo, isn't it worth making a combo the "old way"? I'm a fan of afking, so to get 1:1024 (still a lot) just run lure+shiny charm and wait?
Yeah! In this video i said the catch combo is a pretty situational method. A lot of the time you would probably want to just use the 1/1024 odds!

@@ally2008yt if you want to go for eevee, it is normally a 5% encounter rate so it’s pretty rare. However if you catch even one of them to start a catch combo, they’ll start spawning significantly more often! They’ll max out their spawn rate at a 31 combo so if you do the combo method, you should hopefully get shiny eevee!

Is the combo even worth it? If a max lure and charm is 1/1024 and going through trouble of catching only brings in down to 1/250 ish why bother if your losing time? Just fly up and down the route.
It really depends on the Pokémon you go for. Lots of Pokémon are not worth comboing for but for Pokémon that are more rare, it’s definitely the way to go. Plus you have a much less chance of phasing if you do the combo method

I’ve done a lot of chains since making this video. I’ve had random catch increases at random times. But it always seems to max out at 100 total caught in the dex for me

What is the best way to shiny hunt Squirtle in Seafoam Islands?
I got an 11 combo of pidgey then just kept refreshing the area by using the ladders to get lots of squirtle to spawn. The other effective way would be to catch combo the squirtle so you are unlikely to get a different shiny!

trying to do a shiny professor oak challenge of eevee and this was MAD helpful. since im stuck before brock with only base odds i think the catch combo is pretty necessary and im glad i dont have to waste anymore time doing it wrong!

I knew I wasn't crazy. I went to like a 75 catch combo on Drowzee and got three in like two hours. When I did it the way everyone kept telling me was "right" I'd MAYBE get one shiny by idling after the 31st catch. Even when I posted on reddit that I got three Drowzee by continuing catching past 31, half the comments were telling me it was just a coincidence lol

Yeah! Apparently the odds of a wild legendary spawning is 1/2000 or 1/1000 with a lure! And catching it with a premier ball is pretty tough!
On 1 Pokémon I was in the 300 to 500 chain of a Pokémon but nothing. Another time I got a shiny psyduck with no chains at all didn’t have a lure nothing

I was combo catching Bulbasaur and I got a shiny caterpie then a shiny weedle a few minutes later and a metapod an hour later so I don’t get why my luck was better with other pokemon
Sometimes rng can be weird
So one time I was hunting for shiny vulpix. Found one, it ran away. Restarted the chain. Found a shiny jigglypuff. Caught it. Tried vulpix again. Caught it. This all happened in the span of 2 to 3 hours.
And another time I was hunting for dittos, doing this to boost the catch chance anyways, and a shiny rattata showed up. Caught it. STILL never found a shiny ditto after going through maybe 70 something? So that's wild after knowing this.
Yeah even with this method I ended up doing a few 500 chains before getting a shiny. But sometimes I’ll do like a chain of 15 and get it lol

I got a Shiny Shellder after my 1st encounter when my chain of 34 was broken.
The last Shellder in the catch combo ran away after 1 hour and I wanted to give up.
That’s too bad. I’ve wanted to give up after failing shinies too but it just makes it feel that much better when you reclaim it!
This still feels too good to be true im now at 496 nidoran without the shiny at 1/341 odds
The odds don’t mean you’re guaranteed to get the shiny at that number. It’s very common to go over odds for a hunt! Just keep at it and you’ll get it soon!
I just defied the logic and chained a psyduck, got the shiny instantly went to the next route, idled for 30 mins and got a drowzee. And on my 1st playthrough got double shinies using this method a tonne of times.

Ok what about nidoran male and nidoran female? I’m trying to get a shiny nidoran male but if a nidoran female spawns will it boost count towards the female?
If you combo nidoran female, it won’t affect the odds of nidoran male and vice versa

So the next mon of the same species that spawns has the boosted odds, but what if a different mon spawns in instead of the one you are hunting? Does the game ignore that mon and still give boosted odds when the mon you are hunting pops in after that?

@@ThedomiNATION Oh thank god, I was hunting for Gastly but this Chansey kept popping before any other Gastly. And it felt like it kept taking the boosted odds away. Glad that that is not the case though. :)

but what happens if you run from the pokemon? like what if you have a combo of 36 and run from the pokemon that you needed to catch does this break the shiny odds?
Nope. You just don’t get the increased odds for the spawns until you catch another one to continue your combo!
Wow its crazy because on my 3rd day playing this game i was leveling up my Pokémon in the diglett cave just catching a lot of them and boosting the combo. I wasn’t even thinking of shinies and i got like 2 of them lol. But I’ve been loooking for a game that i can just go on a long mission to kill time. I know getting a full shiny Des must take FOREVERRRR lol

If you don’t have a lure or shiny charm, it’s probably better to keep chaining (and also buy some lures!)

Hi there not sure if you will see this! But was wondering if the most "optimal way" to shiny hunt via catch combo is just to pop a lure at 11-31 on the next consecutive spawn coming in continuing to catch them all until 31 and then just reset and try again 🤩 plz lmk thanks! That way I don't waste lure!
Lures are pretty easy to come by but it does depend on what Pokémon you’re comboing for. If you’re comboing for a more rare Pokémon it would be wise to use a lure right away as lures increase the amount of Pokémon that can spawn in an are giving you a higher chance at finding the Pokémon you want to combo. On top of this, lures give you an extra shiny roll when they’re applied so you’ll have a higher shiny chance all the time!
Before watching this video I spent a entire day waiting for squirtle not one shiny then when I started catching again he showed up so keep catching
Good luck on the shiny! The starters are difficult to combo for until you hit an 11 combo. After that they’ll spawn every time!

Yeahhh I messed up yesterday, I wanted to try a hard grind , getting a shiny in the forest before even advancing (it’s my first time) and I closed my game down LOOSING my catch combo…😩😩
Oh no! At least it isn’t too hard to get a new catch combo in Viridian forest! Unless of course it’s bulbasaur 😬
