I HAD to like this cause I truly get a kick out of seeing the younger generation discovering how dope of an artist Prince was! Dude was beyond talented! Like you said “this generation could never” and I couldn’t agree with you more.💯
“Why they cut it off like that?” They didn’t want to overstimulate anyone, Ashley. You had stank-face the whole time! 😂. I feel so privileged to have seen him several times. The world produces this kind of phenomenon about once every hundred years or so. This man enriched our lives in so many ways. I would also recommend you check out “When 2 Are In Love.” R.I.P. Prince Rogers Nelson. ❤️🌹
You’re right! This song was ahead of its time and the groove is so funky. This video is from his concert film “Sign ‘O’ the Times”. This album is arguably his most critically acclaimed. I believe you previously reacted to “Adore” which is also on this album. “The ballad of Dorthy Parker” is another one of my personal favorites from the SOT album. Prince has so many gems to discover. IMHO he is the greatest artist… he’s a modern Mozart. Genius. Miss his presence here on earth. 💜 O(+>
Ugh I miss this era when a new Prince album dropped and every song was so unique I started listening to Prince when I was 11 years old when 1999 came out. I was hooked from then on. My favorite songs were always the ones that weren’t conventional mainstream pop sounding. He was so talented, he understood human sexuality and could hold the line between temptation and mystery perfectly. Todays artist don’t understand this, everything is just in your face, it’s too much and no longer sexy. Prince just knew… plus he wrote poetry in music form. From the sound to the lyrics to his voice. But there was always a sense of true spirituality too. It normalized the way humans struggle with sex and being spiritual. Today we’ve lost that and just gave into what feels good. Prince struck a balance which made you think. I’m very thankful he wove God into his music in a way that always helped me to stay connected to Holy Spirit and not just the pleasures of the world.
He definitely weaved traits of the human experience that many people even today can’t even fathom coexisting. He showed us what a truly enlightened point of view can look like and the beauty that it can create. Without passion there is no life, and he more than anyone infused us with it.
Great comments. People forget that God created man and woman, and that he created sex. He wants it to be in a God appointed relationship for them to enjoy in order to bless their spiritual union so it's about more than just the act. Prince understood this. So many ministers need to teach about this revelation and don't.
That's my mom cat glover. There both legends. My mom was and still is very good at writing poetry. Her and prince made a good team. I'll be sure to let her know. About all these comments. She'll be do happy. Thanks for being a fan of both of them
@renaissancewoman100 thank you so much for supporting her threw out her career ill be sure to let her know. And actually the dance partner your talking about. Is Pat her best friend
Prince was soooo “clever.” He played on our intelligence from all levels and directions. I’m just 3 years older than he was and when he first started out we all thought he was “gay.” Man did he play on that. You could not deny his music because it was so different and new. When that album first came out, it’s solidified our minds and thinking yes he’s finally come out. Then you buy the album specifically for that song and you want to hear what it is that he’s gonna say, then he relays it to us all and he’s pretending or wish to be his girlfriend best friend. Man that is total genius, he played us all. That’s when you really knew that this guy was a pure Mozart.
Love “Damn U” ! Some other good ones to react to are “Insatiable” , “Scandalous” , “Willing and Able”, “Money Don’t Matter tonight” .. OMG there are so many good gems!
This is from a concert movie, Sign ’O The Times, arguably one of the best concert movies of all time. A must-see. But yeah, this song is unbelievable, surely among his very best. Written for his girl at the time, Susannah Melvoin, his guitarist Wendy Melvoin’s twin sister.
Not only do I love the name Ashley, I your facial expressions while listening to this "9th wonder of the world" called Prince! I've seen women fall out in concert because of his performance, lol. Keep up the great work.
How can you NOT be a PRINCE FAN! Watch the movie, if you haven't already. You'll love it. It is actually true. Just lets you know a little about how he grew up. He does come a family of singers & instrumentalist. What can I say???!!! R.I.P. Prince. We lost a good one!!!
Lmao your reaction is priceless! Swear I had the same reactions. A few days ago I heard my dad blasting this song on his speaker and I immediately fell in love with it & Prince! What a musical genius!
I love the content ❤️ if I could offer a little advise it would be to first listen to the studio version first so you can get the pure essence of the song. Sometimes the live take liberties with the song. Keep jammin Queen!
fun fact...this song was originally supposed to be released as prince's female alter ego, camille, hence the female perspective (girlfriend) and the pitched up voice on the album version (not this live version). the original unreleased version is slightly different, too.
TLC covered this track on their Crazy Sexy Cool album in 1994, 6 years after he released it on Sign O' The Times double album in 1988. A lot of TLC fans didn't know it was written and recorded by Prince. He covered so many genres on every album he released, that many casual fans and Black consumers without broad music taste and expecting straight R&B, weren't really into multi genres of music stopped buying his albums after Purple Rain. Meanwhile, every album he dropped had several gems on them.
Just stumbled upon Ur reaction, @TheOfficialAshleyReacts, and Ur face priceless! 🥰 I am fortunate to have seen Prince (and the Revolution) live in the Netherlands during the Sign o' the Times Tour & the Lovesexy Tour. The Sign o' the Times concert is the best live performance I've ever witnessed. Thank U for keeping Prince's music alive, Ashley 🙏🏼 And good luck with U channel 💜
If you dug this performance, you must check out the 'Housequake' video from this same 'Sign O' the Times' concert. Some of the best dance moves you'll ever see in a live performance
Love your new setup and that you got that Purple Rain item before you ever realized his genius and how you’d be diving into it. He was way before his time. I remember how unique this song was and how my teenage self listened to it over and over again. Miss him so much and am loving watching you discover his magic 💜
Prince, was always on point with his songs, his music hit different my older sister LOVED PRINCE and she played all his stuff the me. But if you go down prince rabbit hole to react just a warning to you 85% of his music is real spicy. If I'm not mistaking Prince he started the warning label of explicit language on the album.
What can I say when it comes to Prince? Well, damn is all I got. He definitely was a performer and we were just along for the ride. Thanks for going on the Prince journey...just a warning, he could be real spicy. Great reaction.
I just love your reactions to what we grew up on, thanks for broadening your horizons, and listening to a different time in this journey, wish you were there, it can't be explained, it had to be experienced, but thanks for your insight queen, it's nice to see someone not from our Era give us a listen, because this so called music today is not it, and to see them in person was a whole different treat in itself, thanks again, and continued success to you, peace and love.
Ash, I LOOOOVE your reactions. I truly appreciate your authenticity, even though some songs you may not like. But nevertheless I love your appreciation for the old school. I feel like you were raised by your grandma....your soul is SO old 😉!!! This actually my favorite prince song, and ONLY grown folks will understand. Keep doing your thing young lady!!
Yep, digging your new reaction videos "set up situation," Ashley! 😁 I'm a fairly new sub and had already been enjoying the genuiness of your reaction videos (they give the feeling as if we were sitting there having a conversation with you; one sided of course, lol). Now, with your new "touches"... your entire reaction vibe is lit, and more "you," if that makes sense. I enjoyed your reaction to this Prince performance... keep doing your thing!
I saw Prince live in concert in Jackson Mississippi 1997. I screamed like a little girl (I was a married heterosexual male 26 years of age) and could not talk the next day. I kept telling myself I would see Prince again before I die. I can't finish this...
If you ain't feeling this there's something wrong with your ears. I think you hit the nail right on the head, many of his friends believe he was way ahead of the times this being 1987. This was before your time but not mine, I grew up right in the thick of Prince's most popular music. Purple Rain and Sign o' The Times are widely considered his best two albums of all time. Nice reaction and welcome to the dawn Liv4luv 0(+->
I miss Prince, Im disappointed I didn't get a funeral, I wanted closure but he was a Jehovah's Witnesses. I looked it up Aretha Franklin gave us 9 hour's and she is from Detroit her body was at African American Museum in Detroit. Prince didn't have to make it long but give his fans something.
What! how do i keep getting trapped in the Prince time machine? it happens over and over and over again and i have (FUN) every single time, i wonder if this is what Prince imagined.
Prince wrote this song about his ex-fiancee Susannah (Wendy's twin sister) talking to her (he talked through his music) about her close relationship with her sister. She said he was always busy & wanted her to be available when he was done but she said she couldn't live like that and broke up with him.
Prince make me hold my breath! Unconsciously. He is so beautiful and sexy! This is cut from the Sign 'O the Times movie. It us a must see to get the full experience.
Prince was truly one of the absolute greatest artists EVER. Great video.
One of the best concerts you would have ever seen....Truly❤
I HAD to like this cause I truly get a kick out of seeing the younger generation discovering how dope of an artist Prince was! Dude was beyond talented! Like you said “this generation could never” and I couldn’t agree with you more.💯
Prince was HIM! 💜
THE TRUTH THE WHOLE TRUTH & NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH!!!!!🎤🎤🎤🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯🤎🤎🤎
Mommy there goes that man!!!😂
Was him, her, they, it, everyone...PRINCE was so cold they just started referring to him as the artist!
He absolutely was! Facts on Facts
“Why they cut it off like that?”

The GREATEST THAT EVER DID IT!
As a guy, this is my favorite Prince song. So smooth
She got that “Gatddamn that’s funky” face. I love it. 😁😁😁
Prince made you think with the lyrics of his songs... There will never be another....

Best version of this song
My all time FAVORITE artist. PRINCE...long live the king.

You also see to listen to Prince "Damn U" 🔥🔥🔥
Love “Damn U” ! Some other good ones to react to are “Insatiable” , “Scandalous” , “Willing and Able”, “Money Don’t Matter tonight” .. OMG there are so many good gems!
One of his greater composed songs !!!

I call him maestro. The very best to ever do it.
Just a legend! You know it’s a jam when you can’t break the “stank face” the whole time. What an incredible talent. Sorely missed. ✌️❤️
Not only do I love the name Ashley, I your facial expressions while listening to this "9th wonder of the world" called Prince! I've seen women fall out in concert because of his performance, lol. Keep up the great work.
It's fun to see someone your age appreciating what many like myself got to enjoy in real time.
He was, and remains to this day, ALL THAT!
I saw him in concert in 1984. To this day it is still the best concert I've seen.
You need to see Prince Superbowl Halftime show! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I saw Prince a bunch of times. Each one was a different experience. He was a once in a lifetime artist.
This and “sometimes it snows in April” are my favorite prince songs!!!
Lmao your reaction is priceless! Swear I had the same reactions.
A few days ago I heard my dad blasting this song on his speaker and I immediately fell in love with it & Prince! What a musical genius!
Watching Purple Rain is a must.
One of the best songs ever written and released.
Also one of Beyoncé's and Alicia Key' s greatest inspirationsand fav songs together with Adore u
Insatiable
I love the content ❤️ if I could offer a little advise it would be to first listen to the studio version first so you can get the pure essence of the song. Sometimes the live take liberties with the song. Keep jammin Queen!
I wholeheartedly agree with listening to the studio version first. I was just thinking that, great advice!
I feel you but as a lifelong P fan I feel the arrangement is superior to the album. Miko's guitar part! Levi's bass arpeggio! Took it up a notch!
The ULTIMATE love song!
Loved your reaction! I highly recommend you check out his amazing 1985 performance of "America". It is phenomenal.
And His girl Sheila E. On drumbs..come on!😊❤
Iconic artist!❤ Legendary music. RIP Prince Roger Nelson!🫡💐👑
The most sinsear lovesong of all time..he was not ahead of his time he was in his own time
Been a Prince fan since 78' and can truly respect and appreciate your genuine reaction! Your journey will be a fantastic one! 💜
Saw him live 5 times. Every concert totally different. Every concert totally brilliant!
fun fact...this song was originally supposed to be released as prince's female alter ego, camille, hence the female perspective (girlfriend) and the pitched up voice on the album version (not this live version). the original unreleased version is slightly different, too.
This song is a Masterpiece. Prince was Gift from God to us.

Your expression throughout this video, says it all ,Prince was a Baaad Man. 😮

Prince was often ahead of his time in expressing both sides of the male/female coin -- so SEXY.
What can I say when it comes to Prince? Well, damn is all I got. He definitely was a performer and we were just along for the ride. Thanks for going on the Prince journey...just a warning, he could be real spicy. Great reaction.
Prince live was simply an Experience
There are others you should listen to BEFORE you get to "INTERNATIONAL LOVER"...which has always got the juices flowing.😘😋😋😋😍😍😍
Your Too Funky Face Game is STRONG. Right on Sister

I feel like you were raised by your grandma....your soul is SO old 😉!!! This actually my favorite prince song, and ONLY grown folks will understand. Keep doing your thing young lady!!
This is not old school music. It’s called real music.
Fun fact: At the height of Eddie Murphy's career he stated that Prince was the only other celebrity that he would trade careers with.
I LOVE THAT SHE GOT THAT STANK FACE!!!!!!! IT'S SOOO FUNKY!!!!!
✨💜✨ One song I never get tired of.👌🏽😎

Naw when this song came out We knew exactly what it was. I’ll just say “It’s Timeless” It hits today like it did then!
I miss Prince, Im disappointed I didn't get a funeral, I wanted closure but he was a Jehovah's Witnesses. I looked it up Aretha Franklin gave us 9 hour's and she is from Detroit her body was at African American Museum in Detroit. Prince didn't have to make it long but give his fans something.
rip cat you wrote music history in this ...
What! how do i keep getting trapped in the Prince time machine? it happens over and over and over again and i have (FUN) every single time, i wonder if this is what Prince imagined.
Thats live version, now listen to studio version.Prince was so good in concert he sounded so good, great singer
Your groove area is the bomb !
Prince wrote this song about his ex-fiancee Susannah (Wendy's twin sister) talking to her (he talked through his music) about her close relationship with her sister. She said he was always busy & wanted her to be available when he was done but she said she couldn't live like that and broke up with him.
Another great love concept song that has to be talked about is Rick James - Mary Jane
Prince era un grande
Prince make me hold my breath! Unconsciously. He is so beautiful and sexy! This is cut from the Sign 'O the Times movie. It us a must see to get the full experience.
