I enjoyed you demonstrating the various machines. I recommend you bag the machines even when just practicing, as breaking equipment down, reducing cross contamination, is a skill that requires practice, so might as well practice it as well. Additionally, your depth was inconsistent in general, which translated to weaker lines when they would have been more powerful at proper depth, although, I still extracted a LOT of great information from your demonstration. From the demo, the Hawink MX1 seemed to offer the most consistent resonance, which translates into needle chatter. I would recommend practicing stretching the skin, even if it is fake skin. The primary reason people have difficulty tattooing is from a lack of stretching,... even those with a lot of skill and experience, fatigue and get lazy with their stretching techniques. A good stretch is created from left thumb and palm, left index and middle finger, and third point from tattoo hand outside palm. This creates a triangle of points that prevent the skin from bouncing. A 2 point stretch will actually make the skin taunt, preventing the punctures from vacuuming the ink into the skin when the needle leaves. Voltage generally translates to higher rpm speeds only. Higher speeds actually can work against you by increasing needle variations causing jagged lines even when hand motions are smooth. If you notice the needles spitting ink, its due to too high of a machine speed and your needles are jumping around. You can also get smoother lines from moving your arm, not your hand. so lock the wrist and make the move come from elbow and shoulder. Just a few pointers for ya, take em or leave em. Though I made some critiques, I think the demo was very effective and did offer the machine info I was searching for, so thank you.

@@FloatyTattoo I don't have a channel, i post some stuff on instagram: @naterogersart But its been a while. Im just getting back into tattooing, and learning as much as i can about various pen style machines. the industry changes so quickly! I see you do have a lot of control in your hand control, so I expect learning to tattoo wont be a problem. You'll pick it up with some practice. Took me about 2 years to really feel what was going on with various skin types and machines. Your off to a great start! Once machines are learned and you can get ink in, then its all about the art, producing amazing artwork. Even if the tattoo isn't all that perfect, if the artwork is incredible, the tattoo can always be cleaned up a bit to result in an incredible tattoo. If the artwork isn't that great, then even if the tattoo is executed flawlessly, the tattoo will only look OK, because the visual impact is limited by the artistic interpretation.

My top recommendation right now for getting started is the InkClaw C-charged battery (inkclaw.com use code FloatyLady for 15% off), which you can also find rebranded on Amazon as the Dragonhawk B1, although it is not the updated version. For a wired power supply the BRONC on amazon is decent to get started with. For cartridges I like Rhein for budget friendly or Black Claw for top of the line.
Dagger x is sold out some places and $350 2021 price. I don’t think it’s fair to the other pens. Someone needs to go q2 vs mast tour pro on real skin compression
Check out my instagram i only use a Q2, so far so good! Color packs, lines, soft shades it’s awesome! I didn’t buy it from amazon tho i got it from CNC itself 👍
Hey there. I wanted to check out that dagger plus I've been having issues with my cnc q2 and I'm out of warranty. Where did you get yours? I really want the bishop shader wand but I don't have that kind of money...

The one you refer to as the spinny flashlight needs a pre start- power supply or you can bump your voltage up to start it and then back your voltage back down
@@FloatyTattoo also just some constructive criticism. At some point you will need to get into a shop with professionals. it will help you grow and you will learn things that wouldn't be possible by teaching yourself. But keep up the practice you can get to your goals. but at some point you will have to learn from some professionals. And practice, practice, practice.
I love that you want to teach us, but the lines are scratchy because of how you're holding the machine! Try holding it like a rock instead of a pen. And using your shoulder. Never turn up the voltage to get the line.
How long does the MAST battery life last on one charge?? I’ve Skaggs been faithful to the OG guns and now I’m looking at the MUMMY R1 … is rotary really better than the OG in most cases or are there better og style guns out there?
The Mast battery life is great, 8-10 hours no problem on a full charge. Rotary is better in many cases, biggest advantages that I see are in ergonomics and convenience, much less vibration (less risk for carpal tunnel and tendinitis) and better weight distribution. The convenience of using cartridges instead of Needle on Bar is great. Lining is where it gets a little tricky to be able to line as fast as you can with a coil because of time the needle spends in the skin on each stroke, or needle dwell time. Check out my video on the Neuma 4 to learn more if you want to see a rotary machine that let's you line as fast as with coil machines while also giving better healing times from my observations.
@@FloatyTattoo .... thank you thats great info ill def check that out. seems a rotary would be good for shading easier than for straight fast lines but ill check tat out thanks again.

hello, my name is angel, and i really enjoyed this video i use to make tattoos a really long ago but now days things seems to be way different so i want to coming back and start with tattooing again so my question is which of this amazon Rotary machines do you recommends me to by base on quality and price. cuz im not in the states right now i'm in Dominican Republic. so want to open my shop next year if God allows me to.
Hi Angel, welcome! So I have a few suggestions for newer machines than the ones which are in this video, if you are looking to buy the best machine for the least money I've tried, it is the Mast Saber, which is very similar to the Archer from this video but I like the grip and buttons on it better, it feels nicer in my hand. If you are willing to spend a bit more and invest in a machine which will last you a bit longer I would get the CNC-X-WE (or WE-Plus when they comeback in stock) if you are into Black and Grey Realism work, or if you do more traditional work with bold lines and color I recommend the Rhein 'Red Diamond' or 'Lipstick' Tattoo Pen, it has a very hard hitting motor that can drive larger needle groupings no problem. I will be doing a comparison video on these machines sometime soon. I have reveiws on all of these machines which you can find in my Reviews playlist.
Thank you so much for your help I really appreciate it and Imma Wachtel it out on Amazon to compare prices and then I'll let you know which I'll be buying 😉. Thanks alot I love all your videos.

@@mauriciorestrepo3906 The second one, Mast Archer I would recommend of the first two, seems to run a bit stronger, with less vibration, and is the best bang for your buck.
Do you tell this to clients? “Hey by the way I don’t actually care about how your tattoo turns out or the fact that it’s permanent and painful for you so I’m just buying the cheapest junk I can find I hope that’s ok with you “
I use a foot pedal for my wired machines. The wireless ones have buttons. I use a Muso Toku power supply and can use the push button too but I prefer the foot switch.
Actually a newer pen (MAST Flip) I have done a review on here ruclips.net/video/Ru6UgYXiKCs/видео.html is my new favorite in this price range. Here is a test with it on human skin ruclips.net/video/lY8RQWoa7o8/видео.html
the virbration on almost any pen is a fraction of any coil, and more for noise. So for the Q2, both are null points. IMO. And you should not be running your machine on fake skin on a strait table. it's incredibly hard on the machines as most of those are direct drive, and worse for the maxxon. You should at the least have a towel down under it or better yet, mimic actually tattooing and put in on your leg. You're teaching bad habits all around in not wrapping as well.
Why do you think it's incredibly hard on the machines to run them on a straight table, what is the difference? What is the reasoning there? Not sure why it would be worse for the maxxon, it's just a motor brand. I don't usually tattoo people who are sitting on my leg so not sure how that is supposed to help. This is a product demonstration and comparison video where the machines are not being used on a person so wrapping isn't really an issue. Seems like you are grasping pretty hard here to make criticisms. What are your real motivations?
my 2 cents: doing a proper apprenticeship is important in avoiding teaching yourself bad tattooing habits that are difficult to unlearn. machine info was good, thanks.
Back in the late 80's I tried to get someone to teach me and I got laughed at. I was told to go to prison. LOL I finally got a lady with 20 years experience to hire me because of my art skills and drawings. I picked up everything I needed to tattoo in a week and boogied. It isn't rocket science. Most of the people today offering apprenticeships are just exploiting people and no better tattooists than many who are self taught.
If you don’t have time to be an apprentice, you shouldn’t be a tattooed period. Then you don’t have the time to be a good artist and improve and actually learn the correct way.
I am working on silicone not people here, I use different voltages for each, and to each their own really, this machine is rated to go up to 10v, really just depends on the hand speed you are comfortable with.
@@scottcarlson3475 Practice is practice. If you're getting in to habits while practicing, you're going to take them with you to the field. Just saying. I've grown and adjusted since then, now line around 8-9 depending on stroke. I only hit ten with a 3mm and below and I work fast.
The q2 is not anything like that That's a bad machine mine is basically a db over whispering air for sound and barely vibrates more then a sharpie. Yea you just got a bad 1 unfortunately
U can contact amazon alone and get another sent. I have a cnc q2 and i use it quite frequently. Guys at the shop were really getting a good one off on me for getting it but after seeing some work put out with it another artist got one and it turned into one of his go toos.
There’s so much to criticize in this video that I don’t even know where to start but it didn’t bother me because I understand your new to this and it was helpful too those that are shopping for machines on a budget although I would never get one of these have plenty of real brand name machines like bishop and whatnot I have used some of these machines u showed here and they did run well for the price I don’t know about longevity though but kudos on the video keep it going don’t let no one hinder your tattooing goals As you further your career just come back to this video and your gonna see what you’ve done wrong and laugh rookie mistakes all that it is I sure do laugh at old pictures and videos of my early days of tattooing no1 is ever good or do the right steps in the beginning Btw the only thing that truly did bother me about the video was those hideous ginormous gloves girl cmon now lol seriously though I’ll give u one tip wearing smaller gloves gives your hand more fatigue during the session less stress in your hand Since the glove is smaller it compress your hand into a ball more making it easier to grip the machine using less force to keep it balled up like that with the machine in hand
I appreciate your honesty and constructive criticism. The gloves are because of supply chain issues, I ordered small nitrile gloves and was sent these generic vinyl gloves. I have seen another video about wearing them tighter and doubling up for ergonomic reasons as you have mentioned. Just started trying it out and it does seem to work well in helping to hold the machine. Thanks again for taking the time to come and comment in such detail.
@@FloatyTattoo no problem and I was just messing with you about the gloves as long as the job gets done right and clean who cares how they fit your hand or how funny they look on your small hand lol but I totally get it we’re in the middle of a pandemic right now and supplies are limited it was hard to buy in bulk for the shop had to go out to so many places to get enough for all of us here as my supplier would only allow me to buy 2 boxes per order but none the less keep it going with tattooing it’s the best decision in life I ever made
Did u just use straight green soap without diluting it ?? 🤔 SMH!!!it wasn't your V it was your hand positioning when your pulling lines! just because it's called a tattoo pen doesn't mean u use it like a pen !!!
There’s a reason apprenticships are so expensive. It’s a shame anyone can go buy cheap Chinese junk off Amazon and then all the sudden be “a tattoo artist”. It’s like going to a surgeon but instead of sterilized scalpels he has a dirty butter knife. If your not a licensed professional in a licensed shop you shouldn’t be posting this crap acting like you know what your doing. Because we are the ones who end up getting stuck fixing all this kitchen magician scratcher garbage
There is a story of Ansel Adams meeting Ernest Hemingway that goes something like this Ernest Hemingway: "You take the most amazing photographs I've ever seen! What sort of camera do you use?" Ansel Adams: "You write the most amazing stories. What sort of typewriter do you use?" It's not the machine that makes the Artist. Take a look at what Lil B does with a machine he made from scrapyard parts. ruclips.net/video/nWCQt0LI6mc/видео.html Some people learn best from an apprenticeship, some are better at teaching themselves, and many do best with a bit of both. It's all about what learning style fits you best. You may have missed the part of the video where I say that I am just practicing on fake skin with these machines. ruclips.net/video/X5lNK6HQ-Xk/видео.html Thanks for watching and taking the time to share your honest feedback.
I think you need to chill a little bit... Most of the tattoo artists start practicing at home and then with friends. You don't pay for apprenticeship, you get a position in a studio if you have a solid portfolio. If you're lucky and persistent. This video is obviously just a small guide for beginners and someone who would like to start in the tattoo's world. Yes, she is still has a lot to learn herself, but she just posted a review about the pens, this is not a tatt masterclass. A couple of those pens are actually not that bad (cnc q2 and Archer),they're definitely not a £500 Cheyenne pen, but they do a decent job without messing up your skin as other Amazon's crap. So this is helpful for people who has no clue and they were thinking to buy the cheapest pen on eBay. This is what RUclips was created for, to help people out and share your knowledge/opinion. A lot of tattoo artists are too arrogant to share their experience to help others, but they're the first ones to come after people like her that are trying to help out...
Wow what a an arrogant thing to say, aswell a just being a duck move on your part, you do know some of the best tattooist in the world are self taught right? Not to mention the fact that you watched this video, so what was the reason if you that good why you watching a beginners guide to machines? Ever heard the praise over compensating for something. Yeah that comes to mind....
If you pay attention at all to my channel I am self taught, everything I have done tattoo wise is posted here. Who taught you to tattoo? What does your work look like that makes you qualified to criticize?
bad thing about you you're not a pro artist...it means a lot with using those gloves with large size lol... i think you should learn a lot more...,😂😂😂😂😂

I will be doing a comparison video one some newer machines soon. Stay tuned!
@@FloatyTattoo wow.. thankss a lot. Im from philippines. Im starting tattoing by next month. Looking for best machine for begginers😅
@@jayreinoso3104 Welcome! I have a new machine coming in this week that may be my new pick for beginners. Video should be out next week.
do you use a foot pedal with these rotary pens ? or are they just running constantly ?
I use a foot pedal for my wired machines. The wireless ones have buttons. I use a Muso Toku power supply and can use the push button too but I prefer the foot switch.
Hmm😍 some eye candy for a change, had enough of all these guys with long beirds😂
Thank you 🙏
@@FloatyTattoo no worries, shame I don’t have a photo as we could go Nando’s you little stunner
which one is better?
Actually a newer pen (MAST Flip) I have done a review on here ruclips.net/video/Ru6UgYXiKCs/видео.html is my new favorite in this price range. Here is a test with it on human skin ruclips.net/video/lY8RQWoa7o8/видео.html
I want the hawken
This video is pretty old, there are much better machines out now. My top 2 are Dragonhawk fold Pro 2024 and the Yilong F8.
@@FloatyTattoo thank you I’m looking at a dragon hawk mast pro tour I think for 65$
I’ll look into those
So can you use these on people?
Yes, with proper safety training these can be used on people.
the virbration on almost any pen is a fraction of any coil, and more for noise.
Good to know, I just don't have the time to do one so I will have to work a bit harder. Thanks for sharing!!
Then you don’t have the time to be a good artist and improve and actually learn the correct way.
i like your rotary machine mam.. 😍😍😍
Thank you 😊
Awesome
Thank you 🙏
Your an amazing soul! 👏
Wow, thank you!
You use too many volts, you can make a line with 5 volts,no matter what powerful the engine is.
Thank you, I have figured that out and did a video on high voltage vs low voltage lining.
yeah was thinking the same thing voltage is way too high you could even drop it down to a 4.8 and get some solid lines
😁 why did you get such big gloves?!
^ Comment for algorithm + 👍 'd
#Paxus Rating: ☆☆☆
Lol, and you're lining at ten???? You're going to tear people up!!! I line at 6 with that machine (Q2)
I am working on silicone not people here, I use different voltages for each, and to each their own really, this machine is rated to go up to 10v, really just depends on the hand speed you are comfortable with.
Probably why it’s so noisy
Yea she's using fake skin lol
@@scottcarlson3475 Practice is practice. If you're getting in to habits while practicing, you're going to take them with you to the field. Just saying. I've grown and adjusted since then, now line around 8-9 depending on stroke. I only hit ten with a 3mm and below and I work fast.
@@DanWilson420 I understand what your saying but he's just doing it as a demonstration
The q2 is not anything like that That's a bad machine mine is basically a db over whispering air for sound and barely vibrates more then a sharpie. Yea you just got a bad 1 unfortunately
I had heard and seen such good things about it, looks like I got a bad one.
U can contact amazon alone and get another sent. I have a cnc q2 and i use it quite frequently. Guys at the shop were really getting a good one off on me for getting it but after seeing some work put out with it another artist got one and it turned into one of his go toos.
That broad had it cranked at like 12 volts lol
There’s so much to criticize in this video that I don’t even know where to start but it didn’t bother me because I understand your new to this and it was helpful too those that are shopping for machines on a budget although I would never get one of these have plenty of real brand name machines like bishop and whatnot I have used some of these machines u showed here and they did run well for the price I don’t know about longevity though but kudos on the video keep it going don’t let no one hinder your tattooing goals
As you further your career just come back to this video and your gonna see what you’ve done wrong and laugh rookie mistakes all that it is I sure do laugh at old pictures and videos of my early days of tattooing no1 is ever good or do the right steps in the beginning
Btw the only thing that truly did bother me about the video was those hideous ginormous gloves girl cmon now lol seriously though I’ll give u one tip wearing smaller gloves gives your hand more fatigue during the session less stress in your hand Since the glove is smaller it compress your hand into a ball more making it easier to grip the machine using less force to keep it balled up like that with the machine in hand
@@FloatyTattoo no problem and I was just messing with you about the gloves as long as the job gets done right and clean who cares how they fit your hand or how funny they look on your small hand lol but I totally get it we’re in the middle of a pandemic right now and supplies are limited it was hard to buy in bulk for the shop had to go out to so many places to get enough for all of us here as my supplier would only allow me to buy 2 boxes per order but none the less keep it going with tattooing it’s the best decision in life I ever made
Take a veggie rubber band and place on wrists, holds the gloves on a bit better.
❤❤❤🙏
And... you look like Anne Hathaway
Wow! Thank you so much!
So you don’t respect tattooing enough to get an apprenticeship? You’d rather do it half assed.
Please elaborate on how it is disrespectful to be an autodidact? Also please present evidence in how I am doing things “Half assed”.
where I can buy an artificial skin like yours
Reelskin, you can get it on amazon or direct from their website.
Wtf your cat dissappeared
😂
Did u just use straight green soap without diluting it ?? 🤔 SMH!!!it wasn't your V it was your hand positioning when your pulling lines! just because it's called a tattoo pen doesn't mean u use it like a pen !!!
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment :)
The second u called it a gun made me click out of this
Lol, funny trolling, I literally never call it a gun 🤷♀️
she is a freaky person. Lol
And that cheap cartridge sounds like death
I think most of the rattling noise is from the cartridge.
You have no idea wat ur doin
Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave such a well thought out comment.
@@FloatyTattoo I only state facts sir
@@hoole1926 fool dont u see lady in her name description??
There’s a reason apprenticships are so expensive. It’s a shame anyone can go buy cheap Chinese junk off Amazon and then all the sudden be “a tattoo artist”. It’s like going to a surgeon but instead of sterilized scalpels he has a dirty butter knife. If your not a licensed professional in a licensed shop you shouldn’t be posting this crap acting like you know what your doing. Because we are the ones who end up getting stuck fixing all this kitchen magician scratcher garbage
There is a story of Ansel Adams meeting Ernest Hemingway that goes something like this
Ernest Hemingway: "You take the most amazing photographs I've ever seen! What sort of camera do you use?"
Ansel Adams: "You write the most amazing stories. What sort of typewriter do you use?"
It's not the machine that makes the Artist. Take a look at what Lil B does with a machine he made from scrapyard parts. ruclips.net/video/nWCQt0LI6mc/видео.html
Some people learn best from an apprenticeship, some are better at teaching themselves, and many do best with a bit of both. It's all about what learning style fits you best.
You may have missed the part of the video where I say that I am just practicing on fake skin with these machines. ruclips.net/video/X5lNK6HQ-Xk/видео.html
Thanks for watching and taking the time to share your honest feedback.
You're* assuming
Sounds like job security to me
Who taught you how to tattoo?? So much wrong here.
If you pay attention at all to my channel I am self taught, everything I have done tattoo wise is posted here. Who taught you to tattoo? What does your work look like that makes you qualified to criticize?
Hello Dan, what kind of bad things? I'm self taught too and I would like to know to not do it, thanks :)
She did great for teaching herself
bad thing about you you're not a pro artist...it means a lot with using those gloves with large size lol... i think you should learn a lot more...,😂😂😂😂😂
I appreciate your well thought out constructive criticism. 🙏
What does gloves have to do with being a artist???
