the driving by all the drivers was so clean and when you have clean drivers in your lobby you know you can make moves like that while being respectful enough
So often you've been getting screwed over by incompetent drivers in league races that you could've easily won or got a good chunk of points in... finally a place where clean drivers like yourself can compete and surprise surprise, the quality of racing here is miles clear of F1 22...

i remember when i started in iracing, i asked folks in the forum if i should pick ferrari gt3 challenge or skip barber for D class when I just made it out of rookies. I was recommended the skip barber and man, that was some of the finest racing i have ever experienced. even though the skip barber isnt very fast, it has so much personality and is so much fun to drive. i dont think its as popular these days anymore and i didnt race it again after that season but i definitely have fond memories of the series.

Nice win that was a great move around turn 3.
The problem with the shift is shifting too fast when the revs are too high in first gear. It doesn't like it. Wheelspin doesn't help matters but if you get a nice start shift just before you get into the high revs and be conscious of it. Its very easy just to let muscle memory do its thing and end up in neutral 😅
Its like a punishment for being to fast with your feet in this car 🤪
It can happen in 2nd aswell but 3rd to 4th seems to handle clutching faster ok. Old beatles h patten box can't handle them f1 milliseconds shifts 😄

A bit off-topic, but I noticed you have a Moza wheelbase. Are you happy with it? I'm planning on getting the R9 base in a couple of months and would like to know your experience with it. -Edit- Should have finished the video before commenting :D.

Great stuff James. Love your videos and can learn a lot from you. This morning did the Roar in the GR86. That was actually my first longer race and mixed one as well. That is really intense with the GT cars flying around left and right LOL. Kept on making place for them and lost out in the bus stop by doing that. Hit luckily no one but my car was waisted. Had to get a 12 minute pitstop and even then it wasn’t back to the old performance. Losing at least 15KMh at the end of the straight. So in principle race done…. Ended up still on P13 though LOL but that costed me some SR and iR.
Hop to see you in VR soon, I’m only simming in VR the entire time. It is really immersive and far more better than F1 22

Definitely give VR a shot. I haven't been able to go back to a screen since I got it. I have some vision issues that make the screen a little more friendly at times. But I still can't get away from the VR experience, especially in these open wheelers.

Hey James an advice for future videos, try to get a pop shield/filter or a windscreen for your microphone. They are used for plosives, especially when you say "T's" and "P's". Due to the air you push forward. It would help you tremendously. They are very cheap. For like 10 pounds you can get a decent one. Great video as always

Shows up in default livery...beats everyone. Fun race, good to see you working yourself (rather quickly) up the ranks.
Whether it's the Vee's, Mazdas, TCR's or whatever, the slower cars do generally have closer racing.
Catching back up after this start is pretty awesome.

Bro this iRacing series is fire! We are enjoying so much seeing ur iRating go up so i'd only say that we would like to check final scoring board.. James you are a brilliant driver
So James, this car is modelled with an H-pattern gearbox and you are using paddleshifters. So when you shift gears the sim uses the clutch for you. In order to avoid the "neutral lock" you can lift off the throttle while doing that initial shiift to let the revs drop and the sim engage the gear. I have a feeling it's becuase you slightly short shift and the engine just goes to limiter and the sim wont engage the gear.
Woah the shifts on those cars are rough.

Great race JD! Some of my best races were in the skip barber, like you say lower the car in a lot of ways the better the racing. It also helps you were racing 2 other really clean drivers.

Unsure if you’re the endurance type as I’ve only recently found your channel, but you should look into some of the special events for 2023. The Daytona 24 is coming up, and it’s a lot of fun to be able to do big endurance events with a team. Though, this late in the game, it’s probably not probable
Also, VR is super awesome in iRacing. Typically makes me more consistent and a bit faster compared to using triples
Formula cars in vr are legit... I just came from karting I can't afford anymore and the f4 is pretty raw

Oh yeah, JD. Try starting in 1st gear, foot completely on the brake. Apply throttle to 30% and release brakes on green light.
That last lap had Abu Dhabi vibes without handing the win to you.

I'm playing the Formula VEE series too, i would say 75% of my races are pretty fun and full of adrenaline and clean racing on top of it... Add it to MUCH MUCH better FFB and driving feel... i'm not going back to f1 22 that's for sure.
The hype you put into these races is incredible, with cars that I call "pencils with pedals". 😆

@Limitless So the going into neutral at the start issue is due to not letting off the gas when shifting up...I don't know if you use auto blip or not but that may be playing a part in it as well...I use auto blip and I've noticed the same thing when not letting off the gas long enough when shifting up. Hope that helps
With the V, you need to slow down your upshift to 2 to stop it falling into neutral.

Put the clutch setting to auto blip you can still clutch it in as usual but it will help you so you never miss shift as what’s happening is your timing is off from when you push the clutch and click the up shift

nice move :D... i switched also to iRacing, its so fun to drive... but, if you want, as u mentioned your kart experience, you should try the shifter karts in automobilista 2 on one of the longer kart tracks. That's also again another level. ;)

Notice you’re on a Moza wheelbase now. For a rocket start you need to set up a double clutch start using the APM, dunno if the Moza wheel has bite point clutch paddles on it but if so, need to set that up.

I raced formula vee for the first time last night and i was having the same issue with it going to Neutral

For the standing starts on formula vee, If I remember correctly, you need to start in first gear not N then do the usual standing start stuff like pressing down on accelerator etc. If you watch this Dave Cameron video he starts in 1st gear for the standing start: ruclips.net/video/pnWm8ZY0hXk/видео.html
If you do get vr, Buy Dirt Rally 2.0 as well... Got it for £10 on steam? A little fiddle to get it graphically working as you want? (Loads of RUclips vids on how to do this - no text file alterations required) Banging down a dirt track, max speed, hairpin coming up, trees, rocks, sheer drops... I thought racing tracks was good then I played Dirt Rally... Has to be up there with the one of the best vr experiences you can have.
Hi, Can you make a video on the settings you run for ACC, iracing and F1? I just bought a new moza wheel and I’m struggling to find the feeling I was used used to from my non-direct drive wheel. I have in the past used your settings and adjust from there onward especially since FFB can be so subjective. Anyways I think a lot of moza users would benefit from you making a settings video.

Apparently, moza pit house set-ups are base on iracing. So you are not suppose to change anything on the pre made set- ups.
