There are trendier kinds of car to get about in than medium range family saloons and hatchbacks. These are the models that evolved to feed the fleet sector's insatiable appetite for roomy, comfy and cheap company cars but have slipped from favour a little as company car users have been turned on to alternatives that cut more of a dash in the office car park. Despite this, there's still a lot to be said for the old medium rangers, particularly on the used market once the old enemy depreciation has taken its toll. A pre-owned Vauxhall Insignia could prove to be all the car most families ever need.

I have a 2013 2.0 litre diesel bought it at 6 months old with 13,000 miles , it has now clocked 256,000 miles in it. Nearly all my driving is motorway. Service it every year have had the cam belt and water pump replaced at 100,000 Miles & 200,000 miles. no issues with oil seal. Update 05/05/2024 just gone over 260,000 miles

Had two insignias, a 2014 and 2016. Both fantastic cars and gave great fuel economy. Always very reliable, and lovely to drive and the hatch was really practical too. Hard wearing cars. All you have to do is service them properly. I never changed the oil seal either and my 2014 one is still going with it's new owner with over 240,000 miles on it.

Can't say I've had that experience. I've owned 3 and not had any major issues. Like any car, if you take good care of it, and service it at the proper intervals with good parts and oil, it will serve you well. I've had a number of Ford's that everyone always raves about though and none of them were reliable. Mk3 Mondeo, 2013 Focus etc. Also very uncomfortable seats.
