Additionally, lbg works well, using wyvernblast, around the jagras attacking you or Pukei-Pukei deals considerable damage. Personally, Hunting Horn sucks ass for this because the heals for it is bad, and guaranteed you will be get hit by Leshen plus Pukei alone could not take as much damage to these jagras and get pretty overwhelmed by their hits. The 6 life powders you have plus 10 to make is quite enough, all you need to do is just kill all the jagras that comes there.
Imagine playing the next monster hunter game, years later and then another The Witcher Event happens and Gerald meets the same Pukei-Pukei again. I would cry
honestly I saved pukestain, and then after the quest I went to the ancient forest and captured a pukei pukei, and I like to belive its the same one. He almost died because pickle came in but I distracted pickle long enough for pukestain to fly away after hitting it with a dung pod.
How about inserting that Pukei Pukei into the Witcher III somehow? Something like an alternate universe in which it followed Geralt through the portal. =D
@DarkTheFirstDarkAero I really don't see that happening since Witcher III is a about 4 years old. I just don't see CD Project Red finding any benefit inserting MHW into it. Specially since that would mean halting development on Cyberpunk 2077 to do it. I think placing MHW in Cyber punk is more plausible. Not directly mind you maybe in the form of Easter eggs or collectables.
In Pukei-Pukei’s defense, it was almost strangled to death earlier that day, so he probably isn’t at his maximum health. It’s like if a person gets carted and their health is decreased.
If we're talking logically and realistically in terms of being in the monster hunter world I think it would have had enough time to recover itself considering the fact after helping it we go after the gajalaka in game sense it's not really a lot of time but I'm sure in that world it probably will take a but of time helping out with that especially getting hit with that little cutscene that says sometime later which I'm sure is a bit more than 5 minutes if I had to take a good guess which to me would give it plenty of time to recover. That's just what I think though.
@@anonymousanonymous1632 to be fair it technically could have been the last thing you do before burning the totem, also a monster sleeping or healing will recover life, but never enough to get back to its maximum. If you break the Leshen's legs before the last fase it will go in the Grat Jagras's nest (where it feeds the Jagras). That area is really small and fighting the Leshen and the Jagras there while protecting the Pukei is a pain in the ass (once i got stucked between the Pukei and a wall and I ended up carting). While if you break his horns the Leshen will have less possibility to summon Jagras. So beware of what you break during the hunt
Anyone still having trouble, just kill all but 1 jagras and flash pod it, didn't need any life powder. Also do as much damage as possible in the first encounter. Use the falling boulder and mount as much as possible
Is it just me or doss the life powder heal literally like 1/100th of his health? The area the pukei came out in was this small ass area.. And the very second he came "to the rescue" the leshen summoned a pack of jagras who just absolutely wrecked the pukei.. Between the leshen fucking me up because the area is so small there's really nowhere to run from his roots and me trying to spam healing powders AND kill the Jagras at the same time.. It literally just got burst down. Wasn't even helping me for an entire minute... That was with all of my healing powders being used in that time as well. Nothing at all I could do and now I don't want to go through the rest of the bullshit to get to that point because it fucking suuuuucks as a quest. Specially considering I didn't even know I had to do the last Palico gadget quest first... Guy said I had to collect a bunch of markings so I kept collecting them in the Witcher quest thinking that would do it. Tried it twice this way before I looked it up. Fucking stupid.
This quest might actually be fun if Leshen didn't have an obnoxious amount of HP. Considering all the running around you have to do, particularly if you want to complete the side quests, they probably should have just dropped a phase out of the fight. The first time Pukei died I was a bit disappointed but I hadn't realized I could heal it. Second time, when I'm actively trying to make sure it lives and it still dies at the last minute is garbage in a 40+ minute quest.
Use the bloody hammer and stunlock the FFUUU out of the leshen, it wont even be able yo call tha jagras, you'll kill it before going to the last fight location, and use all the pods it drops especially dragon and bomb pods, and shoot headshots with them to add for the stun, jump or slide attack with the hammer to ride the leshen at the end of each fight phase so it wont be able to escape, my pukei-pukei came with full health and the leshen died without the pukei even taking a hit.
Lbg made it really easy.. Ignis the boss then place 3 mines for a really good damage. Keep one jagras alive and shoot your pukei with recovery ammo once in a while. It may take some time but it was really manageable. Though going full ham with swag axe made the fight much easier
The LBG is really good for this surprisingly. I love it. But it is awesome when you light it up, set a wyvern blast next to it and light it up with explosions.
This video is underrated. I have seen plenty of Facebook posts on how to keep Pukei-Pukei alive, and not ONE of them listed the fact that the HH has the Recovery S tune. Thanks for the info.
So after puki dying 8 times I decided to do it this way: Farm the hell out of God bugs and blue mushrooms, get the item box ez life powders... before you knock down the totem.... once you fight in the final battle spam those life powers, flash those jagars, and BURN THEM ALL!!! Edited: Yep just fully watched the video, I was so proud that I had figured this out before I watched this video... turns out.... common knowledge! Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for this. I want that true ending. Also, I love how the true ending shows that these monsters are actually very intelligent creatures, not just mindless beasts.
Great tip about HH though I have no knowledge on how to use it. Ah good tip about gathering stuff. I had always ran out of the lifepowders and end up having the pukei die. The jagras are really the main problem for me they have crazy dps on the pukei. PS You sound kinda like JorRaptor not to be racist xD
lol even before watching the video I KNEW it was going to be in the area outside. Try doing this when you have to fight it in the Jagras lair. You will get owned.
I used hammer n melted that leshen 😂 literally every spot you fight him at has a hill or ledge. His attacks also have long startups so you can get the big charge attack off to stun him.
Really? Last phase I felt like I shouldve killed him four times over and he wouldn't die. I'm a hammer main. I did so much damage in the last phase he didn't summon jagras for 7 minutes and then he did and I failed. How much health does it have last phase?
I can’t keep it alive because when it comes to help we’re in the forest area where we literally have no room and I try to help the pukei with the Jagras and get then the leshen comes over and ruins it
Thanks for the video, good idea about crafting life powder and getting the god bugs and blue mushrooms in case you need them. But I just beat the quest for the first time after 8 hours. And I realized that it's really bad advice to use the hunting horn, especially if you use the clutch claw tennderizer move just eats the blue sharpness. The hunting horn just doesn't have the damage unless you could keep all your buffs up midfights. I watched a playthrough with a switch axe and the switch acts just looks like it demolished the leshen.I spent about 20 minutes in the training room, learning the switch axe and did one trial run on. On the second run I realized it's true with a switch ax , by the time puke comes out, you only need a few more minutes to finish leshen off as opposed to the hunting horn I had to use like six life powders and really struggle. The switch acts also has a better AoE swinging ax move that just completely annihilates the jagras. So my best advice is just to use the switch acts and get at least two mounts from jumping off the edge and make sure to drop the boulders in the forest for 500 damage and you don't even have to worry about life powders. Also, the health buff from the hunting horn is really minimal and won't safe pookie and a pinch. Plus you have to worry about getting the buff off anyways to heal them with the horn. It's just not worth it. Just use sword and shield switch ax.thanks for the video but the hunting horn just doesn't have the damage, why heal pukei when you can just kill the leshen faster?
Got it 2nd time using the life powder method and igni on the jagras. After that, Pukei Pukei spammed Poison on the Leshen lol. Pukei Pukei has gained my respect and I have a new appreciation for the guy. Definitely one of the best bird wyverns, allowing with Great Maccao.
The fact you always choose the Hunting Horn makes me happy. Horn is my primary weapon since 3U. Then Hammer. Then Glaive though i have multiple hours in all weapons
got unlucky and Leshen's final battle was in the other area (it's in that spot near the great jagras nest), it's so narrow it's almost impossible to agro the leshen away from the pukei and he ends up taking a ton of damage from it's roots, I arrived without losing a single life and ended up carting three times because i went desperate to keep the Pukei alive lol
Missed tip, use the flash pods when a new pack of Jagras appear clear em out then back to the lessen whom I don't flash until last phase (just so it doesn't have a resistance built up).
Still struggling with the quest, i hit leshy hard before it goes to the jagras area, it summons jagras, pukei-pukei comes, i get stunlocked between jagras and crows because i missed my ignis as it enrages. I die, land in camp, pukei-pukei dies while i was on my way back. I die two more times while being stunlocked. Just, run my feathered friend, let me handle it as patheticly as i can.
Came after this video after failing (and subsequently cancelling) this quest for the second time. Didn't know about the Life powders in the box, so that's something. I feel like I really should just have done the quest once without worrying about sidequests at all (as far as I understand it this quest is repeatable?) just to get it off my to-do list. I also might try another weapon next time, whilst SnS is my main I do better against certain Monster with other weapons.
Awee the pukei are kinda cute that was a nice cut scene, i wish the witcher took the gift. I do feel bad for spankin these monsters like xen jive, it sounded like a chicken who just wants ya gone 😅😅 like its saying why are you doing this😢😅
I got the mats to craft life powder but i cant craft it wtf is going on!! And lifepowder heals him for so little i cant keep him alive with that as a DB.
Pick Lance, stick to the Leshen's face and counter the heck out of his attacks, if the pesky Jagras swarm Pukei disengage and kill the Jagrases quickly with Swipe attack or Igni, heal Pukei with healing powder (pick extra healing powders from box, or pick Blue Mushrooms and God Bugs to craft more on the go), return to Leshen, pinch it to death.
Keeping 1 Jagras really helps , that way the oak tree cant summon more , annoying though that the pukei-pukei is critically damaged from its horns to wings to tail and body making it 4x to survive .-.
I keep getting that small forest area as final fight area I keep failing pokipoki ;_; when I get bleed it seems like the nature r more aggressive and I end up dying leaving poki poki alone watching its health drain as I try to get back :(
I personally found it much easier to farm and craft hardshell drug hardshell power and life powder. Beefs defense and you can essentially have 16 life powders
Just finished this quest today. I didn’t realize I needed to protect him until a ways in and he died. I’ve only been genuinely more angry in a monster hunter game maybe twice before.
My quests never end in the area that you fight leshen for the final stage in this video. All the videos I’ve seen display the final stage fight in the area outside of first camp. But all my fights have ended in the close quarters zone outside of the jagras cave. It is SO hard and annoying to fight leshen there and to try to keep pukei alive.... sigh.
I was actually finally able to get my attack jewel today...by keeping worthless boy alive...😒 like seriously why didn't they give us an anja instead at least he wouldn't have felt like a giant burden his flames would have come in handy...but anyway considering all the weapons we get are trash the best way to start out or at least the way I did it was using great sword, for those big juicey hits single the amount of damage you do depends on where the final fight takes place, then just switch to lbg for recovery ammo for pukei, keep one jagras alive so they don't respawn, and try and fight as far away from pukei as possible...when ever you need to heal pukei, just flash spam lesher... good luck to you all this fight was truly hell... not because of the difficulty but because your forced to multitask and micromanage everything on your own with trash gear on top of which made the fight feel annoying and frustration to deal with. Also focus your attacks on his head if you can that's his weak spot.
Dude thanks for the tips I’ll try and do that just got back to the game and holy shit this side quest is bs like this damn useless pukei pukei is dead all because the leshen goes to that pit area where it’s all compact instead of the big open space.
4 years, having same issue, i'm losing strength. I don't want this jewelry, i just want this lizard safe but this stupid types of quests in games are always the worst I really loved this whole collab so much, until i understood that i had to protect him, then he died once, twice and after third attempt i just want lie down and cry, it's not really hard i guess, but the fact that i have to LOSE ANOTHER 30 MINUTES OF LIFE ON THIS, makes me loose my mind. That also happens in contrast with pretty much every other aspect of this game, it's generally very good, and then you have this side quest, ugh, i think i'm just very tired
Mine survived my first time through unknowingly. Game said to kill puki after i freed ot, i was like nah. At last stage of leshen fight he strolled in, i just ignored him and kept attacking leshen. The small lizards were no problem i took them out with greatsword cleave. Leshen dead and puki still had half hp. I never healed it.

Thank you for this info I was getting so mad when I was a few hits away from beating the boss and pukei dies
I cried at the Pukei Pukei scene. It was so heartwarming, and to see how mellow the world of monster hunter? Made me smile.
I will never kill pukei pukei again
You killed them before I doubt whether they're going to feel the same...
Means you will never do "Greeting the Gluttons" again for the best method gaining meal vouchers.
Anyone still having trouble, just kill all but 1 jagras and flash pod it, didn't need any life powder. Also do as much damage as possible in the first encounter. Use the falling boulder and mount as much as possible
L I F E P O W D E R should be all you need
"Should"
Is it just me or doss the life powder heal literally like 1/100th of his health?
It's an attack boost in the wrapping leaves. How cool is that?
Oh look monster hunter stories
Thanks man also gather some flash bugs so we don’t ran out. It will be a huge chore!
You guys can't imagine how good it felt when he FINALLY removed that bleeding at 5:28...
I got cornered in one of the little caves in the jagras nest, and couldn't get to pukei-pukei to heal him.
This video is underrated. I have seen plenty of Facebook posts on how to keep Pukei-Pukei alive, and not ONE of them listed the fact that the HH has the Recovery S tune. Thanks for the info.
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
@@DarkHeroCC no thank you. Going to use this knowledge when I get home to get that dang attack gem.
Another way to keep, Pukei-Pukei alive: Do as much dps as you can, recommended weapon: Great Sword
um sir dps is dual sword main speciality
So after puki dying 8 times I decided to do it this way: Farm the hell out of God bugs and blue mushrooms, get the item box ez life powders... before you knock down the totem.... once you fight in the final battle spam those life powers, flash those jagars, and BURN THEM ALL!!!
Edited:
Yep just fully watched the video, I was so proud that I had figured this out before I watched this video... turns out.... common knowledge! Great video! Thanks for sharing!
I'm glad it helped you out! ^^
when the monsters are the real good guys
I reckon the witcher should have called in roach~ he has been known to jump plains too.
Was waiting for someone to reveal how to keep him alive.. thanks
I was litteraly waiting for this video. Thanks for the ideas
Hamner works really well, for stuns and mounts.
Yeah I do have an accent like him, and I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
lol even before watching the video I KNEW it was going to be in the area outside. Try doing this when you have to fight it in the Jagras lair. You will get owned.
Longsword counters FTW all the waaaayyy
I felt like this side quest almost ruined the experience for me because he gets wrecked by Jaggers and I need to kill them fast enough.
Y'know, I really hated pukei before this quest.... *but now I loathe and detest his existence*
That was such a pleasant surprise that he came to help. It felt just like a final battle in a fantasy game/movie.
@@erikhaugan last phase he just wouldnt die,I think maybe his health has something to do with the revoulters.
OMG that cutscene was so adorable 😆
Forget the Attack Jewel, that cutscene is the real reward for saving Pukei Pukei.
Adding the Handler's headgear to Pukei Pukei was a nice touch.
Same here
Same here
Missed tip, use the flash pods when a new pack of Jagras appear clear em out then back to the lessen whom I don't flash until last phase (just so it doesn't have a resistance built up).
Take a shot every time he says pukei pukei
Doesnt work for me... The boss is running in 2 a very small cave like area at 35% HP ...
waaaaaait... Pukei-Pukei can still take damage from your attacks?!
No dingus
@@josherickson1429 oh! I was about to say...
If anyone is thinking of using the bow, use light bow gun instead. Better strafing on most attacks, and has heal ammo for pukei.
Make sure you guys know to get the actual power up with your gear that you can make you have to complete all the quest at once
answer is lifepowders to heal him. There are 3 more in the camp chest and try to keep pukei-pukei fighting with the jagras far away from the lehsen.
Just 3 things, carry your best weapon class, use life pownder from the camp (or create), kill the jagras as fast as posible.
I'll never slay another puki puki again
Awee the pukei are kinda cute that was a nice cut scene, i wish the witcher took the gift. I do feel bad for spankin these monsters like xen jive, it sounded like a chicken who just wants ya gone 😅😅 like its saying why are you doing this😢😅
I got the mats to craft life powder but i cant craft it wtf is going on!! And lifepowder heals him for so little i cant keep him alive with that as a DB.
Pukei does actually help. He uses his poison attacks and really did do some damage to the lichen. But maybe this part is random for other players.
wow nice part to puke puke
ty for informasion
Leshen fight was very difficult for me with bow. Didnt even know about the pukei pukei. Just assumed the one next to trapped researcher was only one.
I will never kill pukei pukei again 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Thanks DarkHero!
now that I watched this, I feel like every poison status weapon isn’t worth it
Just use gs. By the time you reach the last phase the Leshen is weak and dies after 2-3 charge attack.
Igni - tru charge. Rinse repeat.
It is SO hard and annoying to fight leshen there and to try to keep pukei alive.... sigh.
I think you need to deal more damage and break all parts before the final phase in order to have Leshen move to Area 1
Same dude I did so much damage every time but it always end at that damn pit it’s my 5th try now. 😩
So with the voice line from the animal scientist, I'm guessing he has figured out how to say Aptanoth
1:use igni to 1 shot the jagras
2:use hammer to stunlock him
Hammer is so good for this quest.
@@Sushityphoon01 can u imagine that some ppl dont main it
4 years, having same issue, i'm losing strength. I don't want this jewelry, i just want this lizard safe but this stupid types of quests in games are always the worst
I really loved this whole collab so much, until i understood that i had to protect him, then he died once, twice and after third attempt i just want lie down and cry, it's not really hard i guess, but the fact that i have to LOSE ANOTHER 30 MINUTES OF LIFE ON THIS, makes me loose my mind.
