In the books Katniss and Peeta were 11 when he threw her the bread in the rain. He saw his mom run her away from their garbage (because she, her mom and sister were dying of starvation and were desperate for food.) He did burn the bread on purpose knowing his mom would probably physically and verbally abuse him and tell him to throw it to their pigs....he checked to make sure his mom wasn't paying attention and threw it to her instead. It shows how genuinely kind he is and that he was always in love with her from the first time he saw her at school....and Katniss saw Peeta as the person who saved her....motivating her to step up, hunt, and provide for her family since her father had passed away and her mom was in a dark depression. ❤
My only wish was for a better recap of that in the movie. Cause I didn’t get it at first and was offended he fed the pigs and didn’t help her. Until saw the rest of the story play out and it was explained by you
@@shaniquewright1951 same here!! I saw the first Hunger Games movie soon after it was released but before reading the books. I liked the movie a lot so I almost immediately started on the book. The bread scene was the difference that stood out and irritated me the most. It doesn't really show that Peeta cared for Katniss way before the games (it looks more like a second thought and pity towards Katniss) and it barely shows that Katniss feels she owes Peeta for saving her. It's so much more meaningful and profound in the book. I made sure to read Catching Fire and Mockingjay before the films came out as I have for the prequel too, lol.
In my opinion the best things have a low budget I don't know if you guys like doctor who but the original budget was like 300 pounds and the actors had to build props themself
@@tyrannaturkey4896 the reason why low budget projects are often really good is because in order for low budget to be good they have to get creative with what they’ve got to work with
42:06 Katniss essentially sacrificed herself for Prim when she volunteered - she had no way to know she would win. When Katniss paired up with Rue, she saw Prim in her - Katniss would never have killed Rue at the end if they both made it. Katniss would have died so Rue got out.
Haymitch's attitude comes from a combination of what happened to him after he won his Games and 24 years of watching children come and go, dying in the Games and him never being able to help any of them. Haymitch warning Katniss about showing up The Capitol makes more sense knowing his backstory, which is never covered in the movies, Haymitch won his Games by exploiting an arena mechanic, cheating in the eyes of The Capitol, so they retaliated by killing his girlfriend and entire family. Also, in the book Cato was being mauled by the mutts until the sunrise.
Also, Haymitch's game was especially brutal. It was the second quarter quell and had twice as many tributes as usual. Furthermore, the entire arena was designed to massacre the tributes. Haymitch really hat it fricken rough.
21:06 As someone who does archery, adjusting to a different bow from the one you have been using it's a bit hard. That was the first shot she ever threw with that one, so everything was different. Nailing the next shot was actually impresive
I’m not an archer, never even held a bow, but I also feel like going from a wooden bow and wooden arrows to metal bow and metal arrows would be a big change
thats why i like that, in the books, she has to train with the new bow during the session with the gamemakers and then tries again and only THEN nails it
Gale’s name is in 42 times because he was left to provide for his mom and 3 siblings after his dad died in the same mine explosion as Katniss’s. He never let his little brothers get extra rations so he did it himself.
@@fumetsu-950honestly I imagine lots of kids take extra rations for more times your name is in. Only merchants children can rely on getting food consistently
In the book the finale is way more gruesome but of course they had to change it for the movie to make it PG-13. In the book the mutts has the facial features and resemblance of the fallen tributes. Katniss even points out one that looks like Rue and Glimmer (the girl killed by the wasps). Also when she shot Cato with the arrow and he fell in the movie she shoots him instantly after but in the book he suffered all through the night being mauled before Katniss shot him to end his and their suffering. After the games Peeta lost his leg and had to get a prosthetic bc the injury was to severe. Katniss also was dead in her left ear the entire games bc of the explosion of the supplies though this was surgically repaired after. So yeah a lot more devastating and gruesome things happen in the book even Rue's death is more sad The Hunger Games is the only book where I cried at a characters death and it was Rue's bc the book goes into more detail during her death.
agree with all of this but how did you not cry while reading mockingjay?? that book had be full on ugly crying and I read it after I watched to movie so I even knew what was gonna happen
@@InfernoPhoenix123 glad someone is acknowledging the differences. there's honestly quite a lot from this movie vs the book, albeit i think Catching Fire and Mockingjay are closer to the source thankfully. aside from what you said, the only major difference that i do wish they had included was how much Katniss struggles to survive once the games start. in the book she nearly dies from dehydration, but in the movie it's a couple minutes from the games starting before she gets water lol
I don’t think Kato was naked. It’s been a while since I’ve read it, but wasn’t the reason he was still alive mostly due to the fact that he had received body armour as his gift, and it kept the muts from being able to chew him basically. And the reason Katniss couldn’t kill him straight away is because the muts had dragged him into the cornucopia, so she couldn’t get a clean shot on him all night? Or am I remembering that completely wrong? Lol
There is supposed to be a new venue for the Hunger Games each year. Each one is created by the Gamemakers and afterwards citizens of the Capitol like go there on vacation and take pictures in their favorite spots. The arena for this Hunger Games is just the woods really--which is lucky for Katniss. In the next movie it looks more cultivated. They didn't really have the budget this film.
some things the movies dont explain: the three fingers: The Three Finger Salute is used by District 12 residents when they have to say thanks or just to show that the person is loved and respected by them. It's a gesture of admiration, gratitude and saying goodbye to someone you love. the mockingjay: The father of the species was the jabberjay, an exclusively male muttations species that the capital invented to spy on rebels during the first rebellion. Jabberjays could memorize entire conversations and repeat them back to their Capitol handlers. However, rebels caught on and fed lies to the birds, sending them back loaded with misinformation. After that, the Capitol shut down the operation and jabberjays were released into the wild in the hope that they would die off. They eventually did, but not before mating with female mockingbirds, producing the mockingjay. this was unforeseen, because no one expected jabberjays to be able to reproduce with other bird species. It has become a symbol of rebellion. also after katniss and prims fathers death, their mom became veryyy depressed and wouldnt even get out of bed. they ran out of food and katniss became very malnourished and was trying to sell prims baby clothing for food. peeta burned the bread on purpose so he could give it to katniss. if it wasnt for him, she would have been dead. he had an abusive mom and he knew he would get punished for it but he did it anyway and the reason katniss missed was because she was only used to her fathers homemade bows lol
These movies keep getting better and better. Each one is more emotional, action packed and engrossing. You definitely should do reactions to all the movies in The Hunger Games series!
Betterish Catching Fire I would say is better than the Hunger games but I thought Mockingjay was pretty weak in comparison to the first two movies… still a good movie but not as good as the first two
In the last scene when the game maker guy, Seneca Crane, goes into the room with berries, it's basically president Snow making him eat them to kill himself because he fumbled when he let Katniss and Peta both win, giving hope to people.
The Hunger Games was originally written to teach middle school students about politics and war published by Scholastic Books. It was a surprise when they were optioned for the movies. There is also a series for younger students called the Underland Chronicles by the same author Suzanne Collins.
Which is insane considering how dark the books are, especially the second and third books. Like what Happened to Finnick and any "desirable" victors....I still read them around that age but I'm very shocked that they were genuinely marketed towards that age range 😭
@@radioactive_sunflowerz2450 well middle school is fine, teaches them how the world is and the classes, theres the poor then the rich, and the poor are nothing to them but their entertainment and their workers
@@NatalieV0331it is educational and it is accurate, but as someone who read the entire series at 11 and again at 18, most of the important stuff goes over your head as a kid, and I was considered advanced for my age. You just don't have the depth of thinking required, it's also more gruesome than the movies. I don't think it's bad, but I think having been exposed to it at a younger age you don't get to grasp how significant 75% of the things are lol.
Poor Hamitch. He was the ONLY winner from the district so had to mentor tributes again and again. so not only has he PTSD from playing in the Game but PTSD from seeing the kids he mentor killed.
Little fact from the books. In the scene were the dogs are being sent out the book actually informs you that not only are the hounds genetically engineered to be ruthless killer's, but they actually have the "eyes" of the deceased tributes. At one point in the book Katniss comes face to face with a hound that has Rue's eyes and she sees' that and would be something that haunts her in the later books.
Literally obsessed with people reacting to this. Great books, more gruesome and haunting +prequel(films out in ‘24) and the film franchise👏🏽 the casting is STELLAR ✨ you will definitely love it on or off camera. Subscribed and waiting for more though…
i enjoyed your reaction SO MUCH! it feels like you didn’t miss a single frame, a single detail… thank you for giving your full attention to this movie! it’ll always be my favourite franchise ❤️🔥
You are the first reviewer that actually acknowledged that people would Definitely watch other people die. Thank you. Seriously, look at human history.... of course we would do this!
I've said this in the past, but it's always true: Donald Sutherland makes a really good villain as President Snow. It's kind of the same paradox with Imelda Staunton/Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter: a delightful actor playing such a vile, despicable character.
It's either becasue they've could have more characteristics in them, like this, then they themselves would like to admit, but were raised better to not show them in real life and let them out in these roles or it is so the opposite of their behind the scenes personalities and around families it's actually huge fun for them to be an "ARSEWHOLE/BAD GUY"for onces. :D Ocassionally, not specific for these 2 alone a mixture of both might be true for the one or other. I am currently watching a completley different genre who also play more fked up roles than they did before. ^^
There's the capitol, then districts 1-12. Basically the closer to the Capitol, the wealthier and better treated a district is. The Capitol is obviously the wealthiest and has all the power and influence. The people there seem so cruel and uncaring because they legitimately don't understand the state of the districts or what the reality of having to sacrifice everything is like. They have been taught that all of it is just entertainment. There's actually a part in one of the books where Katniss realizes that Effie really did mean them the best, but had no frame of reference for how to actually express that to children who suffered so much, and were almost guaranteed to die.
At the same time they failed to mention it or Peeta's leg being severely injured by the mutts at the end so details had to be ignored or changed in the second film
I've been on a binge watching people react to this movie and yours has been my favourite so far! I love all the questions you have, you sound genuinely invested in the story!!
You know I’ve seen a lot of “first time watching” reviews this is honestly the first time the reactions and experience felt truly genuine and insightful thank you for such an enjoyable watch
I say this on a lot of Hunger Games reaction videos but I have always believed that Foxface (the girl who died from the berries did it on purpose). In the training scene she's the one they show to be really good at identifying plants. She probably figured once Clove was gone she had no chance. She's smaller than Cato and Thresh and her district mate is dead so she doesn't have the numbers advantage against Katniss and Peeta. She would have known what nightlock was and knew it would be a quick death. Taking herself out could have put her family at risk but "accidentally" eating the wrong berries. Her family would be safe.
14:39! OMG OMNISCIENT READERS VIEWPOINT MENTIONE BASEDDD WWWW‼️‼️‼️ One of my fav web novels of all time even though you’re talking about the illustrated webtoon :)
Great reaction! 😊 This is another one of my favorite from book to movie adaptation series. And with a great cast: Jennifer Lawrence(Katniss), Josh Hutcherson(Peeta), Liam Hemsworth, who's the brother of Chris Hemsworth who plays Thor in the MCU(Gale), Woody Harrelson(Haymitch), Elizabeth Banks(Effie), Lenny Kravitz(Cinna), and Donald Southerland(President Snow). 42:00 - 42:54 RIP to little Rue!!!😢 This scene is always difficult to watch. You should definitely continue on with the rest of the series: Catching Fire, Mockingjay Part 1, and Mockingjay Part 2. And after this series, I VERY highly recommend the "Maze Runner" trilogy. Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊
I love it because your videos are not 20 minutes long and everything good is cut out. You at least leave the good parts in. Those are the fun parts to watch someone react to. Keep up the wonderful content.
‘Like Croydon’ 😂😂 I felt that so hard coming from the north east, we’d absolutely be a district. Absolutely loved your reactions. New fan, new subscriber.
Whatched the movies this summer for the first time. I loved it so much I had to read the books. I just finished the first one this morning. This is officially my favorite saga of all times 💯 Can't wait for you to watch the rest! You're in for a ride.
Definitely recommend you keep watching. Catching Fire is my personal favorite of the 4 movies, I distinctly remember leaving the movie theater and saying it was the best one. I still stand on that.
I LOVED watching you react to this. You without realising it knew exactly what was coming but somehow were still surprised when it did. Even though they continually do the most horrible things you were still surprised every time! These movies are amazing!
the “what” repetition at the rule change was so me AHAHA, also it’s crazy that the movies are actually wayyyy less gruesome than the books, the books are crazy😭
49:35 well that’s the thing. In the beginning during the training scenes, we saw that “foxface” was absolutely murdering the nature training. She was able to pick out edible from poisonous at lightning speed. So that leads us as fans to believe she ate them on purpose. She wanted to go her own way, and quick; Rather than be murdered.
District 1, 2 and 4 are considered careers as they trained for the games from a very young age being so loyal to the capitol and thinking the games were a necessity. In the first film it only shows the 1 and 2 tributes as careers but in the books it was distinct 4 as well.
I think with 4 while they are careers, if they join, the careers would be based on the tributes. Those who go out of their way to volunteer would probably join while someone like Annie probably wouldn't have joined them.
I noticed that you mentioned that this world was a bit more advanced, and thats because in the books, it states that they live in the "past ruins" of North America so they live in the future
I just wanted to applaud you sir for being so amazingly quick to pick up with the film. The things you worked out and the guesses you made were so on point it was almost as if you had read the books. This was a highly entertaining reaction and I’m glad I watched this. I recommend reading the books if you enjoyed the film as they go into way more detail and are so intriguing, one of my favourite book series of all time. Thanks again
lmao bro. So, zero hate here, but I laughed so fucking hard as a chef when you pointed at your one burn. I just slowly looked at my hands and arms and like couldn't believe for a sec that what you said was a thing. legit brightened my day lol
23:20 he’s kind of saying “we can’t reward those that don’t align with our rules. People will see how Katniss won favor, rather than being punished for her actions. We cannot give the people the hope that they can too.” I know I’m late, but🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
The first time I watched this (I was 12) my parents made fun of me for jumping at the moment the weird beast things jump out. After watching a bunch of reactions, I feel so much better about it now😂
Wow, someone who asks great questions and makes astute observations. It's weirdly rare to find in the movie commentary community, what a breath of fresh air!
There is a theory that Foxface (the girl that ate the berries) actually knew the berries were poisonous and killed herself. 🥺💔 Knowing who was still alive at that stage of the Games (Cato, Thresh, Peeta and Katniss), she didnt see any way to win so ate the berries to take her life quickly. In the training part before the Games, you see her going through the wild plants exercise with ease so it would be surprising that she wouldnt know Nightlock was poisonous Hope you will watch the rest of the movies!!!! The 2nd movie is my favourite 🙏🙏
Sorry if this is too long, and I hope I don’t come off as annoying because I am going to pull an ‘um… actually ☝️🤓’ moment but I just thought I’d explain something, because I see this theory all the time and I know it’s a theory but it’s just not true. I guess I can understand how the theory can come from that one movie scene, but I think people heavily misinterpret what foxface is doing in that training scene. What she is doing has nothing to do with identifying edible or deadly plants, in fact it’s a matching game which seems to actually be more about patterns and reflexes with reactions times, which is more of her strengths. Foxface is smart yes, but she’s not smart because she’s knowledgeable. Just like her nickname of foxface suggests, she’s smart because she’s sneaky and cunning. She doesn’t know how to gather food on her own, but what she can do is follow other people with food closely without them knowing and taking small sections of food so they don’t notice. Before katniss blew up the careers pile, that’s what foxface was doing with them. She was taking food from the careers the entire time and when katniss blew up their supplies, foxface lost her food source as well. Especially book wise, foxface was described as emaciated when she died, she was starving because she was struggling to get food, she was desperate for anything at this point. Not just with the berries she also took cheese that Peeta and katniss had in their food pile, and if foxface did it deliberately why would she steal other food? Especially since she stole that little so that they wouldn’t notice. The reason foxface died is purely because people often worry about underestimating their opponents but overestimating them could be just as dangerous. Peeta collected the berries because he actually thought they were edible, so that made foxface think that they were edible as well because if Peeta did it as a trap knowing she was watching she wouldn’t fall for it. Peeta didn’t know so she assumed if Peeta was going to eat them then it must be safe, which is her downfall. It’s a death Peeta feels genuinely guilty for because he didn’t mean to do that. Even if we say that foxface did learn about plants there would still be no way for her to know what those berries are. Katniss even says that nightlock berries weren’t in the plant books in training and they are a specific type of berries that only grow on the outskirts of district 12 and they look almost identical to another type of berry you can actually eat. It’s why katniss knows what those berries are but Peeta doesn’t, because katniss’ father took her out to the woods illegally to hunt and would teach her these things and what to look out for before he died, katniss his spent most of her life out in the woods and learning these things. Peeta may be from district 12 where these berries grow but he’s never been outside the fence, he’s a bakers son and someone from the merchant part of town. Which in comparison to the seam where katniss is from is a lot more well off since his family are shop owners and isn’t used to be starving because him and his family eat the stale bread no one wants, so he didn’t learn those survival skills. In fact katniss is very lucky because the only ones who even go out to the woods to hunt are her and gale, so most people wouldn’t know what those berries are. Technically katniss shouldn’t either because she’s not allowed to go outside the fence to hunt, which is another reason why snow is so mad about the berry incident because that’s another reason why he knows she’s been defying the rules.
@@clover2739That is genuinely SO interesting! I’ve never read the books, but recently rewatched the movie series and was reminded of how much I enjoyed it. With the prequel film coming out soon, I’m quite tempted to dive into the original text. However, I’m an audiobook girl, so if there are multiple versions/narrators (like with Harry Potter) I’d welcome any specific recommendations 🤓
Books are wonderful, movies did fantastic. The actors perfect! For the reaping process: boys and girls of ages 12-18 go into the reaping. Each year your name is entered consecutively, and you can put your name in more times for more rations for your family to survive, hence Katniss asking Gale how many times his name is in it. Anyone can volunteer as long as they are in that 12-18 age bracket, and a girl can only volunteer for a girl and a boy for a boy. No parents or adults can volunteer. In 74 years, there has been 1,800 tributes (thanks to Haymitchs game where they sent double the number of kids). 74 victors. 150 tributes per district. And Katniss is the very first volunteer in 74 years.
There are a lot of flaws in the maths, the economics and the strategy in the books. A lot of it just doesn't make any real sense. The chance of no young child with an older sibling being picked in District 12 and having their sibling volunteer instead of them seems massively unlikely. Honestly I can't imagine this not happening relatively often. There also seems no sane reason why the outer districts wouldn't work out someone to volunteer each year like the careers. Even if they do their own draw from the oldest kids to choose someone it would allow every single child in the district to put their name in the pot extra times and get extra food and resources for their families, and only ever be at risk when they were 18.
@@mattc3581yeah, I agree. I find it hard to believe that no one ever volunteered in 74 years to protect a loved one. Or that no one ever got enraged at their child dying in the arena and started a riot before Rue. But I’m willing to suspend disbelief since the story is so good.
I really thought that the tributes from districts 1 and 2 were mostly volunteers... because they had the resources to have the training, plus the fact that they almost saw this as a game too by being so close to the capitol, bieng a volunteer was an act of honor and to prove that they were better as district. by that, katniss would be the very first "real" volunteer, motivated by love and caring for her sister. But I think it was the desperation in her that made the people in the capitol cheer for her, because it was like she had a motive to root for her (that she could see her sister again and that she can continue to protect her in the future if she came back home)
@mattc3581 I hear your argument for sure!! From the way that I was reading the books, it's from katniss point of view in district 12. So the comment about no volunteers only goes to district 12 not the other districts. Also it is stated that training for the arena is actually illegal and katniss and peeta seeing ruesdisctrict in 11, they already remark on how different it is and that they probably wouldn't be able to hunt or anything. Making it even more likely as the districts get closer to the capitol. So even in district 12 where peacekeepers turn a blind eye at hunting (because they got something out of it) I don't think they'd turn a blind eye at training. And alot of district 12 is malnourished to start. In terms of just families volunteering. I can see this playing out in two ways. 1. They did have volunteers at one point but no one remembers or wants to remember - via backlash of the capitol (katniss mom said there used to be alot more brutality with whipings) so people stopped doing it out of fear 2. I see the districts like olden days. When mothers would have multiple kids because they didn't know who would survive. Peeta, katniss, gale, rue all come to mind. When you have other mouths to feed you don't want the oldest or strongest volunteering because then you are possibly just leaving your family to die Really I just like talking about the hunger games and thinking of the world haha
I'll add some context for things that were in the book but were not mentioned in the movie. Not only is a child's name added more times if they get food from the capital, but it's also added one more time each year until they turn eighteen. They can get enough food for each member of their family, including themselves, by putting their name in one time for each of them. If a twelve year old gets enough food for their family of six, their name goes in seven times. If they get enough food for their family again the next year their name goes in 14 times at just age 13 and it keeps adding up every year. The sign everyone does in the beginning with the three fingers is, "an old and rarely used gesture of our district occasionally seen at funerals. It means thanks, it means admiration, it means goodbye to someone you love." In districts 1, 2, and 4, it's considered such an honor to win the games that children in those districts will be professionally trained until they turn 18, then volunteer. That's why that girl was mocking her.
some things to make this easier to explain are that the tributes from districts 1 2 and 4 are careers, so they volunteer themselves because they are strong, and normally win, and are better with the capitol, some districts are more poor like 12
One change from the books is that Thresh (district 11) is actually killed by Cato (district 2) rather than the dogs as revenge for Thresh killing Clove (district 2). The dogs were more so to drive Katniss and Peeta to the cornucopia to fight Cato in the books (as well as disturb Katniss and Peeta due to having similar attributes to the downed tributes).
One problem I do have with The Huger Games is that The Capitol is supposed to be an extremely advanced place with amazing futuristic technology but they couldn't even give Peeta a good prosthetic leg
at 52:30 in the books cato had gotten some kind of body armor/enhancement that covered everything but his hands/heads, which is why peeta pointed at his hand. And also when he fell down he didnt die fast and got slowly eaten and torn apart by the creatures. Its been a while, but if I remember correctly he was just a bloody pulp, still breathing tho, when katniss put him out of his misery. Might be trippin and imagining that part tho, read the books too long ago
49:40 the girl who ate the berries was the one who was doing the game with nature in the start she knew that they were poisonous and she still ate them
Jennifer Lawrence mastered this role. She is so incredible, and she has such a vibrant personality. Yet, she was able to show exactly the fear, anger, and sadness of Katniss. If you enjoy reading, I definetly recommend the series. The work is incredible. The scene where Rue dies, is so heartbreaking. The movie does show Katniss’s pain. However, you as the watcher/reader doesn’t understand it, till you read the book. Because Rue gets more developed in the book, and the time she spends with Katniss is longer.
1:50 District means state - Hunger Games' country - Panem is built on the corpses of a alternative USA. It's one of those futuristic dystopias, where after future war country just fell apart and was taken up by a group of rich people that now have 13... I mean 12 enslaved districts that work mostly for specific centralised industry to keep the whole country rolling. Making you wonder what happened with the rest of the world tbh (probably decimated in nuclear war and violent climate changes - as we can see that American population and the continent itself shrunk). 6:35 To be fair some details has been cleaned up more or less over the years. But it did end up being like that - if you react to the new movie prequel, you will learn slightly more as its dated at 10th Hunger Games (this movie shows 74th Hunger Games). 9:40 It's random... Unless someone has hand in the papers and all of the papers are just the same name. Didn't really happen in the series, but with how corrupted everything is? Possible. 36:15 Its not really explained here, but a lot of the crazy animals were actually technologies made and used in the war against rebels. Some of those did backfire - like the Mockingjay - the golden bird pin Katniss wore, and the bird she and Rue use to communicate was actually a hybrid of one of those mutts and a common bird. This is the era where humans heavily affected their ecosystems. Those wasps specifically may be a reference to real world mix of bees humans created - which were mix of European honey bees and African bees. Results did in fact create a bee that produces more honey, but African bees do not commonly live around humans - the mix turned out extremely violent (and they attack in swarms). Bad part about is that the new bees are overtaking the local bees in the North and South America right now. Mix that with people allergic to getting stung and you have multiple more deaths per year caused by bees. Hunger Games is in a way a commentary on our world - a dystopia pointing the things that are wrong or specific about our world and the direction we are taking. This is our world put to the extreme. 37:50 Those are old type mines - as Capitol isn't really willing to spend a lot of money to support certain districts or expand their technologies. Those issues have been somehow fixed in modern days, but methan and other gas explosions within mines is a thing that happens. That's why in movies you see people go down into mines with canaries - to see if there isn't a deadly gas, including the ones that burn (as most of these are heavier than normal air - they usually collect at lowest spots). This is a risk when you dig into ground where a lot of gases and liquids are stockpiled over the years. Especially when you mine for coal, there may be natural gas reservoirs as well. 38:10 Hardcore depression is easy to get for widows. Especially in this case where the father was pretty much their bread bringer. 42:15 In books we know that Katniss saw her sister in Rue. She very likely would unlive herself to make Rue the winner at the end.
42:19 I was literally crying watching this movie for the first time. I know the entire song. Deep in the meadow under the willow a baird of grass, a soft green pillow, lay down your head and close your sleepy eyes, and when you awake....The sun will rise. I'm lucky enough to say I saw TBOSAS on a premier day at the cinema and I really recommend the prequel but always remember HEKILLEDFINNICKHEKILLEDFINNICKHEKILLED-Coryo... he is so sexy men
I loved when he asked how long we would survive for cos the other day my friend group talked about this and they concluded I would be the first one they kill for the meat😂
16:04 "That's Lit!' Me: "Literally" Also, all the outfits in the games are always standard, kinda like a uniform. Designed to protect them against relevant weather/climate, but standard issue by the capital with no room for customization by the stylists
Of everything they face in this arena, those dog-like mutts that force them back to the Cornucopia are the most terrifying in the books. It's all but outright stated that they were made using the bodies of fallen tributes as they have the hair, eyes, and general physique of each fallen tribute. SUPER creepy.

This movie had everyone on a chokehold back in the early 2010s. The first one did nearly $700 Million on a $78 Million budget so good

In my opinion the best things have a low budget I don't know if you guys like doctor who but the original budget was like 300 pounds and the actors had to build props themself
Wow
@@tyrannaturkey4896 the reason why low budget projects are often really good is because in order for low budget to be good they have to get creative with what they’ve got to work with
@Ks-101yeah they used actual locations and practical effects instead of making everything but the actors cgi, wish it would go back to that tbh
42:06 Katniss essentially sacrificed herself for Prim when she volunteered - she had no way to know she would win. When Katniss paired up with Rue, she saw Prim in her - Katniss would never have killed Rue at the end if they both made it. Katniss would have died so Rue got out.
but katniss didn’t kill rue
@@madmaxeditssThey didn't say she killed Rue
@@madmaxeditssnobody said she killed rue😂
Nailing the next shot was actually impresive
true. i did archery as a small hobby back before the pandemic and oh my god the weight change of the bow messed me up haha
I’m not an archer, never even held a bow, but I also feel like going from a wooden bow and wooden arrows to metal bow and metal arrows would be a big change
This tho, bc this is so true
thats why i like that, in the books, she has to train with the new bow during the session with the gamemakers and then tries again and only THEN nails it
Gale’s name is in 42 times because he was left to provide for his mom and 3 siblings after his dad died in the same mine explosion as Katniss’s. He never let his little brothers get extra rations so he did it himself.
and he still did not get picked. lucky bastard

@@HannahB09 unfortunately I haven't been able to get to that one by getting it for Christmas 😁
@@InfernoPhoenix123come back and discuss with me when you’ve read them all!! I wish I could read for the first time again
It was in the forrest in the books too. This was, without a doubt, Katniss' arena!
Yes, Katniss stayed in the woods. There was also another part that she never ventured into, that was "Thresh's domain".@@Cameron5043
some things the movies dont explain:
the three fingers: The Three Finger Salute is used by District 12 residents when they have to say thanks or just to show that the person is loved and respected by them.
It has become a symbol of rebellion.
also after katniss and prims fathers death, their mom became veryyy depressed and wouldnt even get out of bed. they ran out of food and katniss became very malnourished and was trying to sell prims baby clothing for food. peeta burned the bread on purpose so he could give it to katniss. if it wasnt for him, she would have been dead. he had an abusive mom and he knew he would get punished for it but he did it anyway
and the reason katniss missed was because she was only used to her fathers homemade bows lol
I could’ve sworn Snow briefly explained what the Mockingjay was in the 2nd movie to Heavensbee… how they were a mistake and shouldn’t exist
love the Mockingjay part, even when the capitol thought they won a piece of the rebellion still lived on
These movies keep getting better and better. Each one is more emotional, action packed and engrossing. You definitely should do reactions to all the movies in The Hunger Games series!
Yeah the first one has the perfect premise, and the sequels launch of into a really interesting plot
@@radioactive_sunflowerz2450the books are to teach students about politics and war which also is pretty dark but children are routinely subjected to

I love it when people watching a movie or a show actually pay attention to the story that is being told.

Ocassionally, not specific for these 2 alone a mixture of both might be true for the one or other.
I am currently watching a completley different genre who also play more fked up roles than they did before. ^^

12:23 "Oh it's the guy from Loki!"
-It was in fact not the guy from Loki.
i was just gonna say-
There's the capitol, then districts 1-12.
Even after all these years… Rue’s death never fails to get the tear ducts running 😭
I love how you called Peeta “Pete” for the whole video 😂
This is my very favourite "trilogy"(if you count part 1&2 as one film) of all time, can't get bored rewatching this film
Please keep reacting to all of them 😊
Also, Katniss became deaf from her left ear after that explosion of the food mountain.
They do fix her hearing after the game just not completely so she's not completely deaf on her left ear
I loved foxface (Finch) man 😭😭
I love how he called Woody Harrelson, Owen Wilson.

Cinna, the guy who makes their costumes, is legendary rock & roll singer and actor Lenny Kravitz! ❤
I just wanted to applaud you sir for being so amazingly quick to pick up with the film. The things you worked out and the guesses you made were so on point it was almost as if you had read the books. This was a highly entertaining reaction and I’m glad I watched this.

Wow, someone who asks great questions and makes astute observations. It's weirdly rare to find in the movie commentary community, what a breath of fresh air!
Yes! React to the second one! Catching fire is my favorite of the series!
In the training part before the Games, you see her going through the wild plants exercise with ease so it would be surprising that she wouldnt know Nightlock was poisonous
Hope you will watch the rest of the movies!!!! The 2nd movie is my favourite 🙏🙏
Oooh! Thought it was something weird with that. Makes sense now
this theory only works for the movies
2nd is the best
1. They did have volunteers at one point but no one remembers or wants to remember - via backlash of the capitol (katniss mom said there used to be alot more brutality with whipings) so people stopped doing it out of fear
2. I see the districts like olden days. When mothers would have multiple kids because they didn't know who would survive. Peeta, katniss, gale, rue all come to mind. When you have other mouths to feed you don't want the oldest or strongest volunteering because then you are possibly just leaving your family to die
Really I just like talking about the hunger games and thinking of the world haha
It means thanks, it means admiration, it means goodbye to someone you love."
In districts 1, 2, and 4, it's considered such an honor to win the games that children in those districts will be professionally trained until they turn 18, then volunteer. That's why that girl was mocking her.
7:02 bro we’re only seven minutes in and he’s already foreshadowing the plot 😭
some things to make this easier to explain are that the tributes from districts 1 2 and 4 are careers, so they volunteer themselves because they are strong, and normally win, and are better with the capitol, some districts are more poor like 12
your accent makes this so much more entertaining!! love the content man
Crazy how this guy predicts everything that happens about 10 seconds later
One change from the books is that Thresh (district 11) is actually killed by Cato (district 2) rather than the dogs as revenge for Thresh killing Clove (district 2). The dogs were more so to drive Katniss and Peeta to the cornucopia to fight Cato in the books (as well as disturb Katniss and Peeta due to having similar attributes to the downed tributes).
Great reaction bruh. I think this is one of the best hunger games reactions I’ve seen.

7:45 That’s work! She’s safe. Katniss has already received the bad thing 😅
Please do the whole series 😂 I normally don’t watch reaction videos but I couldn’t look away, so good!
Nah not the 13- no 12😭😭
Help you literally had my same reaction to this movie😂
I like you. Idk how ive never seen any of your reactions until now 🤷🏼♀💜
42:19 I was literally crying watching this movie for the first time.
*Catniss throws him up against the wall with her elbow in his throat*
Peter: "ohhh...Harder!"
Catniss" "WOAH!" *instantly let's go*
Please continue! They just get better and better!
Of everything they face in this arena, those dog-like mutts that force them back to the Cornucopia are the most terrifying in the books. It's all but outright stated that they were made using the bodies of fallen tributes as they have the hair, eyes, and general physique of each fallen tribute. SUPER creepy.
I love your reactions, i hope you continue
Definitely continue reacting to them, they’re all amazing especially the next one
Definitely video the rest of the movies! Love watching the reactions
Cato and clove hated katniss because of her 11 training score which was the highest out of all of the tributes
It also goes to show that peeta had his name in the raffle more than gale
