- Nas is one of the greatest writers of all time. From his storytelling to his metaphors, the way he maneuvers words to share his perspective on the world is a once in a lifetime ability. He’s had one of the most consistent runs of lyricism, ever and there is nothing that can happen that would take away Nas’ impact on Hip Hop over the last 3 decades.

What is the ONE Nas song that you would have loved to have been in the studio for while they were recording?
Take It In Blood, it's my fav Nas song
I Gave You Power & Rewind
Ether
Memory Lane. Greatest emcee and producer (Preemo) on imo, their best track.
The Let Nas Down remix is one of the greatest collabs ever.
Nas is probably one of the few rappers who never left their prime.
Wow! This one of the realest statement seen on social media. You are too right!
Damn true
Consistent
Bars !!
Smh this is a lie boldfaced one too he hadn’t had a good album since god son before he started working with hitboy
Nas is the definition of your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper !!!
Since 9 1 I am da truest, name a rapper that I ain’t influenced 🔥
I would say kgr is your favorite rappers favorite rappers favorite rapper. And Nas favorite rappers favorite rapper
Nah, that would be MF DOOM
There alot of fav rappers favorite rapper. I think it has to do with generation. DOOM and Kool g rap are definitely the definition of that aswell. Nas is your favorite rappers favorite rapper for the younger generation, DOOM and KGR are Nas, PUN, AZ, EM, Vinnie Paz, people of that age favorites. Which the news generation looks up to these people.
@@NeckNoddin niggas don’t listen to him it’s nas
*This 3 album run (King’s Disease, King’s Disease 2, and Magic) at this stage of his career is unprecedented. It solidified him as the greatest MC of all time. Now imagine what King’s Disease 3 will do to his legacy!*
Yes, King's Disease 3... MAN I CAN'T WAIT!!!🔥🔥🔥
I been slapping that King's 1 and 2 on repeat every other week.
we bout to see on Fri...he might have another trilogy of classics...
@@thecunninlynguist you already KNOW🔥🔥🔥
He already has been the GOAT to me and I haven’t even heard those albums. Untitled solidified it for me an absolute masterpiece.
Nas is Goated, no one can take his place it was written. Give this brother his crown.
And it's not hard to tell. 🐐
Nas is the greatest to ever touch the mic.
Like eminem said he should be in the rocknroll hall of fame .. give theses OGs their roses while we still have them here
Ice Cube said to NaS on his 'The Bridge' podcast, "Back then we were doing our penmanship, then you came and put it in Cursive". Highest compliments from 1 of Hip-Hop Greats!
Finally people are recognizing the real GOAT
It’s taken so long but we always knew he’s the Prophet
"Sooner or later we'll all see who the prophet is..."
Finally!!!
💯% it’s about damn time
All facts.
Nas is the greatest hiphop trendsetter of all times. He changed the whole style of rapping. ILLMATIC is the hip hop bible.
It really is. I bought that joint like 4-5 times. It’s the best hip hop album ever. Period.
Plus it was written was one of the albums to popularize mafioso rap
I think Rakim originated the flow, but Illmatic is simply perfect hip hop, my favorite album for sure.
i got a chance to meet Nas back in the day in Toronto for rock the bells. i asked him if i can get a pic with him in which he replied ''sure homie'' took a pic with me and even signed one of my Nas cd's. Not only did he do this for me but he did it with every single person that was there. one of the coolest most humble cats i ever met.
His poetry’s deep, he never fell
Nas is coming for the kill. Fourth album in 2 years, all three leading up are classics. At his age?!?! Very rare form. No other rapper has ever done this, ever. Legendary.
He's the GOAT! This Kings Disease run has cemented that
One of the best, lyricists ever, no wonder J. Cole looks up to him. let Nas down gave me chills when I first heard it. I especially like the response record made Nas proud.
Nas could never have made an album after 1999 and he still would be one of.the GOATS
Nas is king
Period, none other like him
Nas is like
illmatic is still the greatest debut album in any genre ever.
And he was 16yrs old
its the perfect debut album
Nas is the greatest to ever touch the mic aint no debate untouchable 🐐.and nas does freestyle too in his songs he said it on his podcast with common. Some part he freestyle and some part hes writing. The goat for real. Nobody even close.
I personally think 'It was writen' was his best album an absolute lyrical masterpiece 🔥 Sooo underrated!
You beat me to this comment... you couldn't have said this better
I don't think it's necessarily underrated(at least among hip hop fans), but I agree. Better than Illmatic(though to be fair, I was born in 84, so I wasn't really aware of Illmatic, or how good it was when it came out.)
Totally agree
Fr
Nas success this far out is due to the fact that he never compromised his sound to compete.
Well said. He's the truest
Sekou Story is crazyyyyyyy.. Nas rhymming as Scarlet so ill. Nas is the GOAT
Man that album with Damian is so good. Every track is gold. People need to hear it. Every time someone knows it, they love it. I met this dude in Indonesia at a bar and he played a track and I asked him to play more. So we just vibed on the whole damn album. Nas is the King. No gimmicks.
Nas is the GOAT 🐐. His verse on Raekwons verbal intercourse is arguably the greatest verse in hip hop history. He was a child prodigy and a genius. Respect to the king 👑.
Raekwon was no chump either. He definitely represented himself as well on that track. One of his best.
No one can jump on a hook better
Q tip impression of Nas was spot on lol
Greatest MC of all time
To you Maybelline, The Best MC's are from The Middle of The Map 🗺️
@@ansleythompson5473 besides Lupe Fiasco I disagree
@@screamingeagle11b Lupe, Common and KRS One can compete. But Nas is better than all of them chicagians
@@nicksharma8238 Nas already said on drink champs Lupe is the closest thing to him.... Prime Nas was great for his era and is still great and better than most rappers, but as rap has evolved, I think lyrically Lupe is more sharp with the pin.
@@screamingeagle11b Maybe Lu is better currently in terms of lyricism. But Nas' recent streak and overall discography is better. If you look at the whole career, Nas - even with some holes in his discography, is overall better than Lu.
THUN is arguably a top 10 Nas song and he just released it
For me " The lost tapes " is something godly level man , can't even explain the feeling
Is no one going to mention Nas song "One Mic" ~ One of the illest, street life, action sequences ever put to record...When Nas is in his zone EVERY line lands and connects with an electrifying intensity, accuracy and emotional element with is rarely, if ever, seen in the modern era.
Nas storytelling and flow is just amazing even in his recent albums king's disease 2 and magic you can see how he is improving and making amazing songs like moments ,deathrow east and wu for the children. Nas is one of the greatest storytellers of all time and one of the greatest rappers of all time.
Nas is an MC's MC
When I think about Hip-Hop I think about Nas
I wish I was in the studio getting high with Nas when he recorded "Purple". That record is so underrated man. Nas is the GOAT.
That beat is crazy.
One underrated song that just completely captures Nas greatness is Project Window on the Nastradameus album. You feel like your him looking out the window as a kid watching all hood drama. It really takes you to another zone
classic track with Ron Isley
Original unreleased version no hook!
Nas is lapping all the other GOAT contenders at this point.
Eminem loves the culture so much. Impressive how he can sing a verse probably the whole song from legends.
right!! he never stopped being a student of the hip hop world! that’s what makes him so great is that he still go this day studies it so much, i think he’s low key like has an obsessive type disorder and it made it become one of the greatest of all time!
@@spencerscott9935 yup he's like Kobe in a sense of being a student of the craft first and foremost.
But Eminem was more focused on popularity fame views IG politics that trump diss and shit .. he kinda lost focus , revival was his worst album sadly lost his prime . Not just him but Jay-Z lil Wayne , 50 all of them end of 90 start of 00s lost their prime
Eminem is a genius himself. He's in the conversation for greatest MC of all time in his own right. Imo Nas is the GOAT but it's music not sports. It's all personal preference and inherently subjective. They are all genius talents. I've heard Black Thought verses that made me think he was the GOAT. Or Lupe. Or Aesop Rock. Or Eminem. Or Pharaoh Monch. Or Rakim. Or Andre 3Ks. Etc. So many greats. Nas is also the most influential imo.
@@elbowgang9715 bro exactly!! perfect example right there fr, obsessed with their craft they eat sleep and breath what they do and it hasn’t changed ever since they was hungry for it at elementary school lol and it made them icons, rip black mamba
So blessed to have shaken hands with such a prolific and legendary MC. Meeting Nas solidified a profound impression on me: he is a CLASS ACT, through and through.
Nas untitled album is severely underrated! I put that one in my top 5 nas albums
I love that album 🔥
You echoed my thoughts bro
The 1st Nas album I bought... and actually the 1st EastCoast album for me was Stillmatic, I was 13 or 14 and it was 2003. Rewind wasn't even my favorite track on the cd and it stills one of my favorite storytelling songs.
Favorite Nas song is "Dance" his RIP ode to his mama.
Stillmatic was 2001
@@lastone032085 I know, I'm just saying I started listening to it after, like 2 to 3 years after it came out.
Fetus is one Nas most poignant, creative songs in my opinion. The tone, theme, visual imagery, mood is all synchronous to bring the listener a powerful experience. It almost makes you want to never abort any child.
Amongst Kings, Undying Love, Book of Rhymes, Fetus, Rewind, Take it in blood, Blunt Ashes are all incredibly creative.......my favorites must be Mastermind and My Way ( personal opinion of course)...man....there's too much that stands out.
Lost tapes is sooooo overrated
Under* my bad...I'm high, admittedly
Was good but Drunk by myself was craaaaazy relatable for me personally... at the time that album and Godson were running in veins
@@Raydensheraj my way nothing last forever(RIP Aunty) heaven and mastermind🤮🥶🥶🥶🥶too personal 😅
All the producers on illmatic said nas was hands on in the sample selections. They spent hours going through records. But he let them do their thing and was willing to accept their input. Premo even convinced him to change the beat to represent and thank God he listened.
Besides his storytelling and lyrical capabilities I think what Nas is gifted with is his voice. He’s got a silky smooth voice that helps.
Yes. Q-Tip remarked about Nas's voice in the 1994 promo documentary for his first album.
You're right. His voice was meant for Hip Hop.
NAS is definitely my favorite rap artist alive, I don't think this generation of hip hop/rap fans know what they've got as he's still rapping.
Whoever is editing these short documentary is hitting every point!! 🔥🔥
Take a moment ti appreciate that, thank you so very much for mentioning that, the dude deserves props.
@@Srilankanenglishteacher BIG FACTS!

NAS IS A LEGEND.
My all time favorite Rapper!
“One Love”. When I first saw Belly my mind was blown that they could literally make a movie scene out of one of his verses. The absolute meaning of storytelling.
whaat fr?? which scene??
You gotta peep it. “So I comes back home, nobody’s out but Shorty Doo-Wop…”. That entire verse is that scene.

That part!!! Also the barbershop scene is from "the message"
This is what I always say...he was ordained to do this. His writing is so profound and UNFORCED... perfect sentences.
This 3 Album run that he’s had has been flawless. I can’t wait to hear KD3
With different colours of broken glass, Our bikes would catch flats a lot - NAS
wow that was deeply poetical and he was just talking. Easily the best rapper of all time.
That Let Nas Down Remix made me drop some tears when I heard it because I was such a huge fan of them both. Them moment was just so beautiful man. I wish I could get that feeling from current music
Honestly the untitled album doesn’t get enough love.
Nas is a goat 🐐
Honestly this deep dive was so illuminating to create. Nas is the ultimate writer and will always go down in history as one of the greatest of all time
Fell in love with a track called The World Is Yours From ILLMATIC and got hooked to his catalog ever since
Top 3 Alive
1 Nas
2 Toney Starks
3 Jay z
The impact of honesty and speaking from the heart. That’s what I admire about NaS. 🐐
One thing about Nas is he knows how to make a compelling record. Most rappers can only do freestyles and are grossly one dimensional in their subject matter. They're only good for a posse cut and would be boring to listen to over the course of an album without being laced with beats from top producers. Nas has never been carried by beats and has the lyrical versatility to make an album interesting.
I still need a song with Nas and Andre 3000😭
One of the best Nas stories ever was
(((((Undying love)))))))
While we're here, this is a reminder that Nas has more gems and great albums in his discography than just Illmatic.
It Was Written
Stillmatic
The Lost Tapes
God's Son
Life is Good
King's Disease II
Magic
distant relatives
Nas has one of the most consistent discography in hip-hop history period!

About time we have another video like this🔥
Editing these Deep Dives episodes have been super inspiring! Love that you rock with this 🔥
The effervescent of his flows is what does it for me. Nas is my 🐐
GOAT! And this video is only scratching the surface as to the "why"
Nas is the best rapper alive for me. Noone comes close!
Nas has been waiting for a producer like hitboy for a loooong time… when I first heard that same beat I was like ooohhhhh shiitttt!
The day we stop listening to Nas is the day Hip-Hop is truly dead
Nas is what the industry refers to as a Legacy Artist because he's one of the most influential artist in Hip Hop History and extremely well respected! 💯🎙🎤👑
Killa Queens Get The Money 💰
I got chills when Eminem rapped halftime
I would have loved to be in the studio when Nas wrote Black Zombie or One Mic
This was so worth the watch. Motivated. Thank You
Great job on the video! Nas has made a huge impact on hip hop. His storytelling abilities are beyond compare. It never gets old because it's classic..
Deserves all the flowers ..hold this W
This is inspiring me to write better. That's the mark of a great rapper. To inspire others.
Nas has always been the goat 🐐 that’s dope how his boys was in the booth with him when he was recording
NaS was Born to Use Mics 🎤! He has always been about the Art, the Culture, for the most part he didn't compromised his Pen to get Radio play, but he always knew that all he had to do was keep working putting out his thoughts & creativity on tracks and let it play out in the long run. Y'all forget that his Dad is a musician that has traveled the World and so music flows through NaS veins, and to him its about the music, all the other stuff that comes with it good or bad, like fame or hate is expected, so you look the other way and just do you and continue feeding his loyal fans. I remember him saying in an interview 1990s, young NaS, that he was going to rhyme until he grow old, because that is what he loves to do and there is no reason why a Rapper can't rhyme into his 70s like Rock n Roll artist do.
"A Slow Run Beats Cheating The Grind" - NaS
Thanks for this man! Got me teary eyed..❤

Nas is bringing back hip hop for sure 🎉
Thank You HiphopXD for sharing this
Really well done. Props for doing right by the GOAT
I always felt like nas' writing would get him a pulitzer the same way that bob dylan was awarded one for his writing. nas is so influential I've heard on a podcast years ago that there are teachers who use his music as teaching material for writing. his music is unparalleled. love nas. he's definitely one of my top 5 favorite rappers of all time
Amazing video, thank you for this. As great as Nas is, I still think he gets overlooked and sometimes even hated on by mainstream media, especially as it pertains to his music after Illmatic. To me, he’s the greatest of all time for his voice, rhyming ability, flow, versatility, storytelling and longevity. Not to mention that he is a trendsetter outside of the booth as well.
This is So inspirational to Watch! I knew it at Ten years Old when I first heard “it ain’t hard to tell” He was a Master emcee!
Great video my brother keep it up!
Too many great tracks, verses, and quotables to pick one to post man. I can hit play on this man's catalogue and just listen from there. Nas the greatest of all time for real.
