Hi. I found your channel looking to do glitter ornaments, but I found this tutorial and others with this technique. I have some old old (35 yrs) ornaments that I want to spruce up as they are dulling, but very sentimental as my hubby died this summer. I am not sure of the material, but I will give it a go. Thanks!!
Have you found that your hands get less shaky after painting for a few minutes? It’s weird that the act of painting can sometimes calm and focus your brain so much that your hands might stop shaking. It works for me.
LOL and I still don't have tape! Thanks for the reminder. It's like I have a mental block and I can't remember to write it on the shopping list! Thanks for making me feel less alone in this ; )
Loved this tutorial thanks for posting. I've been watching your videos and got my supplies now to just get started....trying to get passed that newbie fright LOL
Hi Rachel, could you point me in the right direction as to where to buy just the ORANGE cap to seal the bottle. I have many of these bottles but your kit only came with 2 of these orange caps. Thank you for all your hard work on your videos.
Rachel- love your tutorials. Would you mind addressing the use of alcohol and cleaning baubles.? I just created a mess as I wiped one oops smeared it, tried to wipe off , then used alcohol swab… 😞 it’s a goner! Left a haze I cannot remove. It’s a pewter colored glass bulb. Sooo I will remove what I’ve done and chalk it up to experience. Probably try to spray paint it as I’ve done with others. Oh well! Can’t wIt to see any new tutorials you might have!! ThNk you so much!
I just purchased your dotting kit and am looking forward to a dotting adventure. I am not an artist so this will take a lot of practice.have you ever thought about adding a laminated sheet of different styles of lines, dots, commas, Curly ques, or other designs we could wipe off and use over and over again to practice on in your kit? That would be a great help to us newbies. Thank you
Thank you for the suggestion. I will get to work on that. A laminated practice sheet with different design elements would be super helpful for beginners! BTW - Thank you for purchasing my kit. I truly appreciate your support. 🥰
Oh boy! What a treat I was not expecting! What perfect timing - I brought two giant glass balls (one red, one green) back from Georgia and this gives me motivation and inspiration! Does it have to be multi-surface paint? Or would acrylic work too?
I've found that regular acrylic paint doesn't work as well as multi-surface paint. It doesn't bond like it should. Some multi-surface paints need to be baked at a low temp to cure, but this FolkArt air dries and it's STUCK. Martha Stewart and Handmade Modern multi surface also work well without baking. I got some glass balls, too. I'll paint some to sell but not to hang! My kids are notorious ball smashers lol
I don't have any teaching materials other than these videos made. Contact me at rachel@thedottingcenter.com and we can discuss what you're looking for. It sounds like fun.
I find that the paint is easily scratched when painting a coat of background colour. I can’t find them in the colours I want so I have to. What would you suggest to use to help prevent this? I have tried sealant spray and spray varnish but they are tacky with these.
I use FolkArt multi-surface acrylic paint because it's thicker and it bonds to glass and plastic better than regular acrylic paint. Enamel paint would work, but I'm not sure how it would react with the plastic bottles. You should probably use regular dotting tools with enamel paint.
Love your video's and especially the ornaments! Thumps up. I am going to your shop after I'm done watching a few more of your videos. You inspire me to make ornaments that I know my adult kids will treasure. Thank you so much.
Ornaments are one of my favorite things to paint. I think your adult kids will like these, especially because they’re made by you. Handmade ornaments are the best 😊 Have fun!
This was FolkArt multi-surface paint straight from the bottle. The dots stay 50% puffy. I have all my favorite recipes for super puffy dots in the booklet that comes with the kit.
GET. OUT. Really? Are you just trying to get me to smear peanut butter on my baubles? Lol I’ll try it. I know it removes gum from hair... done that before.
Hi all! You can find the paint bottles used in this videao at www.thedottingcenter.com/shop 🙂 Thanks for supporting my channel!

Have you found that your hands get less shaky after painting for a few minutes? It’s weird that the act of painting can sometimes calm and focus your brain so much that your hands might stop shaking. It works for me.

Beautiful and looks very easy with a good steady hand
Hi Margaret! I actually have really shaky hands, but the process of dotting slows me down enough to calm my shakes. Thanks for watching!
Love this ornament. I did not get my teardrops done as good as yours, but in time, I will get them better.
Yay! Sounds like you’re having fun playing with paint 🎨 Enjoy 💞
This is not for shaky hands! But, SOOOO 😍😍😍
Thank you. 😊
Excellent job I love these
Thank you! 😊
I laughed out loud when you said you have no tape - this happens at my house all the time. Love your tutorial, glad I found your channel.
LOL and I still don't have tape! Thanks for the reminder. It's like I have a mental block and I can't remember to write it on the shopping list! Thanks for making me feel less alone in this ; )

Have fun!
Gorgeous!! Can't wait to try it!!
Have fun!
Gorgeous..
Thank you! 😊
Do you seal your ornament with anything after it's dry? Thank you!
I don’t, but you can. Just test the varnish on a small part of the ornament to make sure it doesn’t do anything wacky.
@@TheDottingCenter Thank you. I did find Aleene's acrylic gloss finish spray. Works great with zero drips or damage.
Man😱😱😱
I love it😍😍😍
Hi Rosa! Awesome! Have fun : )
Awesome! Thanks 😍
If you use a homemade paint, would you tell its ingredients and amounts of each, if possible?
I used FolkArt Multi Surface Pearl White paint straight from the bottle. 👍✨
how do you clean the tips?
Water through an empty bottle. Needle for clogs. Some people use oral irrigators.

where did you get the dotting kit?
Excelente, gracias!
Muchas gracias Adriana : )
what is the dimension of the sphere you are working on

Would you send a teaching class pack to the UK for a workshop?
I don't have any teaching materials other than these videos made. Contact me at rachel@thedottingcenter.com and we can discuss what you're looking for. It sounds like fun.
Omg love love love
Thank you 😊
Can you do this same design with regular dotting tools?
Yes! Absolutely. The only bummer is that you have to reload your tool with paint a bunch, but that's no biggie. It just takes more time.
Well your ornaments are amazing! Im just learning this art, and have all the dotting tools 😁
Where do we purchase the paint bottles and tips? Do you get other size tips?
Everything comes in this kit: bit.ly/3pIVKux
I find that the paint is easily scratched when painting a coat of background colour. I can’t find them in the colours I want so I have to. What would you suggest to use to help prevent this? I have tried sealant spray and spray varnish but they are tacky with these.
Use plastic baubles that already have the base color you need. Maybe that will help.
And can this be done with regular enamel paint?
I use FolkArt multi-surface acrylic paint because it's thicker and it bonds to glass and plastic better than regular acrylic paint. Enamel paint would work, but I'm not sure how it would react with the plastic bottles. You should probably use regular dotting tools with enamel paint.
What diameter ball are you using in the tutorial please ?
It’s a 3” ball 😊

So beautiful 💕 I can't wait to try this! What size bauble is it?
Hi Vanessa!!! 💕 The red one was 3.5” and the teal blue one was 5” 😊👍✨ Have fun!
What size is your bauble?
3"
Hi, Loved this video and have bought my paint bottles from you but I cannot find the folkart multi surface paint. Where do you get yours from.
You can find it at WalMart, Hobby Lobby, Michaels and sometimes Amazon.
Do these dots stay puffy? What are the paints you use? Do you think them out?
This was FolkArt multi-surface paint straight from the bottle. The dots stay 50% puffy. I have all my favorite recipes for super puffy dots in the booklet that comes with the kit.
Can acrylic paint, I use Folk Art and Arteza, be used or is there another specific type of paint that I'd need to purchase?
yes! FolkArt Multi surface and Arteza heavy body acrylics can both be used.
Love, ❤️🌹😘!
I have found peanut butter works at removing marker.
GET. OUT. Really? Are you just trying to get me to smear peanut butter on my baubles? Lol I’ll try it. I know it removes gum from hair... done that before.
