Well from what heard yes, he built the hotel, but he had people place things in the construction without telling them the purpose of them and fired the employes that put them there to cover it up, and yes when Holmes got caught they wanted to turn the hotel into a museum, but someone set the whole building of fire to make sure it wasn't remembered, yeah I do recommend researching him his story is quite interesting.
