    I feel like one of my biggest problems with X is that it takes a lot- and by a lot I mean almost everything- from the Magical Mirai concerts. All the choreography, all the songs, basically everything besides the medleys. And something a lot of people enjoyed in the previous games were the sort of PVs that told a story. Totally eliminating them from X really killed some of the experience.
    Not to mention Magical Mirai is basically the Miku and Rin show co-starring Luka and Len. Meiko and Kaito get almost no recognition in this game, neither of them sing lead in a song.
    And I feel the song list is actually kind of lacking. Lost One's Weeping and the Cyber Rock Jam are the two best, but besides that, nothing really sticks out. I could list all the songs in Project Mirai. Can't say the same for X.

      Most of Sega's Vocaloid concerts uses dances from the games if they had a dance music video and vice versa with the exception of some songs.
      While the dances did appear in Magical Mirai first, I think they were planning to use it in the games in the first place. Think of it like, Magical Mirai was used as a preview for this game. Still, I wished they didn't do this whole "it's live" format and got rid of doing story based music videos.

      I think you are missing the point.
      The first game had the excuse of being thee first game to start you off at normal. I personally think, just unlock all difficulties and let the player choose, but whatever. The second one didn't fix this and now, neither did the third one. You'd think at this point they either do some save import thing or just let us start from any difficulty. It feels like they added the campaign mode just for arbitrary length.
      Also, the first game had more songs and IMO better songs in general. And there, you played only to get Diva points for the store and a high score. It didn't force you to play any other song if you didn't like it.
      Think I'll just skip this one.
      OT: We might be getting these games on PC soon. That would be nice.

    In the end of the video you should have recommended Future Tone for the PS4 which is the ultimate Miku game.
    Sure it is in the Japanese store only but since it is purely focused on the rhythm game there really is a very marginal language barrier only.
    THAT is the perfect choise for a Miku game (offering over 220 songs for a bit over 8000 Yen / 80 dollars)...

    I really hate how every vocaloid but Miku got treated this game. it would've been better being called "Project Miku X" since more than half have only miku singing. Heck, Meiko and Kaito didn't get one solo song and Kaito only appears in 2 songs. This game is really disappointing for a successor to the previous games.

      @RaineTCG Of course Miku should have a majority of the songs since she is the most popular one, but it doesn't make sense for her to literally have 19/24 songs. It gets old and boring, this is the first Project Diva game where there was a crazy overload of Miku songs. Also, grow up, don't call people retards.

  • @imekitty
    @imekitty 8 лет назад +17

    I really wanted to like this game, but it's just not even close to the other games. For one, the videos accompanying the songs are boring. It's basically just the characters dancing on a stage instead of the far more interesting story videos from the previous games. Then, the game encourages you to use all of the characters and provides many modules for each, but then the vast majority of the songs are for Miku. It's weird to hear and see different vocals and moves from certain characters (most notably, KAITO [my favorite Vocaloid] singing with a high voice and dancing girly moves). I get that Miku should have the most songs, but if the game wants you to use all of the characters so much, they should each be given at least two songs like in the previous games. KAITO and MEIKO barely even get one each since theirs are not solos.
    Those are my biggest problems. I can forgive the smaller things (although I really miss being able to randomize the modules), but these larger ones make the game very lackluster to me. I'm not even sure if I want to bother collecting all the modules...maybe just the KAITO ones.

    I am really fucking tired of the weeaboo comments, it is being offensive to someone because of the culture they take interest in and it is just because it is a foreign culture. And in this case it is people calling people weebs over a rhythm game, just because it has hatsune miku

    in my opinion, X is the worst game in the series - it was a huge disapointment which im glad people have finally admitted to even if they were on the supporting side of it.
    I'd place it above the original Project Diva but lower than Project Diva 2nd.
    - its too focused on Miku, which is a step backwards from F2nd - which so far is the best in the series.
    - its lacking content in songs and new costumes.
    - its very repetitive and lacks actual PVs for songs.
    - Diva room is gone.
    - The menu system is not as good as F and F2nd, there - you didnt need to read anything... Here - you do, a lot, (obviously thats not a problem in the English release).

    A very fair review. I've had this on Vita for a few months now (as a Japanese import) and, while I like most of the songs in the game and actually love doing the medleys, it is much more or a grind to get all the modules than previous games.
    The song list feels especially meager as I also have Project DIVA Future Tone for PS4, which has a whopping 224 songs - ten times more than DIVA X. It's only available digitally from the Japanese PSN, but I'd strongly recommend Future Tone over DIVA X. It has better graphics too!

  • @marcelinarose4580
    @marcelinarose4580 8 лет назад +4

    The song list is my biggest issue with this game. I don't mind replaying songs over and over, but what I don't like is that there's not many to choose from, and since they're divided into 5 clouds, that makes the list look even smaller. I also hate how 96% of the songs are sung by Miku. It was probably to promote Hatsune Miku V4X, but I feel as though Crypton and Sega just wanted to shove some Miku in our faces and say something like "Hey here's our idol!! Buy her game and support her!!"
    I think what would have made this game better is if you can play the full version of the medley songs; that way there would be more to offer rather than the 24 we have. And like Project Mirai, I wish we could change the vocals so it wouldn't be weird to see *insert Vocaloid here* singing with Miku's voice. The DLC is alright to me, and I hope we get more DLC songs because Hand in Hand and Sharing the World aren't really enough for me(I can't stand Sharing the World because I can't understand Miku's English for shit).
    On a positive note, I do like the songs(I'm just gonna ignore that most of them are sung by Miku), and some of the modules in this game are some of my absolute favorites. I can't really get tired of this game because I live for rhythm games, and this game keeps me hooked for a few hours.

    (It's a shame I even have to state this before I write my message, but yes I am Japanese living in America, I am 23 years old and been here for the last few years, I came out here for studying with the help of my Boyfriend who have helped me on my English, my name Ayane. So please don't give me a hard time over my name or profile picture, I don't see why people have to attack each other over stuff like that, Japanese or not, it shouldn't matter. Cultures like Japanese and American/other western countries should coexist peacefully, neither of the nations are enemies to one another, we shouldn't insult each other between interest of each others cultures like this.)
    -- I've noticed many Westerns can be very disrespectful towards Japanese games or anything that resembles Japan culture/pop culture, more so when some of them act very mean to the people that properly enjoys these kind of games, they aren't hurting anyone or insulting the Japanese culture for liking games like Hatsune Miku or anything in particular to their culture/pop culture, why insult and belittle each other over another nations culture? I don't understand why the word "weeb/weeaboo" became such an annoying trend to use to harass and insult one another for just simply liking another nations culture. If anyone of you have ever visited Japan you'd know a lot of the Japanese takes much liking of you expressing your love for their culture and pop culture, they enjoy your interest on their nation rather than going in there with a strong western attitude especially you're a type to yell "weeb" over anything Japan related, the word "weeb" is practically non existent there and they don't look at you like that.
    I am only just explaining how ridiculous and childish many people are like when it comes to anything Japanese related are acting like, and these types of people that harass and insult another with the words "weeb/weeaboo" are the one that should never go around Japan and them themselves are acting more of an insult to their culture than those that actually respects and simply enjoys the Japanese culture/pop culture, before you or anyone decides to attack me with "Omg you're like biggest weeb ever!" - "are you triggered?" - "Stop being butthurt weeb" - things like that only proves my point how this whole weeb stuff in western culture has become like a 'trend' that people have to follow/say just because it's becoming a thing to say to anyone that likes Japan culture, please read the top in parenthesis before you mindlessly try to to insult me. :c

Disappointing, but hopefully they can find some other way to make this new system work.

    You should keep in mind why there are fewer songs in this game. The development of this game started off last year before dec. for the vita, which came out in march. However, at the same time they were juggling round the development for Future Tone, and Miracle girls festival. Miracle Girls Festival coming out Dec. of last year, as well asFuture Tone coming out before the Ps4 vers. of this. So, the reason they have so few songs on this is because they were to stretched out. Not to mention the fact that the main producer Hiroshi Utsumi, said that he anted to move on from producing the games. So, he went out with a big bang producing all these games with the led focus on Future Tone for the Ps4. Hiroshi Utusmi, will be missed.

    While it may be a small list, I don't think it makes the game not good by default. I've actually seen games with even less songs, and one that comes to mind is always given a lot of praise. Said game only has ten songs in it.
    That said, I know you were comparing to other Miku games, so the list does come out short. That said, I think 24-30 isn't a bad list.
    Also quick correction, LOL Lots of Laugh was in Mirai, so it technically isn't a new song for the games. And as for the vocaliods other than Miku, Kaito and Meiko have always had this rough. It's nothing new to them. Plus, since you can use the Vocaliods in any song you want, you can still get a lot of use of them. Now yes, Rin, Len and Luka are also getting the short end of the stick here too. However, I would argue that it is better than the very first game. Luka wasn't even in it, and all Rin nd Len got were covers of two Miku songs, being Song of Wastelands, Forests and Magic and Song of Life.
    I can agree with music being subjective though, as that is just our own personal taste.
    Still plan on picking this up though!

    This game was my introduction to Hatsune Miku and Vocaloid. It was the first Miku game I bought and I love it. I have played Project DIVA F, F 2nd, and Project Mirai DX. All of these games are great; Project Mirai DX is family-friendly and cute, with two gamemodes for hours of fun; Project DIVA F has a large amount of songs, some of which I love, like Sadistic Music Factory, which is very challenging like many other songs; Project DIVA F 2nd, which has a bigger difficulty level and more songs, and has better songs, in my opinion. But then there's Project DIVA X. This game feels lively and happy, and you really feel close to the characters, which is a feature that I love. I love that there are Event Requests, and this game game the Chance Time another purpose, which I also love. The gameplay is very smooth and doesn't only focus on the rhythm game, hence the fact it has a campaign mode, where you get modules and items for the characters. This game isn't too difficult in comparison to Project DIVA F and F 2nd, which might be a bummer to hardcore/experienced players, but it game me a really good impression, at least. There are very good songs in this game, maybe no classics like on Project Mirai DX, but there are definitely long and difficult songs, such as Amazing Dolce, Holy Lance Explosion Boy, Brain Revolution Girl, and, of course, the Medleys. The Medleys, six in total, each include five songs packed into a 4-minute mix, making these longer than most of the normal songs. Most of the Medleys include older songs, like Ageage Again, The Intense Voice of Hatsune Miku, and The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku, so players can enjoy a lot of the music. The game is very Miku-centered, unfortunately, since, just like you said, it only includes one song per character other than Miku, but those songs are fantastic and give you a whole new image to the characters. Amazing Dolce for Meiko, a very challenging song, which can be difficult to experienced players as well; Urotander, Underhanded Rangers as Kaito's main song, having one of the best videos in the whole franchise; Seisou Bakuretsu Boy for Kagamine Len, which is a great song, catchy and very challenging, yet I don't recommend reading the translated lyrics; The Lost One's Weeping for Kagamine Rin, a very powerful song that has a very powerful message, also quite heavy and fast paced; and A Single Red Leaf for Megurine Luka, a slow paced song that you can enjoy after having passed a very difficult song. I recommend every single Hatsune Miku game, but Project DIVA X feels more like a welcome game to new players, as it is not at hard as the other games, and has friendly characters which you can befriend and give gifts to.
    If you read this whole, please let me know your opinion! =D

    As a person who has been a Vocaloid fan for four years now and has played both F games and imported one from the PSP, this is my favorite song list they have done, including the medleys. I really consider F 2nd's 40 songs bs because half of them were old songs with very little done to change the videos or the gameplay that was seen in the PSP games. This game, however, not only has a variety of songs due to the songs being divided into sections, but also has very well known songs in the Vocaloid community such as Streaming Heart, Mrs. Pumpkin's Comical Dream, Sacred Spear Explosion Boy, and more. Not only that, but these songs are much darker than in years past, adding more depth to what you're hearing and making it hard for naysayers to call these songs "novelties". As you said, music is subjective, but this is just my take on it.

    You literally said everything I've ranted about for this game ever since day one release back in Japan, thank you (maybe except for all songs having dance PVs and no story PVs, but you know what? I don't care about that anymore, I guess people can have their own taste for music videos or whatever)
    This game is a total flop in comparison to F and F2nd, I guess they were too "focused" on taking care of the so-called story mode and all. they should've at least delayed the release date back then for the JP release to at least add more songs, especially since you HAVE TO play all the songs again in order to finish up the story mode, I got bored REALLY quickly with this game, finishing up the story mode, getting rare modules and I never actually played it again, except for when I have nothing to do and no other games to play.
    Honestly, I'd trade this game for a localization of Future Tone anytime, it's better than whatever this is. SEGA, please step up your game next time

    • @ahchurro111
      @ahchurro111 8 лет назад +2

      That pretty much sums up all my problems too (including your want for story PVs.) my only other complaint is that, as an extreme player, it felt too easy. Especially in comparison to F2nd and FT.

      Whew! Really glad to hear that from other Miku fans - it's vindicating. I was wondering if maybe I was missing something with X since I obviously really liked F, F 2nd, and Mirai DX.
      Good to know X is generally seen as disappointing by other fans as well. Looks like I had the same experience!

    • @ahchurro111
      @ahchurro111 8 лет назад +1

      ***** I think the major problem that this game was was an outside thing really. SoJ was focusing so much on Future Tone's port that they ended up giving the short end of the stick to X. Especially since a lot of its faults could have been easily fixed IMO.

    • @xxzeroxx5104

    • @AoiSuu
      @AoiSuu 8 лет назад +1

      xXZeroXx I have no problem with people still supporting them, I mean, if I'm not supporting them, I wouldn't have waste my money to buy this game. The thing is that this game is NOT GOOD in comparison to the previous Diva games, and SEGA needs to know about this or else it's probably done for the Project Diva franchise. I even heard from my friend that the sales for X wasn't as good as the other Miku games in Japan, not sure though since I haven't checked myself, but if it IS true, then there's already proof that the game has problems and flaws
      Just because you're supporting the company, doesn't mean that you have to like their games, no matter how bad they are. If it has flaws, then it has flaws. If it's not good enough, then it's not. I don't want to force myself to like a bad game just because I'm supporting SEGA, it's okay to make changes to the franchise, but if the fans don't like the changes, then they NEED to know and fix the flaws so that the next game will be at least better.

    I imagine the next DLC Pack(s) will be like this. A collection of 12 songs from each of the 3 games and six outfits (one for each Vocaloid from each game, so 3 outfits in total for all the vovaloids) from the three games. Meaning with all 3 packs that would make Project X the most expansive Miku game in the series

Some of my favorite songs include "The lost one's weeping" And "Holy Lance explosion boy(i got no comment)"! Try the original Project DIVA F first. Mirai DX is a great game and I recommend that too, but its gameplay is a little different from the DIVA series so it's not really a true representation of what the mainline Miku series is all about.
      Mirai DX kind of exists alongside the DIVA games; neither can really "replace" the other, if that makes any sense.

    One of the disappointment is the costumes. Its hard to get the costume easily since u r forced to play the song category and can only get the costume based on the character u r playing, means i have plenty of miku's costume while others barely have 5 to 10 only and the costumes are based on lottery luck, means i got same ones few times which makes it frustrating. And its very awkward to play some of the characters in a different song just to get their costume.

    I hate how he just glossed over the medleys and said he doesn't like them. They are still counted as songs, making the smaller 24 to a bigger 30. With the 2 DLC songs coming on release being free for a time, that bumps the song count up to 32. Can't complain about a song list when he doesn't even give it credit where it's due, especially since he counts the DLC for f and F2nd.

      It actually is pretty easy as long as you can buy the Japanese PSN card.
      There's guides on RUclips to walk you through making the Japanese account, then you can buy a digital card from a website like Play Asia where they email you the code, then you just download it.
      You also don't have to use the Japanese PSN account. Once the game is on your PS4 you can play the game from any account on the console as long as you set them both as your main account or something like that. And even if you did need to switch account, it takes literally 2 seconds on PS4.
      Trust me, I have Future Tone (on my European PS4) and it's by far the best Vocaloid game.

    Sounds like Project DIVA X could use a system similar to Smash Bros Brawl: You could unlock everything in both the story mode and the free play mode.
    If you don't feel like making an effort to get everything, it would be great to have accesories hard to get available thru a somewhat easier quest in the story mode. And yet, if you need some motivation to get better, the very same accesory can be obtained thru free play as before, but probably as a prize for getting a perfect or excellent on harder dificulties.
    I'm still here, waiting for Project LUKA or Luka DLC or something. Like, seriously, I like Luka so much, it's borderline obsession o_o

    That was a great review, and more than I ever expected for a Miku game from anyone! While all the previous titles forced you to play the songs on lower difficulties first to unlock higher ones too, I never once liked that aspect. Even if you still had to unlock Extremem and at least have Hard unlock off the bat would be much better. Now that this is compounded with a weird story mode that, as you put it nicely, seems at odds with the core game just seems to exacerbate the problem. Even for a bargain price, this game doesn't really seem worth it to me right now.

    one of my questions is why no full voice acting in the campaign? the songs sound great but I wish they spoke full sentences at least for some of the story but yea it felt less completed like they took out so much more. The remixes though do have songs that are not actually played at all in any of the games besides project x for a minute. I thought they were cool to have but they really should of given us at least 35 songs with the remixs but maybe they were rushed to make the game in a hurry.

    I personally like the grind aspect of this game, and the fact that you don't have to play a dating sim for 10 minutes each day for a week 6 times to get all the modules is a plus. I tried out the demo and I really like the excitement of seeing which module or accessory I was going to get next, more than just buying it, but the fact that story mode doesn't keep track of scores is TERRIBLE! I need to know that I'm improving with a percentage each time I finish a song. There's only 1 big thing missing that I hope becomes DLC..... DROP POP CANDY!

      Oh, trust me. I WAS kinda interested in the module drop feature, but later on when I got the full game, I just wanted to get all the modules quickly because it actually annoys me so much.
      Module drop meaning RNG a.k.a you can get the same exact modules for at least 5 times (I'm not kidding, this happened to me), unless you finally get the module which has the skill to raise the chance of getting rare/new modules, it's like hell (only the side missions will give you a specific-non-RNG modules, the rest is using RNG)
      btw, the accessory/item drops is using RNG too (except for some of them) so, if you're unlucky, you can get a bunch of items (including items that you might have gotten before) and 1 accessory (that you may or may not have gotten before)
