@Mr. Chicken It is! Particularly if you get the american version bundled with the DLCs which is way cheaper than the japanese version. I myself had only played Project Mirai DX on the 3DS so the variety of songs in Mega Mix is way better and the gameplay is more engaging, definitely recommend it.
This will be my first Project Diva, so I’m excited! I love so many Vocaloid songs and I’m super happy that Catch the Wave is the main theme of this game.
Be careful on your hands! When you start playing the harder difficulties, let your wrists take breaks. Future Tone messed up my wrists for a few months but they're fine now.

I'm upset that we only get digital (13GB?!) for the English release. I'm especially upset that we're not getting the dedicated controller, and don't get me started on how much the sold out Japanese controller is going for on eBay.
My poor vita and 3ds suffered back when I played the other games, time to get addicted again to more portable miku. And the best part is that the complete edition is only a little under $35 on the mexican eshop
I started the series with Project Mirai DX on 3DS, and though I've played enough Diva by now to get mostly used to the PS symbols, (still occasionally press Triangle when I see an X note) I'm just glad they included an all-arrows mode, that's gonna make this A LOT more manageable to me... (I used arrows in Mirai instead of letters for the main row) When I eventually get a Switch, this will be a day 1 purchase for me!
Funnily enough, I went directly to change the buttons into the PS/Arcade symbols because I played a lot Project Diva on my Vita and somehow my brain froze when I had to push the buttons so I went back to the ABXY format and I played it perfectly. I also started on Mirai DX btw, I loved playing with tap mode there, oh and everytime I see Riria in the menu when selecting a song, I have flashbacks to Mirai DX.
Heard of Project Diva Mega Mix? Get ready for the sequel: Project Diva Mega Man. All the characters are Mega Man characters and the gameplay style is the same.
a small detail i appreciate in your reviews, is the attention and love to detail you guys pay attention to! :) also nice of you to include all the vocaloids in this review
So I've played a decent chunk of the game today, and I'm really loving it. I just tried Mix Mode, and I'm having an absolute blast with it. And on that note, does anyone remember those live Freestyle DDR competitions that used to be a thing? I can actually see that taking off with this 's mix mode easily.
Been on the Miku train ever since I had to import the PSP games from Japan almost 10 years ago when this series first started. While I don't have the Nintendo Switch, I can certainly say that this will be a blast for those who are new to the Project Diva series especially those who haven't played the PlayStation 3/Vita/4 games.
tbh i think they should have added a setting where instead of having a music video, you can change it to where it's just a still image because i have a friend who has ADHD and he couldn't pass any song even on the easiest difficulty due to the fact that he was trying to focus on the games plus the music video and lyrics
Extra Extreme isn’t a harder Extreme mode...it only provides alternative Extreme Charts. For example Meltdown Extreme has 8 Stars while Meltdown Extra Extreme has 7.5 ^^

Lmao this was too long; I just really love vocaloid 🤘👁👅👁🤘this game is still wonderful and if you like rhythm games and don't own a PS4, give this one a shot! Also, get it for cheap at the Mexican eshop; I just learned it's under $40 there, but it's too late 😆 already got the Deluxe.
For anyone wanting to save money and willing to do a bit extra, I just preordered the game from the Mexico eshop. About $20 USD for just the game and $30 for the game and season pass DLC. So I bought it about half off compared to the US eshop.
You get yourself a 8bitdo and now your playing with a ps4 controller on switch, also no there costumes missing that future tone has, future tone has more outfits than mega mix
I do believe the game having mostly half the tracks properly compensates itself with the Mix Mode and even the fact its a portable game, easily allowing you to enjoy the game much faster when youre out of home. Even more so having the new Touch Mode to play closer to the arcade style of touch buttons allows an even more variety of replayable content than future tone ever had
Who here remembers Miku Flick 1 and 2 On IOS. i still have them both on my 4th Generation Ipod Touch and played them recently, that was a bit of nostalgia( its also what introduced me to Hatsune Miku)
I honestly gave up on looking for rhythm games for the switch. I tried some but they weren’t that great, and then a friend a couple of days ago mentioned this. I played it on the 3Ds, so I’m intrigued and I’ll buy it soon
The only games in the series I have played are 2nd and extend, as the most recent piece of Playstation hardware I have is a PSP. I'm overjoyed at the prospect of getting to play this on a Nintendo console, and most of these levels are new to me. I also love the artstyle because not only is it cute, it feels more similar to the style of the original trilogy's graphics, like the series is going back to its roots (though naturally updated to looking downright gorgeous).
Imo the arrow tap icons are the best. I remember always having trouble with memorizing the shapes or the letters in the past but I can do simple directions.
@@maroXUprising those were old songs too from the ps4 instead of putting new songs, they only put 10 new songs that were never in the game! Making people waste money on old songs when I wish they put more new songs!
Milking the switch userbases at this point shouldn’t come as surprise. It’s definitely scummy. Though...I’d be down to buying it specifically the JP version even though that would mean dealing with the expensive season pass. Never played FT or previous Project diva games so the lack of new tracks or the small roster of songs compared to others isn’t something that for me personally I wouldn’t complain about. And at the very least portability is what I’d buy this.
@@maroXUprising if you want a taste of project diva before buying (besides the demo) there's a translated version of the 2 games released on psp that you can run on either mobile or pc. I recommend giving it a shot, it's free after all
What's bad about the English release is basically small copy and paste of FT also still bo English lyrics ...there are no english lyrics in Mix Mode so WTF!!!?
"You get a ton of bang for your buck" Yea, which I feel should have been mentioned, the bundle with all the dlc currently available costs less than half of a regular game, for example Taiko costs almost 200 usd with all the dlc which amounts to near 200 songs, Miku costs 30 usd for 130 songs. So I think it's really worth it.
I bought this game at full price and with all the dlc coming in at 90 bucks. This has the been the only game I bought at full price with DLC in years. It was worth it. Puts me in a good mood every time
I'm torn on whether I should get this game. Yes, it's a toned-down version of FT but I can't help but like the appeal of bringing it to my rhythm game-loving friends. Also being to to just jam out while cooking without having to pull up RUclips
I wouldn't go out and say this is very "Beginner Friendly" compared to the ones on Sony consoles/handhelds. In F2nd and X, you only had to focus on the Circle button and touch screen when set to Easy mode, this... Easy becomes Normal (with the Hard mode buttons appearing near the end of the song), Normal literally becomes Hard, and so on and so forth...
I played the demo, and I really really wish I liked it. I have directional dyslexia and processing issues (meaning my brain takes an extra moment to figure out what is happening), which basically make rhythm games impossible. I wish I could enjoy it because I love so many of the songs in the list. Oh well, guess I'll stick to just listening to them.
The only thing that bugs me with Mega 39 is that some of the most iconic Vocaloids songs are left out or are part of a DLC or will be part of future DLC. I mean come on how can you not celebrate Miku's 10 anniversary game without Illeavan Polka.
I played the Hatsune Miku Project DIVA f games on the PS3 and Future Tone on the PS4. There's also the Project Mirai DX on the Nintendo 3DS which is another goodie. They're Chibis but still a goodie. I have the import of Project DIVA f and the localized version of Project DIVA f 2nd. I bought MegaMix and the DLC for it so I can have all the songs in the game. Funny thing is I'm not a Vocaloid fan at all but I like the Project DIVA games. Mostly cause I like music games. One thing I've been doing while playing Project DIVA MegaMix is buying the modules that are recommended for the song so I'll be playing the song with that Vocaloid in his/her outfit. I'm not a Vocaloid fan but the songs grew on me.
This game looks like a lot of fun. I've only played Future Tone on my PS4, but don't really play it much. As of right now, the setup for my PS4 makes the process of booting it up so long that I often just turn on my portable consoles, so this game seems great for me! Although, I'll probably be waiting for it to go on sale.
Mega Mix, like Rhythm Heaven: Mega Mix = a.. mega mix... of previous games so the re-use of stuff is to be expected. Especially when in development, the devs themselves said they were thinking of doing just a straight port. But decided to do extra with shaders and mix mode play style.
Although I did buy this game for the rhythm aspect, I do admit I have more fun just adding customs to characters and watching the MVs. I mean who doesn’t wanna see Miku dance in a shirt that says “Real Gamer Hour”? It’ll probably take me a while to get used to button mode, but I’ll get there eventually. As for Mix mode, all I ask for is a button to recalibrate the positions. My hands are very uncomfortable in the current position. Other than that, I like it. It’s like a console version of Bandori.
Diogo Pedrosa some people don’t like to preorder games ( like myself) it’s like giving your money away for nothing for hours on end. Ima just buy it tomorrow
With Shake it playing in the background, I can imagine this would get insta demonetized. I think a test video I did that included 12 beats of that song was flagged. ("Yeah yeah yeah yeah", and final 6 notes)
I like this one, i dont have a ps4, i had a psp and had project diva on it, so for me it is somewhat perfect, the whoping number you said that the other games had did make me want to play other miku games but since im more casual than veteran i like this one, and the mix mode is fun too.
I don’t see all of the songs even though I bought the deluxe edition. Like black jack for an example. I’m completely new to their games so do I have to like play enough to unlock them or something?
All songs should be available from the beginning, but a number of them, such as blackjack, are not available on easy mode. I'm not sure if that applies to you, but that's the only thing I can think of.
id really love yo play this game because I've always wanted to play Project Diva but even in the demo, Common World Domination. made me feel like my eyes were rolling to the back of my head. Made me realize I should stick with Taiko no Tatsujin
Personally the new switch mode with the joycons is what made we wanna buy it. It's a lot of fun to give one of the joycons to a friend to play "coop". Nice for boring college classes
Little upset that he didn’t mention the customize mode having a huge lag time on catch the wave. Normally you can cycle through modules by holding the stick. On catch the wave, the loading of each outfit rips it in half. The rhythm part is fine but I was shocked to see the game chug when I wanted make my game look correct with the right outfits.
The only complaints I have about the game are loading times like you said, and some songs that I LOVED on Future Tone aren't included (Lucid Dreaming, Love is War, AFTERBURNER, Betty the Liar). Maybe the game will have more DLC?
Just to be safe you should upload a copy of this review vid onto LBRY since youtube has been going around banning certain vids and or adding intrusive commercial ads within videos. LBRY doesn't do any of that and the rights to your vids will always belong to you. Just a heads up, oh and actually one of the best reviews I have seen for quite some time now.
My schedule is clear, so I'll be playing this game freely....tomorrow
And I’ll be playing all the songs ageage again
one more time... one more song...
Well played there sir! ^^

The long loading times are due to the models. Songs like DECORATOR, who has 7 vocaloids have to load all those models. This is also the case in Future Tone.

@@gwendolynneko4070 just watch it be 12am tonight (friday)
@@ShadowSkyX Hopefully not. I haven't enough time to play tomorrow and I shouldn't stay awake until midnight today.
I think this game is a game that exists
Does it truly though? What IS existence really?
@@hoozukigetsu It is when you don't not exist.
I just bought it!
The days waiting for English release were so painful...
I've always wanted to try a Project DIVA game
Me too! Have you preordered it yet?
Paper Mario: Broke
Hatsune Miku: Woke
Imo the arrow tap icons are the best. I remember always having trouble with memorizing the shapes or the letters in the past but I can do simple directions.
I was so Impatient for the american version that i bought the japanese version! 😅
What’s bad about getting the JP version now is the pricing of the season pass. Which looks more expensive. Ah well
@@maroXUprising those were old songs too from the ps4 instead of putting new songs, they only put 10 new songs that were never in the game!
I love Miku games, Future Tone was a surprising and awesome thing to own
Going back and forth between hades and this game is so much fun
"You get a ton of bang for your buck"
Yea, which I feel should have been mentioned, the bundle with all the dlc currently available costs less than half of a regular game, for example Taiko costs almost 200 usd with all the dlc which amounts to near 200 songs, Miku costs 30 usd for 130 songs. So I think it's really worth it.
Miku on Switch is just a dream come true 💜. I’m just wondering how project diva on the ps5 would look like 🤩
Thank you so much! I have been wanting to get a switch just for this game and wanted to make sure this game would be my cup of tea
I bought this game at full price and with all the dlc coming in at 90 bucks. This has the been the only game I bought at full price with DLC in years. It was worth it. Puts me in a good mood every time
@@ChiefMedicPururu All together with DLC included. 178 songs.
This game is actually kinda fun!
Don’t forget that are touch mode and dlc too! I love them but they’re just FT song but i never played ft so it’s a great experience to play a ft port
The only thing that bugs me with Mega 39 is that some of the most iconic Vocaloids songs are left out or are part of a DLC or will be part of future DLC.
I mean come on how can you not celebrate Miku's 10 anniversary game without Illeavan Polka.
Levan Polkka is NOT an original vocaloid song
@@YakiShinonome It doesn't matter it still an iconic song, non vocaloid or not. It's even in the tutorial but not a full playable song.
This is my first Miku game and I'm loving it so far snowman is my favourite
I can’t wait to play Negaposi* Continues on Extreme.
Welcome aboard the Mega Mix review train!
It’s goddanm 7:00 and it’s not released yet! OH MY GOD I CANNOT WAITTTTT
I'm ready for this. Its sad to hear some of songs are only 30fps which kinds sucks.
Only song that are like basically light show like 2D Dream Fever. If you play in dock mode you barely have any fps drop
@@Urshiko While some songs videos will be 30fps the gameplay is always 60fps so you don't need to fear about that.
Where’s Persona 5 dancing on switch
Put your ps4 on your switch
Dope content, keep it up bro 🙏
And we still have to wait some hours to play
Eh, they got a review copy
It hurts. It really does I have my 60 bucks ready
@@chriss7136 didnt u preorder it?
Diogo Pedrosa some people don’t like to preorder games ( like myself) it’s like giving your money away for nothing for hours on end. Ima just buy it tomorrow
Abel oh? There is? I’m getting the mega pack (the 60 dollar one) would they be in that one??
I’ve always wanted to play the Hatsune Miku, but never could, will definitely be getting this for the Switch!
Tomorrow can't get here fast enough for me
Ikr! I’m gonna have such a hard time sleeping tonight aaaa
Tomorrow never came.
@Ewan Prosser ikr! Apparently you might have to wait until 12:00 PM to play
@@fukases_hat3468 its out now!
@Ewan Prosser do you live in the uk? Cuz I live in the us and it hasn’t worked yet.
I don't care much for vocoloid music but this game looks really fun to play.
With Shake it playing in the background, I can imagine this would get insta demonetized. I think a test video I did that included 12 beats of that song was flagged. ("Yeah yeah yeah yeah", and final 6 notes)
So annoying this is digital only. If it weren't, I'd have bought it here and now.
Hopefully they put one out at some point.
You can also buy a cheep adapter on amazon that will ALLOW you to use your PS4 controller or even an Arcade Controller for Megamix
Suprised he didn’t really say much about tap play! I’ve found it really cool to have one diva game with three different ways to play songs
I got a hatsune miku ad before the video started.....
My only gripes are the exclusion of Love is War and Light Song, but other than that, the song list is pretty good.
Totally want it even tho i have future tone for my ps4 and all dlcs, its just the fact this is portable is whats drawing me in.
id really love yo play this game because I've always wanted to play Project Diva but even in the demo, Common World Domination. made me feel like my eyes were rolling to the back of my head. Made me realize I should stick with Taiko no Tatsujin
Hehe with my friends we have a tournament in my house with mega mix! The one that wins, wins a pocky or a ramune we do this once at week
It also has touch screen mode and it’s super fun
2:58 Rin and Len have magnificent acting ☺️
I like the game series and I started playing project diva when I got the psp when I was younger.
Personally the new switch mode with the joycons is what made we wanna buy it. It's a lot of fun to give one of the joycons to a friend to play "coop". Nice for boring college classes
So in California it’s like 12:31 and I still can’t play the game! I preordered the bundle and everything!!
Same !! I want to play already!!😪😣😣😣
It's now 8:53am for me in Britain and it's still not out
I've heard it comes out at 2pm BST and 9am ET but I might be wrong
Keekydeeks I sure hope it’s true, I just wanna play it!!
Its out now!! Ahh!!🥺🥺
Hi there! I’ve been thinking of getting this Game, but I have a Nintendo switch lite. Can I still play it normally?
You can play the arcade mode (if you have extra joycons you can play mix mode)
