Kakuzu could've been an insane major villain, He could've been killing people and taking their hearts to use their release (Wood, Lava etc) and he would be impossible to talk no jutsu since he only cares about money.

@Isaiah Hammond Naruto didn't even learn sage mode until wayyyyy later. He used rasenshuriken on him yes but not sage mode. Naruto didn't learn sage mode until Jaraiya died and right before the 5 kage summit

Low-diffing them and was about to kill them before Naruto and Yamato showed up. He was actually about to casually kill Naruto as well but Yamato saved him from getting his heart torn out.

no we shouldn't. the Zombies and Artists were cool as they were. Kakuzo, Hidan and Deidara don't need a fully fleshed out backstory and Sasori doesn't need to stick around for that long. they were cool, they left an impression and thats good enough. why does every character you like need to be treated like a main character?

@@Gnostic.666 Im not saying we know nothing about them or that it wouldn't be cool to get a backstory about such interesting characters but not every kinda cool guy needs a full 5 episodes long flashback. Look at Hisoka or Chrollo from HxH we don't know that much of their past but their still fully fleshed out characters and serve the story quite well. and why should Kishimoto give that treatment to characters who are already dead and were mostly liked for their personatlity when he can't even make somethig good out of Sakura, arguably the 3rd most important character at least on the good side?

There is a reason why Kishimoto basically stole all of Togashi's ideas to make naruto.
When you realize Kakuzu failed to the 1st Hokage, had his 2 hearts destroyed by the 7th Hokage and was ultimately killed by the 6th Hokage.

I think you actually missed an possibility... Kakuzo was sent to get killed wich also makes sense if you put together the rest of the info and what happened after and how he was treated by the village... Was to get rid of him...And he wasn't because he actually ran away.
It would stand to reason that the "mysterious Jutsu" that Kakuza uses for his signiture ability could be related to the Heroes water. Imagine taking the Heroes water and gaining insane strength without worrying about the Life shortening, as you could just cycle out that heart for a new one and theoretically nullify the negative effect.
That would be so interesting and believable.
Kakuzu had 2 hearts destroyed by Kakashi. 1 heart destroyed by Hidan, accidentally and 2 hearts destroyed by Naruto.
But i think rasenshuriken would have One shotted him anyway even if he had 5 hearts since It Also destroys every single other organ
What if, he faced off with Hashirama, failed his mission. And while he was in prison, Hashirama acknowledged the village and its strength and what they are capable of, that he made peace with them by given them the tailed beast to avoid more conflict and war with them. Realizing they didn’t need him anymore since now they got a tailed beast they let him rot in prison. Making his rage even more reasonable to hate his village

Kakuzu is one of favourite characters, I hated the way he died...
Cool design, great voice-actor, Awesome and unique powers also the dynamic between him and Hidan is incredible.

Maybe Kakuzu could've become the new village leader. Add the Tailed Beast with the Hero's Water, and Kakuzu's massive IQ and business understanding at the helm. Maybe he might've reached out and made connections with the Uzumaki Clan. Or give the other nations even more trouble during the wars. Heck, maybe he might even ally himself with Tobirama, game recognizes game after all, but in this case, intelligence recognizes intelligence.
thanks for making a kakuzu one, I really love his character too and really wish that they didn't kill him off so anti-climatically. at least let him be defeated by characters who actually think, the content/battle would've been so much more entertaining that way (like HxH battles). then again, they can only make so many episodes/manga panels due to budgeting and sponsorship issues probably, so they gotta cut things just like they do in movies.
I'm not sure how true this is, but I remember hearing that Kishimoto suffered a slipped disc during this arc and was in severe pain while writing and drawing it. If I remember what was stated correctly, Kishimoto didn't want the manga to go on break nor did he want anyone else to complete it for him, so he kind of rushed the ending.
Again, I haven't verified the validity of this but I do remember hearing about it a few years back after he spoke at some event. Also, I could also be misremembering some of the info but I'm pretty sure that's what was stated.

@@MFShro0m Yeah, it's a real shame if that's true too. Kakuzu was, and might still be, my favorite member of the Akatsuki. I would've loved for Kishimoto to delve into his backstory a little more and provide a more satisfying ending to his fight.
In my opinion it wasn’t anti climactic, maybe for a such a cool character it’s was “anti climactic” but it was one of the coolest fights ever. After all the previous episodes of Naruto training his new rasengan we got to see how powerful it truly was on Kakazu. I think he was the perfect character to show off the new jutsu on. Not to mention we got to see Kakashi go head to head with him, I was happy with the fight/outcome.
His village betrayed him. And i love the kid being down with everything.

This was one of my favorite videos you’ve ever done. Not having had the chance to read the light novels, this was an interesting video and deep dive into two characters that were much deeper than they appeared. To see the other side of Hidan as well was very interesting.
Kakazu: I fought and survived fighting the 1st Hokage.

No amount of money could save Kakuzu from the plot of Naruto.
I find it highly unlikely that Kakazu came anywhere close to defeating Hashirama for a few reasons.
1. Naruto and Kakashi managed to kill four of his hearts, and neither were anywhere close to Hashirama.
2. While Naruto did admittedly have to be rescued once, he still essentially beat Kakazu alone, in his base form, and adding Sage mode pushed him well past Kakazu and into the Nagato weightclass of power. Hashirama, who was likely stronger in base than Naruto was in Sage, could also use Senjutsu.
3. Kakuzu fought him, never said anything about beating him or coming close to it. Given his personality, he would have said so if he had.
4. Madara embarrassed 2nd and future 3rd Tsuchikages. Hashirama was still stronger than Madara.
Not saying you’re wrong I’m actually agreeing with you in fact but I will debunk one feat you stated about Naruto taking on Kakazu. The reason why Naruto defeat Kakazu so easily is because of rasanShuriken, it was stated that that move is extremely powerful and potent and something that has Hashirama did not possess himself also rasen Shrunken was a perfect counter for Kakazu since he could regenerate rasen shrunken could cut him down to a molecular level which basically gave Naruto easy mode in that fight
@@CasualCasimir My main reason for including Naruto in that, was showing how Naruto outmaneuvered him with clones, and get close enough to take out one of his hearts. This of course is assuming that Kakuzu was even using that immortality technique when he faced Hashirama. I don't think Kishimoto ever mentioned whether Kakazu started collecting hearts before or after this particular fight.

It’s hard to express what this body of work you’ve created has done for us. It’s like I get to re-experience the whole Narutoverse from a new perspective and in some ways for the first time again. Thank you for covering this! I was literally thinking about this the other night before I fell asleep like "Wait, didn't Kakazu fight the 1st Hokage before he even got the forbidden jutsu and survive?!" That just makes him even more impressive lol. Could you do a video going in depth about one of my other favorite duos, the Gold and Silver brothers? Them being descendants of the Sage of Six Paths and thus being able to wield the Treasured Tools just blows my mind and I would love to learn more about them!
This just has me thinking "what if the Uzumaki clan had taken/ or was from the land of water falls." The hero water plus they're long life and already massive chakra reserves would've made them even more threatening to the nations and they could've survived as a clan.
Appreciate this video big time, Kakuzu is my all time favorite character from Shippuden. I wasn't aware of the novel involving him with secluded mountain side village of outlaws either. That's awesome! Great content!! RIP to the zombie duo, RIP to the man with 5 hearts and a long story to tell.
I think he died of overuse of his regeneration abilities. You only have so many cells. And someone who lived n an era of war and who’s rival was madara it’s safe to say he was constantly healing himself. Able to regen limps and organs. He basically ran through his entire lifespan in half the time.
Tsunade herself is losing life the more she has to use her mitonic regeneration. Same with Sakura. She’s definitely gonna die early. Also naruto, his kyuubi regen was also slowly killing his lifespan.
@@BotBehavior Kinda for naruto, however hes a bit of an exception. Shortening his life is essentially him just living a normal life span (still likely 100+) due to being an uzumaki.
@@DigitalPand3mic doesn’t matter how much chakara you have. If you’re accelerating your cells to heal yourself you’re gonna end up shortening your life span. regardless if you’re a Senju. Or an uzumaki. Look at Tsunade after she uses her seal, she turns into a old bag. Looking like she’s 102 while only being 50.
@@BotBehavior I meant for Kuramas natural regeneration that naruto also has/had. That alone plus the long lifespans of an uzumaki nearly negates the downside of regeneration. Halve an uzamki's lifespan, and its still likely as long, if not longer than the normal individual.

Hot take: Hidden Waterfall just disliked Kakuzu. They sent him to Hashirama to die, and they were using the "you failed to beat one of the strongest ninja alive" as an excuse to get rid of him. Also, I sustain that Hashirama or whoever was his brains at the time wanted to troll the other villages into self-destruction by giving them incredibly unstable and dagerous power in the form of "demon-possesed" shinobi.
No, really, Jinchuuriki tend to be mistreated and escape, and Kakashi's backstory literally included dumbo-dropping Isobu into Konoha with Rin as a trojan horse. Would Tobirama just allow Hashirama to give away that much "power" and "assets"? No, he was cynical enough to see where that would end!

I firmly believe Hashirama cells killed him. No one was able to beat him nor implied to be stronger than him however they were shinobis who could damage him. I remember a brief moment in the series where Tsunade said constant regeneration of ones cells can kill someone and her regeneration jutsu should only be used when its absolutely necessary. If I'm not mistake Kabuto once implied Kimimaro constant regeneration of bones and cells might be what led to him developing his disease. When Orochimaru found Kim he did not had his disease back then but constant training and battles to be Orochimaru strongest servant and possibly his vessel is what led to him possibly developing his disease. Hashirama also died before age 55 meaning he died in his prime (36-54) and not because of old age or assassination since his senses wasn't dull because he wasn't old.
Agreed, we also have evidence that too much sage energy can harm the body (curse seal). Hashirama was a human but his mokuton was initially a power that belonged to the Juubi Jinchuriki, his heart most likely stopped functioning during combat because he was overusing his Yang energy throughout his lifetime (like how a Sharingan goes blind because Uchiha don't have the body to use it)

It was literally stated he died to his cells multiplying and it seems naruto is also dieing due to the same disease. Naruto probably would've not had the same disease if he hadn't gotten Hagaromos chakra

Kakuzu always was my favorite akatsuki member, together with Tobi (no, not Obito).
He's also kinda what more on the "actual ninja" side of naruto. Wearing a face mask to conceal your identity, actually using "hidden techniques" and overall being secretive.
Also his money hungry persona together with Hidans batsh*t crazy attitude made for one of the most entertaining akatsuki teams to watch. Their conversations mid-battle were pure gold and I'm super sad about the fact we didn't really get to see more of them. I also read somewhere that the mangaka was sick at the time? Nevertheless, great guy.

At the time he's probably already a missing nin bounty hunter and he probably would've jumped at a opportunity to get revenge on hashirama by helping in the assassination of tobirama hell he'd probably even charge the brothers less for recruiting his services lol
This actually hits different with Fu's I teracrion with Kakuzu in the anime, where she tried to befriend him. If this is the way it was intended to be seen, Fu would know his history and possibly have come to the same conclusion, and she then tried to manipulate him into wavering in his drive. Unfortunately for her, Kakuzu had been around for so long that it would take a lot more than someone asking to be his friend to shake him out of it

I lowkey just feel like kishimoto didn’t know how his story would get finished because when you see kakuzu getting bodied by a pre sage mode naruto basically and then you see the war arc feats of madara and hashirama even a one legged no arm hashirama probably would of gg kakuzu lol
Kakazu was introduced around the time it was established hashirama defeated the nine tails, so this doesn't seem like it was an unintentional gap.
This arc was supposed to be longer but the editor was rushing kishimoto to end it because of time to deliver remember he was working in the weekly manga and kishimoto was in the hospital he got injured

If Jigen revealed that he was the one who killed Hashirama, then it would all make sense in Boruto.
I never thought about that but it would make sense, I don’t know who else at the time could pull it off but Jigen could easily handle Hashirama
If so, then it won't be that easy and it must've been a lasting fight between the two giving Jigen a run for his money.

This whole concept gives me an idea for what if..
What if the uzumaki allied with the hidden waterfall to make the sixth great ninja village
I mean with the power of water giving massive multiplier of your chakra for a cut of your lifespan and the uzumaki having unnaturally gigantic chakra and unnaturally gigantic lifespan this could have been a match made in heaven
So they don't live 200 years anymore they live a normal life span but each of them possesses chakra levels closer to a tail beast than any human we've seen

well, 7 tails was originally assigned by hagaromo to watch over the lady that would eventually become the village hidden in the waterfalls. I assumed the waterfall village had a jinchuruki because the previous jinchuruki had died for whatever reason, so the tailed beast eventually reappeared back to the waterfall village. the same thing happened to 3 tails when rin died. sure it was a filler arc but 3 tails had t reappeared in it's swamp where it was originally assigned many years after Ron's death
The first hokage should of kept the 7 tails chomei and given it to The aburame clan and make a line of jinchuuriki in that clan it would make sense

Is it possible that the Hidden Waterfall actually had the Tailed Beast already and sent Kakuzu to stop Hashirama from capturing it? Noticed it wasn't mentioned and thought it could be a plausible theory.
It is genuinely both terrifying and hilarious that Kakuzu didn’t have his ultimate secret Jutsu when he fought the “god of shinobi” this man really went full Might Guy and was going after Hashirama with just semi advanced earth style and fisticuffs, no wonder Madara respected Might Guy when he saw him throwing hands he probably saw Kakuzu do the same thing to Hashirama, Kakuzu saw a man who could summon entire forests, Tame giant monsters, and throw giant wooden warrior fists ad infinitum, and he said to this man “nah f*ck that run hands now”

There is no way Hashirama "feared" Kakuzu to the point he gave a tailed beast. Hashirama's plan was to give a tailed beast to every known nation/village to theoretically have peace.

Ok, so like, I had a thought. Why did Naruto not learn/ not utilize Flying Raijin like Minato after the 4th GNW? He definitely knew it, because he carried the sealed kunai during the Kaguya fight, and he didn’t use it at all or incorporate it into his fight style in Boruto at all.

Kakuzu is one the most interesting bad guys in Naruto.
I always felt that it was a mistake to make his opponent hashirama, and completely ridiculous when we actually met the man and saw what he could do. Even kakuzu at 5 hearts couldn't touch the man. Instead, his opponent should've been tobirama, even better if it was revealed that he killed tobirama. Firstly it's way more impressive a statement that "i killed the second hokage" instead of " i survived the first. He beat me like a red headed step child but i survived." Plus it means we could get rid of those stupid knockoff jinchuriki and their dumb outta nowhere weapons
The mistake was making Hashirama so strong lol, back in part one we only knew he had wood release and built the leaf village. Shippuden is when he became more important

Originally it was just a landscape changing thing and it made sense he was so strong considering absolute control over terrain would be pretty game changing, but once everyone had kaiju powers they couldn't leave him without a power up or it'd be like dropping raditz into current dragon ball

A more simple explanation, especially considering what he did after he returned to the village, would be that the village elders, who probably reached an advanced age during an intense warring period by being either wise, strong, lucky or an excellent judge of character and power, realized what a true psychopath he was, deemed him an eventual problem and sent him on the most dangerous and deadly mission they could think of. Even if they tried to gain acknowledgement from the other villages, do they actually think that killing the leader of a much larger, more populated and powerfull village would be just accepted and forgotten? when the most likely succesor is the BROTHER of the recently deceased. Sure you could say that they were trying to destroy konoha in its early stages by killing its leader which would lead to infighting and a decrease in power but even that is questionable as the first was democratically chosen and at the time there was no reason to think that they wouldnt use the same method for choosing. not to mention that even light spywork would reveal that the hokages brother was the second most powerfull and most likely succesor

kakuzu is the only character who lived 100 years so its pretty odd how he was not a big villain. im sure he could of achieved immortality if he had a way to quickly reproduce his hearts. if he was smart he'd make a deal with orochimaru and become unstoppable xd
Kakazu never fought bunpuku, bunpuku was never part of the guardian shinobi 12, bunpuku is the old guy who was made the jinchuriki of shikaku where he stayed awake and locked away his entire life (which gained shikakus respect for a human for the first time). Kakazu and hidan killed chiriku, chiriku was the monk who put up a good fight against kakazu and hidan before inevitably being off-screen killed

Heres a question? Why do so few people from villages use hidden techniques. Like why are more people from the stone or waterfall using these techniques why is it only criminals who stole it that use it?
Because it’s forbidden therefore no one is able to learn it so the only way to learn it is by stealing it becoming a criminal
Or being high profile enough to learn it, such as how Hiruzen knew several of the leaf's forbidden techniques I believe.

Man this story deserves to be a one-shot of like 40+ pages because I love that Kakuzu returns, sees a fight and Hidan asking for help, and Kakuzu just flips him off and goes back to collect more money. These two really are the best duo to me.

This has been one of my favorite videos yet. I can't believe we got/get so much useless filler, but they never animated any of these amazing "side" stories. One of the things I've always loved about Naruto is that so many of the characters feel like they could be the main character of their own show

I feel like Kakazu would have a legitimate chance with the heroes water. Like when you think of how it is a multiplicative he might have a chance just as Guy's 8 gates nearly matched 10 tails Madara. It might also be the real reason why he stole earth grudge fear because his lifespan, if he really was powerful enough to match Hashirama, he would have under a year at most

If you stop and think about it, earth Grudge fear was created to counteract the negative effects of the hero water.
